Late of Manteno, IL, after a sudden illness, Thursday, July 25, 2002, in Flagstaff, AZ. Age 64.
Survived by her loving husband of 42 years, William McMurtry of Casa Grande, AZ. One son, David (Lisa) McMurtry of Channahon, IL; and one daughter, Barbara (James) Stellwagen of Mokena, IL. Five grandchildren, Jacob, Brent, Morgan, Katie and Gretchen. One brother, William (Darlyn) Nehrt of Sparta, IL. Nieces and nephews also survive.
Preceded in death by her parents, Henry and Caroline (nee Rabe) Nehrt; and one granddaughter, Elizabeth McMurtry.
Born in Sparta, IL, and a resident of Manteno, IL before moving to Casa Grande, AZ. Received her nursing degree from the Jewish Hospital in St. Louis. Worked as a nurse at Sandwich Hospital, Manteno State Hospital and Arizona State Hospital.
Funeral services will be held at the Carlson-Holmquist-Sayles Funeral Home, 2320 Black Road, Joliet, IL on Thursday, August 1, 2002, at 10:00 A.M. Interment Wesley Cemetery, Wilmington, IL. In lieu of flowers, memorials to the Arthritis Foundation or the Illinois 4-H Foundation would be appreciated. Visitation Wednesday 4:00-8:00 P.M.

Andre Mitchell Sr.
Age 29. born March 21, 1973 in Joliet, IL to John and Emma Mitchell. He departed this life Thursday, July 25, 2002.
Andre was preceded in death by his maternal grandparents, Martha and Tommie Jackson; paternal grandfather, John Mitchell Sr; and three uncles.
Andre was recently Baptized at New Testament Fellowship Church by Pastor, Jim Starks and was formerly employed at Deerbrook Health Care Center. He attended Joliet Public Schools and Joliet Central High School. He received his G.E.D. at a later date.
Andre leaves to cherish his memories two daughters, Jazmin Short of Capital Heights, MD and Starmisha Dove of Bloomington, IL; a son, Andre Mitchell Jr; a Goddaughter, Jhalisa Weddington of Joliet; his mother, Emma Mitchell (Mike); father, John (Shirley) Mitchell; paternal grandmother, Evangeline Mitchell of Joliet; a brother, Michael (Chaundra) Mitchell; two sisters, Tonya Mitchell of Joliet and Odeila Gardner of Boston, MA; a special God sister, Gwenette (Corey) Jones of Joliet; two special God brothers, Kevin Waddell and Mark Allen both of Joliet, IL; thee special friends, B.O., Anthony, and Black Cat; special God grandparents, Isaac and Laura McDaniel; three special lady friends, Nichelle, Lynette and Raquel; and his special cousin whom he called "his second mother", Martha McDaniel; six nephews; two nieces; nine aunts; five uncles; and numerous loving cousins and friends.
Visitation will be held on Wednesday, July 31, 2002 from 2 to 4 PM at the Minor-Morris Funeral Home, 112 Richards, Joliet and from 7 to 8 PM at Friendship Baptist Church, 201 Sherman St., Joliet, IL. Services will be at 8 PM with Pastor Gary Williams officiating. Interment Thursday, August 1, 2002 at 10 AM at Woodlawn Memorial Cemetery, Joliet, IL.

Ruth Greenwald Rosenberg
Age 84, former resident of Joliet, died July 27, 2002 in Tucson, AZ.
Mrs. Rosenberg received her Masters degree in Social Work at the University of Louisville, KY and was a charter member of the Louisville Chapter of Academy of Certified Social Workers. She devoted many years of professional service as a caseworker, medical and school social worker. Mrs. Rosenberg was president of the Joliet, Illinois Chapter of Council for Exceptional Children and the recipient of Special Educator of the Year.
Beloved wife, mother and grandmother, she is survived by her son, Philip G. (Nancy) Rosenberg of McLean, VA; daughter, Ellen R. (William) Rodwick of Pittsburgh, PA; and granddaughter, Kimberly Rosenberg of McLean, VA.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 47 years, Robert G. Rosenberg in 1990. They had moved from Joliet to Tucson in 1984. In recent years she spent enjoyable time with her friends at The Forum of Tucson and was blessed with very special caregivers.
A Memorial Service will be held Thursday, August 1, 2002, 11:00 AM at Temple Emanu-El, Tucson, with Rabbi David Freelund officiating. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Alzheimer's Association or Casa de la Luz Hospice. Arrangements by:

George W. Shride
Age 65, born October 23, 1936 in Shelbyville, Illinois, passed away peacefully Saturday, July 27, 2002 at home surrounded by family. A long time resident of Channahon, since 1955.
George is survived by his loving wife of 47 years, Janet (nee Newlin). Devoted father of Cheryl (Daniel) Warning and Timothy (Cathy) Shride. Proud grandfather of Sarah and Emily Warning and Connor and Kendal Shride. Dearest son-in-law of Bertha Newlin and the late Carl Newlin. Fond uncle of numerous nieces and nephews.
Preceded in death by his father, Gail; and his mother, Opal Shride.
George was retired from the Joliet Caterpillar Plant #14 after 40 years of service.
Funeral services will be held at The Maple Funeral Home on Tuesday, July 30, 2002 at 7 PM with Pastor Herb Priester officiating. Visitation will be Tuesday from 5 PM until the time of service. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Joliet Area Community Hospice or the American Cancer Society.

Age 75, late of Lockport, formerly of Elsberry, Mo., Sunday, July 28, 2002 at Advocate Christ Hospital. born in Granite City, Illinois, living in Lockport for a year, coming from MO. Employed by Sacred Heart Church in Elsberry, Mo, retiring in 1999.
Preceded in death by her husband William, her parents, Josiah Thomas and Mary Bridget (Mullen) Wantland.
Survived by her children Teresa (Frank) Di Giovanni of Crest Hill, William (Helen) Thompson of CA, Daniel (Judy) Thompson of CA and Thomas (Kimberly) Thompson of MO, 12 grandchildren David (Julie), Frank Jr. (Jennifer), Mary Ellen and Christopher Di Giovanni, Kimberly, William, Michael, Daniel (Karla), Kristi, Thomas, Timothy and Joseph Thompson, one great grandson Alexander Di Giovanni.

Glendora P. Thomson, 95, late of Manhattan, died Saturday, July 27, 2002 at Walnut Grove Village, Morris, IL.
Survived by her son, James (Kathleen) Thomson of Minooka, IL. Five grandchildren, Beth Thomson and Lynne (Dr. Dieter) Hoffmann both of Portland, OR, Nancy Donegan of Minooka, IL, Edward Thomson of Joliet, IL and Julie (William) Prigge of Moorpark, CA. Nine great grandchildren also survive.Preceded in death by her parents, Arthur and Lucy Raeside Peterson; and her husband of 54 years, Leslie Thomson, 1988.
Glendora was born in Chicago, IL and lived many years in Manhattan, IL. She was a member of Manhattan United Methodist Church.

Age 73 of Wilmington, passed away Sunday evening July 28, 2002 at her home. born September 16, 1928 in Oshawa, Ontario, Canada to the late Norman and Emma (Berkley) Mac Donald; also preceded in death by one brother, Robert Mac Donald. Survived by her loving husband of 54 years, William W. Weibel; three daughters, Barbara Weibel of N.C., Linda (Steven) Fritz and Nancy (Todd) Schneider, both of Channahon; three granddaughters, Gina Provenzale, Tori Fritz and Kelly Schneider. Shirley enjoyed Bingo, sewing and crafts.

James L. Westerfield
James L. Westerfield, age 63 of Sesser, IL, passed away at home July 28, 2002. He was born May 20, 1938 in Canton, IL to Clayton and Catherine (Johnson) Westerfield.
James was married to Marva L. Hankins on July 2, 1960 in Canton, IL. He retired as a general forman from Electro-Motive, division of General Motors.
He is survived by his wife, Marva and his children Lori and Joe Rodely, NC, James and Lisa Westerfield, Joliet, IL, Mark Westerfield, Minooka, IL, and grandchildren Tim, Justin, Taylor Rodley of North Carolina, Courtney and Jessica Westerfield of Joliet, IL; his sisters Bernita Long, Canton, IL, Jannet Hughbanks, Lindenhurst, IL and brother, Lawrence Westerfield, Hollister, MO.
He was preceded in death by his parents and brother Samuel Westerfield.
The body will lie in state from 6:00 to 8:00 PM Tuesday, July 30, 2002 and funeral services will be Wednesday, July 31, 2002 at 11:00 AM all at the Brayfield-Gilbert Funeral Home, Sesser, IL (Minister Bob Adams). Interment at Maple Hill.
Hugh L. Curry
Age 79, of Clinton, IN and formerly of Joliet, IL, passed away at 4:57 a.m. Tuesday, July 29, 2003 in St. Vincent Clay Hospital in Brazil, IN. He was born October 9, 1923 in Terre Haute, IN, the son of Claude Curry and Mamie Pender Curry. He was an electrician and worked for over 50 years from Local 179 IBEW. He was an Army veteran of World War II and was a tailgunner and flew over 65 missions. He attended the First Assembly of God in Joliet. He was preceded by his parents, his wife, Marion. He was a 1941 graduate of Clinton High School.
He is survived by three half-sisters, Pearl Johnson and Mable Gregg, both of Clinton, IN, Glenna Lee Shriver of Florida and several nieces and nephews.
Services will be conducted at 2 p.m. Thursday, July 31, 2003 in Frist Funeral Home with Rev. Scott Coombes officiating. Burial will be in Walnut Grove. Visitation will be from 1 p.m. until services at 2 p.m. on Thursday.
Dorothy "Dottie" A. Foster (Burns)
Age 65, died July 25, 2003 after a brief battle with cancer.
She is survived by her son, Stanley Scott (Karen) Foster; two grandchildren, Melanie K. and Stanley Shane; brother, Wayne (Mary) Burns; and several nieces and nephews.
Preceded in death by her parents and two sisters, Barbara Locsin and Judith Burns.
