Lois Irene Brewer (nee Abbott)
God has called another angel to His side.
On Thursday, July 25, 2002, Lois passed away in the comfort of her home with her family by her side. She will once again be by the side of her parents, Nina Matilda Abbott (nee Bennet) and Louis Copes Abbott.
Lois leaves behind a wealth of family and friends, looking forward again one day to her kindness and compassion. She will be remembered always by her loving husband of 50 years, Theodore Charles Brewer; children Carolyn Rae Roofener, Richard Franklin Brewer and wife Marsha; grandchildren Amanda Rae Roofener, Matthew Alan Roofener and Abbie Jane Brewer; brothers Louis Eugene Abbott and William Charles Abbott and wife Jacquelyn (nee Farrow), sister Virginia Ellen Claybaugh; aunt Carrie Hurley and many cousins, nieces and nephews.
Lois was born and raised in Pekin, IL, and spent many happy years in Joliet, IL. The past 34 years were spent in Westland, MI surrounded by a neighborhood of wonderful friends. All will remember Lois for her loving ways.
Graveside services will be held at Glendale Memorial Gardens, 18119 State Rte 9, Pekin, Illinois 61554 on Saturday, August 3, 2002 at 11:00 a.m. Family requests fresh flower arrangements for services or donations to the charity of choice in Lois' name.

Fond Grandmother of 16, great-grandmother of 16, and great-great-grandmother of 5.

Charles Edward Crump Sr. "Sonny"
Age 59. Went home to be with the Lord on Thursday, July 25, 2002 at Silver Cross Hospital. born June 1, 1943 in Cairo, IL to the union of Bossie and Fannie Mae (nee Ford) Crump. He attended Sumner High School in Cairo, IL. In 1963 he married Mary Shannon and to this union, seven children were born, but they later divorced.
He is preceded in death by his parents, step-father, Alvin James, uncles, Isaiah, Tom and Henry Ford; aunts, Eva Ford and Lena Jackson.
He was employed by Sunny Hill Nursing Home. Formerly employed at Bill Jacobs, AluMax and Lockport Park District. He was also an entrepreneur in landscaping (Crump Landscaping).
Survived by his fiancee and soul companion of twenty-three years, Alzada Walker, children; Charles Jr., Sheena Crump-Woods, Tonya, Angela, Adam, Dwayne, Jenice (Andre) Clark, Courtney, Gerald (Swelia), seventeen grandchildren, cousins, Ahmad "Babe" Luqman, Tom "Mickey" Ford, Gwennie Ford, Louella Ford, God-daughter, Crystal Walker and a host of relatives and friends.
Visitation will be held on Thursday, August 1, 2002 at 10:00 a.m. at Second Baptist Church, 158 S. Joliet St., Joliet, IL. Service at 11:00 a.m., Pastor Larry V. Tyler officiating. Interment following service, Elmhurst Cemetery, Joliet, IL.

Passed away after a courageous battle with cancer at home with his immediate family by his side, Monday, July 29, 2002. Age 60.
Survived by his daughter Tracy Gonzalez, three grandchildren Sarah, Roberto Jr. and David. One brother Robert E. (Mary) Fredericks and two sisters Kathleen Fredericks and Nancy White. Numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and friends also survive.
Preceded in death by his parents Joseph and Margaret (nee Harney) Fredericks.
Funeral services will be held at the Carlson-Holmquist-Sayles Funeral Home, 2320 Black Road, on Thursday, August 1, 2002 at 6:00 P.M. Inurnment Ss. Cyril and Methodius Cemetery.

Mabel M. Gierke
Age 88 of Shullsburg, WI passed away on Monday, July 29, 2002, at Memorial Hospital of Lafayette County in Darlington, WI. Mabel was born on May 27, 1914 in Monee, IL. She was the daughter of Albert and Mary Dehn. Mabel married Edwin E. Gierke in 1943. Mabel and her husband lived and farmed in the Frankfort, IL area. In 1977 they retired to New Lenox, IL. In January of 2000, she came to live with her son, Edwin, in Shullsburg.
Survivors include: a daughter, Sandra (David) Scherer of Oak Forest, IL; a son, Edwin (Debra) Gierke of Shullsburg, WI; four grandchildren: Amy, Steven, Janet Gierke, and Rebecca Scherer.
Mabel was preceded in death by her husband, Edwin, on October 10, 1980; her parents; a brother, Albert Dehn; and a sister, Elsie Blank.
Mabel was a member of St. Peter's United Church of Christ in Frankfort,IL. Mabel enjoyed gardening and quilting. She also enjoyed spending time with her family and grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held on Saturday, August 3, 2002, at 10 a.m. at St. Peter's United Church of Christ in Frankfort, IL with Rev. Richard Lewis officiating. Entombment will be at Skyline Cemetery Memorial Park in Monee. A visitation for Mabel will be held on Friday, August 2, 2002, from 5-8 p.m. at the Gerardi Funeral Home in Frankfort, IL.

Age 90. Monday, July 29, 2002 at Essington Place. born in Lima, OH and a lifelong resident of Dayton, OH until retiring to Joliet two years ago.
Survived by his loving daughter, Ann (Fred) Hintze; and granddaughter, Kari Hintze all of Joliet.
Preceded in death by his beloved wife of 53 years, Helen W. Gremling; parents, Sylvester and LaDeema (nee Jennings) Gremling; three sisters, Madeline, Margaret and Helen; three brothers, Robert (Della), Richard (Kay) and James.
Carl retired from General Motors-Frigidaire in 1974 after 34 years of service. A United States WWII Army Veteran serving from 1942-45. He was an avid fisherman, golfer and bridge player. He loved reading, crossword puzzles and wrote poetry.
Carl J. Gremling will be transferred to the Tobias Funeral Home in Dayton, OH for funeral services and interment at Woodland Cemetery, Dayton. Memorials in his memory to the charity of the donor's choice would be appreciated. Local arrangements by:

Robert E. Jonelis, PE, loving husband of 51 years to Patricia Ann (nee Trump), devoted father of John (Bonnie), James (Cheryl) and Sharon Jonelis. Born, Chicago, July 30, 1924, to Anthony and Rose (nee Jensen) Jonelis. Passed away Saturday, July 27, 2002.
Inventor, author and entreprenuer, Bob grew up during the Great Depression, served in the Navy during WWII, graduated IIT, mechanical engineering, worked at Commonwealth Edison, served as ASME chapter president and founded Midwest Power Corp. Living in both Illinois and Florida, he is widely published, holds many patents, designed and built electrical generating stations, created innovations for fossil-fueled and nuclear power generation and air pollution control. He was an accomplished speaker, avid fisherman, sailor, dancer, outdoorsman, teacher and story-teller. He coached Little League and was the first Cub Scout "Den Father". Bob put others before himself, gave freely of his time and resources. When a great man leaves, he leaves a great hole in his family.

Age 82, late of New Lenox, died July 30, 2002 at her residence.
She is survived by her beloved husband, Vincent Krippel, her loving children, Robert (Paula Venckus) Krippel, Kathleen (James) Yunker, Gregory L. Krippel, PHD, and William C. (Marla) Krippel, cherished grandmother of Jessica, Adam, Corrie, Brian and Steven Krippel, Joseph and Jeffrey Yunker and Michelle (Tim) Tarrant. Dear great-grandmother of Joseph Tarrant, fond sister of Stephen (Helen) Miller and Mabel Oesterle.
She was a member of the Retail Clerk's Union.

Late of Manteno, IL, after a sudden illness, Thursday, July 25, 2002, in Flagstaff, AZ. Age 64.
Survived by her loving husband of 42 years, William McMurtry of Casa Grande, AZ. One son, David (Lisa) McMurtry of Channahon, IL; and one daughter, Barbara (James) Stellwagen of Mokena, IL. Five grandchildren, Jacob, Brent, Morgan, Katie and Gretchen. One brother, William (Darlyn) Nehrt of Sparta, IL. Nieces and nephews also survive.
Preceded in death by her parents, Henry and Caroline (nee Rabe) Nehrt; and one granddaughter, Elizabeth McMurtry.
Born in Sparta, IL, and a resident of Manteno, IL before moving to Casa Grande, AZ. Received her nursing degree from the Jewish Hospital in St. Louis. Worked as a nurse at Sandwich Hospital, Manteno State Hospital and Arizona State Hospital.
