Josephine V. Popek nee Baran
Age 69, born December 23, 1931, at rest Saturday, July 28, 2001 after a courageous battle with cancer for the past year with her family at her bedside at the Provena Villa Franciscan Nursing Home, she went to be with our Lord.
Preceded in death by her husband, Raymond Popek; parents, John and Katherine Baran; sister, Wanda Baran; three siblings in infancy, Katherine, Frank and Stanley.
Survived by a sister, Theresa (Darcey) Molyneux. Her brothers, Edwin Baran and Walter Baran; sisters-in-law, Marie Scheidt, Helen Benac, Joan Krieger and Virginia Popek. Her nieces, Gail (Denny) Kaiser, Diane (Gordy) Crowther, Pat (Ron) Iverson, Joan (Tony) Pena, Rose McNamee, Janet (Rusty) Stworzyjanek and Melissa (Dave) Desiderio; and several great nieces and nephews.
Formerly employed at Uniroyal, Charter Member of Moran A.C. Auxiliary, Charter member of Sweet Adelines, member of Slovenian Women's Union # 20, Moose Lodge #300, Senior Citizens of St. Joseph Church and Joliet Artist League.
In lieu of flowers, memorials to Joliet Area Community Hospice would be appreciated.

Edwin Wallace Shors
Resident of Shorewood, passed away Sunday, July 29, 2001, following a lingering illness. Survived by his wife of 60 years, Marjorie Shors; three children, Marcia K. (Gerald) Winters of Ponte Vedra, FL; Edwin Clayton (Susan) Shors of Laguna Beach, CA; and Tracey Jo Shors-Matzel (Louis) Boundbrook of New Jersey; five grandchildren, six great-grandchildren; one sister, Marguerite (Floyd) Nellor; two brothers, Jay A. (June) Shors; and Clayton M. (Arlene) Shors. Also numerous nieces and nephews. Preceded in death by a brother, Marvin M. Shors.
Born May 3, 1915 in Beemer, NE and was a graduate of the University of Nebraska as a Civil Engineer. Served with the U.S. Navy SEABEES during WW II. Retired from Amoco Chemicals January 1, 1980 after 34 years. He was an active member of Faith Lutheran Church for 40 years.
Memorial services will be held at Faith Lutheran Church, 353 N. Midland Ave., Wednesday, August 1st at 2:00 P.M. with Rev. Todd Napoli officiating. Interment of ashes will be in Beemer Cemetery at a later date. Contributions to Faith Lutheran Church will be appreciated.

Mary E. Talbot (nee Briscoe)
Age 93. Passed away Sunday, July 29, 2001. She departed in the comfort of her own home, after a long illness. She was born in rural Minooka and was a lifelong resident. She was a graduate of the former St. Angela Academy of Morris. Mary taught school at Dresden Hill for 11 years, 1926-1938; Matteson School for 13 years, 1938-1952; Minooka Grade School for 20 years, 1952-1972. She was the reigning matriarch at St. Mary Catholic Church of Minooka. She was a member of the Joliet Moose Lodge #300 (WOTM Chapter #84) and the Retired Teacher's Association.
Survived by her brother, Earl Briscoe of Santee, California and her devoted friend, Bev Schaller of Minooka.
Preceded in death by her loving husband, Jerome Talbot (1962); parents, Michael J. and Mary (nee Handlon) Briscoe; sister and brother-in-law, Harriet (nee Briscoe) and Warren Kuster; brother, Dean Briscoe; sister-in-law, Maye Briscoe.
All friends and relatives are invited to meet at St. Mary Catholic Church in Minooka at 2:30 p.m. on Thursday, August 2, 2001 for a Mass of Christian Burial. Interment St. Mary Catholic Cemetery, Minooka. Arrangements by:

Arthur R. Vangor
Of Coal City, formerly of Joliet, passed away at Sunny Hill Nursing Home, Monday, July 30, 2001. Age 70 years.
Survived by his wife of 21 years Betty L. Poole-Vangor of Coal City; three daughters, Cyndy Vangor-Emory of Alburn, WA, Dorothy (David) Schofield of Lumpor, CA and Annamarie Grimmett of Woodland Park, CO; a step-daughter, Georgene (Joe) VanDuyne of Coal City; and a step-son, Kenneth (Linda) Poole of Joliet; 11 grandchildren and five great-grandchildren; two brothers, Donald Vangor or Madison, WI and Edward (Josie) Vangor of Lawrenceville, IL.
Preceded in death by his parents, Andrew and Elizabeth Vangor; a brother, William Vangor; and a grandson, Kenneth Poole, Jr.
Member of Our Savior Lutheran Church. Veteran of the U.S. Marine Corp. Retired from the E.J.& E. Railroad in 1991 after 31 years as a Computer Operator. Member of the Loyal Order of Moose Lodge #300. Arthur was a Realtor in the Will/Grundy County Area with RoseGarden Realty Co. and formerly with Bell Realty Co.
Lying in State at Our Savior Lutheran Church, 1910 Black Rd., Thursday, August 2nd from 9:00 a.m. until services at 9:30 a.m. Rev. Klause Mehrl officiating. Chester F. Wielock

Chester F. Wielock resident of Santa Clarita City, CA., passed away July 17, 2001 at Community Hospital, Granada Hills, CA.
Mr. Wielock a former resident of Lockport, IL. moved to California 23 years ago with his family.
A former worker at the U.S. Steel Company in Joliet for 37 years.
He is survived by his wife Mary Ann (Baran) and two children, Robert A. Wielock (Nona) of California and Elizabeth Jean Horermale (David) also of California, four grandchildren, Jill Diane and Todd Andrew Wielock and Aaron John Starks and Courtney Anne Starks all of California, two sisters, Stella Pilarcik and Charlotte Poulos and numerous nieces and nephews.
He was interned at Eternal Valley Cemetery on Friday, July 27, 2001 at noon.

Dorothy Jean (Reinhart) Albert
Of Salem, Arkansas, daughter of the late Walter W. and Catherine (Ohnemus) Reinhart was born August 18, 1935, in Quincy, Illinois. She departed this life Wednesday, July 30, 2003, at Mountain Home, Arkansas, at the age of 67 years, 11 months, and 12 days.
Dorothy was united in marriage to Gerald Paul Albert in Quincy, Illinois, on June 14, 1958, and to this union two sons were born. She spent her working years as a loving wife, mother, grandmother, a vocal music teacher at Minooka Community High School in Minooka, Illinois, for 20 years, and instituted yearly musical shows into the school curriculum. Dorothy was a 1957 graduate of Quincy University. She was a member of the St. Mary of the Mount Catholic Church in Horseshoe Bend, Arkansas, the Fulton County Extension Homemakers, the Sorosis Club, and the Fulton County Homecoming Committee all in Salem, Arkansas. Dorothy was the first woman in the Quincy Municipal Band and the city of Quincy tennis champion in Quincy, Illinois.
She is survived by: Husband: Gerald Paul Albert of Salem, Arkansas. Two sons: Martin G. Albert of Plainfield, Illinois; and Scott J. Albert of Wheaton, Illinois. Five grandchildren: Sarah Albert, Katherine Albert, George Albert, Christina Albert, and Nicholas Albert. She was preceded in death by her parents, brother (Robert Reinhart), and sister (Marian Reinhart).
A Vigil will be held Sunday, August 3, 2003, 4:00 PM, at the St. Mary of the Mount Catholic Church in Horseshoe Bend, Arkansas, with Father Kreske officiating. A Memorial Mass will be held Monday, August 4, 2003, 10:00 AM, at the St. Mary of the Mount Catholic Church in Horseshoe Bend with Father Kreske officiating. Inurnment following mass in the St. Mary of the Mount Catholic Church Columbarium.

I. Ruth Brockway
Age 101 of Plainfield, IL. died Friday, July 25, 2003 at the Lakewood Nursing Center in Plainfield, IL. born July 30, 1901 in Mokena, IL the daughter of the late James and Rachel Rouse.
She is survived by her nieces and nephews, Ralph (Shirley) Rouse of Plainfield, IL, Sue (Jerry) Kneubuehl, JoAnn Cragher and Ray (Frances) Wilmington. Along with numerous grand-nieces and nephews and her dear friend Marge Gregor.
Ruth was preceded in death by her husband Levi, brother George, Glenn, Ralph, Floyd Rouse and a sister Maude Wilmington.
Ruth was the former owner of Owens Restaurant in Plainfield, IL. Was employed at Steiner's Dress Shop for over 30 years. A member of the Plainfield Congregational Church, Eastern Star, Pansy Chapter, Plainfield Historical Society and the American Legion Auxiliary.
In lieu of flowers memorials to Joliet Area Community Hospice, 325 W. Jefferson St., Joliet, IL 60435 or the Plainfield Historical Society, Plainfield, IL 60544. A graveside service was held on Thursday, July 31 at the Plainfield Township Cemetery, Plainfield, IL. Sumner C. Edwards Sr.,
Age 55 years, died Friday, July 25, 2003 at Silver Cross Hospital.
Born in Joliet. J.T.H.S. East (1967). Formerly employed at R.O.W. Windows in Rockdale.
Preceded in death by his parents, Sumner and Barbara Edwards and one brother, Tyrone Edwards.
Sumner is survived by three sons, Sumner Jr., Javier, and Pierre; four daughters, Daraine, Desiree, Rushaun, and Rosalind; two brothers, Gregory and Gerald Edwards, both of Joliet; three sisters, Victoria (David) Beavers of Warrington, Penn., Brenda (Eddie) Smith of Downey, California, and Robin Allen of Joliet; ten grandchildren; nieces, nephews and cousins also survive.
Funeral services will be Saturday 10:00 a.m. at St. John Baptist Church. Rev. Andrew Fuqua officiating. Interment Elmhurst Cemetery. Visitation Saturday 9-10 a.m. at the church.

Amy S. Hilt
Mrs. Harry (Amy S.) Hilt, 90, of Morris, formerly of Lisbon, died Wednesday evening July 30, 2003 at The Grundy County Home in Morris.
Funeral services will be held on Monday at 10:30 a.m. at the Bethlehem Lutheran Church in Morris with Pastor Steven Lombardo officiating. Burial will be in the Lincoln Memorial Park Cemetery near Oswego. Visitation will be held at the Fruland Funeral Home in Morris on Sunday from 4 to 8 p.m.
Born June 17, 1913 in Kendall County, she was a daughter of Severt and Gertrude Markus Severtson. She attended Pleasant View School in Ottawa. On March 25, 1933 she married Harold Hilt in the Lisbon Parsonage. For several years she and her husband Harry owned and operated Hilts Grocery Store in Lisbon. In 1974 they moved to Morris.
She is survived by two sons, Ron (Lucy) Hilt of Willowbrook, IL, Wayne (Donna) Hilt of Glen Ellyn, IL; nine grandchildren; sixteen great-grandchildren; two sisters, Gladys Harter of Elburn, IL, Jeanette McCollum of Beloit, Wisconsin; and many nieces and nephews.
Preceded in death by her parents; her husband in 1999; one son, Don Hilt in 1977; one daughter in infancy; one daughter-in-law, Elaine Hilt in 1977; one grandson, Brett Hilt in 1977; two brothers, Tim and Albert Severtson; and two sisters, Sally Hollenback and Arlene Wicks.
She was a member of the Bethlehem Lutheran Church in Morris and she enjoyed doing crossword puzzles.
Preferred forms of memorials are gifts to the Grundy County Home, Bethlehem Lutheran Church, or donor's choice.
