James F. Matousek
James F. Matousek of Hinsdale died Saturday, May 13, at his home.
Mr. Matousek, 85, was born in Chicago. He was a project quality engineer and worked in quality assurance at Argonne National Laboratory for 33 years until his retirement in 1984. During World War II, he was a captain in the U.S. Army. He served in the technical department from September 1942 through June 1946 at Camp Detrick in Maryland.
Mr. Matousek received his master's degree from the University of Michigan in 1948. He was a longtime member of the Unitarian Church of Hinsdale and a member of the Czech and Slovak American Genealogical Society of Illinois.
He was preceded in death by his sister, Rose Marie Kohout.
Mr. Matousek is survived by his wife, Rose, nee Kasalovsky; his children, Cherie Matousek (Steve) Moline and Lana; and his grandchildren, Cameron, Travis and Allison Kosina.
A memorial service will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday, May 20, at Unitarian Church of Hinsdale, 11 E. Maple St.

Jeffrey Lawrence Piskorz
Jeffrey Lawrence Piskorz of Elmwood Park died Wednesday, May 10, at his home.
Mr. Piskorz, 44, was born Jan. 30, 1962, in Park Ridge. He was a good nephew, cousin and friend.
He was preceded in death by his father, Eugene.
Mr. Piskorz is survived by his mother, Mary of Elmhurst, his brother, Andy Piskorz (fiancee Susan Dean).
A memorial service was held Wednesday, May 17, at Pedersen-Ryberg Mortuary in Elmhurst. Interment was private.

Leo M. Rossi
Leo M. Rossi of Elmhurst died Sunday, May 14, at Elmhurst Memorial Hospital.
Mr. Rossi, 58, was born Aug. 13, 1947, in Oak Park. He was an accountant in the steel industry. Mr. Rossi served in the Air Force from 1965 to 1971. He was a lifelong member of the Boy Scouts of America.
Mr. Rossi is survived by his wife, Kathleen, nee Reid; his children, Michael, John (Janine) and Patrick; his brother, Joseph (Harriet) Rossi; his sisters, Mary Jo (Joe) Furgal and Barbara Rossi; and his many nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be from 3 to 9 p.m. today, Thursday, May 18, at Ahlgrim Funeral Home, 567 S. Spring Road, Elmhurst. A Mass will be said at 9:30 a.m. Friday, May 19, at Visitation Church, 779 S. York Road, Elmhurst. Interment will be at Queen of Heaven Cemetery in Hillside.

Julia A. Roucek
Julia A. Roucek of LaGrange Park died Sunday, May 14, at The British Home in Brookfield.
Mrs. Roucek, 96, was born June 10, 1909, in Cicero. She was a secretary for a manufacturing company.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Casimier and Agnes Kubiak; her husband, Jerry "Jack"; her brother-in-law, Vincent Kubiak; her niece, Loretta Lanphier; her nephew, Sylvester Kubiak; and her nephew-in-law, Robert Micnerski.
Mrs. Roucek is survived by her nieces and nephews, Mildred Micnerski, Edward J. (Marilyn) Kubiak, Loraine Kubiak, Edward (Joan) Kubiak and Arlene (Greg) Lauriano; and her sister-in-law, Helen Kubiak.
Visitation will be from 8:30 to 9 a.m. today, Thursday, May 18, at Hitzeman Funeral Home, 9445 W. 31st St., Brookfield. A funeral will be held at 9:30 a.m. today, Thursday, May 18, at St. Louise de Marillac Church, 1125 Harrison Ave., LaGrange Park. Entombment will be at Bohemian National Cemetery in Chicago.
Dr. John M. Sawicki
Dr. John M. Sawicki of Oak Brook died Tuesday, May 9, at Elmhurst Memorial Hospital.
Mr. Sawicki, 59, was born Jan. 18, 1947, in Blue Island. He received his bachelor's degree in biology from Loyola University and a specialty degree in prosthodontics at the University of Illinois at Chicago. He met his wife at dental school and they married in 1973. Dr. Sawicki was a dentist for the county jail downtown. He was a teacher and mentor to many dentists.
He was an instructor at the University of Illinois College of Dentistry during his post graduate work and after leaving academia, continued to be of counsel for his dental colleagues. In the last seven years, he mentored his daughter-in-law, Paulina Sawicki, who became an associate in his dental practice.
He was preceded in death by his father, Robert; his mother-in-law, Elizabeth Burgar; and his grandparents.
Dr. Sawicki is survived by his mother, Antoinette, nee Miroballi; his wife, Jane E., nee Burgar; his children, Michael (Paulina) and Michelle; and his sister, Roberta Dankert.
A Mass was said Tuesday, May 16, at Visitation Catholic Church in Elmhurst. Entombment was at Queen of Heaven Cemetery in Hillside.
Arrangements were made by Gibbons Elliston Funeral Home in Hinsdale.
Mabel Laura Alma Scaturo
Mabel Laura Alma Scaturo of LaGrange Park died Monday, May 8, at Plymouth Place in LaGrange Park.
Mrs. Scaturo, 91, was born May 11, 1914, in Chicago. She was a homemaker.
She was preceded in death by her parents, August and Bertha Toepper, nee Schech; her husband, Jerome; her four brothers; her sister; and her sister-in-law, Eleanor Toepper.
Mrs. Scaturo is survived by her children, Karen (Jerry) Heller and Douglas (Janis); her grandchildren, Daniel and Andrew Heller, and Michael Scaturo; her great-grandchild, Cooper Heller; her brother, Marvin Toepper; and her niece and nephew, Elaine and Robert Taylor.
A funeral was held Saturday, May 13, at Hitzeman Funeral Home in Brookfield. The Rev. Benjamin Ball officiated. Interment was at Concordia Cemetery in Forest Park.
James J. 'Jimmy' Sweeney III
James J. "Jimmy" Sweeney III of Carver, Mass., died Monday, April 17, in Carver.
Mr. Sweeney, 47, was born Dec. 26, 1958, in Palos Heights. He had a unique sense of humor that endeared him to others. He had many friends from all walks of life. Mr. Sweeney believed humor would carry you through good and bad times. Even through illness, he maintained his sense of humor. Mr. Sweeney's humor, dignity and caring for others was first and foremost in his life.
He was preceded in death by his grandparents, Dr. Leo and Elaine Sweeney, and Emil and Mary Tessari.
Mr. Sweeney is survived by his parents, Lucy (Ron) Hilt of Willowbrook and James J. Sweeney II; his wife Elizabeth "Biz," nee Croke; his children, Jenna, Brandon, Katherine and Jordan; his brother, Jerry (Jean) Sweeney; his sisters, Elaine (Robert) Pagels, Sharon Sweeney (Charles) Nilles and Laura (Gary) Michicich; and his many cousins, nieces and nephews.
A memorial Mass will be said at 12:30 p.m. Saturday, May 20, at St. Alexander's Catholic Church, 7025 W. 126 St., Palos Heights.

Maureen R. Theisen
Maureen R. Theisen, nee Dougherty, a 50-year Lombard resident, died Monday, May 15, in Hinsdale.
Mrs. Theisen, 74, was born Sept. 29, 1931, in Chicago. She was a graduate of College of St. Teresa in Winona, Minn.; and Rosary College in River Forest. She received her master's degree and a certificate of advanced study from Northern Illinois University.
Mrs. Theisen taught at St. Daniel the Prophet School in Chicago from 1955 to 1956, Visitation in Elmhurst from 1956 to 1958, St. Michael's in Wheaton from 1965 to 1966, St. Pius X in Lombard from 1966 to 1974, and Woodland Heights School in Streamwood from 1974 to 2003.
She was preceded in death by her former husband, Michael John Jr., and her granddaughter Maggie.
Mrs. Theisen is survived by her children, Mary (John) Miles of Hinsdale, Anne Boucher, Eileen Schmidt and Patrick (Coleen); her grandchildren, Elizabeth, Cathleen, Irene, Peter and Rita Miles, Mariel Boucher, Kevin, Matthew, Clare and Sean Theisen, and Katie and Douglas Schmidt; her sisters, Gerane Dougherty and Grace (George) Wisdom; her nephews and nieces, Michael (Barb) Wisdom, John Wisdom, Julie (Ken) Nelson, Peter (Janet) Wisdom, Paul (Mary) Wisdom, Steven (Karen) Wisdom and Angie (Paul) Chapa; and her cousins, Bob, Rosanne, Tony (Kate) and Michael Ripper.
Visitation will be from 2 to 9 p.m. Friday, May 19, at Brust Funeral Home, 135 S. Main St., Lombard. A Mass will said be at 9 a.m. Saturday, May 20, at St. Pius X Church, 1025 E. Madison St., Lombard. Interment will be at Sts. Peter and Paul Cemetery in Naperville.

Newton F. True
Newton F. True of Clearwater, Fla. since 1985, formerly of Clarendon Hills, died Wednesday, May 3, at James A. Haley Veterans Affairs Medical Center in Tampa, Fla.
Mr. True, 80, was born March 28, 1926, in Hinsdale. He was a graduate of Chicago Technical College and received his master's degree in business administration from California Western University. He was a mechanical engineer with Sargent & Lundy Engineers in Chicago for 39 years until his retirement.
Mr. True was past president of the Great Lakes Club, On Top of the World in Clearwater and the American Association of Cost Engineers. He was a member of Hinsdale Masonic Lodge 934 since 1964. He was moderator of Men's Forum-Stratford Court, The Hampton of Clearwater. Mr. True served as a Westmont Unit District 201 school board member for 10 years.
He was a World War II Navy veteran, serving as a machinist mate third class aboard U.S.S. The Sullivans DD537 and U.S.S. Sevier APA 233. He was awarded the World War II Victory, World War II American Campaign and World War II Asia/Pacific Campaign medals.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Arthur and Margaret.
Mr. True is survived by his wife of 58 years, Shirley June, nee Dimmitt; his children, Patricia Ann (Ray) Zbylski, Barbara Lynn (Craig) Montalbano and Linda Baker; and his grandchildren, Melinda and Colleen Baker, and Ryan and Justin Montalbano.
A funeral was held Tuesday, May 9, at Toon Funeral Home in Westmont. Interment was at Clarendon Hills Cemetery in Darien.
Robert J. Waters
Robert J. Waters of Oak Brook died Thursday, May 4, at The Villages, Fla.
Mr. Waters, 78, was born April 19, 1928, in Oak Park. He was a U.S. Army veteran.
He was preceded in death by his sister, Nancy (Walter) Legg.
Mr. Waters is survived by his wife, Marilyn, nee Folkers; his children, Laurie (Douglas) Brownson, David and Jeffrey (Patricia); his grandchildren, Richard, Jenny, Rebecca, Sarah and Gregory; his brothers-in-law, Jack (Diane) and Robert (Mary Ann) Folkers; and his nephews and niece, Robert, William and Suzanne.
A memorial service was held Wednesday, May 17, at Elmhurst Presbyterian Church.
