Robert W. Wegener
Robert W. Wegener of LaGrange Park died Sunday, May 14, at Pinnacle of LaGrange Park.
Mr. Wegener, 89, was born Jan. 15, 1917, in Widmore. He was a machinist.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Louis and Amanda.
Mr. Wegener is survived by his wife, Eleanor A. of LaGrange Park; his children, Cheryl (Thomas) Wilson and Bob (Sue); his grandchildren, Chris and Scott Wilson, and Stephen and Matthew Wegener.
A funeral and interment were private.
Arrangements were made by in Hitzeman Funeral Home in Brookfield.
Edmund 'Mr. Ed' Welsch
Edmund "Mr. Ed" Welsch, an Elmhurst resident since 1960, died Sunday, May 14, at Elmhurst Memorial Hospital.
Mr. Welsch, 86, was born Sept. 11, 1919, in Sheboygan, Wis. He retired from Chicago Mold & Engineering, a tool and die company. Mr. Welsch was a World War II U.S. Navy veteran.
He was preceded in death by his sisters, Sophie, Lydia, Elsie and Marie.
Mr. Welsch is survived by his wife, Valeria; his children, James Charles (Sheryl), Michael John and Alan Daryl (Patricia); his stepchildren, John (Beverly) Michelli and Gary (Elizabeth) Michelli; his 17 grandchildren; his 17 great-grandchildren; and his brother, Roland (Connie) Welsch.
A funeral will be held at 10 a.m. today, Thursday, May 18, at Pedersen-Ryberg Mortuary, 435 N. York Road, Elmhurst. Interment will be at Queen of Heaven Cemetery in Hillside.

Agnes R. Barna
Agnes R. (Offenbecher) Barna, 91, a resident of Fort Myers, Fla., and formerly of Naperville, died Saturday, March 31, 2001, at Hope Hospice House in Fort Myers. She was born Sept. 9, 1909, in Europe to John and Rose Offenbecher.
She had been employed as a seamstress for many years at Kroehler Manufacturing Co. in Naperville.
She is survived by a daughter, Bernice (husband Edwin) Lasanska of Cape Coral, Fla.; a son, Robert (wife Joan) Barna of Paw Paw; 11 grandchildren; and 18 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Steve Barna; her parents; and a grandson, Tim Barna.
Private family services were held at McKeown-Dunn Funeral Home inOswego. The Rev. Dan Stempora officiated.
Burial took place at SS Peter and Paul Cemetery in Naperville.
Betty J. Butler
Betty J. (Bootjer) Butler, 80, of Naperville died Wednesday, April 4, 2001, at Tabor Hills Healthcare Center in Naperville. She was born Sept. 22, 1920, in Armour, S.D.
A resident of Naperville since October, she grew up in South Dakota and graduated from high school in Fort Dodge, Iowa. She helped run her family's Chevrolet dealership in Lorimor, Iowa, and received a bachelor's degree from Morningside College in Sioux City, Iowa. She later received a master's degree in education from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign. She spent her career in the field of education, teaching school in Terrill, Iowa, and at Jefferson Junior High School in Aurora. In the mid-1960s, she was employed by the Illinois Department of Education and eventually taught for National-Louis University in Evanston. After her retirement, she worked at the Saks Fifth Avenue store in Evanston. She was a member of the Lake Shore Unitarian Society in Winnetka and was a lover of the arts, especially the Lyric Opera in Chicago and Symphony II of Evanston.
She is survived by two children, Ann B. Van Kempema of North Aurora and Fred A. (wife Colleen G.) Butler of Plano; two grandchildren, Dirk Van Kempema of Pembroke Pines, Fla., and Gretchen Van Kempema of North Aurora; a step-grandson, Clinton Stathis of Yorkville; a dear companion, John Salm of Naperville; and nieces and nephews Marcy Haas, Jeff Bootjer, and Donna, Debbie, Jim and Scott Butler.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Charles W. and Maude Bootjer, and a brother, Jack Bootjer.
Services will begin at 11 a.m., Wednesday, April 18, at the Winnetka Community House, 620 Lincoln Ave., Winnetka.

Robert E. Bonk
Robert E. Bonk, 69, of Las Vegas died Sunday, March 11, 2001, in Las Vegas. He was born Aug. 11, 1931, in Chicago.
A former longtime resident of Woodridge, he was a retired former section chief in telecommunications for Western Electric/AT&T. He was a member of the Telephone Pioneers of America. He was a U.S. Air Force veteran of the Korean conflict.
He is survived by his wife, Barbara Bonk; two daughters, Kathy (husband Mike) Dondero of Las Vegas and Kris (husband Gary) Carlin of Aurora; three grandsons, Jason (wife Amy) Auter of Twentynine Palms, Calif., Joshua Auter of Las Vegas and Brad Carlin of Aurora; two great-grandchildren, Peyton and Tyler Auter of Twentynine Palms; and a brother-in-law, Jerry (wife Sylvia) Herman of Wadena, Minn.
A memorial service took place Thursday, March 15, at Palm Mortuary-Cheyenne in Las Vegas.

Hugh T. Cummings
Hugh T. Cummings, 60, of Naperville died Tuesday, April 3, 2001, at Rush-Presbyterian-St. Luke's Medical Center in Chicago. He was born March 6, 1941, in Chicago.
He had been a resident of Naperville since 1980. He was employed with Bank of America in Chicago for more than 35 years.
He is survived by his wife, Leslie A. (Meyer) Cummings; two daughters, Elizabeth and Patricia Cummings of Naperville; his mother, Margaret A. Schram; a sister, Margaret Burke of Naperville; a brother, Patrick (wife Judy) Cummings; and many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his son, Hugh W. Cummings; a brother, Arthur Cummings; a sister, Mary Vitale; and his father, Arthur B. Cummings.
Visitation will take place from 4 to 8 p.m. Thursday, April 5, at Friedrich-Jones Funeral Home, 44 S. Mill St., Naperville.
A funeral service will begin with prayers at 9:45 a.m. Friday, April 6, and proceed to St. Thomas the Apostle Church, 1500 Brookdale Road, Naperville, for a 10:30 a.m. Mass.
Interment will take place at SS Peter and Paul Cemetery in Naperville.

James E. Derrico
James E. Derrico, 73, of Naperville died March 30, 2001, in his Naperville home. He was born May 19, 1927, in Chicago.
He was a line dispatcher for Ameritech. He was a Navy veteran of World War II. He was a member and past president of Vaughan Chapter of Paralyzed Veterans of America and a member of the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers and Telephone Pioneers of America.
He is survived by his wife, Irene (Meneghini); two children, Deborah A. (husband Brad) Bourne and James L. (wife Deann); six grandchildren; and a brother, Thomas Derrico.
A Mass of Christian burial took place Tuesday, April 3, at St. Margaret Mary Church in Naperville.
Interment was at SS Peter and Paul Cemetery in Naperville.

June A. Belt
June A. (Gilchrist) Belt, 65, of Las Vegas and a resident of Naperville from 1935 to 1975, died Friday, March 23, 2001, in Las Vegas. She was born Dec. 20, 1935, in Aurora.
She had been a hairdresser, a factory worker and a homemaker.
She is survived by her husband, George, of Las Vegas; a son, William Belt of Sacramento, Calif.; two daughters, Elizabeth (husband Larry) Thorson of Morris and Barbara (husband George) Wolfe of San Diego; two grandchildren, Jaclyn and Jonathan Wolfe; a sister, Joyce Roehlk of St. Charles; and three sisters-in-law, Louise Gilchrist of Aurora and Ann Mennenoh and Carrie Belt, both of Morrison.
She was preceded in death by a brother, Delmar Gilchrist; a sister, Jane Gilchrist; and a niece, Robin Barker.
A memorial service took place Saturday, March 24, in Las Vegas.
Julia Constantine
Julia (Gliarmis) Constantine, 75, of Naperville died Wednesday, March 28, 2001, at Edward Hospital in Naperville. She was born July 15, 1925, in Wilson, N.C.
She taught school in Naperville for more than 30 years. She was chairwoman of the social studies department at Lincoln Junior High School and co-author of a curriculum guide on the Civil War, one of her favorite subjects. She taught about the war with flair and enthusiasm as many of her students remember to this day. She began teaching Naperville's students as a fourth-grade teacher at Ellsworth Elementary School. She served as president of Naperville Unit Education 203 before retiring in 1985.
She was active in the community as a volunteer at Edward Hospital for many years as a greeter and in the Sundries Shop.
She earned her bachelor's degree in history from Atlantic Christian College in Wilson, N.C., and her master's degree in history from Duke University in Durham, N.C. She was inducted into Kappa Delta Pi, an honor society in education.
She and her family were deeply committed to education. Her husband, G.A. Constantine, Ph.D., a retired professor emeritus at North Central College and chairman of the education department, taught and placed hundreds of student teachers throughout the state.
She was active in her church, St. Athanasios Greek Orthodox Church in Aurora, and served as grand president of the Daughters of Penelope, a national Hellenic philanthropic organization, in 1989.
She is survived by her husband, Dr. G.A. Constantine of Naperville; a daughter, Andrea (husband John) Wassel of Chicago; a son, Andrew Constantine of New Jersey; and two grandsons, Bill (wife Tracey) Collins of Naperville and George Wassel of Chicago.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Kostas Demetrios and Mary (Loulas) Gliarmis.
Visitation was held Friday, March 30, at Beidelman-Kunsch Funeral Home in Naperville.
A funeral service was held Saturday, March 31, at St. Athanasios Greek Orthodox Church in Aurora.
Entombment was at Elmwood Cemetery in River Grove.
