Emma T. Mandolini
A funeral Mass for Emma T. Mandolini (nee Pastorino), 88, of Des Plaines, was celebrated April 17, 2001 at St. Colette Church, Rolling Meadows. born Aug. 1, 1912, in Chicago, she died April 13, 2001 at Northwest Community Hospital, Arlington Heights.
Mrs. Mandolini was a receptionist for a doctor’s office for many years. She is survived by a sister, Marie Art; a brother, John Pastorino; a nephew, Robert Flosi; and a niece, Gloria Langos.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Harry; a sister, Jeanette Barryte; and a brother, James Pastorino.
Entombment was in Queen of Heaven Cemetery, Hillside. Memorial contributions may be made to the Hospice of Northeastern Illinois, 410 S. Hager St., Barrington IL 60010. Arrangements were made with Meadows Funeral Home, Rolling Meadows.
Jozef Pasternak
Jozef A. Pasternak, 79, longtime resident of Des Plaines, died on April 17, 2001 in the Hines VA Hospital.
Mr. Pasternak was a printer for J.J. Collins in Melrose Park for 15 years. He served with the Polish Paratroopers during World War II, was president of the Polish Paratroopers Association of Chicago and vice president of the 82nd Airborne Division, Chicago Chapter.
He is survived by his wife, Jozina; children, Jake of Chicago, Walt of Scottsdale, Ariz., Liz (Don) Brennan of Wheeling and Tina (Bill) Christie of Des Plaines; grandchildren, Cory and Emily Brennan, Chase and Clarie Christie; and sister, Elizabeth Chepil of Philadelphia, Pa.
Funeral service was held on April 22, 2001 in Oehler Funeral Home, Des Plaines. Burial was private.
Carole L. Schultz
A funeral Mass for Carole L. Schultz (nee Kiesel) of Barrington, formerly of Des Plaines, was celebrated April 17, 2001 at St. Anne Church, Barrington. Interment was private. She died April 10, 2001 at her home.
Mrs. Schultz was the vice president of Starck Relocation Center in Palatine, where she was employed for 14 years. She was the condo association president of Lake Barrington Shores from 1983 until 1987; on the board of Relocation Director’s Council; president of corporate Relocation Council; a longstanding member of employee Relocation Council, where she received the distinguished service award; former chairwoman of Relo Corporate Services Council; and a member of the Relocation Resources Advisory Board and the Chicago Chamber of Commerce Youth Motivation Council. She served on the Mobility Advisory Staff and was a speaker at network national conventions.
Mrs. Schultz is survived by her husband, Jack, whom she married May 21, 1960, in Park Ridge; two children, Donna of Chicago and Dana of Mundelein; granddaughter Kristin of Mundelein; her father, Ben Kiesel of Palatine; a sister, Lorraine (John) Reda of Palatine; and nieces and nephews Linda (Jim) Olson of Arlington Heights, John (Phyllis) Reda of Park Ridge and Catherine (John) Maslanka of Palatine.
She was preceded in death by her mother, Sally.
Arrangements were made with Davenport Family Funeral Home, Barrington.
Virginia Wapole
Virginia K. (nee Krohn) Wapole, 83, of Chicago’s Northwest Side, died April 5, 2001 at Resurrection Medical Center, Chicago. She had lived several years at Resurrection Retirement Community.
Visitation was held April 9, 2001 at the M.J. Suerth Funeral Home, Chicago. Her funeral Mass was held April 10, 2001 at St. Paul of the Cross Catholic Church, Park Ridge, celebrated by the Rev. Robert Rizzo, associate pastor and a family friend. Interment was at All Saints Cemetery, Des Plaines.
Mrs. Wapole was preceded in death by her husband, Francis; a sister, Elinor (Robert) Post, and a brother, Perry (Betty Lou) Krohn. She is survived by her children, Michaele (Dr. Ernest) Skowron of Mount Prospect, Sharon (Glen) Phillips of Park Ridge, Francis (Patricia) of Barrington, Roderick (Laura) of Elgin, Gayle (Chris) Banakis of Palatine, Brian of Schaumburg and Claire (fiance of James Conway) of Chicago; grandchildren Jennifer (Donald) Szczesniak, Andrea (Daniel) O'Brien, Heather (fiance Leo Sinense) Phillips, Melissa (Michael) Damewood, Alison Phillips, Colleen (Michael Pastreich) Wapole, Eric (KarenAnn) Wapole, Frank Wapole, Shannon Wapole, Kathryn Banakis, Ellen Banakis, Margo Banakis and Alexander Conway; four great-grandchildren; and a brother, Roderick (Barbara) Krohn.
Barbara J. Cottini
Barbara J. Cottini, nee Benson, 56, of Glenview, died Sept. 18, 2003, in Antioch.
Mrs. Cottini was born Sept. 24, 1946 in Chicago. She was a longtime employee at Cummins-Allison Corp. in Mount Prospect. She was an avid golfer and bowler.
Survivors include her husband, Dennis, of Glenview; her mother, Lorraine; a daughter, Kim (Jack) Sanders; three grandchildren, Tabitha, Jack and Cate; a sister, Donna (Greg) Mierzejewski; a brother, Bob (Karen) Benson; and her mother-in-law, Julie Cottini.
Mrs. Cottini was preceded in death by her father, Robert Benson; and her father-in-law, Dante Cottini.
Visitation was held Sunday, Sept. 21, 2003, and was followed by services on Monday, Sept. 22, 2003, at N. H. Scott & Hebblethwaite Funeral Home in Glenview. Interment was in Elmwood Cemetery, River Grove.

Magdalene Johann
Magdalene "Leni" Johann (nee Peters), 97, of Arlington heights, formerly of Fox Lake and Des Plaines, died Sept. 18, 2003 at the Lutheran Home in Arlington Heights. She was born April 3, 1906, in Meclenburg, Germany, and grew up in Berlin.
Mrs. Johann and her husband, the late Adolph, were owners of the Wisconsin Farm Store in Des Plaines for many years. She is survived by her daughter, Margaret (Andrew) Porto; her grandchildren, Dr. Susan (Emelio) Escopeto, Dennis (Cathy) Porto, Debbie (Steve) Savage, Andrew (Wendy) Porto and Pamela (David) Boyle; 13 great-grandchildren; and a cousin, Gerda Rosenwinkel.
Services were held Sept. 23, 2003 at the Lutheran Home. Enbombment was in All Saints Cemetery, Des Plaines. Memorial contributions may be made to the Lutheran Home, 800 W. Oakton St., Arlington Heights. Arrangements were made with Meadows Funeral Home, Rolling Meadows.
Genevieve Kolak
Genevieve (nee Korczykowski) Kolak, 77, of Des Plaines died on Sept. 21, 2003 at Glenbridge Rehab and Nursing Home.
Preceded in death by her husband, William, she is survived by her brother-in-law, Leonard (Dolores) Kolak; sisters-in-law, Lottie Twayne and Helen Vstic and many nieces and nephews.
Funeral service was held on Sept. 24, 2003 in Oehler Funeral Home, Des Plaines. Burial was in St. Adalbert Cemetery, Niles.
Carolyn Navarro
Carolyn L. (nee Pulcinski) Navarro, 66, of Des Plaines died on Sept. 24, 2003 in Holy Family Medical Center.
Mrs. Navarro had worked as a keypunch operator for the National Association of Independent Insurance, Des Plaines.
Survivors include her husband, Luis; mother, Amelia and many nieces and nephews.
Funeral service and burial were private.
Arrangements were handled by Oehler Funeral Home, Des Plaines.
Harriet Ohlrogge
Harriet Loraine (nee Beyer) Ohlrogge, 85, of Evanston, died Sept. 20, 2003 at Presbyterian Homes in Evanston.
Born Oct. 23, 1917, in Dubuque, Iowa, she received a bachelor of science degree in foods and nutrition from Iowa State University at Ames in 1939 and a master of science degree in home economics from Purdue University in Lafayette, Ind., in 1943.
She married Alvin Ohlrogge, who preceded her in death, on Sept. 9, 1944.
In addition to raising her two children, Mrs. Ohlrogge worked as a home economist for Purdue University's residence halls, taught piano, was active as a church volunteer, shared her musical talents with a children's theater group, traveled throughout the world, read avidly and enjoyed playing bridge.
She and her husband opened their home to many visitors, including several students from foreign countries.
While living in Karachi, Pakistan, in 1952, she volunteered at a refugee service program.
According to relatives, although Mrs. Ohlrogge struggled with numerous physical disabilities, she maintained an unfailing positive outlook and focus on helping others. She was admired for her gift for the "art of living and loving."
Survivors include daughter Ann O. (C. Thomas) Johnson of Evanston; son John B. (Carol R.) of Okemos, Mich.; and four grandchildren.
A memorial service was held Sept. 26, 2003 in the Elliott Chapel at Presbyterian Homes In Evanston, interment was private.

Anneliese Paust
Anneliese Paust, 83, of Des Plaines, died on Sept. 14, 2003 in Advocate Lutheran General Hospital, Park Ridge.
Mrs. Paust had been a bookkeeper.
She is survived by her daughter, Heidi (Constantine) Kanavos of Niles and grandson, Stephen Kanavos.
Funeral service was held on Sept. 17, 2003 in Skaja Terrace Funeral Home, Niles. Burial was private.
Kathryn Duello
Kathryn M. Duello, 56, of Park Ridge died on Nov. 30, 2003 in her home.
She was a teacher for 32 years at Orchard Place School in Des Plaines.
Survivors include her sisters, Jane (John) Gallick of South Beloit and Mary Beth (Stephen) Riedner of Schaumburg.
Visitation was held in N.H. Scott & Hebblethwaite Funeral Home, Glenview. Funeral Mass was celebrated on Dec. 3, 2003 in Our Lady of Perpetual Help Church, Glenview. Burial was in All Saints Cemetery, Des Plaines.

Lillian M. Frank
Funeral services for Lillian M. Frank (nee Andring) of Arlington Heights, were held Dec. 1, 2003 at St. Peter Lutheran Church, Arlington Heights. born March 26, 1919, in Maine Township, she died Nov. 27, 2003 at Lutheran General Hospital, Park Ridge.
Mrs. Frank was a homemaker. She is survived by her husband of 62 years, Alfred H., whom she married July 6, 1940; two daughters, Janet (James) Klamer of Lodi, Wis., and Linda (Steve) Horsch of Elk Grove Village; her grandchildren, Reed Hadley, Robin (Peter) Christianson, Chad Klamer, Troy (Lucy) Heishman, Paul and Amy Horsch; her great-grandchildren, Andrew and Carson; and her sisters, Lorraine Guenther of Des Plaines and Phyllis Hoffman of West Chicago.
She was preceded in death by her parents, John and Rose (nee Willard) Andring.
