Belle Ritter
Belle M. Ritter, a resident of Evanston for 55 years, died April 22, 2001 in Evanston. She was 84.
She was born Nov. 20, 1916 in Des Moines, Iowa.
She worked for State Bank, now Banc One.
Known throughout Evanston as she walked her Yorkie dog, Sam, she was a very spiritual person. During the holidays, she opened her home to Northwestern University students.
Survivors include daughter Beth Ritter (Steve) Joyce and three grandchildren.
A private memorial service was held April 21.
Rose Ravenna
Rose Ravenna, 87, of Lincolnwood, a former longtime resident of Evanston, died May 6, 2001.
Mrs. Ravenna was a homemaker.
Survivors include daughter Joan Ravenna of Evanston, son Paul of Florida, four grandchildren, and sister Lillian Snitoff.
Service was May 9 at Weinstein Family Services in Wilmette.
Interment was private.
Stella Rzepecki
Stella Rzepecki, 81, of Evanston, died May 3, 2001 at St. Francis Hospital. She was 81.
Mrs. Rzepecki was a homemaker.
She was a former member of Ascension of Our Lord Roman Catholic Church in Evanston.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Kazimierz.
Survivors include daughter Christine, son Joseph and five brothers and sisters.
Funeral services and interment were private.

Dorothy Weber
A memorial Mass is scheduled to be celebrated for Dorothy N. (nee Mulcron) Weber at 7 p.m. May 17, 2001 at St. Nicholas Roman Catholic Church, 806 Ridge Ave. in Evanston.
Mrs. Weber, 80, a native and longtime resident of Evanston, died April 28, 2001 at the Wagner Health Center in Evanston.
She was born July 6, 1920.
Mrs. Weber was a retired bookkeeper.
During World War II she was a model for many local department stores along with her sister, Mary Ellen. Mrs. Weber also dedicated many naval ships that were built on the Great Lakes.
She was a member of St. Nicholas Church in Evanston.
Survivors include her husband, Stephan Weber; daughters Mary Ann (Chris) Ivaliotes of Woodstock Ga., Sandra (Bill) Gunther of Glenview and Kathleen (Richard) Mack of Evanston; sons Steve (Dee) Weber of Charlotte, N.C., and William (Helene) Weber of Buffalo Grove; 13 grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.
Interment will be private.

Edward Wierzba
Edward Wierzba, 78, of Evanston, formerly of Skokie, died April 30, 2001 at the Swedish Retirement Association in Evanston.
Mr. Wierzba was a machinist for Chicago Rawhide Co. He served in the U.S. Army during World War II.
Survivors include his wife Alice, sisters Loraine Piecuch and Gertrude Wierzba, many nieces and nephews.
Visitation was May 2 at Haben Funeral Home in Skokie. Service was May 3 from Haben Funeral Home to St. Joan of Arc Church, for celebration of Funeral Mass. Interment was in All Saints Cemetery in Des Plaines.

Floy Blake
Floy Mae (nee Jordan) Blake, a resident of Evanston for 30 years and formerly of the Rogers Park neighborhood of Chicago, died May 6 at Evanston Hospital. She was 82.
She was born Jan. 31, 1919, in Carrollton, Ga.
Mrs. Blake worked as a civilian personal secretary with the U.S. Army Corps of engineers while she lived in Atlanta, Ga. Upon moving to Chicago, she was employed with the Fanny May Candy Co., until reuniting with the Corps of Engineers to continue her longtime civil service career.
She was a former member of the Chicago Tall Girls Club.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Donald F.
Survivors include three nieces and two nephews.
A memorial service was held May 9 at Donnellan Family Funeral Home in Evanston, with interment in Memorial Park Cemetery, Skokie.
Katherine Graham
A memorial service for Katherine Jeanette (nee Frazier) Graham of Seattle, a former longtime resident of Evanston, is scheduled for 7 p.m. June 15 at Second Baptist Church, 1717 Benson Ave. She was 79.
She was born May 9, 1921, in Chicago and lived in Evanston until 1997, when she relocated to Seattle to be closer to her son.
Survivors include son William (Constance) of Seattle; brothers Leotis Frazier and Wilbert Frazier, both of Evanston; a twin sister, Cindy Duggard of Fort Washington, Md.; three grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.
Her friends are invited to attend the service, which will be presided over by the Rev. Hycel B. Taylor.
Edgell Dixon
Edgell Elizabeth Dixon, a longtime resident of Evanston, died April 18 at St. Francis Hospital. She was 81.
She was born Oct. 9, 1919 in Bowling Green, Mo.
Mrs. Dixon was employed by the U.S. Government. Later, she started another career at Wyeth Laboratories and was there for many years until her retirement.
She had an active social life, and was a member of the former Monsieur & Madam Social Club, a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars, an avid dancer and enjoyed beautiful clothes.
She was a member of Second Baptist Church of Evanston.
She was preceded in death by her first husband, James Hill.
Survivors include her second husband, Jesse A. Sr.; stepdaughters Deloris Shackelford of Chicago and Joan C. Roseborough of Las Vegas; stepson Jesse A. Dixon Jr. of Chicago; several grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great-children; brother Lloyd (Irma) Turner of Rantoul, Ill.; sister May (Bedford) Hayes of Evanston; six nieces; and two nephews.
Funeral services were held April 27 at Memorial Park Mausoleum in Skokie, with entombment in Memorial Park Cemetery, Skokie.
Grace V. Gerfen
Mrs. Grace V. Gerfen, a longtime resident of Evanston, died May 7 in Evanston. She was 87.
She was born May 29, 1913, in St. Louis.
She was a member of Covenant United Methodist Church in Evanston.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Richard.
Survivors include son David (Geraldine), daughters Susan (David) Ray and Barbara Culbreth, one grandchild and a brother, Charles (Marge) Beardsley.
A memorial service was held May 14 at Covenant United Methodist Church in Evanston. Interment was private.

Jennie Hemphill
Jennie M. Hemphill of Chicago, a former resident of Evanston, died April 29 in the Buckingham Pavilion Nursing Center in Chicago. She was 98.
She was born Dec. 5, 1902, in Nashville, Tenn.
Miss Hemphill worked as an assistant to a podiatrist. She also owned a real estate business until 1986.
Miss Hemphill was an accomplished seamstress and enjoyed working with flowers.
Survivors include one nephew and one niece.
Funeral services were held May 3 at the House of Thompson Mortuary in Evanston, with interment in Sunset Memorial Lawns in Northbrook.
James Loizzo
James W. Loizzo, a lifelong resident of Evanston, died May 10 at the Hospice of the North Shore Inpatient Unit in Skokie. He was 80.
Born Sept. 8, 1920, he was a T. Sgt. in the Armed Services during World War II.
Mr. Loizzo was an Evanston firefighter for 16 years. When he retired from the Evanston Police Department, he became owner of the Peterson Screen Co. in Evanston, where he worked part-time for years.
He was a member of St. Joseph’s Catholic Church in Wilmette.
Survivors include his wife, Florence, and many nieces, nephews, great and great-great nieces and nephews.
A memorial mass was celebrated May 14 at St. Joseph’s Church in Wilmette, with interment in All Saints Cemetery, Des Plaines.
