Patsy Brown
Patsy Louise Brown of Prospect Heights, a former longtime resident of Evanston, died May 13, 2001 in Prospect Heights. She was 75.She was born Dec. 1, 1925, in Halifax County, Va.
Mrs. Brown was a health- care provider, working at the Swedish Retirement Association in Evanston for many years.She later worked worked at Micro Systems in Evanston and retired after 24 years.
She was a longtime member of Second Baptist Church in Evanston. She enjoyed traveling and became an avid fisherman.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Alvin. Survivors include sons Robert Lee (Renee) of Prospect Heights and James of Milwaukee; sister Rosa Goode of Suitland, Md., brother Samuel Davis of Niles; five grandchildren; one uncle; and many cousins, nieces, nephews and other relatives.
Funeral services were held May 18 at Second Baptist Church in Evanston, with interment in Sunset Memorial Lawns in Northbrook.
Iris Busse
Iris G. Busse of Indianapolis, a former resident of Evanston, died May 25, 2001 at St. Vincent Hospital in Carmel, Ind. She was 84.
Mrs. Busse worked as a bookkeeper at Evanston Hospital for 10 years until her reirement in 1982.
She was a member of the Women’s Republican Group in Evanston and the Lady Elks in Evanston. She was a member of St. Mark’s Episcopal Church in Evanston.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Robert E. Survivors include daughter Nancy Duccette of Indianapolis and one grandchild.
Graveside services were held May 30 at Memorial Park Cemetery in Skokie, where interment took place.

James W. Good Jr.
Former North Shore resident James William Good Jr., a corporate and estate planning attorney in Chicago for 41 years, died May 5, 2001 in Palm Beach Gardens, Fla. He was 90.
Born in Cedar Rapids, Iowa, he later moved to Evanston. He also spent several years in Washington, D.C., when his father was a congressman from Cedar Rapids and later Secretary of War under President Herbert Hoover.
After graduating from Evanston Township High School, Mr. Good received degrees from Northwestern University and Northwestern School of Law. During World War II he served as an officer in the U.S. Navy.
He lived in Wilmette and Winnetka until retirement when he moved to Pinehurst, N.C. in 1979 and recently to Stuart, Fla., and Palm Beach Gardens. Mr. Good attained the rank of Eagle Scout. He was a national park ranger during college. He had a lifelong involvement in Phi Kappa Psi fraternity.
He was preceded in death by his first wife, Virginia, and a brother, Robert E. Good. Survivors include his wife, Marjorie S. of Palm Beach Gardens; a son, James W. (Ann) Good III of Northbrook; a daughter, Jane G. (Paul) Upchurch of Glen Arbor, Mich.; five grandchildren; and 10 great-grandchildren.
Funeral services were May 8 in Palm Beach, and interment was in Pinehurst, N.C. Memorial contributions may be made to the charity of one’s choice.
Ernest Greenberger
Ernest Greenberger, 78, of Evanston, died May 26, 2001 at St. Francis in Evanston.
Survivors include his wife, Stacia (“Stacey”); sons James (Ellen) and Daniel; three grandchildren; and a brother, Alex (Leah).
Funeral services were held May 30 at the Piser Chapel in Skokie, with interment in Memorial Part Cemetery, Skokie.

Howard Greene
Howard Lyle Greene, a longtime resident of Evanston, died May 18, 2001 at his home. He was 88.
He was born March 31, 1913, in Earlville, Ill., and spent most of his childhood and early working years in Joliet.
Mr. Greene served as a vice president and later president of the J.L. Ferguson Co. in Joliet.
In 1951 he took over the presidency of Peters Machinery Co. in Chicago and served in that capacity for 45 years.
Both companies designed and manufactured packaging machinery. He worked until age 83.
Survivors include his wife, Helen Jean (nee Koenig); daughters Barbara E. Greene of Crawfordville, Fla., Margaret A. Greene of New Orleans; son Howard Jr. (Corlee A.) of Dayton, Ohio; and two grandchildren.
Funeral services were held May 21 at Donnellan Family Funeral Home in Evanston. Interment was private.

Robert John Jensen
Robert John Jensen, 80, of Evanston died May 19, 2001 in Evanston Hospital.
Mr. Jensen, who was born Aug. 12, 1920, in Chicago, previously lived in Winnetka for 17 years.
He graduated in 1948 from the University of Illinois in Urbana-Champaign, where he was a member of the Delta Chi fraternity.
He joined the Chicago Black Horse Troop and served in World War II in the U.S. Army.
In October 1944 he was wounded while serving in the European Theater. He spent two years in an Army hospital and in 1946 retired as a captain.
He received the Purple Heart, Silver Star, Bronze Star and a medal for participating in the Normandy campaign.
Survivors include his wife, Frances (nee Legg); a daughter, Joan (Thomas) Ritsch of Winnetka; and a granddaughter, Margaret Norris.
Funeral services and interment were private.

James Loizzo
James W. Loizzo, a lifelong resident of Evanston, died May 10, 2001 at the Hospice of the North Shore Inpatient Unit in Skokie. He was 80.
Born Sept. 8, 1920, he was a technical sergeant in the Armed Services during World War II.
Mr. Loizzo was an Evanston firefighter for 16 years.
When he retired from the Evanston Fire Department, he became owner of the Peterson Screen Co. in Evanston, where he worked part-time for years.
He was a member of St. Joseph’s Roman Catholic Church in Wilmette.
Survivors include his wife, Florence, and many nieces, nephews, great- and great-great-nieces and nephews.
A memorial Mass was celebrated May 14 at St. Joseph’s Church in Wilmette, with interment in All Saints Cemetery in Des Plaines.

Jeanette L. Ludmann
Jeanette L. Ludmann (nee Kanies), 77, of Evanston, died May 18, 2001 at St. Paul House in Chicago.
A Chicago native, she retired after 51 years from the Chicago Transit Authority as a head cashier.
She was a member of the Steinmetz High School Alumni Association.
Mrs. Ludmann was preceded in death by her husband, Oscar H.
Visitation was held at the M.J. Suerth Funeral Home, Chicago, on May 25, preceding an evening funeral service.
The Rev. Margaret Wise, chaplain of St. Paul House, and the Rev. Carol Moseley of St. Paul United Church of Christ, officiated at the service.
Interment was private.

Timothy McGuire
Timothy John McGuire of Evanston died May 17, 2001 at his family’s home in Evanston. He was 22.
He attended Washington Elementary School, Nichols Middle School and Evanston Township High School, graduating in 1997.
Mr. McGuire enjoyed sports. He played soccer with the Pele Stars, Team Evanston and the ETHS team, for which he was a captain. He also played basketball for the Nichols Middle School team, McGaw YMCA’s Middle School basketball program and the Fellowship of African-American Men.
He also enjoyed baseball and most anything athletic, and participated in many youth sports organizations as both a player and coach.
In his youth, he also was very involved in many activities and programs at Evanston’s McGaw YMCA, including Brillianteen and the City Youth and Government program.
While attending Skidmore College, he took his enthusiasm for sports and applied them to writing as the author of a sports column titled “Fire from McGuire,” which ran weekly in the campus student newspaper.
After spending the fall 1999 semester studying in Ireland, Mr. McGuire was on semester break from his junior year at Skidmore College, where he was on a honors student.
Survivors include his parents, John and Judith; sister Jessie; and a large family of cousins, aunts, uncles and friends.
Funeral services were held May 16, 2001 at St. Margaret Mary’s Roman Catholic Church.

Dr. Laurence Muench
Dr. Laurence Walter Muench of Kings Mountain, N.C., a former resident of Evanston, died May 16, 2001 at Cleveland Regional Medical Center in Shelby, N.C. He was 64. born in St. Louis, he grew up in Evanston, where he became an Eagle Scout.
He graduated from Evanston Township High School, where he was a national finalist in the Westinghouse Science Talent Search and where he later was inducted in the Sports Hall of Fame. He was an Illinois Scholar at Trinity College in Hartford, Conn., where he was captain of the swimming team and graduated with a bachelor of science degree.
He was a member of Phi Beta Kappa honorary society. He earned his medical degree at Washington University in St. Louis, served a rotating intership at Case Western Reserve University in Cleveland and a residency in surgery and anesthesiology at Washington University in St. Louis.
He served in the Vietnam War as a flight surgeon in the U.S. Air Force, with the rank of captain, and was based in Okinawa, Japan.
Dr. Muench practiced anesthesiology in Denver, Colorado Springs, Colo., Sioux City, Iowa, Kansas City, Mo. He served as chief of anesthesiology at Kings Mountain Hospital.
He was certified by the American Board of Anesthesiology, and was a member of the American Society of Anesthesiologists, American Medical Association, North Carolina Medical Association, and the Cleveland County Medical Society.
A member of Trinity Episcopal Church in Kings Mountain, he served as treasurer, vestry member and a licensed lay reader.He was a member of the Gaston Choral Society.
Survivors include his wife, Esther (nee Moulthrop); sons Jeffrey E. of Philadelphia, James F. (Frances Guthrie) of Columbia, Mo.; daughter Jennifer Lynn Muench (Neill M.) Laney of Franklinton, N.C.; brother Karl of Miami; sister Ruth Ann Muench Williams of Evanston; and two grandchildren.
A memorial service was held May 19 at Resurrection Lutheran Church in Kings Mountain.
