Joseph Paprocki
Joseph C. Paprocki of Chicago, a native and former resident of Evanston for 18 years, died May 23, 2001 at his home. He was 79.He was born March 6, 1922.
A veteran of World War II, he was very supportive to disabled veterans, giving much of himself to that cause.
Mr. Paprocki was a maintenance engineer for the city of Evanston. He was a member of the former Ascension of Our Lord Roman Catholic Church in Evanston and later St. Mary’s Roman Catholic Church in Evanston.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Dola. Survivors include one nephew, three nieces and two great-nephews.
A funeral Mass was celebrated May 29 at St. Mary’s Church in Evanston, with interment in Maryhill Cemetery in Niles.
Frank W. Pirruccello
Frank W. Pirruccello, MD, 79, of Libertyville and Baraboo, Wisc., died suddenly May 17, 2001 at St. Clare Hospital in Baraboo.He was born Aug. 10, 1921 in Omaha, Nebraska to Anthony and Nunziata (Breci) Pirruccello.
He received his undergraduate degree from Creighton University and his M.D. from the University of Nebraska Medical School in 1945.
Dr. Pirruccello’s affiliations were: a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church in Libertyville; Surgeon-In-Chief, Northwestern University Cleft Palate Institute; Clinical Associate Professor, Plastic Surgery, Northwestern University Medical School; Clinical Associate Professor, Northwestern University Dental School; Clinical Professor, Plastic Surgery, University of Wisconsin, Madison; Chief, Division of Plastic Surgery, Evanston Hospital; Senior Staff, St. Francis Hospital, Evanston; Plastic Surgeon in Charge, Shriner’s Hospital for Crippled Children; Diplomat, American Board of Plastic Surgery; The American Board of Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery, Inc; Fellow, American College of Surgeons; The American Society of Aesthetic Plastic Surgery, Inc. and The American Society of Maxillofacial Surgeons.
He is survived by his wife Marilyn (nee Hanson), who he married in Moline in 1949; eight children, Frank II (Ann) of Northbrook, Bo (Debbie) of Libertyville, Lynn (Jerry) Kanter of Laguna Nigel, Calif., Susan Wheeler of Stoughton, Wisc., Jill (Al) Bellanca of Laguna Nigel, Calif., Dr. Ann (Daniel Sheahan) Pirruccello of San Diego, Calif., Stephen of Libertyville and John of Chicago. Twelve grandchildren, Frank III, Emily, John, Sam and James Pirruccello, Michael and Kristin Kanter, Matthew and Ann Wheeler, Stephen, James and Alex Vierra; his brother, Sam (Robyn) of Augusta, Maine. He was preceded in death by his parents and eight brothers and sisters.
Prayers began May 22 at the Burnett-Dane Funeral Home, Libertyville, and continued to St. Joseph Church for funeral mass. Interment followed in Ascension Cemetery.

Elizabeth Burns
Elizabeth Burns of Coral Springs, Fla., a former longtime resident of Evanston, died May 23, 2004 in Coral Springs. She was 87.
Mrs. Burns moved to Florida with her husband, Robert P., in 1992. Mr. Burns preceded his wife in death.
Survivors include daughter Patricia A.; three grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.
A private funeral service was held May 29 at Kraeer Funeral Home in Margate, Fla., with interment in Memorial Park Cemetery, Skokie.

Brandon Goldman
Brandon Goldman, 20, a resident of Wilmette, died May 23, 2004 at Lutheran General Hospital in Park Ridge.
Mr. Goldman was born Dec. 28, 1983, in Evanston. He worked as a laborer in the construction industry.
A memorial service was held on Thursday, May 27 at Colonial - Wojciechowski Funeral Home in Niles.
Interment was at Randhill Park Cemetery in Arlington Heights.
Michael Papangelis
Visitation for Michael Peter Papangelis of Evanston is scheduled from 4 to 8 p.m. today (June 3, 2004) at Donnellan Family Funeral Home, 1571 Maple Ave., Evanston.
Mr. Papangelis, 43, died May 28 in Niles.
A professional bridge director, Mr. Papangelis conducted duplicate bridge games in various North Shore locations. He earned his Life Master bridge level in one year and was the 1995 Player of the Year in the American Contract Bridge League.
According to relatives, Mr. Papangelis was a gifted teacher who taught many individuals and groups the intricacies of the game of bridge. He also enjoyed traveling; for several years he saw the world by teaching bridge on cruise ships.
In 2002, he made an around-the-world cruise on the Radisson Cruise Line's Sea Voyager, relatives said.
An opera enthusiast, Mr. Papangelis supported the Chicago Lyric Opera, as well as the Hawaii Opera Company in Honolulu.
He was preceded in death by his father, Gus.
Survivors include his mother, Betty, a former alderman for Evanston's 8th Ward; one uncle; and one aunt.
Funeral services are to be private, with interment in Caersalem Cemetery in Wild Rose, Wis.

Sylvia Robbins
Sylvia Eva Robbins of Evanston, a former resident of Skokie, died May 24, 2004 at St. Francis Hospital in Evanston. She was 78.
Mrs. Robbins owned and operated Athenaeum Bookstore in Evanston.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Morton.
Survivors include daughter Leslie (Daniel McNeil) Robbins and one grandchild.
Funeral services were held May 27 at the Piser Chapel in Skokie, with interment in Memorial Park Cemetery, Skokie.

Mary Louise Altman
A memorial Mass for Mary Louise (nee Kane) Altman of Evanston will be celebrated at 11 a.m. June 7, 2003 at St. Mary's Roman Catholic Church, 1012 Lake St.
Mrs. Altman, 84, died May 31, 2003.
A 1936 graduate of Evanston Township High School, she was a longtime member of St. Mary's Church in Evanston.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Henry.
Survivors include stepdaughter Susan (Glen) Charles; stepson Michael Altman; two grandchildren; brother Thomas (Nina) Kane; and several nieces, nephews and other relatives.
Interment is private.

Priscilla Bonner
Priscilla C. (nee Putnam) Bonner of Brookfield, Wis., a former resident of Evanston, died May 27, 2003 at the Congregational Home in Brookfield. She was 98.
Born June 7, 1904, in DePere, Wis., she was a graduate of Wisconsin Normal Teacher's College.
Mrs. Bonner was a retired fourth- and fifth-grade elementary school teacher in Osh Kosh, Wis., and Evanston.
She was a longtime member of the EWAC Association of Evanston and very active in the Republican Party in Evanston.
She enjoyed golf, bowling and gardening.
Mrs. Bonner was preceded in death by her husband, Robert, and stepsons William, Robert and James Bonner.
Survivors include sister Margaret Leicht of Green Bay, Wis.; one niece; and one nephew.
Funeral services were private, with entombment in Wisconsin Memorial Park.

Bertha Elizabeth Frangedakis
Bertha (nee Petkus) Frangedakis, 92, of Evanston, died May 26, 2003 in Evanston.
Born May 6,1911, in Lewiston, Maine, she graduated from Simmons College in Boston and the Yale University School of Nursing.
She worked as a registered nurse until her marriage in 1942 to Pandeleon (Leon) Frangedakis, who preceded her in death.
Mrs. Frangedakis was a homemaker and raised her children in Germany, where she was an active member of the military community; volunteered in scouting, school and civic organizations; and was a member of the Order of the Eastern Star.
She traveled throughout Europe with her family. In 1967 she helped start a family owned camping resort in Crete, Greece (Camping Elizabeth).
In 1972 Mrs. Frangedakis and her family moved to Greece, where she spent her winters in Athens and summers in Crete among friends from around the world. She lived in Greece for 27 years before moving to Evanston in 1999. From 2000 until her death she resided at Alden Estates of Evanston.
Survivors include daughters Elizabeth Frangedakis of Crete, Greece, Chrisula (Jani) Kolokouris of Athens, Greece, and Elaine Frangedakis (Patrick McFadden) of Evanston; son George (Beth) of South Dakota; eight grandchildren; and sister Elizabeth Barthes of New Jersey.
Funeral services were held May 30 at First Congregational Church in Evanston, with interment in Arlington National Cemetery in Arlington, Va.
Frances L. Jensen
Frances L. Jensen, nee Legg, 82, formerly of Glenview, died May 29, 2003 in the Mather Pavilion at the Wagner Health Care Center in Evanston.
Mrs. Jensen, a longtime resident of Evanston, was born Oct. 1, 1920, in Evanston. She was a graduate of Evanston Township High School and Northwestern University. After World War II, she worked for the American Red Cross in Chicago helping war brides reach their final destination in the United States.
She taught in Glenview District 34's public schools for more than 20 years, at Westbrook School and Springman School; and was active in the Chicago Botanic Garden, working in the children's garden.
Survivors include one daughter, Joan (Thomas) Ritsch of Winnetka, and a granddaughter, Margaret Norris of Providence, R.I. Mrs. Jensen was preceded in death by her husband, Robert J.
Visitation will be held from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. today, June 5, at Donnellan Family Funeral Home, 10045 Skokie blvd., Skokie. Interment will be private.

Robert J. Long
A funeral Mass for Mr. Robert Joseph Long, 82, of Barrington, formerly of Evanston, was celebrated June 2, 2003 at St. Anne Church in Barrington.
Born Sept. 12, 1920, in Grand Rapids, Mich., he died peacefully on May 28 at his home.
Mr. Long retired from the Illinois Bell Telephone Co. after 45 years of service, where he started as a lineman with Michigan Bell and retired as a communications technical engineer.
He served in the U.S. Army during World War II as a first lieutenant, and he later served as finance officer of the American Legion Bell Post No. 242 in Chicago.
He volunteered at Kirk School in Palatine and he enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren and great-grandson.
Mr. Long is survived by his wife, Else T. (nee Westphal), whom he married June 20, 1969, in Chicago; five children, Margie of Skokie, Dr. Noreen of North Carolina, Kathy (Bill) Schirmang of Glenview, Judy (Mark Zembryki) of Minneapolis and Bill (Judy) of Albuquerque, N.M.; a stepson, Karl Schulz of Winnetka; 11 grandchildren; one great-grandson; and many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his wives, Mary Ellen (nee Moylan) and Mildred (nee Fountain) Long; and three brothers, Wendell, Edward and Charles.
Burial was in Mount Carmel Cemetery, Hillside.
