Frank A. Daniels
Frank A. Daniels, 77, of Des Plaines, died Feb. 4, 1998 in his home. born Jan. 21, 1921, in Chicago, he had been employed for 43 years as a superintendent for Radio Steel and Manufacturing in Chicago.
A lifetime of art included the repair and painting of the statues in St. Stephen Roman Catholic Church. He served in the 7th Army under Gen. Mark Clark with the 103rd Infantry, 328 Medical, Battalion Company B, Cactus Division. He was a founder of the Devon-Higgins Baseball League, a member of the St. Stephen First Friday Club and a former member of the St. Mary Holy Name Society.
Mr. Daniels is survived by his wife, Eleanor L.; his sons, Daniel S. of New York City, John J. (Kathleen) of Detroit, Robert L. of Des Plaines and Dave F. (Deane) of Gilbert, Ariz.; his daughters, Darlene M. Smith of Arlington Heights and Donna M. (Chris) Bouchee of Gilbert, Ariz.; 15 grandchildren; his brother, Joe F., of Pierce, Ariz.; his sisters, Mary Marczek of Downers Grove, Ann Skowron of Chicago, Jean Montori of Crystal Lake and Zoe Daniels of Nagaunee, Mich. He was preceded in death by a brother, John (Nancy).
Funeral Mass was celebrated Feb. 7 in St. Stephen Roman Catholic Church, Des Plaines. Burial was in All Saints Cemetery, Des Plaines.
Memorials to Maryville Academy will be appreciated.
Martha Krawczyk
Mass was celebrated Feb. 9 at St. Cecilia Catholic Church in Mount Prospect for Martha Krawczyk (nee Buyle), 83, of Arlington Heights and formerly of Deerfield and Chicago.
Entombment was in All Saints Mausoleum. She died Feb. 5, 1998 at Lutheran General Health Center at the Moorings.
Born Sept. 17, 1914, in Belgium, she was a homemaker and member of St. Cecila Church.
She is survived by her in-laws, Thaddeus (the late Frances), Jane (Steven) Miller, Phyllis (Raymond) Wojnar and Lottie (Anthony) Kloska; her cousins Marcella (Oscar) Pauwels and Lillian Hagen, and four nieces and five nephews.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be given to United Parkinsons Foundation, 833 W. Washington Blvd., Chicago IL 60607, or masses are appreciated.

Ruther E. Maurer
Ruth E. Maurer (nee Walsh), 94, of Arlington Heights and formerly of Chicago, died Feb. 1, 1998 at Manor Care of Arlington Heights. Mass was celebrated at St. James Church on Feb. 7, followed by burial in Queen of Heaven Cemetery.
Born Sept. 1, 1903, in McHenry, she was a former assistant administrator for Franklin Boulevard Community Hospital from which she retired in 1989 after 35 years.
Survivors include her daughter Marcia “Mickey” Gudjons of Arlington Heights; her grandchildren Richard Patrick Gudjons and Karen (Don) Lange; her great-granddaughters Lisa and Jessica Lange; and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband Martin G.
Arrangements were completed by Glueckert Funeral Home, Arlington Heights.
Fawzi M. Yahya
Fawzi M. Yahya, 66, of Antioch died Aug. 16, 1998.
Mr. Yahya was born Oct. 22, 1931 in Haifa, Palestine. Survivors include his children, Raji, Malak and Steven; and his siblings, Siham, Faez, Machboula, Faezi and Waleid.
Funeral services and interment were private.
Donald Grzelak
Donald R. Grzelak, 63, of Wanatah, Ind., passed away Aug. 17, 1998 at Porter Memorial Hospital in Valparaiso, Ind.
Mr. Grzelak was a lifetime resident of the Wanatah area and had worked in maintenance for 35 years for Kaiser Aluminum Company. He was a member of the Sacred Heart Catholic Church, Wanatah American Legion Post, U.S. Army veteran serving in Germany from 1954 to 1956, 20 Years and Up Club of Kaiser Aluminum and loved fishing and golf. He won the Kaiser Golf League five consecutive years.
Born July 14, 1935 in Chicago, the son of the late Stanley and Helen Grzelak, he married Eva G. Barker on June 7, 1958 in Wanatah, Ind.
He is survived by his wife, Eva; four children, Garry R. (MaryAnne) of Deerfield, Daniel R. (Robyn) of Union Mills, Ind., Douglas P. (Denise) of Union Mills, Ind., and Patricia (Rick) Lahey of Valparaiso; 10 grandchildren; and brother, Leonard R. Grzelak of Munster, Ind. He was preceded in death by his parents and one brother, Jerry.
A funeral Mass was offered Aug. 20 at the Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Wanatah, Ind. The Rev. Jerry Schweitzer was the celebrant. Memorials may be given to the Sacred Heart Catholic Church.
Florence M. Collins
Florence M. Collins, nee Boyle, of Forest Park, formerly of Oak Park, died Oct. 25, 1998.
Mrs. Collins was the wife of the late Joseph A.; mother of Judith T., Michael J. (Pamela), Maureen A., Kathleen J. (Robert) Gregg and Colleen P. (Robert) Caponi; grandmother of Brian, Kerry, Michael and Danny.
Visitation was held Oct. 27 in Conboy’s Westchester Funeral Home.
A Mass of Christian Burial was celebrated Oct. 28 in St. Giles Church, Oak Park.
Interment was private.

Anne H. Drouillard
A memorial service for Anne H. Drouillard will be held at 11 a.m. Nov. 7, 1998 in Postlewait Village Chapel, 523 Lake St., Oak Park.
Mrs. Drouillard, 63, a 38-year resident of Oak Park, died Nov. 1, 1998 in West Suburban Hospital Medical Center, Oak Park.
She was born Sept. 26, 1935 in Gallipolis, Ohio. She attended elementary school and high school in North Chicago and received her bachelor’s degree in chemistry from Smith College. By profession she was a chemist and worked for Sunbeam and G.T.E. Corporation prior to her retirement in 1975. She was the owner of Reliable Secretarial Service in her home and sold T-shirts at Great Impressions in Oak Park.
She was a member of the Oak Park Curling Club and founding member of the Oak Park Women’s Exchange.
Mrs. Drouillard is survived by her husband, William E.; daughter, Diana Rebecca Drouillard of Oak Park and sons, John Karl of Morton Grove and William Walker of Phoenix, Ariz.; and brother, William Haney of Greensborough, N.C.

Hiram Walker
Hiram Walker, 53, of Maywood, died Oct. 15, 1998.
Mr. Walker was born Jan. 4, 1945 in Chicago to Louise Robertson and Hiram Walker. He was one of nine children. He married Jene Epps on May 7, 1977.
In addition to his wife and mother he is survived by his sons, Hiram Jr. (Yvonne), Ron (Kim) and Parrish; five sisters, Hymelia Clarke of Memphis, Vernon Smith of Chicago, Musette Robertson of New York, Beatrice Booth of Memphis, Kim Brown of Atlanta, three brothers, Matthew Robertson of Chicago, Earl Walker of Oak Park and Dorn Walker of Indiana; five grandchildren, Deji, Christopher, Parrish Jr., Piere and Ethan; and many other relatives.
Funeral services were held Oct. 23 in Drexel Funeral Home, Maywood, with the Rev. James Clark presiding.
Interment was private.
Albert J. Fang
Albert J. Fang, a 30-year resident of Elmwood Park, died Oct. 12, 1998 in his home.
Mr. Fang attended Kelvyn Park High School, Washburn
Fang Trade School for carpentry and continued his education at several area junior colleges. He served in the Korean War.
Mr. Fang was a carpenter and contractor and later worked as Building Inspector for the Village of Hillside and the Village of Indian Head Park; he was also Chief Housing Inspector for the Village of Oak Park and later was Chief Building Inspector for the Village of Roselle.
He was a member of the Elmwood Park Youth Commission, Planning Commission and Cable Television Commission.
He founded the Elmwood Park Arts and Humanities Commission and co-founded the Elmwood Park Civic Chorus. He also participated in many other village organizations.
He founded The Skylarks Unlimited, a 1940s musical show troupe, which performed in the greater Chicagoland area and various state festivals. He also founded and was a member of the St. Celestine Choir.
Mr. Fang is survived by his wife, Lenore; his sons, Gregory (Kay), Geoffrey and Albert Jr.; and a granddaughter, Brittany.
A Mass of Christian Burial was celebrated Oct. 16 in St. Celestine Church, Elmwood Park.
Interment was in St. Joseph Cemetery, River Grove.
John A. Lafferty
A memorial service for John A. Lafferty will be held at noon Nov. 7, 1998 in Ascension Church, 815 S. East Ave., Oak Park.
Mr. Lafferty, 43, a former Oak Park resident and graduate of Oak Park-River Forest High School, died from cancer Oct. 1, 1998 at The Hospice at the University of Texas in Houston.
Mr. Lafferty was born Feb. 17, 1955, in Chicago. He was the only son of six children born to Margaret Lafferty Dillon and the late John T. Lafferty. He graduated from St. Lucy Elementary School and attended St. Patrick High School before his family moved from Oak Park. At the age of 38 he entered the law school at the University of Houston, earning his law degree in 1996. He was an attorney at the law firm of Mandel and Wright in Houston.
Besides his mother, Mr. Lafferty is survived by his son, Dwayne Terence; his sisters, Mary Decker of Plainfield, Ill., Judy McGrath of Carol Stream, Kathleen (John) Garlock of Lima, Ohio, Sara (Lawrence) Karlin of Oak Park and Margaret (Donald) McAmis of Glendale Heights; 10 nieces and nephews; three great-nephews and a great-niece.
Funeral services were held at St. Elizabeth Ann Seaton Church in Houston.
Interment was in Memorial Oak Cemetery.

Philip C. Bays
Philip C. Bays, 31, of Oak Park, formerly of Bloomington-Normal and Sterling, Ill., died Nov. 14, 1998.
Mr. Bays was a graduate of Illinois State University.
He is survived by his father, Robert E. (Gloria) Bays; his brother, Robert, and sisters, Debra Pruett and Karen Bays. He was the step-brother of Todd, Lane, Scott and Jill Keyoth.
He was preceded in death by his mother, Ellen Bays.
A celebration of Mr. Bays’ life by many friends took place Nov. 21 at Vivaldi Restaurant, Oak Park.
Cremation was private.
