Francis M. Davies
A memorial service for Francis M. “Frank” Davies will take place at 5 p.m. Nov. 28, 1998 in Unity Temple, 875 Lake St., Oak Park.
Mr. Davies, of Oak Park, formerly of Maywood, died Nov. 11, 1998.
Mr. Davies was a past president of the West Suburban Real Estate Board, West Suburban Artists Guild and the Rotary Club of Maywood. He was West Suburban Real Estate Board Realtor of the Year in 1986.
He was a former trustee of the Village of Maywood and a recipient of the Silver Beaver award from the Boy Scouts of America.
He was a member of the Unity Temple-Unitarian Universalist Congregation of Oak Park.
Mr. Davies is survived by his children, Susan D. (James) Brachty, Charles F. (Barbara) Davies, and Dana K. (Judy) Davies; his grandchildren, Gregory M. Davies, Juliana E. Davies, Elise V. Brachty, Megan V. Brachty and Amy L. Brachty; and a great-grandchild, Devon M. Davies. He was the brother of Katherine Griffith, Jesse Tupper and Nora Springer; and the uncle of many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Margaret Davies, nee Malaney; and his brothers, William S. Davies and John M. Davies.
Arrangements were made by H. Marik Sons Funeral Home, Berwyn.
Memorials were suggested for the National Parkinson Foundation, 1501 NW 9th Ave., Bob Hope Road, Miami, Fla., 33136-1494, or for the Unity Temple-Unitarian Universalist Congregation, Oak Park.
Irene Mildred Ericson
Irene Mildred Ericson, 99, formerly of River Forest, died Nov. 8, 1998 in Meadowbrook Care Center, Cincinnati, Ohio.
Mrs. Ericson, a long-time resident of River Forest, was born Feb. 12, 1899. She was an active member of Grace Lutheran Church until her move to Cincinnati eight years ago. She had also been a member of the Nineteenth Century Woman’s Club, Oak Park.
Mrs. Ericson traveled extensively and had friends all over the world. She was a collector of tourist souvenirs and mementos as reminders of her travels.
She is survived by her son, Kenneth R. Ericson; five grandsons; one granddaughter; and one great-grandson, all of Cincinnati.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Ferdinand; and her son, Richard F. Ericson.
Funeral services were Nov. 11 in Prince of Peace Lutheran Church, Loveland, Ohio.
Interment was in Spring Grove Cemetery.
Memorials were suggested for the Nineteenth Century Woman’s Club, Oak Park.
Marie Giampino
Marie Giampino, 90, formerly of Forest Park, died Nov. 13, 1998 in Lexington Healthcare, La Grange.
Mrs. Giampino was born in Palermo, Italy, on Dec. 16, 1907. She was a homemaker.
She is survived by her daughters, Frances Blumhagen, Mary Ann McAvene and Janet Nelson; and her sons, Frank Giampino and Joseph Giampino; her daughter-in-law, Carol Ann Giampino, and sons-in-law, Richard McAvene and Jon Nelson; 12 grandchildren; and 16 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Sam Giampino; her parents, Joseph and Antonina Mercurio; and her son-in-law, Fred Blumhagen.
Visitation was Nov. 17 and 18 in Hitzeman Funeral Home Ltd., Brookfield.
Funeral services were Nov. 18 in St. Louise de Marillac Church.
Interment was in Queen of Heaven Cemetery, Hillside.
Edward O'Keefe
Edward O'Keefe, 74, of Oak Park, died Nov. 12, 1998 in Oak Park Hospital.
Mr. O'Keefe was born July 14, 1924 in Chicago.
He worked as a clerk for a railroad company.
He is survived by his brother, Bob (Joan) O'Keefe of Glenview; his nephews and nieces, Kevin, Patrick, Tim (Laura) O'Keefe, Mary (John) Walsh, Kathy (Larry) O'Neill and Bob (Janice) Swanson. He was the great-uncle of many.
He was preceded in death by his sister, Mary (the late Arnold) Swanson.
Visitation took place Nov. 13 in Colonial-Wojciechowski Funeral Home, Niles.
A Mass of Christian Burial was celebrated Nov. 14 in St. Isaac Jogues Church.
Interment was in Queen of Heaven Cemetery, Hillside.

Harriet A. Homolka
A memorial service for Harriet A. Homolka, 85, formerly of Oak Park, will be held at 11 a.m. Dec. 5, 1998 in Harvard Congregational Church, 1045 S. Kenilworth Ave., Oak Park.
Ms. Homolka died Nov. 11, 1998 in the Solhiem Retirement Home, Los Angeles.
She was a resident of Oak Park for more than 40 years, prior to her move to California.
She is survived by her son, Charles (JoEllen), her daughter, Gail (Kenneth) Marks; five grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.
Rose G. Wilhelm
Rose G. Wilhelm, 92, formerly of Oak Park and River Forest, died Oct. 2, 1998 in Daytona Beach, Fla.
Mrs. Wilhelm was born in Hastings, Ontario, and lived most of her adult life in Oak Park and River Forest.
She was a teacher at St. Angela’s, Chicago, and St. Giles, Oak Park, which was her home parish.
She was a past president of the Fenwick Mother’s Club and a member of the St. Giles Guild of the Tabernacle.
Mrs. Wilhelm is survived by three sons, David of Mount Dora, Fla., John (Glenda) of Stone Mountain, Ga., and Kenneth (Casey) of Ann Arbor, Mich., and one daughter, Mary Beth (Giacomo) Leone of La Salle, Ill.; 12 grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.
A memorial Mass for Mrs. Wilhelm was held Nov. 7 in St. Giles.
Interment was in Queen of Heaven Cemetery, Hillside.
James Adams
James H. Adams, 83, a long-time resident of Chicago’s Edison Park community, died on June 21, 1999 in Glenbrook Hospital in Glenview. He and his wife moved to the Heritage in Des Plaines last year.
Born Feb. 8, 1916 in Chicago, Mr. Adams worked as a supervisor for Columbia Printing Company in Chicago. He was a World War II veteran, and held the rank of lieutenant colonel in the United States Army.
He and his wife Hazel (nee Leubrie) first met in 1929 when they both were sent to the Illinois Masonic Orphans Home in Lagrange. They were best friends and sweethearts until their marriage. They would have been married 61 years on July 23.
Mr. Adams was a 42-year member of Edison Park United Methodist Church, where he had served as head usher. He was a longtime member of the Edison-Norwood-O'Hare Kiwanis Club, where he had served on the board for many years as treasurer.
He is survived by his wife; a son, Dr. Lawrence J. Adams (Dr. Sally Clausen) of Pendleton, Ore.; grandsons Leif J. and Ian F. Adams; and a sister, Marjorie (the late John) Stull of Ohio.
Visitation was held June 22 at the M.J. Suerth Funeral Home, Chicago. The Rev. Tony Thangaraj, pastor of Edison Park United Methodist Church, conducted the service at the funeral home on June 23. Interment was in Mount Emblem Cemetery.
Alfio Bastiani
Alfio Bastiani, 78, of Des Plaines died on June 16, 1999.
Mr. Bastiani served with the U.S. Marine Corps.
Survivors include his wife, Gladys; daughter, Jeanette (Richard) Zirngibl; four grandchildren; and sister, Mimi Sullivan.
Funeral service was conducted on June 18 in Skaja Terrace Funeral Home, Niles. Burial was in All Saints Cemetery, Des Plaines.
Mabel Bjorkquist
Mable L. Bjorkquist (nee Hacker), 94, of Des Plaines, died June 26, 1999 in Manor Care in Arlington Heights. born May 24, 1905 in Des Plaines she was co-owner of Bjorkquist Radio and TV Repair in Des Plaines.
Preceded in death by her husband, Ellis “Ted”, she is survived by her children, Richard (Lois) of Lakeland, Fla., Kenneth (Mary Wyn) of Waukashaw, Wis., Mary Lou (Edward) Kason of Mount Prospect; grandchildren, Richard (Becky), John, Lara Bjorkquist, Bonnie Franklin, Sandra (Michael), Fagget, Susan (Scott) Russell, Karen (Paul) Genick, Kristy (Matt), Brezinsky and the late William (Barbara Jean) Bjorkquist; great-grandmother of 10.
Funeral service was conducted on June 30 in Oehler Funeral Home, Des Plaines. Interment was in Ridgewood Cemetery, Des Plaines.
Brian Freese
Brian J. Freese, 27, of Des Plaines, died June 27, 1999. born Nov. 22, 1971 in Park Ridge, he had worked as a clerk at the B&F Coffe Bar Services.
Funeral service was conducted on June 30 at Oehler Funeral Home, Des Plaines. Burial was in Town of Maine Cemetery.
He is survived by his parents George and JoAnn of Des Plaines; brothers Michael of Des Plaines, George (Lisa) Hanover Park, Robert of Des Plaines; grandparents Cal and Mary Reeves of Des Plains and Ruth Freese of Des Plaines.
