Bazel DeLay (nee Johnson)
Age 79, of Manhattan died suddenly Thursday, January 1, 2004 while visiting with her family in Parsons, Tennessee. She was born in 1924 at Henderson, Texas to Andrew and Gussy Johnson. She was a long time resident of Manhattan where she worked as a beautician at her home for many years and retired from Mobile Foam after 25 years of service.Survived by a daughter, Alice (Charles) Houston of Parsons Tennessee; two sons, Van (Judy) DeLay of Weatherford, Texas and Michael (Linda) DeLay of Arlington, Texas; three granddaughters; five grandsons; two great grandchildren; a sister, Hazel (Gerald) Laney; and two brothers, Roy (Peggy) Johnson and Troy (Helen) Johnson all of Arlington, Texas.
Preceded in death by her husband, Laban DeLay.
Funeral service for Bazel DeLay will be 10 AM Monday, January 5, 2004 at the Forsythe Funeral Home, Manhattan. Pastor Mike Talaga of Peace Community Church officiating. Interment Manhattan Center Cemetery. Visitation Sunday 4 to 8 PM.

Carl Edward Dinger, Sr.
Age 68, of Gardner, IL, passed away Thursday, January 1, 2004 at Heritage Manor in Dwight, IL. born May 7, 1935 in Marseilles, IL to the late Charles Arthur and Catherine Margaret (nee Simmons) Dinger. Retired from Caterpillar, Inc. in Joliet, IL following 31 years of employment. He was a member of the International Association of Machinists and Aerospace Workers Local #851, the Loyal Order of the Moose Lodge #241 in Wilmington, IL and the Illinois Sheriff's Association.
Surviving are two daughters, Robin (Tom) Barren of Darien, IL and Amanda Kay Corsini of Dwight, IL; numerous grandchildren; and his former wife, Emilie (nee Deno) Dinger of Joliet, IL.
Preceding him in death were two sons, Carl E. Dinger, Jr. and Charles Earl Dinger; a daughter, Marie Lynn Dinger; and one brother, Clarence Dinger.
Cremation rites will be accorded. A memorial service will be held at the Church of Hope, in Gardner, Wednesday, January 7, at 6:00 p.m., with visitation one hour preceding. Rev. Jan Chandler will officiate. Inurnment will be in the Braceville-Gardner Cemetery in Braceville, IL. Burial will be private. Donald Dwyer
Age 78. Passed away Friday, January 2, 2004 at Silver Cross Hospital.
Survived by three sons Robert of Las Angeles, CA, William and Joseph both of Joliet; daughters Susan (Keith) Oram, Geraldine (James) Kennedy of Wilmington, LuAnn (William) Pleshe of Seneca, and Mary Beth (William) Velleux of Winters, WI. Ten grandchildren and four great grandchildren. One brother William Dwyer. Numerous nieces and nephews also survive.
Preceded in death by his wife Helen Corrine Dwyer; parents Edward and Frances (Walsh) Dwyer; sisters Marie, Genevieve, Helen and Rita; one brother Joseph.
Born in Joliet, a lifelong resident. World War II Army Veteran. Retired from Texaco Oil Refinery. Donald played two years in the Pittsburgh Pirates minor league system and was a member of the Amateur Softball Associations of Illinois Hall of Fame. Member of St. Rose Catholic Church in Wilmington, Irving A.C., Old Timers Baseball Association, Cantigny Post #367 V.F.W. and Elks Lodge #296.

Age 78. Passed away Thursday, January 1, 2004 at her residence.
Survived by three daughters Judith Breen, Janice Briddick and Jane Blackwell; six grandchildren; 13 great grandchildren. One sister and one brother also survive.
Preceded in death by her husband Owen D. Fuller; one son James W. Breen; three grandchildren and one brother.
Born in Joliet, a lifelong resident. Retired from the E.J & E. Railroad. Passed owner of Cindy's Beauty Shop. Member of the Ladies Auxiliary V.F.W. Cantigny Post 367; former member Professional Assoc. of Women in Business. Genevieve's family was the center of her life.
Private funeral services will be held. Memorial to the Will County Humane Society would be appreciated.

Rita Ellen Williams Hansen
Died from pneumonia on December 10, 2003 in Alhambra, California. A long time resident of Evanston, Illinois, Rita had recently moved to California to be near her three daughters as her health deteriorated from Parkinson's Disease. She was 88.
Rita Hansen was born in 1915 in Symerton, Illinois, the oldest of six children of Catherine Roach Williams and Everett Williams. Rita graduated from St. Francis College in Joliet, Illinois, and received a masters degree in education from Illinois State Teacher's College at Normal, Illinois.
Rita married James Roger Hansen, a native of Joliet, Illinois, on August 30, 1947. James Hansen, deceased in 1985, was a violinist and member of the Chicago Symphony Orchestra for 38 years.
Rita was a teacher for the Chicago Public Schools for approximately 30 years, starting in 1957. She was head of the English Department at Taft High School for many years. During her tenure with the Chicago Public Schools she was appointed clinical professor at Northwestern University's Curriculum Center under Wallace Douglas, PhD. During this period, she authored and edited widely used composition and literature programs for middle school and high school students.
During retirement, Rita worked at the Art Institute of Chicago as a docent, where she wrote and conducted tours to guide Chicago's school children through the art museum.
Rita is survived by her sister, Kay Adams of Joliet, Illinois; and three daughters, Jennie Hansen, Susie Hansen and Joan Hansen Wilken; and one grandson, Nicholas Hansen Wilken, all of Los Angeles, California.
A memorial service will be held at Sheil Catholic Center, 2100 Sheridan Road, Evanston, Illinois at 1:30 p.m., Saturday, January 10, 2004 (847) 328-4648. In lieu of flowers, Rita requested that contributions be made to the Sheil Catholic Center. Burial will be private.

Age 17 years, died Monday, December 29, 2003 at Silver Cross Hospital. born in Joliet. A student at JTHS and a member of the wrestling team. A summer employee at Warren-Sharp Center.
Brandon is survived by his mother, Tammie T. Harris and his father, Gary (Jennifer) Hoyle; two brothers, Keith Lucas, Jr. and Isiah Fredricks; two sisters, Bridgett Lucas and Delois Hoyle; a nephew, Keymari Caldwell; his paternal grandparents, Rita Hoyle and Robert Orsborn; his best friend, Archaye Raine; his maternal grandfather, Bang Long, Jr.; aunts, uncle, and cousins also survive.
Funeral services will be Monday at 1:00 p.m. at Sacred Heart Church, Father Raymond Lescher officiating. Visitation Monday 12:00 noon to 1:00 p.m. at the church. Interment Elmhurst Cemetery.

Survived by her loving husband, Donald; three daughters, Sally (Henry) Smith, Donna (Rev. David) Beguin, Diane Horschler; one son, Philip Don (Marisol) Horschler; six grandchildren, Erica (Ed) Deegan, Tucker Smith, Brittany Beguin, Ryan (Lori) Beguin, Sean Beguin, and Allison Horschler; one great-grandchild, Clare Collins Deegan; also survived by nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Born June 24, 1918 in Lockport and was a lifelong resident. Preceded in death by her parents, Carl A. and Ella (Gustafson) Johnson; brother, Kenneth Johnson. Member Faith Bible Church, where she taught first grade Sunday School for fifty years. She helped to establish the Phelan Acres Bible Church in Wilmington and served on the Gideons International Bible Auxiliary for fifty years. She was a retired executive secretary for the Lockport Township High School District and the Valley View School District Superintendent's Office in Romeoville.
Family will receive friends at the Goodale Memorial Chapel, 912 S. Hamilton St., Sunday, 3-8 p.m. Services will be Monday, January 5, 2004 at the Faith Bible Church of Joliet at 11:00 a.m. with Rev. Survived by five sons Dr. Keith Johnson of New York, Dr. Kent Johnson of Australia, Dr. Carl Johnson of Wisconsin, Dr. Theodore Johnson of Vermont and Glen (Deborah) Johnson of Joliet, a daughter Dr. Ellen (Dr. Tim) Caspar-Johnson of Delaware, ten grandchildren Orin, Emily, Michael, Benjamin, Colin, Wylie, Christopher and Daniel Johnson, Rebecca and Hannah Caspar-Johnson, sisters-in-law Elizabeth Peterson of Morris and Betty Neiswender of Joliet, a brother-in-law Richard Johnson of Moline. Also numerous nieces and nephews.
Preceded in death by her husband, Robert N. Johnson (2002), a granddaughter Joanna Caspar-Johnson, her parents Nels and Elin Peterson, two sisters Althea Ott and Esther Peterson, one brother Carl Peterson.
Born in Joliet and was a lifelong resident. Educated in the Joliet Public Schools, grad of Joliet Twp. High School, Joliet Jr. College and the University of Chicago. Taught in the Joliet Public Grade Schools and the Oak Valley-Laraway School system. Former member of St. John Lutheran Church and presently a member of Bethlehem Lutheran Church. Also member of Delta Kappa Gamma and other educational groups, the Whatsoever Girls Circle of Kings Daughters, Advisory Board of Silver Cross Hospital and past member of Joliet Women's Club. She was very active with the Joliet Grade School and High School Band Parents Assn.

Age 75, passed away January 1, 2004 at his Oak Brook residence. Oak Brook resident for 40 years. born in Chicago, IL on May 10, 1928.

Richard Thomas "Dick" Mansell, Sr.
Age 68, of Bourbonnais, passed away January 2, 2004 at his home. He was born September 17, 1936 in Hinsdale, IL, the son of Thomas and Dorothy (Bendien) Mansell. On November 29, 1958 he married Rosealie Bilek in Brookfield, IL. He retired in 1985 as a foreman for General Motors in the EMD division. He was a resident of Long Island for two years, Mokena for 32 years and Bourbonnais since 1992. He was an Air Force Veteran and was a member of Maternity BVM Church. He was a member of Knights of Columbus, former member of the Moose, coached Pop Warner Football in Mokena for 14 years, coached boys wrestling for 14 years all with his wife by his side. He loved the farms and horses so much, and enjoyed camping and seeing the countryside.
He is survived by his wife Rosealie of Bourbonnais, four sons, Richard (Laurie) Mansell Jr. of Joliet, Robert (Kathy) Mansell of Jacksonville, IL, Ken (Kathy) Mansell of Jacksonville, IL and Michael Mansell of Lindenhurst, IL, grandchildren Bobby Mansell Jr. of Jacksonville, IL, Angela Mansell of Jacksonville, IL, Rachel Mansell of Jacksonville, IL, Hannah Mansell of Jacksonville, IL and Max Mansell of Lindenhurst, IL, and one brother, David (Shelly) Mansell of Florida.
