Age 59, of Joliet passed away January 8, 2004 surrounded by his family and friends. born June 9, 1944 in Johnson City, TN. Retired from Caterpillar International after 35 years of service. He served his country in the Viet Nam War from 1967 to 1968.
Survived by his wife, Jane (Hannah); two sons, Brian Edward (Jennifer) and Jeffery Scott (Juliana); and four grandchildren of Joliet-Elwood; four step children, Cindy (Tim) Morris, Mary, John (Heather) Hannah, Jennifer (David) Barnard; ten step grandchildren of Sandusky, Ohio; his mother, Beulah of Johnson City, TN; five brothers, James and David of Joliet, Richard, John and Michael; and a sister, Mary Ellen Cowan of Johnson City, TN. Also numerous nieces, nephews and special friends. Preceded in death by his father, James Thomas Godsey.

Age 89, passed away Friday, January 9, 2004 at Betz Nursing Home in Auburn, IN. Formerly of Auburn, IN, Joliet, IL and New Lenox, IL.
She is survived by her two sons Fred (Peggy) Kurtz of Auburn, IN and Karl (Marilyn) Kurtz of New Lenox, IL; four grandchildren Tom (Michele) Vana of Lockport, IL, Joe Kurtz of New Lenox, IL, Kevin (Tina) Kurtz of Oconomowoc, WI and Kim (Dan) Ginder of Ft. Wayne, IN; seven great-grandchildren Matt, Amy and Jay Vana of Lockport, IL, Liam Kurtz of New Lenox, IL, Brody and Ethan Kurtz of Oconomowoc, WI and Bryce Ginder of Ft. Wayne, IN.
Mrs. Kurtz was born in Joliet. Living in Joliet and New Lenox most of her life. She retired after 21 years of service from Hart Schafner Marx as a Timekeeper. She was a Charter Member of the Larkin Baptist Church in Joliet.
She was preceded in death by her husband Fred Kurtz (1942). Her parents Benjamin and Siegrid (Peterson) Crosson. Her sister Vi Cantu and her three brothers Carl, Cliff and John Crosson.
Family will receive friends at the Kurtz Memorial Chapel, 102 E. Francis Road, New Lenox, IL Sunday from 2 p.m. - 6 p.m. Services Monday, January 12, 2004 in the Funeral Home Chapel at 11:00 a.m. with Harv Russell officiating. Survived by his loving wife of 53 years Marie A. (Partak) Gawenda; four sons, Henry (Sandy), Jerry (Pat), David (Sharon), Joseph (Barbara) Gawenda; one daughter Judy Mrs. Scott Cronk; 10 grandchildren; one great-granddaughter; one brother John (Evelyn) Gawenda; and two sisters Marion Markgraf and Helen McKay.
Born in Joliet living in the area all of his life.
Preceded in death by his parents Anthony & Josephine (Redlak) Gawenda; a grandson, Robert Gawenda (1995) and three brothers, Chester, Charles and Walter Gawenda.
WWII Army veteran serving in the Pacific Theatre; A sheet metal worker for Local 265 for over 50 years, he was a member of St. Bernard's Church where he served as an usher for 50 years, the American Legion Post 1080, Joliet; Charter member both the Ingalls Park Athletic Club, Belmont Athletic Club, and coached little league at both clubs for over 20 years.

He served in the Army during WWII and had been employed by Electrolux inJoliet.
Survivors include three daughters, Donna, Sheila and Pamela; two sons, William and Robert; 10 grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; and a sister, Evelyn Barnes of Joliet.
Funeral services will be 2 p.m., Sunday in St. Paul's Episcopal Church in LaSalle.
Visitation will be 7-8 p.m., Saturday in the Seals-Campbell Funeral Home, Marseilles.
