Age 84, passed away January 12, 2001 at his residence in Romeoville, formerly of Chicago.
He is survived by his daughters, Mary Zahorcik and and Joan Kreitzer. Grandfather of Donald (Marie) Zahorcik, David Zahorcik, Christine Zahorcik and Laura (Russell) Smith; great grandfather of James and Elizabeth Zahorcik. Also survived by a sister Alma Bean.
He is preceded in death by his wife, Anne Kreitzer; his parents, Robert and Olga Kreitzer; his brothers Edwin and Albert Kreitzer; also a sister, Helen Koester.
Family will receive friends at the Anderson Memorial Chapel, 606 Townhall Dr. in Romeoville Tuesday, 9:30 a.m. until 10:30 a.m. procession to follow to St. Andrew Catholic Church for an 11:00 a.m. mass of Christian burial. Interment Resurrection Catholic Cemetery in Justice.

Age 93. Sunday, January 14, 2001 at Provena Saint Joseph Medical Center. born in Joliet and a lifelong resident. Retired from the U.S. Steel Corp. in 1969. Member of St. Patrick Catholic Church for over forty years.
Beloved aunt of Phyllis Olsta of Portland, OR, Lois McCann and Justin "Jess" Kwarta, both of Joliet. Several great nieces and nephews, including Carl McCann of Joliet and "Mama's little sweetheart", Sidney.
Preceded in death by three sisters, Charlotte Waskowiak, Anne Olsta and Clara Ernst. Six brothers, Louis, Anthony, Thomas, Andrew DDS, Leo and Edward Kwarta.
Funeral services for Helen L. Kwarta will be Wednesday, January 17, 2001 10:30 a.m. from the West Chapel to St. Patrick Catholic Church for a mass of Christian burial at 11:00 a.m. Interment Holy Cross Cemetery. Visitation WEDNESDAY MORNING 8:30 a.m. until time of services at:

Elizabeth Y. Lucas "Betty" (nee Yeates)
Age 92. Passed away Saturday, January 13, 2001 at her late residence. Graduated from high school in York, PA. A graduate of Ursinus College in PA, taught Junior High School in York, PA. Resident of Joliet since 1946. Member of the Joliet Hospitality Club, Women's Club and member of First Presbyterian Church.
Survived by four sons, Stephen B. Lucas of Monsey, NY, Earl Y. Lucas of West Dundee, IL, Neil A. Lucas of Boise, ID and David R. Lucas of Joliet. Eight grandsons; one granddaughter; three great-granddaughters; one sister-in-law. Several nieces, nephews and cousins also survive.
Preceded in by her parents, Mary E. and Earle A. Yeates of York, PA; a sister in infancy; her husband, Dr. Nicholas L. Lucas (1981) after 44 years of marriage.
At her request, her remains were cremated. NO VISITATION. Arrangements by:

Larry J. Nowicki
Age 70, passed away January 13, 2001 in Chicago. A 35 year resident of Lemont. A retired Lieutenant Colonel serving U.S. Air Force. A researcher for Argonne National Laboratories of Lemont giving 48 years of service.
He is survived by his sons, Christopher Nowicki, Brian Nowicki, Scott (Merry) Nowicki and Keith Nowicki. Brother of Edward, Val, Phyllis, Emily, Wanda, Stan, Bob, John and Victor. Uncle of many nieces and nephews.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Cornelius and Victoria Nowicki.
Family will receive friends at the Anderson Memorial Chapel, 606 Townhall Dr. in Romeoville Tuesday 3-9 p.m. Funeral Wednesday, 10:30 a.m. from the funeral home chapel to St. Andrew Catholic Church for an 11:00 a.m. mass of Christian burial. Anna Marie Oliver (nee McGladdery)
Age 80. Saturday, January 13, 2001 at Provena St. Joseph Medical Center. Survived by three daughters, Margaret (Tom) Olszewski of Galesburg, IL, Mayre Jo (James) George of Wellston, MI and Dana Bernhard of Shorewood. One son Glen (Cindy) Oliver Jr. of Arlington, TX. 11 grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; numerous nieces and nephews also survive. Special caregivers Waja Kobielarz and Candie Connell.
Preceded in death by her husband, Glen I. Oliver Sr. (1995) and father William McGladdery, mother Lena (Traeger) Ebenhoeh (1987) and sister Thelma Hopkins.
Born in Kankakee, moving to Joliet at the age of seven. She worked at Joliet Public Service Co. and for the Comptroller in Chicago, retiring from the College of St. Francis after 25 years where she was a secretary in Accounts Payable. Member of First Presbyterian Church, Bethany Shrine #7 White Shrine of Jerusalem, Marguerite Chapter #187, Order of Eastern Star, Red Cross, Joliet Business and Professional Women, Friends of the Joliet Public Library and Volunteered at Will-Grundy Medical Clinic. Anna Marie's poetry was published in the World of Poetry Press. Great Peoms of Our Time and New American Poetry Anthology.
Lying in State Wednesday, January 17, 2001 at the First Presbyterian Church from 9:30 until time of services at 10:30 a.m. Interment Mound Grove Cemetery, Kankakee. Visitation Tuesday 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. at the Blackburn-Giegerich-Sonntag. Memorials to the Joliet Public Library would be appreciated.

Age 85. Passed away Tuesday, January 16, 2001 at his residence.
Born in Joliet and a lifetime resident. A United States World War II Army Veteran. Retired painter with Union Local #33. Member of the Moran A.C., Loyal Order of Moose Lodge #300, life member of VFW Cantigny Post #367 and Foresters; served as an usher for over 40 years at St. Patrick Catholic Church.
Beloved husband of 61 years to Mary M. (Nee Gornik) Ariagno; loving father of Ronald (Marci) Ariagno, M.D. of Menlo Park, CA, Richard Ariagno of New Lenox, James (Joette) Ariagno of Plainfield, Mary (Peter) DeCraene of Joliet and Kathy (Mark) Prieboy of Joliet; proud grandfather of 11; devoted great-grandfather of two. Numerous nieces and nephews also survive.
Preceded in death by his parents, Frank and Theresa (Nee DiBernardi) Ariagno; three sisters, Mary Stadler, Catherine Lawler and Pauline Weese; and a brother, Joseph Ariagno.

Raymond Patrick Doran, Sr.,
Age. 72, of Braidwood, IL, passed away Monday, January 15, 2001 at the Provena Saint Joseph Medical Center in Joliet, IL. born December 12, 1928 in Chicago, IL to the late Edward J. and Marie (Muench) Doran.
Raymond was a retired Shift Engineer. He had been employed at Commonwealth Edison, Will County Station for 38 years. Raymond was a WWII veteran of the U.S. Navy. He was a member of the Immaculate Conception Church in Braidwood, IL; the American Legion Post #0118 in Chicago, IL and the Knights of Columbus in FL. Raymond had a private pilot's license and enjoyed flying in his leisure.
Surviving are his wife, Barbara (Blanchard), whom he married January 19, 1952 in Chicago, IL; six children, Raymond Jr. of Phoenix, AZ, Suzanne (Robert) Pihl of Orland Park, IL, Patrick (Cynthia) Doran of Lockport, James (Socorrito) Doran of Valparaiso, IN, Erin (Scott) Simpson of Carlinville, IL and Jean (Daniel) Petrow of New Lenox, IL; 18 grandchildren; two great grandchildren; eight sisters, Dorothy Naughton, Lorraine McLaughlin, Virginia Baier, Sr. Anne Marie Doran R.S.M., Catherine McSorley, Marie Elsen, Margaret Hastings, and Barbara Novotny; one brother, Richard Doran and numerous nieces and nephews.
Preceded in death by three brothers, Edward, Gerald and Philip Doran.
Funeral services will be held from the R.W. Patterson Funeral Homes, LTD, Braidwood Chapel, Friday, January 19, 2001, 10:30 a.m. to the Immaculate Conception Church in Braidwood for Mass of Christian Burial at 11:00 a.m. with Fr. William Dewan celebrating. Interment Abraham Lincoln National Cemetery in Elwood, IL. Pallbearers will be Raymond Doran III, Michael Doran, Gregory Doran, Timothy Doran, Steven Pihl and Shaun Doran.
Visitation will be Thursday, January 18, from 2-9 p.m.

LaVerne L. Duckrow (nee Leeney)
Age 78, beloved wife of the late Albert L. Duckrow. Passed away Sunday, January 14, 2001 at home in Wilmington. born June 25, 1922 in Chicago and a thirty year resident of Palos Park, IL.
She served as a WAVE in the U.S. Navy during World War II. Retired at age 70 after working as an administrative assistant for a legal firm and a steel fabricating co.
Dearest sister of the late Geraldine (William) Bottger, Charles Patrick (Jeanne) Leeney, Robert (Marilyn) Leeney, Joan Coffey and Carol Donegan. Caring and matriarchal aunt for 32 nieces and nephews, 50 great and 5 great great nieces and nephews, and every one of them has a hand crocheted granny afghan. A dear friend to many.
LaVerne chose to donate her body to the Anatomical Gift Association of Illinois. A Memorial Mass will be celebrated at St. Francis of Assisi Church, 152nd and Wolf Rd, Orland Park on Saturday, January 20, 2001 at 10:30 AM. Memorial contributions may be sent to Joliet Area Community Hospice, 335 W. Jefferson, Joliet, IL 60435.

Carol J. Hoover (DeValk)
Age 56, Sunday, January 14, 2001, Palos Community Hospital, Palos Heights, Late of Mokena.
Survived by her loving children; three daughters, Laura Simpson, Megan and Sarah Hoover; two sons, William and Steven Simpson; a step daughter, Yvette (Scott) McGowan; four grandchildren, Samuel, Mason, Lindsie and Jennifer; her father, Arthur DeValk; and a brother, Glen (Ronda) DeValk.
Born in Chicago, living in Mokena the past 20 years.
Preceded in death by her loving husband, Logan W. Hoover, December 22, 2000, and her mother, Hilda (Dorn) DeValk.
Retired in 2000 from Allstate Insurance Co. after 17 years of service in the Joliet area; an active and faithful member of Peace Community Church, Frankfort.
Family will receive friends at the Kurtz Memorial Chapel, Cedar at Francis Roads, Tuesday, 4:00 to 8:00 pm. Lying in state 2:00 PM until time of service, Wednesday, January 17, 3:00 PM at the Peace Community Church with Pastor Jeff Moes officiating. Private interment will take place at Oakhill Cemetery, Watseka. Memorials to the Peace Community Church Building Fund would be appreciated.

Born in Joliet and a lifelong resident. Employed by U.S. Steel for 35 years, retiring in 1981.
