Virginia K. Willey (nee Akin)
Age 79, passed away Tuesday, January 23, 2001 at her residence in Bloomington, IL. She was born November 12, 1921 in Long Prairie, MN. to George Akin and Helen (Curvers).
She married Charles "Eddy" Willey; he preceded her in death on August 24, 1987. She enjoyed retirement years in Rockway Beach, MO, following a 20 year career as an L.P.N.
Survivors include one daughter, June (Paul) Kirschbaum of Orange Beach, FL; two sons, Jerry (Karen) Willey of Richton Park, IL, and Dr. Jay (Mary Jane) Willey of Gridley, IL; sisters-in-law, Laverne Akin, Genevieve Brown, Angela Willey, Betty Willey; several nieces and nephews; eight grandchildren and ten great-grandchildren.
Preceded in death by her husband, Charles "Eddy" Willey, her parents, George and Helen Curvers, and one brother, Duane Akin.
Cremation rites accorded. No funeral services. No visitation. Memorials to The American Heart Association or The American Cancer Society. East Lawn Funeral Home, Bloomington, IL, in charge of arrangements.

Mitchell "Mitch" Barach
Age 79, of Plainfield, IL and formerly of Chicago for 36 years, died Saturday, January 25, 2003 at home. He was born January 16, 1924 in Masontown, PA. Mr. Barach has been a Plainfield resident for 19 years. A member of St. Mary Immaculate Church of Plainfield, IL. Member of the Local Pipe Fitters Union #17 retiring in 1986. Served in the U.S. Navy as a signal man in World War II on the SS Jonathon. Member of the American Legion Post in Cicero, IL.
He is survived by his wife of 55 years, Dolores of Plainfield, his children, Mary (Ted) Flisk of Chicago and Mitch (Denise) of Plainfield, his five grandsons, Ted, Mike and Tom Flisk and Brandon and Steven Barach, his two great grandchildren, Jordan and Alex Flisk, his brother, Nick Barach of Crete, IL, his sister, Agnes Bartok of Cleveland, OH and numerous nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Nicholas and Mary Barach.
Visitation will take place from 3-9 p.m. Tuesday, January 28 at Overman-Jones Funeral Home, 309 Joliet Rd., Plainfield, IL. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Wednesday, January 29 at 10 a.m. at St. Mary Immaculate Church, 129 S. Division St. Plainfield, IL 60544. Entombment at Resurrection Cemetery in Romeoville, IL. In lieu of flowers, memorials to St. Thomas Hospice, 8230 S. Virginia R. Blotnik
At rest Saturday, January 25, 2003 at Provena Saint Joseph Medical Center. born June 30, 1921 in Joliet and a lifelong resident. Graduate of St. Raymond Grade School and Joliet Township High School. Lifetime member of the Cathedral of St. Raymond Nonnatus. A dedicated supporter of many charities throughout the Joliet area including numerous local catholic and church related charities.
Preceded in death by her parents, Frank and Louise (nee Dalian) Blotnik; four brothers, Frank, Louis, Joseph (Viola) and Peter (Frances) Blotnik; five sisters, Katherine (J. Edwin) Boelte, Elizabeth (Charles) Stein, Leona (Frank) Trapper, Margaret and Marie; and a niece, Ruth Ann Schuldt.
Survived by her faithful and loving nephew, Thomas L. (Patricia) Blotnik of Joliet; also nephews, John (Jan) Boelte of Mandaville, LA and Gerald (Hedy) Boelte of Pearlington, MS; nieces, Carolyn (John) Sanford of New Orleans, LA and Patricia (Dean) York of Creve Courer, IL. Numerous great nieces and nephews; her sister-in-law, Vida Hall; and several dear friends also survive.
Funeral Services for Virginia R. Blotnik will be Tuesday, January 28, 2003 at 9:15 AM from the funeral home chapel to the Cathedral of St. Raymond Nonnatus for a Mass of Christian Burial at 10 AM. Peter J. Escobedo
Age 71, passed away suddenly on Friday, January 24, 2003 at home. born in Blue Island, IL on June 3, 1931, retired as a manager of the Auto Center from Montgomery Wards in 1992, a United States Army Veteran of the Korean War.
Peter is survived by his devoted wife of 45 years, Margaret (nee Diaz); his beloved children Linda Kelleher and Peter J. Escobedo Jr. (Tami). He is the proud grandfather of Michael Escobedo of Merrillville, IN and Brian and Steven Kellehero of Sarasota, FL. Peter is also survived by his sisters, Margaret Ramirez of Blue Island, IL, Jessie Briola of Los Angeles, CA and a brother, Robert Escobedo of San Diego, CA. He will be sadly missed by many nieces, nephews, sisters and brothers-in-law.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Jesus and Carlota Escobedo, and a brother, Raymond Escobedo.

Age 75, late of Lockport, Thursday, January 23, 2003 at Hinsdale Hospital. born in Chicago, living in Lockport most of her life. Owner and operator of Mr. Steak Restaurant in Joliet from 1969-1980. Realtor for Bell Realty for 15 years, retiring in 1990. Active in Dist. 92 PTA, Will Co. 4-H, Will Co. Republican Party, former member of the Board of Directors for the Continental Inn, Key Colony Beach, FL, lifetime member of the 95th Infantry Division Assoc. "Iron Men of Metz" and original member of the Forest Hills Bridge/Canasta Card Club.
Preceded in death by her husband, Victor, her parents, Felix and Irene (Wolter) Ratajik. Survived by her children, April L. Rodighiero of Lockport, Debra E. Rodighiero of Denver, CO, Glenn V. (Corrine) of Shorewood, twin granddaughters Caitlyn and Nicole Rodighiero, a brother-in-law, Thomas (Jane) Rodeghiero of Lockport, and a cousin, Mildred Sekera of LaGrange Park. Carmella "Mela" J. Zuppa
Passed away at her residence Friday, January 24, 2003. Age 74 years.
Survived by her son, Edward A. Zuppa of Joliet, a granddaughter, Nora (Michael) Ryczek of Victorville, CA, two great-grandchildren, Samantha and Aaron Ryczek. Also aunts, uncles and several cousins.
Preceded in death by her husband Edward M. Zuppa (1995), her son, David M. Zuppa (2001) and her parents, George and Antonia Raymond.
Member of the Church of St. Anthony's and the CCW. She worked at Zayres Department Store, was a teller at First National Bank of Joliet and at Fredericks Bindery. Mela enjoyed bowling and fishing with her husband.
