Born in Manhattan, IL on December 30, 1911 to the late Mose and Nellie VanDuyne.
Owned and operated Van Duyne Salvage. Also Bait Shop. Member of St. Rose Catholic Church, Wilmington, IL.
Survived by his loving wife Helen nee Ginter. Two daughters, JoAnn (Richard) Hooper of Wilmington and Nicky Williams of Peoria, IL. Two brothers, Gene (Marlene) of Channahon, IL and Donald (Heda) of Lemont. One sister, Shirley Hubbell of AZ. Four grandchildren, Gina, Jamie, Shelley and Tanya. Seven great-grandchildren. One sister-in-law Dorothy of Wilmington.
Preceded by his parents, one brother Ray, one sister Nellie and one son Ronald.
Visitation on Thursday, February 1, 2001 at 9 a.m. until time of funeral services at 10:45 a.m. from the Reeves Funeral Home to St. Rose Catholic Church for a Mass at 11 a.m. Rev. Frank Vitus officiating.
Interment Mt. Olivet Cemetery, Wilmington.

Stanley J. Wojciechowski "Syke"
Age 85, January 30, 2001, his 58th wedding anniversary, at Provena St. Joseph Medical Center.
Survived by five children: Stanley J. (Lorraine), Daniel L. (Diane), Julius R. (Carol), Margaret C., and Theresa A. Wojciechowski; four grandchildren: Michael, Mark, Larissa, and Stephen Wojciechowski; a great-grandchild, Matthew Wojciechowski; a brother, John C. (Mary, deceased) Wojciechowski; a sister, Sophia (Joseph) Darin. Numerous nieces and nephews also survive.
Preceded in death by his wife, Margaret (nee Munich) Wojciechowski (1989); parents Julius and Theresa (nee Pegura) Wojciechowski; four brothers: Max and Frank "Fritzi" (Marie, deceased) Wojeske, and Joseph and Julius "Jiggs" Wojciechowski; three sisters: Mary (Edward, deceased) Glavan, Ann (Frank, deceased) Gersich, and Pauline (Michael, deceased) Machak.
Born in Joliet, he owned and operated Syke's Grocery Store for 11 years on the west side, after which he joined Joseph J. Maichin Grocery on West Jefferson where he was employed until his retirement in 1981. Lifetime member of Holy Cross Church, and, member of Mariners Society, Northwest Recreation Club, Joliet Moose Lodge #300, and Local Meat Cutters Union.

William "Bill" R. Bick, Sr.,
Age 71. Passed away Friday, February 6, 2004 at Provena St. Joseph Medical Center in Joliet, with his family by his side. born in Joliet on June 16, 1932 to the late Henry and Anna (nee Muentnich) Bick, and was a lifelong area resident.
William is survived by his beloved wife of 47 years, Elizabeth A. (nee Toth) Bick; loving father of, Patricia A. (Ben) Nurczyk, William R. (Peggy) Bick, Jr., Robert J. (Sharon) Bick, Kathleen (David) Papesh; dearest and proud grandfather "Poppy" of, Benjamin, Daniel and Jacob Nurczyk; Robert Jr., Jeremy and Jaime Bick; Alyssa Papesh and a new Grandbaby Papesh due to arrive in April. Numerous cousins, nieces, nephews, other relatives, as well as many special friends further survive him.
Preceded in death by two sisters, Elizabeth (Frank) smith and Marjorie Bick; and two brothers, Francis and Henry Bick.
Bill attended St. Patrick Grade School and graduated from Joliet Catholic High School. He was employed at U.S. Steel, and retired from Iron Workers Local #444, following 30 years of service. He was a veteran of the United States Army, having served in the Korean War, where he received numerous military honors and medals for his dedicated service. A member and devoted supporter of Joliet Catholic Football Alumni, a member of St. Patrick Church, and the Stone City Post. He was an avid fisherman and gardener, who enjoyed spending his pastimes collecting and creating a variety of fishing lures and working in his garden.

Catherine M. Budden Nee Marose
Age 75, late of Lockport, Friday, February 6, 2004 at her late residence. born in Chicago, living in Lockport for six years. Employed by Warshawsky for many years, retiring in 1990. Preceded in death by her husband Edward Sr., her parents Richard and Anna (Roache) Marose, her brothers Richard, David, Charles, Joseph, and William Marose, her sisters Margaret McCastland, Anna O'Connell and Mary Marose. Survived by her children Kathleen (Stephen) Anderson of Lockport, IL, Alice Zic of Alsip and Edward Jr. (Cara) Budden of Lockport, IL, 10 grandchildren, 8 great-grandchildren, her sisters Gladys (Steve) Kinchus of Geneva, IL, and Helen Stanley of Berwyn, IL. Several nieces and nephews also survive.

Leona C. Canaday
Age 104 of Sun City, Florida and formerly of Morris, passed away Wednesday February 4, 2004 at her home.
Born in the 19th Century on July 14, 1899 in Morris, she was a daughter of the late George and Emily (Heather) Palmer. Leona taught school in the Morris area for several years before marrying Raymon E. Canaday in 1920. Raymon was the Comptroller and C.E.O. of the Morris Wallpaper Co. Leona served in numerous philanthropic and social activities, including The Morris Country Club, Morris Baptist Church and P.E.O. order of the Eastern Star. She was a noted soloist, pianist and organist. In 1980 Leona moved to Florida and became a member of the United Methodist Church of Sun City.
Survivors include her loving children: Fae Canaday of Florida and Kenneth (the late Ruth) Canaday of Arkansas. Three grandsons Jim, Skip and Brett (Sue) Canaday, numerous great-grandchildren and great-great grandchildren, as well as nieces, nephews, cousins and friends, including her dear caregiver Marie Norris of Florida.
Leona was preceded in death by her parents, husband Raymon, four sisters: Ethel (Byron) Hunt, Gertrude (Roy) Johnson, Mabel (Jack) Heather and Juanita (Charles) Reeves. Two brothers: Wellington and Lester Palmer and other infant siblings, as well as her daughter-in-law Ruth Graham Canaday.
Visitation will be Monday February 9, 2004 from 3-7PM at Reeves Funeral Home-408 E. Washington Street in Morris. Funeral services will follow on Tuesday February 10th at 11AM in the funeral home with Reverend Donald Conrod officiating. Burial will be in Evergreen Cemetery in Morris. Age 94. Passed away suddenly at Silver Cross Hospital, Thursday, February 5, 2004.
Survived by her son Wayner (Sharon) of Plainfield; seven grandchildren, Brian (Vicki), Gary, Mark, Scott, Mike, Steve Donaldson and Paige (Steve) Martin; ten great-grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; her brother, Bert (late Vera) Brandon of Joliet; two sisters, Gladys (late John) King of Shorewood and Evonne (Donald) Bedwell of Joliet; several nieces and nephews.

Lawrence Lovera
Age 81, passed away Thursday, February 5, 2004 at Sunny Hill Skilled Rehab Center.
Larry was retired from Caterpillar after 32 years of service; a U.S. Army Veteran of World War II; a life-member of Stone City Post VFW #2199 and a member of Caterpillar Retirees Club. He was a "loyal Cubs fan".
Preceded in death by his parents Lawrence and Maria Lovera and two sisters.
Survived by his loving wife, Diana (nee Lenci) Lovera; one daughter, Diane (Mark) Brown; two grandchildren, Erik and Amie Brown; two brothers, Peter and Joseph Lovera; numerous nieces and nephews also survive.

Frank A. Matesi
Age 92. Passed away on Thursday, February 5, 2004 at home with his family by his side. He was born in Freeport, IL, on September 28, 1911. He lived in Sicily with family during his youth, later returning to America, he lived most of his adult life in Joliet. For the past ten years he has resided in Naperville.
Frank is survived by his wife, Mary (nee Pistilli) Matesi; three daughters, Eva Jean (Michael) Conway, Dr. Annette (Richard) Moore and Dr. Margo (Leslie) Wolf; five grandchildren, four great-grandchildren, a sister, four brothers and several cousins.
Frank was preceded in death by his parents, Anton and Anna Matesi, two sisters, a brother and a grandson.

Age 40. At rest suddenly Friday, February 6, 2004. born in Joliet and a lifelong resident. Graduate of Joliet Catholic High School Class of 1980. Formerly employed by the University of St. Francis. An avid fisherman.
Surviving are his three sisters, Judith A. Mitok of Joliet, Cheryl A. Cottrell of Joliet and Patricia A. Mitok-Rosalez of Austin, TX. His brother, Richard P. (Roberta) Mitok of Morton, IL. Dear nephew and godchild of Fran Mitok of Joliet. Beloved uncle of Elizabeth, Rose and Mary Cottrell, Richard Mitok III and Christopher D. Rosalez.
