Marie Kathryn Johnson (nee Dvorak)
Age 85, of Essex, IL passed away Thursday, February 13, 2003 at the Embassy Care Center in Wilmington, IL where she had been a resident for the past five years.
The family would like to express a special thanks to the staff and administrators of Embassy Care Center for their care, concern and helpfulness during her residency. Marie was born on May 18, 1917 in Torino, IL to the late James and Jennie (nee Enrietta) Dvorak. She married William Johnson June 20, 1936. They lived their entire lives together in Essex. Marie was a homemaker and mother. She started the lunch program at the Essex Grade School (RUCE District), retiring after 30 years. She also started the lunchroom at the South Wilmington Sportsman Club in Essex where she held a lifetime membership, retiring from there after 30 years of service. She was a member of the United Methodist Church and the united Methodist Women in Essex, having served both in many capacities. She was also a Lady Lion and was a active member of her community all her life.
Surviving are her daughter, Rena Jo (Robert) Snyder of Plainfield, IL; son, Michael W. Johnson of Essex; granddaughters, Karla Snyder Witkiewicz of Plainfield, IL and Jennifer Snyder of Chicago, IL; grandsons, Shane Johnson of Essex and Chad Johnson of Ft. Benning, Georgia; great granddaughter, Kate Witkiewicz of Plainfield; a sister, Florence (Telio) Palazzini of Essex; sisters-in-law, Margaret Dvorak of Essex, Jessie (Kenneth) Mau of Dwight, IL and Nona Schultz of Dwight; and many nephews and nieces.
Preceding her in death were her husband, William; and a brother, James Dvorak.
Funeral Services will be held at the R. W. Patterson Funeral Homes, Ltd, Braidwood Chapel, Monday, February 17, at 10:30 AM with Rev. Dan Harding officiating. Interment will be in the North Cemetery in Essex, IL. The pallbearers will be Shane Johnson, Dave Dvorak, Danny Ford, Don Halpin, Gene Gadbois and Joe Silvey. The visitation will be Sunday, February 16, 2003 from 3 to 7 PM. Memorials in her name to the United Methodist Church in Essex would be appreciated.

Anthony J. Kamnikar
Age 94. Was born December 26, 1908 in Joliet, Illinois and passed away on February 12, 2003 in Dadeville, AL. He worked for the American Can Company in Rockdale for 28.5 years and for Folger Adams in Joliet until he retired in 1973. Tony Kamnikar was elected a Councilman for the Village of Rockdale in 1935 and continued to serve in that capacity through 1967. He was an officer of the Rockdale Community Credit Union, a member of the Slovenia Home of Joliet and the Holy Name Society of St. Joseph's Church, Rockdale, Illinois.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Bernadine (Lozar); his parents, John Kamnikar and Mayme (Gale) Kamnikar; two brothers, John and Frank,; and one sister, Mary (Leo) Colaric.
He is survived by two sons, Anthony "Bud" (Lee) Kamnikar of South Haven, Michigan and Edward G. (Judith) Kamnikar of Montgomery, Alabama; four grandchildren, Karen (John) Deschaine of South Haven, Michigan, Lisa (Richard) Kamnikar-Chamberlain of Montgomery, Alabama, Stacy Kamnikar of Weston, Colorado and Anthony "Tony" Kamnikar of Fort Wayne, Indiana; great-grandchildren are Sarah and Anne Chamberlain of Montgomery, Alabama and Jonathon, Madalyn, and Genevieve Descheine of South Haven, Michigan.

Edward R. LaPage
Age 67, of Wilmington, IL passed away suddenly Wednesday, February 12, 2003 at his home.
Born in Chicago on August 14, 1935 to the late Harold and Madge LaPage.
Mr. LaPage was a member of the First United Methodist Church of Wilmington, and lifetime honorary member of Hawg Hunters Bass Club. He owned and operated Ed's Reel Repair and was retired from Davis Machine.
Survivors include his two loving daughters and sons-in-law, Laura and Tom Martin and Diane and Barry Oswald; one brother, Allen (Jewell) LaPage and five grandchildren, Angela and Melissa Martin, Douglas and David Francis and Colin Oswald all of Wilmington; one niece, Dawn (Mike) Viano of Morris, IL and his sister-in-law, Charlotte Vikstrom and her family of Chicago.
He is preceded by his parents, as well as his wife, Janet, whom he married on June 23, 1956.
Visitation will be held on Monday, February 17, 2003 from 4:00 p.m. until time of funeral service 7:00 p.m. at The First United Methodist Church of Wilmington, 401 E. Kahler Road in Wilmington. Rev. David Lagos-Fonseca and Rev. Shirley Pulgar-Hughes will be officiating and cremation rite will be accorded thereafter.

Age 51. At rest Wednesday, February 12, 2003 at Silver Cross Hospital suddenly of a brain aneurysm.

Kimball was born in Joliet and resided in the Joliet area. He was a past employee of U.S. Steel and Fomax, Inc., currently President and COO of Bomarko Inc. He also was a member of St. George Serbian Orthodox Church where he was Second Vice President and member of the Mita Topalovich Choir, Treasurer of the American Serbian Social Club, member of Serbian National Federation #97. Received his bachelors degree in Forestry at the University of Illinois and his masters degree in Business Management at the University of St. Francis. Was an Adjunct Professor of Graduate Studies at the University of St. Francis Business College. Kimball was loved by all who had the privilege to know him. Words such as honorable, selfless and compassionate have been used to describe him. He was a true leader an role model for his children, who along with his dear wife, were the most important parts of his life. Age 73. Passed away on Thursday, February 13, 2003 at Silver Cross Hospital. Late of Romeoville.
He is survived by his wife, Betty (nee Witherspoon); one son, John R. (fiancee Carolyn Werner) Pemberton and one stepson, Larry A. Stanfill. Also survived by two grandchildren, Heather and Travis Pemberton; one brother, John H. Pemberton; two sisters, Doris (Gene) Houpt and Mrs. Evelyn Shepherd as well as many nieces and nephews.
Born in Colfax, IL. Living in Romeoville for 43 years.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Frank and Elsie (nee Brammer) Pemberton; and one sister, Yvonne Brummett.
Served as a veteran in the U.S. Army. During the Occupation of Japan, he was selected to serve as a personal bodyguard to General of Armies, Douglas MacArthur. During the Korean War he served as a Platoon SGT in Medium Tank Company attached to the 19th Infantry Regiment.
He retired from General Motors (Fisher Body) after 34 years.

Died at age 90 on February 18, 2003 at his home in Sun City, AZ. born in Morris, IL on April 23, 1912. Graduated from Morris High School and attended the University of Iowa. Served in the Army Air Corps during World War II. Worked in Joliet for Commonwealth Edison Co. for 43 years. Member of First Presbyterian Church of Joliet.
Preceded in death by his parents, brother Benjamin F. Angus and son Donald M. Angus Jr. Survived by sister Harriet Washburn of Morris, wife Phebe (nee Holderman), son Kenneth (Royce VanDerLinden) of Surprise, AZ, daughter Pamela (John) Bollaert of Silvis, IL, four grandchildren, Amy (Stefan) Nemeth, Elizabeth, Andrew and Brandon Bollaert. Maryann K. Cimino nee Pero, age 56, died suddenly Saturday, February 22, 2003 at her home in Jackson Twp. She is survived by her husband of 36 years, Eugene Cimino of Jackson Twp, one daughter Gina (Dan) Boggs of Joliet, one son Richard (Lydia) Cimino of Elwood, two grandchildren Michael and Emma Boggs and her mother, Mary A. Pero of Elwood. She was a daughter-in-law to Mildred Cimino and a sister-in-law to Mike (Kathy) Cimino, Bob (Carol) Cimino and Barb (Chuck) Giaimo. Numerous nieces and nephews.
Preceded in death by her father, Harry F. Pero, father-in-law Samuel Cimino and brother-in-law Frank Cimino.
Maryann loved the outdoors and all nature had to offer. She was especially fond of animals and gardening.
