GALESBURG - James F. Ausman, 61, 643 N. Prairie St., died at 11:10 p.m. Sunday (Oct. 12, 2003) in Galesburg Cottage Hospital.
He was born July 8, 1942, in Canastota, N.Y., the son of Floyd F. and Edith W. Whitney Ausman.
Surviving are a son, Jack Lee Ausman; and three brothers, William (and Donna) Ausman, Canastota, John (and DiAnne) Ausman, Fort Worth, Texas, and David (and Joan) Ausman, Bow, N.H. He was preceded in death by his parents and a sister.
He attended schools in New York.
He worked in factories and as a laborer.
Graveside service will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday in East Linwood Cemetery, with the Rev. Steve Rigdon officiating. No visitation is planned. Hinchliff-Pearson-West Galesburg Chapel is in charge of arrangements.
Memorials may be made to any charity.

GALESBURG - G. LeRoy Ayers, 77, 720 Century Estates, died at 2:44 p.m. Saturday (Dec. 6, 2003) in Heartland Health Care Center.
He was born July 2, 1926, in Peoria, the son of Walter L. and Callie B. Johnson Ayers.
He married Rose Mary Mathers. He married Linda Graflin in Galesburg. She preceded him in death.
Surviving are two daughters, Debbie (and David) Begner and Bonnie J. (and Clifford) Lee, both of Galesburg; a sister, Marilee (and Phil) Theobald, Galesburg; three grandchildren and a great-grandchild. He was preceded in death by his parents.
He was an Air Force veteran of World War II.
He worked as a breadman at the former Lucky Boy Bread Co., Pepperidge Farms and Sunbeam, all in Galesburg, for 35 years, retiring in 1991.
He was a member of Ralph M. Noble American Legion Post 285.
Funeral will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday in Hinchliff-Pearson-West Galesburg Chapel, with the Rev. Thomas Heather officiating. Visitation will be from 1 to 2 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home. Burial will be in East Linwood Cemetery, with military honors by American Legion Post 285.
Memorials may be made to the Gordon Behrents Senior Center or to the family.

GALESBURG - Rosemary R. Ayers, 72, 366 N. Cherry St., died at 1:10 p.m. Wednesday (June 18, 2003) in Galesburg Cottage Hospital.
She was born June 7, 1931, in Raritan, the daughter of Russell and Ida Wright Mathers.
She married LeRoy Ayers on June 26, 1949, in Galesburg.
Surviving are two daughters, Debbie (and Dave) Begner and Bonnie (and Cliff) Lee, both of Galesburg; two sisters, Alice M. Fidler, Avon, and Carolyn (and Raymond) Griffith, Galesburg; three grandchildren and one great-grandchild. She was preceded in death by her parents and two sisters.
She graduated from Galesburg High School in 1949 and Dooley's School of Cosmetology School, Galesburg, in 1967.
She was the owner and operator of Hair Happening for 36 years. She also worked for the former O.T. Johnson.
She was a member of the Central Congregational Church since 1972.
Funeral will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at Hinchliff-Pearson-West Galesburg Chapel, with the Rev. John D. Carson Jr. officiating. Visitation will be from 10 to 11 a.m. Saturday at the chapel. Burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery.

TUCSON, Ariz. - Marion (Salty) Root Ayre, 87, Tucson, died Tuesday (July 27, 2004) in Tucson.
She was born in Galesburg, the daughter of Nina and Otis Root.
She married Delbert Ayre. He died in 1986.
Surviving are two nieces, Cathy (and Mark) Wilson, Galesburg, and Judith Ann Root (and Charles) Pease, Greenville, S.C.
She graduated from Galesburg High School, Brown's Business College and Augustana Pediatric School of Nursing.
She served three years in the Navy Medical Corps.
She was active in Our Savior's Lutheran Church in Tucson and volunteered for the Salvation Army.
Services will be at 10 a.m. Friday in Our Savior's Lutheran Church.
Memorials may be made to her church, Shriner's Crippled Children's Fund or the Salvation Army.

BRIMFIELD - Charles E. (Ebbie) Foster, 88, Brimfield, died at 7:15 a.m. Thursday (Sept. 16, 2004), at home.
He was born July 29, 1916, near Maquon, the son of Samuel B. and Mabel Taylor Foster.
He married Kathryn Reents on July 22, 1939, in Burlington, Iowa.
Surviving are his wife, and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by four brothers and two sisters.
He lived in Albuquerque, N.M., for three years, moving to Marietta, Ga., where he lived for 41 years and was a machinist supervisor at Lockheed Aircraft, retiring in 1977, when he moved to Brimfield.
He was a member of St. Paul's Lutheran Church of Brimfield.
Funeral will be at 11 a.m. Monday at St. Paul's Lutheran Church, with the Rev. Michael Liese officiating. Visitation will be one hour before the service Monday at the church. Burial will be in St. Paul's Lutheran Cemetery. Patterson Funeral Home, Elmwood, is in charge of arrangements.

ALTONA - Kathryn Norene, 85, 305 Johnson-Pyle Drive, died at 7:40 a.m. Thursday (Sept. 16, 2004) in Rosewood Health Care Center, Galesburg, of natural causes.
She was born Aug. 22, 1919, in Victoria, the daughter of Edward and Marie Serles Nelson.
She married Earl Raymond Norene on Nov. 5, 1941, in Altona. He died Jan. 30, 1997.
Surviving are two daughters, Janice Kent, Frankfort, and Joyce Norene, Altona; a son, Brian Norene, Altona; a brother, Robert Nelson, Peoria; three grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, a brother and a half-sister.
She graduated from Walnut Grove Township High School in 1936.
She was a homemaker and worked at Kewanee Dry Goods Company.
She was a member of Immanuel Lutheran Church in Altona.
Graveside services will be at 11 a.m. Saturday in Altona Cemetery, with the Rev. Tim Anderson officiating. There will be no visitation. Hurd-Hendricks Funeral Home, Oneida, is in charge of arrangements.

MOLINE - Arthur E. Pearson, 90, Moline, formerly of Galva, died at 5 a.m. Thursday (Sept. 16, 2004) in Robertson Health Care, Aledo.
He was born July 5, 1914, in Galva, the son of Nels and Frieda Nelson Pearson.
He married Alveretta Bauders. He married Georgia A. Kildow on Nov. 29, 1969, in Moline.
Surviving are his wife; a son, Steve (and Soon) Pearson, Duncan; a daughter, Judy (and Jim) Kelley, Rome, Ill.; four stepsons, Dan Adamson, Rock Island, Lanny (and Chris) Adamson, East Moline, Jeff (and Joan) Adamson, Moline, and Wes (and Lisa) Schmook, Buffalo, Iowa; a stepdaughter, Cheryl Ruby, Bettendorf, Iowa; two brothers, Leland Pearson, Galva, and Vernon Pearson, LaJolla, Calif.; a sister, Arlene Cemeska, Chillicothe; 20 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers, a sister and a stepson, Randy Adamson.
He farmed and was a mechanic in the Galva area.
He had been a member of the Moose Lodge.
Funeral will be at 1 p.m. Monday in Rux Funeral Home, Galva, with Russell Philips officiating. Visitation will be from 11:30 a.m. until the service at the funeral home. Burial will be in Galva Cemetery.

BERWICK - James Herman Adwell, 78, Stevenson, Ala., formerly of Berwick, died Thursday (Sept. 16, 2004) in Jackson County Hospital, Scottsboro, Ala.
He was born Aug. 28, 1926, in Cave City, Ky., the son of Harry and Lucille Isenberg Adwell.
He married Donnalee Meachum on June 1, 1947, in Berwick.
Surviving are his wife; a daughter, Myra Kay (and Herb) Lloyd, Bremmen, Ala.; a son, Gale (and Joyce) Adwell, Galesburg; a sister, Shirley Ford, Galesburg; eight grandchildren and four great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents and two infant brothers.
He graduated from Abingdon High School in 1944.
He worked at Midwest Manufacturing in Galesburg and was a custodian and bus driver for Abingdon School District 217.
He moved to Stevenson in 1971 and drove a truck at Fabius Coal Mine.He later worked and retired from H.D. Lee Overall Factory in Stevenson.
He was Boy Scout leader for 18 years and was a member of Edgefield Church of Christ in Stevenson.
Graveside service will be at 11 a.m. Monday in Berwick Cemetery, with the Rev. Daniel Siems officiating.Friends may call from 4 to 6 p.m. Sunday at Hinchliff-Pearson-West Abingdon Chapel.

GALESBURG - Marion H. Venell, 98, formerly of 93 Olive St., died at 4:05 p.m. Thursday (Sept. 16, 2004) in Seminary Manor.
She was born Feb. 18, 1906, in Galesburg, the daughter of Henry S. and Emily G. Carlson Venell.
Surviving are cousins and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents and two brothers.
She graduated from Galesburg High School in 1924, from Lombard College in 1928 and from the University of Illinois in 1942.
She was a school teacher and dean of girls at Lombard Junior High School, retiring in 1970.
She was a member of the Retired Teachers Association, the Knox/Lombard 50 year club and St. Margaret's Guild.She was an officer with the Knox County Teachers Credit Union and a past member of the Business and Professional Womens Group.
She was a member of Grace Episcopal Church and a Sunday school superintendant.
Funeral will be at 10 a.m. Monday in Grace Episcopal Church, with the Rev. Thomas Janikowski officiating.There will be no visitation.Burial will be in Linwood Cemetery.
Memorials may be made to her church.
