PHOENIX, Ariz. - Gerald Dion, 65, died Thursday (Jan. 27, 2005) in Phoenix.
He was born Sept. 12, 1939, in Elgin, Ill., the son of LeRoy Dion and Ethel Wells.
Surviving are his mother of Galesburg, Ill.; two daughters, Julie Olson, Phoenix, and Diane Butler, Minot, N.D.; two sons, Brian Dion and Leroy Dion, both of Colorado Springs, Colo.; a brother, Gunny Wells, Galesburg; a sister, Doris Kilpatrick, Chicago; five grandchildren; a great-grandson; and nieces and nephews.
He worked in electricity and mechanics.
Menke Funeral Home, Sun City, was in charge of arrangements.
Memorials may be made to a local mental health organization, veterans organization or hospice group.

GALESBURG - Sandra K. Newman, 61, 1348 N. Henderson, died at 6:35 p.m. Sunday (Jan. 30, 2005) in OSF St. Mary Medical Center of natural causes.
She was born Jan. 21, 1944, in Galesburg, the daughter of George and Dorothy Steele Kunkle.
She married William Newman on Dec. 25, 1976, in Wataga. He died Jan. 1, 1996.
Surviving are three daughters, Michelle Kunkle, Kelley (and Scott Simpson) Kunkle and Misty (and George Czyz) Newman, all of Acworth, Ga.; two sisters, Patricia Scott, Galesburg, and Mary (and Russell) Westfall, Wataga; two brothers, Ronnie (and Anna Lee) Kunkle, Wataga, and Richard (and Pat) Kunkle, Knoxville; nine grandchildren and three great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents.
Cremation will be accorded. Services will be at later date. Hurd-Hendricks Funeral Home, Knoxville, is in charge of arrangements.

MOUNTAIN HOME, Ark. - Lou Ellen Gosdin, 82, Mountain Home, Ark., died Jan. 23, 2005, in Mountain Home.
She was born Nov. 8, 1922, in Duncan, Okla., the daughter of Jack and Elga Cubley Wilson.
She married Harold Gosdin on Oct. 15, 1939. He died Oct. 19, 1995.
Surviving are two sons, Harold (and Corie) Gosdin, Gainesville, Mo., and Mark (and Rita) Gosdin, Porum, Okla.; a daughter, Gwen (and Harold) Carr, Knoxville, Ill.; a sister, Evelyn Cherry, Denison, Texas; 12 grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents and a sister.
She graduated from Durant Oklahoma High School in 1940 and attended Southeastern State College.
She worked at Perrin Air Force Base in Texas and for the U.S. Department of Agriculture, retiring in 1983.
She was a member of the National Association of Retired Federal Employees and the American Association of Retired Persons. She also was a member of Bethel Baptist Church in Galesburg, Ill., and First Baptist Church in Durant, Okla.
Graveside service was Jan. 27 in Highland Cemetery Chapel, Durant, Okla. Dalton-Holmes Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
Memorials may be made to Gideons International or to a charity of the donor's choice.
William L. Ennis

GALESBURG - William L. Ennis, 63, 1318 W. Losey St., died Saturday (Jan. 29, 2005) in his home.
He was born Aug. 4, 1941, in Waynesville, Mo., the son of Robert L. and Alice E. Alexander Ennis.
Surviving are a son, Tony Ennis, Galesburg; two daughters, Cynthia Bolt, Galesburg, and Allison McElhiney, Avon; two sisters, Sharon Spivey, Naples, Fla., and Shirley Courson, Galesburg; and five grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents and a son, Rodney Ennis.
He was raised in Avon and worked as a diesel mechanic in the area.
Cremation was accorded. Burial will be at a later date. Corman Memorial Home, Avon, is in charge of arrangements.
Wesley B. Fritz

GALESBURG - Wesley B. Fritz, 73, 388 N. Cherry St., died at 7:10 a.m. Monday (Jan. 31, 2005) in OSF St. Mary Medical Center.
He was born Nov. 12, 1931, in Fulton County, the son of Rollo and Mildred Babbitt Fritz.
He married Patty Clark on June 29, 1952, in Galesburg.
Surviving are two sons, Gregory (and Deborah) Fritz, Galesburg, and Timothy (and Lynn) Fritz, Lynn Center; a daughter, Lisa Gibson, Moline; a brother, Donald (and Beverly) Fritz, Rio; and six grandchildren.
He graduated from ROVA High School in 1949, and attended Western Illinois University, Macomb, for two years.
He was a farmer and worked for J&S Farms in Rio for 41 years.He retired in 1995.
He was a member of First Presbyterian Church of Galesburg, American Legion Post 727 of Oneida, and Rio Masonic Lodge 685, where he was a past master and past secretary, and was a past Cub Scout scoutmaster in Rio.
He lived in Rio and Galesburg.
He served in the Army from 1952 to 1954 and was stationed in Germany.
Funeral will be at 10 a.m. Thursday in Hinchliff-Pearson-West Galesburg Chapel, with the Rev. Carolyn Weber officiating.Visitation will be from 6:30 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at the chapel.Burial will be in Oak Lawn Memorial Gardens, where military rites will be accorded by Ralph M. Noble American Legion Post 285.
Memorials may be made to the Parish Nurse Program at First Presbyterian Church or the youth program of First Presbyterian Church.

PUYALLUP, Wash. - L. Pearl Sweborg, 89, Puyallup, Wash., formerly of Galesburg, died at 6:30 a.m. Saturday (Jan. 29, 2005) in Regency of Puyallup.
She was born March 7, 1915, in Bethel, Mo., the daughter of Earl and Esther Olson Baker.
She married Emery V. Sweborg on July 2, 1938, in Galesburg.He died Sept. 10, 1990.
Surviving are a son, Roger (and Alice) Sweborg, Sbanaway, Wash.; two grandsons and three great-granddaughters.She was preceded in death by two sisters.
She worked for the Spiegel Catalog Store in Galesburg for 10 years.
She was a member of Bethel Baptist Church in Galesburg, where she was a deaconess and a Sunday school teacher.
She lived in Galesburg most of her life and in the state of Washington for the past three years.
Funeral will be at 10:30 a.m. Friday in Hinchliff-Pearson-West Galesburg Chapel, with the Rev. Lee Johnson officiating.Visitation will be 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. Friday at the chapel.Burial will be in Oak Lawn Memorial Gardens.

GALESBURG - William G. Roehlk, 73, 391 Fair Acres Drive, died at 9:12 a.m. Tuesday (Feb. 1, 2005) in OSF St. Francis Medical Center, Peoria.
He was born Aug. 21, 1931, in Davenport, Iowa, the son of Waldo E. and Carma Goettsch Roehlk.
He married Deanna Harmson in Davenport, Iowa. He later married Sheila Ann Grone on Aug. 21, 1971, in Galesburg.
Surviving are his wife, Sheila; two sons, Brett Roehlk, Cedar Rapids, Iowa, and Douglas Roehlk, Las Vegas; one daughter, Susan (and Jeff) Buch, Fairfield, Iowa; one sister, R. Louise (and George) White, Crescent City, Calif.; one aunt, Lola Roehlk, Durant, Iowa; one uncle, Edward (and Alma) Roehlk, Bettendorf, Iowa; 10 grandchildren; one niece; and cousins.He was preceded in death by his parents.
He graduated from Durant High School in 1949, from Iowa State Teachers College now University of Northern Iowa, in 1952, and earned his master's degree from Colorado State College in 1957.
He served in the Air Force for four years during the Korean War as a fighter pilot flying an F86 fighter jet.He survived three airplane crashes while in the service.
He taught business classes and the work study program for Galesburg High School from 1959 to 1987.He also sold real estate for Prairie Realty in Knoxville and operated Galesburg Realty and Prairie Tax Services.He took photographs for Holcomb Studio for 10 years.He also taught, was a bus driver, assistant principal, physical education teacher and also coached in Steamboat Rock, Iowa; and taught business classes and sponsored the yearbook in Calmar, Iowa.He was the assistant Galesburg baseball coach with Bob Frank.He retired in 1987.
He was a past treasurer of the Galesburg Realtor Association, and a member of the American Federation of Teachers, the Knoxville American Legion Post 749 and the Knights of Columbus.
He was a member of Corpus Christi Catholic Church.
Funeral will be at 10 a.m. Saturday in Immaculate Heart of Mary Catholic Church, with the Rev. Ernest Pizzamiglio officiating. Visitation will be 4 to 7 p.m. Friday at Hinchliff-Pearson-West Galesburg Chapel, with a Celebration of Life at 7 p.m.Burial will be in St. Joseph Cemetery, with military honors conducted by Ralph M. Noble American Legion Post 285. Family will receive friends at the McAteer Center on Prairie Street following the services.
Memorials may be made to the Galesburg High School Baseball Batting Cage or Infield Tarps, or to the Galesburg Little League, or to the Costa Catholic School Tuition Fund.

CHILLICOTHE - Franklin E. Stoecker, 70, 4509 Lakeland Lane, died at 1:30 p.m. Monday (Jan. 31, 2005) in OSF St. Francis Medical Center, Peoria.
He was born Jan. 24, 1935, in Peoria County, the son of John and Julia Britton Stoecker.
He married Sharon K. Berry on Feb. 14, 1962, in Peoria. She died March 24, 2004.
Surviving are two daughters, Lisa (and Tim) Crutcher and Crystal (and Richard) Hayward, both of Chillicothe; one son, Franklin E. (and Amy) Stoecker, Peoria; three brothers, Joseph (and Marilyn) Stoecker of Christopher, William (and Ruby) Downer, Abingdon, and Ronald Stoecker, Peoria; 12 grandchildren and five great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers and one sister.
He worked for roofing companies before he owned and operated Stoecker Roofing Company for 18 years. He also owned and operated Stoecker L.P. Gas Company for five years.
He was an Army veteran, serving during the Korean War.
He was of the Christian faith.
Funeral will be at 2 p.m. Friday in Weber-Hurd Funeral Home, with the Rev. Terry Cassidy officiating. Visitation will be one hour before the service Friday at the funeral home. Burial will be in Chillicothe City Cemetery, with military rites conducted by Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 4999 and American Legion Post 9 of Chillicothe.
