YATES CITY - Sterling Richard "Dick" Booth Jr., 74, rural Yates City, died at 5:17 a.m. Thursday (May 6, 2004) in Methodist Medical Center, Peoria.
He was born April 20, 1930, in Manito, the son of Sterling R. Sr. and Greta Golden Booth.
He married Charlotte Sherman on July 6, 1952, in Elba Center.
Surviving are his wife; his mother of Chillicothe; a son, Richard Lee (and Jody) Booth, Elmwood; two daughters, Sarah Jean (and Greg) Riss, Webster Grove, Mo., and Mary Lynn (and Nathan) Mims, Galesburg; four brothers, James (and Margaret) Booth, Galesburg, Bob (and Lisa) Booth, Peoria, Pat (and Becky) Booth, East Peoria, and Mike (and Lana) Booth, Chillicothe; two sisters, Barbara (and Pete) Peterson, Pharr, Texas, and Sharon Whitney, Moline; six grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; and nieces and nephews.
He worked as a patent agent at Caterpillar and had several patents credited to his name.
He was a member of the Society of Automotive Engineers, Peoria County Farm Bureau, Illinois Council 1 of Knoxville, Mohammed Shriners of Peoria,York Rite Masons of Peoria and Order of the Red Cross of Constantine, Peoria.
He was president of Elba-Salem Fire Protection Trustees and past fire chief, on the board and area representative of directors of Illinois Association of Fire Protection Districts, a 50-year member of Yates City Masonic Lodge 448 and a 50-year member and past High Priest of Royal Arch of Yates City ad a dual member and marshal of Eastern Star of Galesburg Chapter 235. He served on the Eastern Star Home Board from 1988 to 1993 and was secretary, vice president and president, and a Cub Scout leader. He was a 50-year member and chaplain of Order of Eastern Star Yates City Chapter 256, was worthy patron seven times and was appointed Grand Representative of Maine in Illinois for 2000-2001.
He was a member of Faith United Presbyterian Church in Yates City, served on several boards and was a Sunday school teacher.
Funeral will be at 11 a.m. Monday in Patterson Funeral Home, Elmwood, with the Rev. Sharon Treptow officiating. Visitation will be from 4 to 7 p.m Sunday at the funeral home, with Masonic service at 6:30 p.m. Burial will be in Yates City Cemetery.
Memorials may be made to Elba-Salem Protection District or Yates City Masonic Lodge.
Booton, Harold A.

GALESBURG - Harold A. Booton, 81, 1520 W. Losey St., died at 11:38 a.m. Saturday (Jan. 10, 2004), in Galesburg Cottage Hospital.
He was born March 14, 1922, in Warren County, the son of Charles and Callie Avery Booton.
He married Edna M. Martinson on Jan. 11, 1945, in Galesburg.
Surviving are his wife; two sons, Alan (and Judy) Booton, Riverside, and David (and Betsey) Booton, Peoria; three daughters, Donna Booton, Peoria, Carol (and Robert) Neal, Galesburg, and Cheryl Bosenberg, Rawlins, Wyo.; one brother, Roy (and Eileen) Booton, Milan; 11 grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by three brothers.
He worked for W.A. Jordan Co., Burlington Truck Lines, and later for Maytag Transportation, retiring in 1985.
He served in the U.S. Navy during World War II from 1942 to 1945 in the Pacific Theater.
He was a member and past deacon of the First Presbyterian Church, and was a volunteer for the Red Cross.
Funeral will be at 1:30 p.m. Tuesday at Hinchliff-Pearson-West Galesburg Chapel, with the Rev. Stephen Bibb officiating. Visitation will be from 6:30 to 8 p.m. Monday at the chapel. Burial will be at Oak Lawn Memorial Gardens, where military honors will be conducted by Ralph M. Noble American Legion Post 285.

GENESEO - Florence C. Borkgren, 84, Geneseo, died Friday (Jan. 23, 2004), at Hillcrest Home, Geneseo.
She was born March 1, 1919, in Geneseo, the daughter of William V. and Rose Zimmerman Gradert.
She married Maurice C. Borkgren on Feb. 1, 1937, in Moline. He died Oct. 19, 1973.
Surviving are three sons, Clifford (and Ann) Borkgren, Henderson, Terry (and Terri) Borkgren, Galesburg, and Thomas (and Marilyn) Borkgren, Geneseo; a daughter-in-law, Judy Borkgren, Geneseo; 10 grandchildren, 22 great-grandchildren and six stepgreat-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, one son, Richard "Whitey" Borkgren, four brothers and a sister.
She was raised and educated in Geneseo.
She was a member of First Presbyterian Church, Women of the Moose 577, and a former member of Geneseo American Legion Auxiliary, all of Geneseo.
Funeral will be at 10:30 a.m. Monday at Stackhouse-Moore Funeral Services, Geneseo, with the Rev. Dr. David Esche officiating. Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. Sunday at Myers Chapel. Burial will be in Oakwood Cemetery, Geneseo.

ALEXIS - Charlene E. Born, 52, 1759 270th Ave., died at 8:20 a.m. Thursday (Dec. 11, 2003) at home.
She was born Nov. 30, 1951, in Henning, Tenn., the daughter of Charles Malcolm and Maudie Lee Scott Turner.
She married William D. "Bill" born in Oswego.
Surviving are her husband; a son, Keith M. Keltner, Chicago; two daughters, Krissy (and Shawn) Smith, Deputy, Ind., and Kelley (and Brian) Larkin, Galesburg; two brothers, Gene Turner, Henning, Tenn., and William (and Paula) Turner, Memphis, Tenn.; a sister, Pat (and Ken) Gengler, Norfork, Ark.; and two grandsons.
She graduated from Ripley High School, Ripley, Tenn., and received an RN degree from Waubonsee College, Sugar Grove, Ill.
She lived in Alexis since August 1991.
She worked as a registered nurse in home health care and had worked at Cottage Home Options/Option Care in Galesburg for eight years.
Funeral will be at 1:30 p.m. Tuesday in Hinchliff-Pearson-West Galesburg Chapel, with the Rev. Joe Patterson officiating. Visitation will be from 6:30 to 8 p.m. Monday at the chapel. Cremation will be accorded after service.

John W. Bowers

GALESBURG - John W. Bowers, 89, 1384 N. Henderson St., Galesburg, died at 9:05 a.m. Saturday (Aug. 30, 2003) at home.
He was born July 14, 1914, in Prairie City, the son of Samuel F. and Minnie Van Velsor Bowers.
He married Dorothy Templeman on June 1, 1947, in Peoria.
Surviving are his wife; a son, Donald (and Pam) Bowers, Galesburg; and two sisters, Elaine Craig, Portland, Ore., and Esther Steele, Mt. Vernon, Wash. He was preceded in death by three brothers.
He was a 1933 graduate of Galesburg High School.
A veteran of World War II, he served in the Army as a tech sergeant with the 190th Field Artillery. He participated in the Normandy invasion and received the Bronze Star.
He was an auto body mechanic for 35 years, working for Wright-Allensworth, Jeff Good, Weaver-Yemm and Bob Weaver Buick, all in Galesburg. He retired in 1998.
He was a member of Harmony Baptist Church in Galesburg.
Graveside services will be 11 a.m. Thursday in Prairie City Cemetery with Rev. Robert Eshleman officiating. There will be no visitation. Hinchliff-Pearson-West Galesburg Chapel is in charge of arrangements.
Memorials can be made to Harmony Baptist Church or a charity of the donor's choice.

ABINGDON - James Ralph Bowton, 84, 709 N. Washington St., died at 8:50 a.m. Tuesday (Sept. 23, 2003) in Rosewood Care Center, Galesburg.
He was born May 15, 1919, in Abingdon, the son of Glenn T. and Mabel E. Loquist Bowton.
He married Annetta Barton on Jan. 15, 1940, in Burlington, Iowa.
Surviving are his wife; a daughter, Marjorie (and Marion) Hopkins, Abingdon; two sons, Terry (and Linda) Bowton, Coralville, Iowa, and Daniel (and Janet) Bowton, Mahomet; eight grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, two grandchildren and three sisters.
He lived all his life in Abingdon and graduated from Abingdon High School in 1937.
He was a decorated Army veteran of World War II .
He began working at the Gamble Store in Abingdon his senior year in high school and owned and operated the store from 1967 until retiring in 1982. Beginning in 1984, he was bookkeeper for Severns Plumbing, Heating and Air Conditioning.
He was a member of Abingdon United Methodist Church and Harry E. Wiles American Legion Post 381.
Funeral will be at 11 a.m. Friday in Hinchliff-Pearson-West Abingdon Chapel, with the Rev. Paul D. Dinges officiating. Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home. Burial will be in Abingdon Cemetery, with military rites by American Legion Post 381.

DAHINDA - Thomas James Boyd, 73, 221 Briarwood, Oak Run, formerly of Elmhurst, died at 6:05 a.m. Sunday (Aug. 3, 2003) at home.
He was born March 31, 1930, in Chicago, the son of Cecil and Marie Lukes Boyd.
He married Patricia Nottelmann on Aug. 21, 1957, in Oak Park.
Surviving are his wife; three sons, Thomas Richard Boyd, Riverside, Calif., Steven James Boyd, Elmhurst, and Douglas Paul (and Linda) Boyd, Villa Park; two daughters, Laura Jean (and Thaddeus) Sakwa and Kathleen Ann Boyd, both of Elmhurst; a brother, William "Bill" (and Evelyn) Boyd, Chicago; three sisters, Dorothy Grammont, Alamogardo, N.M., Vera (and Pete) Echavarria, Cicero, and Carole (and James) Pruka, Plainfield; and eight grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, four brothers and two sisters.
He attended school at Maryville Academy in Des Plaines and Blessed Sacrament and St. Phillips in Chicago.
A Marine Corps veteran, he served from 1951 to 1953.
He worked as a driver and salesman for food distribution in Chicago and was a school crossing guard in Elmhurst.
He was a member of St.James Catholic Church in Williamsfield.
Funeral will be at 10 a.m. Friday in Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, Elmhurst. Visitation will be from 3 to 9 p.m. Thursday at Gibbons Funeral Home, Elmhurst. Burial will be in Mary Queen of Heaven Cemetery, Hillside. Hurd-Hendricks Funeral Home, Knoxville, is in charge of local arrangements.
Memorials may be made for mass or to the American Cancer Society.

GALESBURG - Ruth E. Brackett, 89, 2510 170th St., died at 12:30 a.m. Sunday (Aug. 1, 2004) in Galesburg Cottage Hospital.
She was born May 18, 1015, in Galesburg, the daughter of Herman and Ellen Nelson Bloomgren.
She married James Brackett on Nov. 24, 1940, in Burlington, Iowa.
Surviving are three sons, Everett (and Rose) Brackett, Lynwood, Wash., and Robert (and Cathy) Brackett and William Brackett, both of Galesburg; two daughters, Ellen Brackett, Galesburg, and Janet (and Ron) Perry, Rosco; two sisters, Alice Janes, Galesburg, and Mildred Rutledge, Victorville, Calif., seven grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by two brothers and three sisters.
She worked in housekeeping at OSF St. Mary Medical Center for 12 years, retiring in 1981.
She was a member of First Church of the Open Bible, where she was involved with the Prayer Chain.
Funeral will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday in First Church of the Open Bible, with the Rev. Ted Gillum officiating. Visitation will be from 6:30 to 8 p.m. Tuesday in Hinchliff-Pearson-West Galesburg Chapel. Burial will be in Warren County Hope Cemetery, near Alexis.

GALESBURG - Ronald E. Bradford Sr., 68, 121 W. Simmons St., died at 12:30 p.m. Sunday (July 25, 2004) in his home.
He was born Jan. 26, 1936, in Galesburg, the son of Eugene L. and Marjorie Godsil Bradford.
He married Janet E. Peterson in 1958, in Galesburg. He later married Susan Adair in 1969.
Surviving are a son, Ron Bradford Jr., Galesburg; a daughter, Laura Williams, Dahinda; four brothers, Tim (and Carol) Bradford, Starke, Fla., and Terry (and Kathy) Bradford, Pat Bradford and Mike (and Pam Davison) Bradford, all of Galesburg; four sisters, Mary Lou (and Oscar) Tracy and Judy (and Frank) Rogers, both of Galesburg, Joan (and Gene) Bent, Oneida, and Paula (and Ken) Mason, Arvada, Colo.; and six grandchildren.
He graduated from Corpus Christi High School in 1954.
He was employed by Skel Gas for 15 years and was later employed by Bridgeway Halfway House and Roger Brothers Produce.
He was a member of Corpus Christi Catholic Church, the Boots and Saddle Club, 100 Mile Trail Ride and Moose Lodge 880.
Funeral will be at 10 a.m. Thursday in Corpus Christi Catholic Church, with the Rev. Joseph Presley officiating. Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday in Watson Funeral Home, with the rosary to be recited at 8 p.m. Burial will be in St. Joseph Cemetery.

He was born Sept. 15, 1988, in Galesburg, the son of Dennis and Philis Smith Bramlett.
Surviving are his father of Galesburg; his mother of Knoxville; two brothers, Austin "Cody" Bramlett of Kentucky, and Jordan D. Bramlett, New York, N.Y.; a sister, Carly R. Bramlett, Knoxville; and his paternal grandparents, Cecil E. and I. Verna Bramlett, East Galesburg.
He was an eighth-grade student at Knoxville Junior High School.
He was a member of Community Bible Church, Gilson Boy Scouts and the Knoxville Pony League.
