TOPTON, N.C. - Jack Alan Carlock, 47, Topton, N.C., formerly of Macomb, Ill., died July 30, 2004, in the Angel Medical Center, Franklin, N.C., from injuries in an automobile accident.
He was a native of Macomb and the son of Harold Jean and Betty Jo Bozard Carlock.
Surviving are his father of Blandinsville, Ill.; two daughters, Wendy Phillips, Galesburg, Ill., and Marlena Jo Carlock, Ball Ground, Ga.; two brothers, Terry Carlock, Macomb, Ill., and Randy Carlock, Colchester, Ill.; and one granddaughter, Kyanne Phillips, Galesburg, Ill. He was preceded in death by his mother.
He was a heavy equipment mechanic for West Construction.
Services were held Wednesday at Townson Rose Chapel, Andrews, N.C., with the Rev. Jim Postell officiating. Burial was in Briartown Baptist Church Cemetery, Topton, N.C.

Carlson, Loraine E.
April 11, 2004
GALESBURG - Loraine E. Carlson, 89, 577 US 150 E, died at 4:40 a.m. Saturday (April 10, 2004) in Seminary Manor.
She was born Sept. 19, 1914, in Omaha, Neb., the daughter of Carl Victor and Sophie Rengstorf Carlson.
She married Oren L. Carlson on Nov. 5, 1959, in Galesburg. He died Feb. 18, 1973.
Surviving are two stepdaughters, Evelyn (and Robert) Mills, Knoxville, and Jean (and Robert) Hamline, East Galesburg; five stepgrandchildren; and stepgreat-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by two stepdaughters and a brother.
She graduated from Alpha High School.
She was a homemaker.
She was a member of East Main Congregational United Church of Christ and was a former member of the Knox County Farm Bureau.
Funeral will be 1:30 p.m. Tuesday in Hinchliff-Pearson-West Galesburg Chapel, with the Rev. Robin Faull officiating. Visitation will be from 12:30 to 1:30 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home. Burial will be in Woodhull Cemetery.
Memorials may be made to her church.

Carlson, G. Louise
November 13, 2003
GALVA - G. Louise Carlson, 80, formerly of Galva, died at 7:54 a.m. Wednesday (Nov. 12, 2003) in Hawthorne Inn, Galesburg.
She was born April 10, 1923, in Chilhowie, Va., the daughter of Charles C. and Catherine Denny Overbay.
She married Merlyn E. Carlson on Oct. 29, 1941, in Missouri. He died June 14, 1986.
Surviving are a son, Gary Carlson, Amboy; two daughters, Kathleen Smith, Galesburg, and Virginia Carlson, Warrenton, Va.; and three grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, an infant brother and a granddaughter.
She was a homemaker.
She was a member of Messiah Lutheran Church in Galva.
Funeral will be at 2 p.m. Saturday in Rux Funeral Home, with the Rev. Carole Andres officiating. Visitation will be one hour before the service at the funeral home. Burial will be in Galva Cemetery.
Memorials may be made to the Bishop Hill Vasa Lodge.

Carlson, Carl R. Jr.
February 24, 2004
GILSON - Carl R. "Rob" Carlson Jr., 40, 1199 Haw Creek Road, died at 5:50 p.m. Saturday (Feb. 21, 2004), in Gilson.
He was born Oct. 13, 1963, in Galesburg, the son of Carl Robert and Judith A. Shelton Carlson Sr.
He married Diana Lynn Reynolds on Feb. 9, 1985, in Galesburg.
Surviving are his wife; three sons, Alex Carlson, Tim Carlson and David Carlson, all of Gilson; his parents of Madison, Wis.; and one sister, Barbara (and Nick) Carlson, Knoxville. He was preceded in death by a brother.
He was reared and educated in the Knoxville area, graduating from Knoxville High School in 1981.
He worked for Underground Utility Construction for 12 years; owned and operated the Victory Circle Citgo Station from 1997 to 2003; was a conductor for the Burlington Northern Santa Fe Railroad; and also operated the Skate Palace in Galesburg.
He was a member of the Community Bible Church in Knoxville, the UTU Local 195, Conductor's Union of the Burlington Northern Santa Fe Railroad and the Little John Conservation Club.
Funeral will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday at Community Bible Church, Knoxville, with the Rev. Doug Johnson officiating. Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at Hurd-Hendricks Funeral Home, Knoxville. Burial will be in the Knoxville Cemetery.
Memorials may be made to a trust fund for his sons, c/o Community Bank of Galesburg, 1380 N. Henderson St., Galesburg, Ill. 61401.

Carlson, Charlotte L.
August 16, 2003
GALESBURG - Charlotte L. Carlson, 68, 1838 W. Main St., died at 5:05 a.m. Wednesday (Aug. 13, 2003) in Galesburg Cottage Hospital.
She was born March 14, 1935, in Matherville, the daughter of Carl and Dorothy Drury Carlstrom Sr.
She married Floyd R. Carlson on Sept. 12, 1956, in Aledo. He died March 6, 1997.
Surviving are two sons, Jason T. (and Julie McCone) Carlson and Scott D. (and Teresa) Carlson, both of Galesburg; two brothers, Carl Carlstrom Jr., Matherville, and Leonard Carlstrom, San Francisco; a sister, Barb Schneckloth, New Boston; and three grandchildren.
She graduated from Sherrard High School in 1952 and from Moline Public Hospital School of Nursing.
She worked as a registered nurse at Galesburg Cottage Hospital in the Skilled Care Unit as a supervisor for 40 years, retiring in 1997.
She was of Lutheran faith.
Private service will be today in East Linwood Cemetery. Hinchliff-Pearson-West Galesburg Chapel was in charge of arrangements.
Memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society.

Carlson, F. Eugene
September 2, 2003
ALEXIS - F. Eugene Carlson, 84, Alexis, died at 1:50 p.m. Monday (Sept. 1, 2003) in Galesburg Terrace Nursing Home.
He was born June 12, 1919, in North Henderson, the son of Oscar and Esther Stromquist Carlson.
He married Lola "Janie" Jane Babcock on June 12, 1949, in Aledo.
Surviving are his wife; a son, Larry "Gus" (and Corie) Carlson, Littleton, Colo.; a daughter, Sue (and Bill) Barrington, Little York; a son-in-law, Tom Cheline, Rio; a sister, Opal Swanson, North Henderson; eight grandchildren; two stepgrandchildren; four great-grandchildren; and a nephew. He was preceded in death by his parents, a daughter, Nancy M. Cheline, and a sister.
He was reared and educated in North Henderson and Alexis and graduated from Alexis High School in 1937.
He farmed before owning and operating Carlson Construction, specializing in earth moving, for 20 years. He later worked for Hurst Bulldozing in Elmwood for 10 years, retiring in 1985. He was road commissioner for North Henderson Township for several years.
He was a member of Zion Lutheran Church, North Henderson, and was a member of the church board and the choir; and was a member of the North Henderson Lions Club. He was a former member of the Illinois Land Improvement Contractors Association, was elected Contractor of the Year in 1968 and received the Outstanding Service Award in 1991 for his leadership in "Con Expo." He sang in area barbershop quartets for many years and was a member of the S.P.E.B.S.Q.S.A.
Funeral will be at 1:30 p.m. Thursday in Zion Lutheran Church, with the Rev. Kurt Carlsen officiating. Friends may call after 3 p.m. Wednesday at Hoover-Hall Memorial Chapel, Alexis; family will be present from 6:30 to 8 p.m. Burial will be in Mt. Vernon Cemetery, North Henderson.
Memorials may be made to the Western Illinois Kidney Center, Galesburg Unit.

Carnes, Bill
May 6, 2004
STRONGHURST - William R. "Bill" Carnes, 76, Stronghurst, died at 9:30 a.m. Wednesday (May 5, 2004) at home.
He was born July 1, 1927, in Media, the son of James M. and Leona Littrel Carnes.
He married Geneva "Jenny" Long on Oct. 12, 1949, in Stronghurst.
Surviving are his wife; a daughter, Wilma Sue Carnes, Burlington, Iowa; two brothers, Roy (and Peggy) Carnes, Carman, and Donald (and Jane) Carnes, Media; two sisters, Betty (and Bob) Carmean and Isabel Johnson, both of Stronghurst; and nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents and nine brothers and sisters.
He farmed near Stronghurst for many years.
He was a member of Stronghurst Christian Church.
Graveside service will be at 10:30 a.m. Monday in Stronghurst Cemetery, with Armand Harpin officiating. Visitation will be from 7 to 8 p.m. Sunday at Banks & Beals Funeral Home.
Memorials may be made to Stronghurst Ambulance Service.

Sharon M. Carpenter

BUSHNELL - Sharon M. Carpenter, 52, Bushnell, died at 11:02 p.m. Tuesday (Dec. 9, 2003) in Galesburg Cottage Hospital.
She was born May 23, 1951, in Carthage, the daughter of Carl E. and Nancy Miller Hitz.
She married Danny Carpenter on May 2, 1987, in Avon.
Surviving are her husband; her parents of Abingdon; a son, Brian King, Abingdon; three stepsons, Danny Carpenter Jr., David Carpenter and Dennis Carpenter, all of Bushnell; a daughter, Kitty Martin, Springville, Utah; three brothers, Melvin (and Barb) Hitz, Roseville, Gene (and Dee) Hitz, Abingdon, and Allen (and Kathy) Hitz, Roberton; three sisters, Kathy Stanley, Avon, Syrita Reed, Galesburg, and Connie (and Everett) White, Marietta; and three grandchildren.
Graveside service will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday in Bushnell Cemetery, with the Rev. Stephen Storms officiating. Friends may call from 2 to 5 p.m. Monday at Martin-Hollis Funeral Home.
Memorials may be made to any charity.

Carpenter, Joe
December 15, 2003
GALESBURG -Joe Carpenter, 80, 688 West Tompkins St., died at 6:59 p.m. Wednesday (Dec. 10, 2003) in Galesburg Cottage Hospital.
He was born May 9, 1923, in Farmhaven, Miss., the son of Willie Carpenter and Mary Branson.
He married Martha Luckett in 1956 in Farmhaven. She died April 13, 1990.
Surviving are a son, Raymond Macon, Portland, Ore.; four daughters, Margaree (and James) Jones Flint, Mich., Delois Kelley, Galesburg, Marsha F. (and Ira) Robinson, San Leandro, Calif., and Jennifer Shannon, Raleigh, N.C.; a sister, Johnnie Mae Jon, Milwaukee, Wis.; eight grandchildren, six great-grandchildren; nieces and nephews; and his companion, Joyce Smith, Galesburg. He was preceded in death by his parents, three brothers and four sisters.
A veteran of World War II, he served in New Guinea.
He worked at Maytag, Black's Railroad Transit Service, the Brickyard, Knox College and the Bondi Building.
Funeral will be at noon Wednesday in Bethesda Baptist Church, with the Revs. Lugene Finley Sr. and Charlie Brown officiating. Visitation will be from 11 a.m. to noon Wednesday at the church. Burial with military honors will be in East Linwood Cemetery. Fletcher and McDougald Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Carr, Ethel F.
February 25, 2004
GALESBURG - Ethel F. Carr, 100, Galesburg, formerly of Roseville, died Tuesday (Feb. 24, 2004) in Galesburg Cottage Hospital.
She was born Aug. 6, 1903, in Kewanee, the daughter of Woodson J. and Louella Mae Hodges Cunningham.
She married Harold Carr on Jan. 24, 1925, in Roseville. He died Jan. 25, 1972.
Surviving are a daughter, Betty Hoffert, St. Joseph, Mich.; six grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; and four great-great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by a daughter, Ellen "Totsy" Mangieri, and a granddaughter.
She and her husband farmed east of Roseville for 47 years, and she had been a bookkeeper at Roseville State Bank and Roseville Motor company. After her husband's death, she moved to Roseville and operated a tea room and flower shop. She moved to Galesburg in 1980.
She was a member of Roseville Christian Church, a past matron and member of Eastern Star Chapters in Roseville and Monmouth, and a member of P.E.O. Chapter N.
Graveside service will be at 11 a.m. Saturday in Roseville Cemetery, with the Revs. James Oliver and Tim Randall officiating. No visitation is planned. Corman Memorial Home, Roseville, is in charge of arrangements.
Memorials may be made to her church.
