ELMWOOD - Robert L. "Bob" Cox, 82, Elmwood, died at 2:30 p.m. Monday (Jan. 19, 2004) in Blessing Hospital, Quincy.
He was born Oct. 29, 1921, in Pana, the son of Loran and Freada Kassman Cox.
He married Florence Alton on Aug. 18, 1946, in Shelbyville.
Surviving are his wife; a son, Ronald (and Peggy) Cox, Elmwood; three daughters, Barbara (and Michael) Carlile, Sierra Vista, Ariz., Diane Cox, Elmwood, and Debbie (and Bob) Shull, Arrowsmith; five brothers, Leonard Cox, Farmington, Dave Cox and Larry (and Mary Ann) Cox, both of Elmwood, Don Cox, Douglas, and Ed Cox, Waterville, Minn.; nine grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, four brothers and three sisters.
An Army veteran of World War II, he served in Europe.
He worked as a golf course superintendent in Elmwood and Saybrook and at Pekin Country Club, retiring in 1988.
He was a member of First Presbyterian Church in Elmwood, Moose Lodge 916 in Pekin, and VFW Post 4724 and American Legion Post 638 in Elmwood.
Funeral will be at 11 a.m. Friday in Patterson Funeral Home, with the Rev. Randy Schreurs officiating. Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home. Burial will be in Elmwood Cemetery.
Memorials may be made to his church, B.Y.E. Ambulance or VFW Post 4724.

GALESBURG - Madeline Cozad, 90, Galesburg, died at 8:13 a.m. today (Jan. 22, 2004) at home.

Coziahr, Nancy A.

KNOXVILLE - Nancy Ann Coziahr, 44, 612 Sheridan St., died at 12:50 a.m. Thursday (Aug. 5, 2004) in her home.
She was born March 2, 1960, in Galesburg, the daughter of Paul J. and Freida Bartholomew Scherer.
She married Brion Coziahr on Jan. 25, 2002, in Bloomington.
Surviving are her husband; two sons, Clayton Locke and Brad Locke, both of Galesburg; one daughter, Jennifer (and Amos) Sward, Watertown, N.Y.; one stepson, Matthew Coziahr, Galesburg; one stepdaughter, Megan Coziahr, Galesburg; seven brothers, Joe Scherer, Bill Scherer, Bob Scherer, Tom Scherer, Dick Scherer and Ted Scherer, all of Omaha, Neb., and Jim Scherer of N.C.; one sister, Mary Ellen Scherer, San Francisco; and four grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents.
She graduated from Knoxville High School in 1978.
She worked for Gates Rubber Co. for 15 years and Caterpillar Inc. for more than one year.
Graveside services will be at 10 a.m. Saturday in Knoxville Cemetery, with Deacon Robert Myers officiating. There will be no visitation. Hinchliff-Pearson-West Galesburg Chapel in charge of arrangements.

Craine, Michael A.

GALVA - Michael A. Craine, 37, 408 S.E. 7th Ave., formerly of Milan, died at 6:30 a.m. Thursday (Sept. 25, 2003) at home.
He was born Sept. 2, 1966, in Kewanee, the son of James "Keith" and Linda Dillon Craine.
Surviving are one son, Michael A. "Mickey" Craine Jr., Knoxville; his mother, Linda Ward, Galva; one sister, Michelle Winegardner, Milan; one niece and two nephews. He was preceded in death by his father.
He had been in various bands in the area and played various instruments.
He was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Milan, and the Eureka Masonic Lodge 69 in Milan.
Funeral will be at 3 p.m. Saturday in Rux Funeral Home, with the Rev. Leo Smith officiating. Visitation will be from 1 p.m. until the time of service Saturday at the funeral home. Burial will be in the Galva Cemetery.
Memorials may be made to the family for a memorial to be established.
Creasey, Karen S.

COLCHESTER - Karen Sue Creasey, 65, Colchester, died at 10:10 a.m. Sunday (Sept. 28, 2003) at home.
She was born Feb. 17, 1938, in Macomb, the daughter of Oral G. and Velma Jackson Kugler.
She married William Thomas Creasey on Jan. 30, 1955, in Macomb.
Surviving are her husband; a son, Thomas William Creasey, Colchester; two daughters, Jean Marie Creasey, Colchester, and Tamra Sue King, Gridley; a brother, Larry Kugler, Bushnell; five grandchildren and a great-grandchild. She was preceded in death by her parents and a brother.
She operated Creasey Shell and owned Potpourri Fabric Shop in Colchester. She also had worked at McDonough District Hospital, Colchester Shell, GTE Telephone in Macomb, the Colchester City Clerk's Office and Jennings Sale Barn in Macomb
She was a member of the AMA.
Funeral will be at 1 p.m. Tuesday in Jones Mortuary, with the Rev. Andrew Lucas officiating. Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. Monday at the funeral home. Burial will be in Oakwood Cemetery, Macomb.
Memorials may be made to McDonough District Hospital Hospice.

Crist, Ruth M.

LOMAX - Ruth M. Crist, 83, Lomax, died at 6:04 a.m. Friday (Sept. 19, 2003) in the Heartland Health Care Center in Macomb.
She was born Aug. 30, 1920, in Fulton County, the daughter of Robbie and Sadie Kimes Mason.
She married William Crist on Dec. 21, 1954.
Surviving are two sisters, Mabel Sullivan, Macomb and LaVina Hopping, Abingdon; and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband, one sister, and two brothers.
Funeral will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday in the Banks & Beals Funeral Home in Stronghurst with the Rev. Larry Abbott officiating. Visitation will be from 12 p.m. to the time of service at the funeral home. Graveside service will be at 2 p.m. Friday at the Wallace Memorial Cemetery in Clintonville, West Virginia.

Crow, Ernest L. Jr.

MONMOUTH - Ernest L. Crow Jr., 85, 327 N. Ninth St., died at 2 a.m. Friday (Dec. 26, 2003) in Community Medical Center.
He was born Dec. 15, 1918, in Monmouth, the son of Ernest L. and Caroline Rader Crow.
He married Mary Bartling on July 30, 1949, in Rockford. She died Oct. 23, 1988.
Surviving are a brother, Howard (and Betty) Crow, Peoria Heights; a sister, Eleanor Gustafson, Monmouth; a sister-in-law, Grace Crow, Monmouth; five nieces; three nephews; and two cousins. He was preceded in death by a brother and a niece.
He was reared in Monmouth and attended Monmouth public schools, Monmouth College in 1941 and the University of Wisconsin-Madison in 1941-1942.
He worked for five years, coaching and teaching English and Spanish in Stoughton, Wis. He retired in 1988 as an official court reporter of the 9th Judicial Court, Warren County, State of Illinois, working for Judge William Bardens, Judge Keith Scott and others. From 1989 to 1999 he volunteered in the College Relations office. In 1993, he was made an honorary member of the Monmouth College Crimson Clan Volunteer Association, of which he was the first male member. From 1991 to 1994 he served as secretary of the Monmouth College Class of 1941. In 1995, he received the Monmouth College Distinguished Service Award. In 1995 and 1997 he represented the Monmouth College Class of 1941 at inaugurations of presidents Sue Huseman and Richard Giese. He also received the Ageless Achiever Award from the Western Illinois Area Agency on Aging.
Memorial service will be at 2 p.m. Jan. 10 at Turnbull Funeral Home, Monmouth, with Stafford Weeks officiating. Cremation was accorded. No visitation is planned.

KNOXVILLE - Leonard J. Crow, 80, 899 Fox Road, died at 1:45 a.m. Thursday (April 22, 2004), in Methodist Medical Center, Peoria.
He was born April 16, 1924, in Seaton, the son of Leonard G. and Nellie Clevenger Crow.
He married Imogene Lufkin on July 25, 1949, in Galesburg.
Surviving are his wife; a daughter, Jeannie (and Steve) Westbay, Knoxville; two sons, Philip (and Jalayne) Crow, East Galesburg, and Marty (and Nancy) Crow, Galesburg; four grandchildren; and two great-granddaughters. He was preceded in death by his parents, a sister and three brothers.
He was reared and educated in Rio.
He served in the U.S. Navy from 1944 to 1946, where he received the following ribbons: America Area, Asiatic Pacific Area, European African Middle Eastern Area and World War II Victory.
He worked at Rowe Manufacturing and then Butler Manufacturing for 15 years, retiring in 1989.
He was a membr of the Harry Philblad American Legion Post 749 in Knoxville and the United Steel Workers of America Local 2629 in Galesburg.
Graveside services will be at 1 p.m. Saturday in the Knoxville Cemetery, with military honors conducted by Harry Philblad American Legion Post 749 of Knoxville. No visitation is planned. Hurd-Hendricks Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Cruce, Ada M.

CAMERON - Ada Marie Cruce, 82, Cameron, died at 4:15 a.m. Thursday of natural causes (June 3, 2004), in Seminary Manor, Galesburg.
She was born Sept. 13, 1921, in Galesburg, the daughter of Forrest and Ruby Holmes.
She married Willliam R. Cruce on Feb. 14, 1948. He died June 20, 1976.
Surviving are a daughter, Diane (and Charles) Fedorow, St. Charles; a son, Douglas R. (and Kathlene) Cruce, Galesburg; and five grandchildren.
She was a graduate of Oneida High School, and active in the alumni group.
She worked several years for the Oneida Farmer's Co-op. She and her husband lived on farms in the Victoria, Galesburg and Cameron areas.
She was a member of Immanuel Lutheran Church in Altona, Literary Thursday Club and 10-year member of the International Wheat Weavers Association.
Funeral will be at 10:30 a.m. Saturday at Immanuel Lutheran Church, Altona, with the Revs. Tim Anderson and Paul Lydic officiating. Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. Friday in Hurd-Hendricks Funeral Home, Oneida. Burial will be in Oneida Cemetery.
