VERNON, Ariz. - Margaret "Maggie" E. Curry, 91, Vernon, died Sept. 5, 2003, in Bannion Springs, Vernon.
She was born May 3, 1912, in Altar, Belgium, the daughter of Julius and Sylvia Cokel.
She married Donald Curry on April 5, 1931. He died Aug. 23, 1973.
Surviving are a son, Earl Curry, Grand Rapids, Mich.; two daughters, Janet (and Gerald) Clark, Lakeside, Ariz., and Ruthie (and Henry) Gullickson, Coburg, Ore.; a brother, Victor Cokel, Monmouth; a sister, Ruth Hawk, Monmouth; 13 grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren and four great-great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by a daughter, Betty, and a grandson.
She had worked as a cook and supervisor in the cafeteria at Corpus Christi High School in Galesburg.
Funeral will be at 10 a.m. Sept. 26 in Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, Monmouth, with the Rev. Ronald Enderlin and deacon William Clark officiating. Burial will be in St. Joseph's Cemetery, Galesburg. Fletchers Mortuary, Show Low, Ariz., is in charge of arrangements.
Memorials may be made to a local hospice or any charity.

BUSHNELL - Thelma N. Curtis, 94, Bushnell, died at 4:30 a.m. Tuesday (Nov. 4, 2003) in Avon Nursing Home.
She was born Dec. 17, 1908, in Matherville, the daughter of William and Jennie Sackfield Tuttle.
She married Claire B. Curtis on Dec. 26, 1931, in Galesburg. He died Jan. 1967.
Surviving are two daughters, Margot Sheckler and Judy K. Sorrells, both of Bushnell; 14 grandchildren; 31 great-grandchildren; three stepgreat-grandchildren and seven great-great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, a son, a grandchild, a great-grandchild, two sisters, a stepsister, a brother and a stepbrother.
She taught school at Scottsburg Rural School and Maquon Rural School.
She was a member of Bushnell Presbyterian Church.
Funeral will be at 11 a.m. Friday in Bushnell Presbyterian Church, with the Rev. Gordon Jones officiating. No visitation is planned. Burial will be in Bushnell Cemetery. Martin-Hollis Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
Memorials may be made to her church or the Bushnell Public Library.

GALESBURG - Ashley Nicole Dallas, 20, Galesburg, died at 6:48 p.m. Monday (Jan. 5, 2004) in Memorial Hospital, Carbondale.
She was born June 8, 1983, in Marion, the daughter of Benny and Lisa Smith Dallas.
Surviving are her mother and stepfather, Lisa and John Woolsey, Galesburg; her father and stepmother, Benny and Brenda Dallas, Washington; five sisters, Liza Woolsey, Knoxville, Kristen Dallas and Jenna Dallas, both of Galesburg, Mallory Julien and Corey Julien, both of Washington; her grandparents, Alma Rose Smith, Toulon, Betty Holmes, Marion, and Dale and Pat Fritz and Phyllis and Jerry Aschenbrenner, all of Washington; three aunts, an uncle and cousins. She was preceded in death by two grandfathers.
She graduated from Galesburg High School in 2001 and was an honor student and named to Who's Who of American High School Students.
She was a junior at Southern Illinois University in Carbondale, where she was majoring in equine science and was named to the dean's list.
She was of Protestant faith.
Funeral will be at 4:30 p.m. Friday in Hinchliff-Pearson-West Galesburg Chapel, followed by visitation from 5 to 8:30 p.m. Cremation will follow the visitation.
Memorials may be made to the equine science program at Southern Illinois University-Carbondale.

RIVER FALLS, Wis. - William Damitz Jr., 25, Bay City, formerly of Williamsfield, Ill., died at 6:40 a.m. Saturday (Jan. 3, 2004) in a vehicle-truck collision in Pierce County, Wis.

WILLIAMSFIELD - William C. "Billy" Damitz Jr., 26, Bay City, Wis., formerly of Williamsfield, died at 6:40 a.m. Saturday (Jan. 3, 2004) in a traffic accident in Pierce County, Wis.
He was born Sept. 25, 1977, in Galesburg, the son of William and Sue Bell Damitz Sr.
Surviving are his mother and stepfather, Richard LaFollette of Williamsfield; a brother, Chad Bell, Macomb; a half-sister, Michelle Damitz, Chicago; his grandparents, Ed and Mary Bell of Williamsfield, Shirley Johnson of Texas, and Don and Maxine Damitz of Galesburg. He was preceded in death by his father who died in 1977.
He was a 1996 graduate of Williamsfield High School.
He worked at Farmland Foods in Monmouth from 1997 to 2003 when he moved to Wisconsin where he worked for Spectro Alloy in Rosemont, Minn.
Funeral will be at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at the Williamsfield United Methodist Church, with the Rev. Randy Douglass officiating. Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at Rux Funeral Home. Burial will be in the Williamsfield Cemetery.
Memorials may be made to his family for a memorial to be established.

EDGEWOOD - Lulu Deloris Davis, 74, Galesburg, formerly of Edgewood, died at 9:15 a.m. Friday (Jan. 23, 2004), in OSF St. Mary Medical Center, Galesburg.
Funeral will be at 2 p.m. Sunday at Pagel Funeral Home, Edgewood. Visitation will be from noon to 2 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home. Burial will be in the Edgewood Cemetery.

MEDIA - Frank Kenneth Davis, 86, Media, died at 5 a.m. Tuesday (Oct. 14, 2003) in Great River Medical Center, West Burlington, Iowa.
He was born Nov. 30, 1916, near Stronghurst, the son of Virgil and Myrtle Lant Davis.
He married Peggy Cramer in 1945 in Bronx, N.Y. He married Lois Ann Brouse on Nov. 30, 1951, in Las Vegas, Nev.
Surviving are his wife; two daughters, Amy (and William) Fairfield, Manchester, and Mary Ann (and John) Whiteman, Lodge Grass, Mont.; three sons, Raymond Davis, Gerald Davis and Richard Davis, all of New York; two sisters, Bessie Stenzel, Bellflower, Calif., and Vernadine Stevenson, Gladstone; six grandchildren; three stepgrandchildren; four great-grandchildren; four stepgreat-grandchildren; and nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by five brothers and two sisters.
He attended Olena, Burrell and Stronghurst schools.
He joined the Civilian Conservation Corps in his teens and was a Navy veteran of World War II, serving as a signalman and gunners mate. He survived his ship being sank at Pearl Harbor and also served in the South Pacific and North Atlantic.
He worked as a carpenter and ironworker.
He was a member of the Henderson County VFW, the Stronghurst American Legion and Community United Presbyterian Church in Media.
Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Friday in Banks & Beals Funeral Home, Stronghurst, with the Rev. Sandor Paull officiating and military rites by the Stronghurst American Legion. Visitation will be from 7 to 9 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home. Burial will be later in Walnut Grove Cemetery near Media.
Memorials may be made to his church.

GALESBURG - Virginia T. Davis, 84, 480 Scotch Elm Lane, died at 8:14 a.m. Friday (Nov. 14, 2003) in OSF St. Mary Medical Center.
She was born Jan. 27, 1919, in Avon, the daughter of Robert and Margaret Burrage Trumpy. She married Edwin N. Davis on Jan. 1, 1938, in Avon. He died April 16, 1999.
Surviving are two daughters, Melinda (and William) Ruttledge, St. Louis, Mo., and Cynthia (and David) Leary, Fort Collins, Colo.; one son-in-law, Robert Lafferty, Oquawka; three grandchildren; and one great-grandchild. She was preceded in death by her parents and one daughter, Susan Lafferty.
She was a homemaker. She lived in Avon and Galesburg areas most of her life. She graduated from Avon High School in 1937. She attended Knox College.
She was a board member for the former Louise T. Harrington Home in Galesburg. She was a member of the Women's Board for St. Mary's Hospital. She played in numerous bridge clubs.
A private family graveside service is planned. There will be no visitation.
Hinchliff-Pearson-West Galesburg Chapel is in charge of arrangements.

GALESBURG - Tawanana M. Davis, 35, 300 E. Davis St., died Saturday (Aug. 16, 2003) in Galesburg Cottage Hospital.
She was born May 29, 1968, in Pensacola, Fla., the daughter of Noble and Milean Mixon Davis.
Surviving are a daughter, Catashia (Tossie) Davis, at home; her parents of Galesubrg; a brother, Roderick Davis, Galesburg; two sisters, Rosalyn Bryant and Donna Neal, both of Galesburg; and her grandmother, Clara Hawthorne, Galesburg. She was preceded in death by her grandfather, James Davis Hawthorne.
She graduated from Galesburg High School in 1986 and attended Carl Sandburg College.
She was a member of Mt. Zion Missionary Baptist Church, where she was president of the youth department, a member of the choir and a Sunday school teacher.
Funeral will be at 11 a.m. Friday in Mt. Zion Missionary Baptist Church, where the family will receive friends from 7 to 9 p.m. Thursday. Burial will be in East Linwood Cemetery. Fletcher and McDougald Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

KNOXVILLE - Hubert E. Dawson, 94, 186 Willow Lane, died at 9 p.m. Wednesday (Oct. 8, 2003) at his son's residence in Knoxville.
He was born Feb. 27, 1909, in Appleton, the son of Charles W. and Addie Agnes Rigg Dawson
He married Ethel M. Pennington on June 15, 1931, in Knox County. She died April 29, 1988. He later married Bessie Clark on Dec. 16, 1989, in Galesburg. She died June 3, 2002.
Surviving are three daughters, Marie A. (and Richard) Larson, Anderson, Ind., Deloris A. "Dee" (and Herman) Hillery, Knoxville, and Maxine I. (and Rayford) Darst, Galesburg; one son, William E. (and Karon) Dawson, Knoxville; 19 grandchildren; 43 great-grandchildren; and 11 great-great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents; one grandson; five brothers; and three sisters.
He was reared and educated in the Knox County area.
He was a carpenter, cabinet maker and finisher; and had lived in the Knox County area all his life.
He was a member of the First Church of God in Galesburg, where he helped build the current church building.
Funeral will be at 10 a.m. Saturday at the First Church of God, Galesburg, with the Rev. Paul Bickel officiating. Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. Friday at Hurd-Hendricks Funeral Home. Burial will be in Oak Lawn Memorial Gardens, Galesburg.
