HOOVER, Ala. - Richard Day, 74, Hoover, Ala., formerly of Galesburg, died at 4:51 p.m. Saturday (Jan. 31, 2004), at the Bookwood Hospital, Hoover.

Disbennett, Leroy N. Sr.

FAIRHOPE, Ala. - Leroy "Roy" Norman Disbennett Sr., 82, Fairhope, Ala., died Wednesday (June 18, 2003) at Thomas Hospital in Fairhope.
He married Dorothy Jane Hubbard, who preceded him in death in 1968. He later married Phyllis Jerome.
Surviving are his wife, Phyllis J. Disbennett, Fairhope, Ala.; one daughter, Sue (and Garry) Seehawer, Rockford; three sons, Skip (and Sandra) Disbennett, Lawrenceville, Ga., Pete (and Kathy) Disbennett, Knoxville, and Rob (and Katrina) Disbennett, Silverdale, Wash.; nine grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
He was a veteran of the U.S. Navy, serving in World War II.
He was a resident of Galesburg for 30 years, retiring from Gale Products, where he was machine repair supervisor.
He and his wife, Phyllis, resided in Honduras for 14 years before relocating to Fairhope in 2001.
He was a Scout Master and Boy Scout.
A memorial service is pending in Galesburg.

EAST PEORIA - Rosemary Elizabeth Dodson, 73, East Peoria, died at 6 a.m. Wednesday (Feb. 18, 2004) at home.
She was born July 2, 1930, in Peoria, the daughter of Frank Joseph and Clara Matilda Hurst Rahn.
She married Merle Franklin Dodson on Aug. 18, 1951, in Peoria.
Surviving are her husband; eight daughters, Becky A. Chirello, Tremont, Linda M. (and Gregg) Carr, Hennepin, Diane E. (and Dave) Oedewaldt, Bartonville, Rosanne M. (and Jeff) Nau, Washington, Cathy F. Dodson of California, Mary L. (and Ken) Allgood, Altona, Christine L. (and Jim) Barnes, Lexington Park, Md., and Brenda L. (and Jeff) Ciembronowicz, O'Fallon, Mo.; two sons, James M. (and Denise) Dodson, East Peoria, and Gregory J. (and Mary Lynn) Dodson, Washington; a sister, Donna J. (and Larry) Tadie, Chillicothe; and 13 grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents and a grandson.
She was a homemaker.
She was a member of Sacre Coeur Catholic Church in Creve Coeur and its Altar and Rosary Society.
Funeral will be at 10 a.m. Saturday in Sacre Coeur Catholic Church, with the Rev. Joseph W. Anderson officiating. Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. Friday at Preston-Hanley Funeral Home, Creve Coeur, with the rosary prayed at 7:30 p.m. Visitation also will be from 9 to 9:45 a.m. Saturday at the church. Burial will be in St. Mary's Catholic Cemetery, West Peoria.
Memorials may be made to her church or the American Cancer Society.
Downey, Betty J.

ALEDO - Betty J. Downey, 81, Aledo, died Sunday (Dec. 21 2003) in Aledo Health and Rehab.
She was born Oct. 27, 1922, in Davenport, Iowa, the daughter of Edward and Bessie Porter Knox.
She married Everett Downey on Dec. 7, 1938, in Mercer County. He died in 1987.
Surviving are three daughters, Marge Crow and Helen Dale, both of Aledo, and Ann (and Jim) Hays, Viola; four sons, Thomas Downey and Robert (and Sherry) Downey, both of Aledo, Terry Downey, Galesburg, and Davis (and Kathy) Downey; 19 grandchildren and 32 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, a sister and a brother.
She attended local schools.
She was a homemaker.
Graveside service will be at 2:30 p.m. Tuesday in Aledo Cemetery. No visitation is planned. Fippinger Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Downing, Cleone G.

GENESEO - Cleone G. Downing, 92, a resident of Hillcrest Home near Geneseo, died there Monday (Feb. 9, 2004).
She was born July 7, 1910, in South Moline Township, the daughter of Stanwood and Carrie Miller Loding.
She married Ernest Downing on Jan. 2, 1937, in Rock Island. He died in 1987.
Surviving are a daughter, Odetta (and Bill) Leff, Bishop Hill; a son, Dennis (and Jean) Downing, Cambridge; and a grandson, Zane Downing.
She farmed with her husband near Cambridge for many years before moving to Mesa, Ariz.
She was a member of Jehovah's Witnesses in Mesa.
Cremation was accorded. No visitation or services are planned. Vandemore Funeral Home, Geneseo, was in charge of arrangements.
Dubois, Louise J.

KNOXVILLE - Louise J. Dubois, 98, a resident of the Knox County Nursing Home, died at 1:12 p.m. Wednesday (Oct. 22, 2003) in OSF St. Mary Medical Center, Galesburg.
She was born Nov. 18, 1904, in France, the daughter of Phillip and Felicia Dubois.
Surviving are two nieces, Eileen (and Gerald) Davis, Morton, and Shirley Johnson, East Galesburg. She was preceded in death by her parents, three sisters and a brother.
She worked at the former Meadow Gold Dairy in Galesburg and for 15 years as a technician at the former State Research Hospital in Galesburg, retiring in 1975.
Graveside service will be at 1 p.m. Saturday in Knoxville Cemetery, with the Rev. Michel D. Clark officiating. No visitation is planned. Hurd-Hendricks Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
Memorials may be made to the Knox County Nursing Home.

Dulaney, James E.

PEKIN - James Edwin Dulaney, 78, 1702 Holiday Drive, died at 3:52 a.m. Sunday (Oct. 5, 2003) at Pekin Manor.
He was born July 31, 1925, in Galesburg, the son of Sidney Clay and Verna Louise Allen Dulaney.
He married Dorothe M. VanVelsor on July 31, 1952, in Palmyra, Mo. She died Oct. 28, 1990.
Surviving are one son, Stephen J. Dulaney, Moline; one daughter, Anita L. (and George) Kampas, Pekin; two brothers, Lester K. (and Charlene) Dulaney, Mesquite, Nev., and Merle G. "Gene" (and Nancy) Dulaney, Dayton, Texas; and four grandchildren.
He was a Navy World War II veteran serving in the Pacific Theater.
He retired in 1987 from Sherex in Mapleton after 26 years of service, where he first worked in production, then in maintenance and last as an operator at the tank farm. He was a member of the Oil, Chemical and Atomic Workers Union in Pekin.
He was a member of the First Baptist Church in Galesburg, and attended First United Methodist Church in Pekin.
Graveside services will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday at Oak Lawn Memorial Gardens, with the Rev. Judy Doyle officiating. Military rites will be accorded by the Ralph M. Noble American Legion Post 285 Color Guard of Galesburg. Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at Preston-Hanley Funeral Home, Pekin Chapel.

Dunn, William

GALESBURG - William "Ray" Dunn, 91, 840 S. Farnham St., died at 8:17 p.m. Thursday (Jan. 22, 2004) in Rosewood Care Center.
He was born Oct. 31, 1912, in Farmington, the son of Shellby and Emma Glasock Dunn.
He married Helen Young on Aug. 7, 1955, in Coldbrook.
Surviving are his wife; three sons, Clifford (and Mary) Dunn, Steve (and Jean) Dunn, and Rex Dunn, all of Oquawka; a sister-in-law, Louise Dunn, Galesburg; six grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents and a brother.
He graduated from Farmington High School in 1938 and received bachelor's and master's degrees from the University of Illinois.
He taught in Astoria, Biggsville and Galesburg for 40 years, retiring in 1975. He was the first administrator of the Galesburg area vocational school.
He was a member of Coldbrook Christian Church and A. Lincoln Lodge in Kirkwood, a former member of the Kiwanis Club in Galesburg, and was past state president of Illinois vocational agriculture teachers.
Funeral will be at 11 a.m. Monday in Hinchliff-Pearson-West Galesburg Chapel, with the Rev. Becky Ingram officiating. Visitation will be from 3 to 5 p.m. Sunday at the funeral. Burial will be in Mosher Cemetery, Warren County.
Memorials may be made to Community Hospice's of America or his church.
Dunn, Dale H.

LaHARPE - Dale H. Dunn, 82, LaHarpe, died at 1:35 a.m. Monday (May 31, 2004), in the LaHarpe Davier Health Care Center.
He was born Dec. 23, 1921, in LaCrosse, the son of James Clinton and Helen Johnson Dunn.
He married LaVerne Fife on March 31, 1943, in Kahoka, Mo. She died Nov. 24, 1999.
Surviving are two daughters, Deborah (and Ron) Eccles, Burlington, Iowa, and Dorinda (and Jerry) Winget, Bushnell; two sisters, Betty White, Quincy, and Lil Anders, LaHarpe; a brother, Donald Dunn, Galesburg; and three grandchildren.
He was a lifelong resident of LaHarpe.
He served as a Gunner's Mate in the U.S. Navy during World War II.
He was a retired carpenter, and had served as LaHarpe mayor.
He was a member of LaHarpe Christian Church where he served as deacon and Sunday school teacher.
Funeral was Thursday at Banks & Beals Funeral Home, with Robin Thompson officiating. Burial, with military rites, was in LaHarpe Cemetery.
