GALESBURG - Phillip Edward Duvall Sr., 75, 520 Irwin St., died at 1:50 p.m. Thursday (Oct. 2, 2003) at home.
He was born Aug. 6, 1928, in Galesburg, the son of Percy Raymond and Elma Grace Rickards Duvall.
He married Dorothy Marie Allen on Nov. 21, 1948, in Galesburg.
Surviving are his wife; a son, Phillip E. (and Joyce) Duvall Jr., Sheridan, Wyo.; three daughters, Linda (and Don) Thomas, Connie (and Bill) Kemper, and Sally (and Kory) Duke, all of Galesburg; a brother, Raymond Duvall, Galesburg; a sister, Shirley Motz, Galesburg; eight grandchildren; three stepgrandchildren; a great-grandchild, and four stepgreat-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by two brothers and two sisters.
He graduated from Galesburg High School in 1947.
He was an Air Force veteran.
He worked as an engineer at the former CB&Q Railroad, now Burlington Northern Santa Fe Railway, for 39 years retiring in 1989.
He was a member of Covenant Church and was a former trustee and participated in the church bowling league.
Funeral will be at 10 a.m. Monday in Hinchliff-Pearson-West Galesburg Chapel, with the Rev. Tom Ek officiating. Visitation will be from 2 to 4 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home. Burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery.
Memorials may be made to his church, Community Hospices of America or any charity.

KEWANEE - Constance M. "Connie" Duytschaver, 86, Kewanee, died at 1:45 p.m. Monday (Jan. 12, 2004) in Kewanee Hospital.
She was born Feb. 17, 1917, in Kewanee, the daughter of Franklin and Carolyn Thurston Snider.
She married John J. Duytschaver on Aug. 9, 1941, in Reno, Nev. He died Dec. 20, 1984.
Surviving are two sons, Mike (and Carly) Duytschaver, West Liberty, Iowa, and Pat (and Rebecca) Duytschaver, Galva; and two grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, two brothers and an infant sister.
She graduated from Kewanee High School and from the National College of Education in Evanston.
She taught elementary school teacher and was a physical therapist at St. Francis Hospital in Kewanee and Mercy Hospital in Davenport, Iowa.
She was a member of St. Mary Catholic Church and its Altar and Rosary Society, and a member of Burns Grange, Kewanee Hospital Auxiliary, Henry County Humane Society, Kewanee Historical Society and the Round Barn Preservation Association. She volunteered at the Kewanee Senior Citizen Center.
Graveside service will be at 10 a.m. Thursday in Mt. Olivet Cemetery, Kewanee. Visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m. Wednesday at Rux Funeral Home, Kewanee.
Memorials may be made to the Henry County Humane Society.

GALESBURG - Marsha D. Dykeman, 58, formerly of Galesburg, died at 2:30 a.m. Saturday (Jan. 31, 2004) in Apostolic Christian Restmor Nursing Home, Morton.
She was born March 19, 1945, in Galesburg, the daughter of Harry S. and Ione E. Nicholas Anderson.
Surviving is a son, Jason Dykeman, Rockford. She was preceded in death by her parents and a sister.
She graduated from Galesburg High School in 1963.
She was a homemaker.
She was a member of Bethany Baptist Church.
Private graveside service will be Thursday in Oak Lawn Memorial Gardens, with the Rev. John Carlson officiating. No visitation is planned. Hinchliff-Pearson-West Galesburg Chapel in charge of arrangements.

GALESBURG - Major Arthur Gene "Artie" Ecklund, 35, Galesburg, P.O.W. of Vietnam War, remains found and discovered Aug. 7, 2003, at the Identification Laboratory in Hawaii.

ONEIDA - Genevieve Mary Edwards, 83, 204 E. Prospect, died at 4:05 p.m. Monday (July 26, 2004) in Marigold Health Care Center, Galesburg, of natural causes.
She was born Sept. 14, 1920, in Woodhull, the daughter of Daniel J. and Gertrude Martha Falloon May.
She married Lester John Edwards on May 3, 1944, in Galesburg. He died May 28, 1976.
Surviving are one sister, Virginia Zurlo, Akron, N.Y.; and nieces and nephews, including, Mary (and Oliver "Bud") Cruce, Altona, and Patty (and Marion) Hay, Maryann (and Richard) Maynard and Barbara (and John) Waugh, all of Aledo. She was preceded in death by her parents, two brothers and one sister.
She was a graduate of Woodhull High School.
She was a homemaker and farmed with her husband in rural Altona. She worked in several places in Woodhull, including for Nona Palm, the Grocery Store, cared for several families, waitress in two restaurants and clerked at the Cully Holmes Grocery Store.
She lived at Hurd-Hendricks Funeral Home in Oneida for 28 years, working as a receptionist.
She was a member of the St. John's Catholic Church of Woodhull, and its Altar and Rosary Society.
Funeral will be at 10 a.m. Friday at St. John's Catholic Church, Woodhull, with the Rev. Eugene Radosevich officiating. Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday at Hurd-Hendricks Funeral Home in Oneida, and from 9 a.m. until the time of service Friday at the church. Rosary will be recited at 6 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home. Burial will be in the Woodhull Cemetery.
Memorials may be made to a memorial fund for ROWVA and AlWood Schools.

ABINGDON - Chad R. Ehrenhart, 22, 606 W. Pearl St., died at 7:30 a.m. Sunday (June 15, 2003) at his home.
He was born Dec. 14, 1980, in Galesburg, the son of Rick and Deb Myers Ehrenhart.
Surviving are his parents of rural Abingdon; aunts, uncles and cousins. He was preceded in death by his grandparents.
He had lived in the Abingdon area all his life. He graduated from Abingdon High School in 1999, where he was on the Honor Roll and participated in sports.
He worked for Ag-Industrial Millwright Services in Galesburg.
Funeral will be at 1:30 p.m. Wednesday at the Hinchliff-Pearson-West Abingdon Chapel, with Eleanor Landon officiating. Friends may call from 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at the chapel. Burial will be in the Abingdon Cemetery.
Memorials may be made to the family.

LA CROSSE, Wis. - Keith D. Ekiss, 45, La Crosse, died Monday (Sept. 1, 2003) at Franciscan Skemp Medical Center.
He was born Nov. 9, 1957, in Galesburg.
He married Karen Brown on May 21, 1988, in La Crosse.
Surviving are his wife; two sons, Matt and Mark, both at home; his parents, Bob and Beverly Mitchell, Galesburg; two sisters, Elaine (and Mike) Sturgeon and Stephanie (and Mike) Johnson, both of Galesburg; and nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his grandparents, Dean and Norma Du Rall, and a brother.
He graduated from Galesburg High School in 1975 and attended Carl Sandburg College.
He was an Army veteran.
He worked as a conductor for Burlington Northern Santa Fe Railway for 27 years.
Funeral will be at 11 a.m. Friday in Schumacher-Kish Funeral Home, with the Rev. Lawrence B. Berger officiating. Friends may call from 5 to 8 p.m. Thursday and from 9:30 a.m. until the service Friday at the funeral home. Burial will be in Woodlawn Cemetery.

MAQUON - Chris J. Emken, 92, rural Maquon, died at 12:21 p.m. Thursday (Feb. 5, 2004), in OSF St. Mary Medical Center, Galesburg.
He was born Feb. 10, 1911, in Washington, the son of Eibe and Eva Marie Storck Emken.
He married Rosalie Slagle on Sept. 13, 1941, in Kahoka, Mo. She died Aug. 27, 2003.
Surviving are three sons, Kenneth (and Betty) Emken and Russell (and Teresa) Emken, both of Maquon, and Raymond (and Ann) Emken, Flat Rock; three daughters, Joyce (and Bud) Linroth, Dahinda, Linda (and Sam) Baracman, Boonton, N.J., and Barbara (and Tom) Washburn, Hamilton; 15 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, one daughter, Joanne Widger, one grandchild, two brothers and two sisters.
He was a lifetime farmer.
He attended Douglas United Methodist Church, and was a member of the United Methodist Men's Group at his church.
He was a member of the Knox County Farm Bureau and the National Studebaker Driver's Club in South Bend, Ind.; and was a board member of the Pease Hill School in Salem Township, Knox County.
Funeral will be at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at Anderson-Sedgwick Funeral Home, Farmington, with the Rev. Dan Doty officiating. Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. Monday at the funeral home. Burial will be in the Yates City Cemetery.

MAQUON - L. Rosalie Emken, 84, formerly of Maquon, died at 9:16 p.m. Wednesday (Aug. 27, 2003) at the Knox County Nursing Home, Knoxville.
She was born Feb. 18, 1919, in Knoxville, the daughter of William E. and Ida Stewart Slagle.
She married Chris Emken on Sept. 13, 1941, in Kahoka, Mo.
Surviving are her husband; three sons, Kenneth (and Betty) Emken and Russell (and Teresa) Emken, both of Maquon, and Raymond (and Ann) Emken, Flat Rock; three daughters, Joyce (and Bud) Linroth, Dahinda, Linda (and Sam) Barackman, Boonton, N.J., and Barbara (and Tom) Washburn, Hamilton; one brother, Lyle Slagle, Coeur D'Alene, Idaho; 15 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by one daughter, Joanne Widger, one grandchild, three brothers and one sister.
She was a member of the Douglas United Methodist Church and its Ladies Club, the Elba Worthwhile Ladies Club and the Knox County Home Extension.
