GALESBURG - Neva M. Emrick, 90, Galesburg, formerly of Muscatine, Iowa, died Thursday (June 3, 2004) at her granddaughter's home.
She was born Jan. 8, 1914, in Jones County, Iowa, the daughter of Lester Harrison and Catherine Lucille Peckosh Gardner.
She married Orville Emrick on May 23, 1937, in Cedar County, Iowa. He preceded her in death.
Surviving are two daughters, Lucille Porter, Galesburg, and Lisa (and Charles) Balser, Davenport, Iowa; six grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren and three great-great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, two sisters, a brother and two great-grandchildren.
She was a member of Free Methodist Church in Columbus City.
Funeral will be at 1 p.m. Sunday in Wittich-Lewis Funeral Home, Muscatine, with the Rev. Dave Seelye officiating. Visitation will be from 1 to 4 p.m. today at the funeral home. Burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery.

GALESBURG - Wesley England, 44, 1066 S. Cedar St., died at 10:44 p.m. Wednesday (Sept. 24, 2003) in OSF St. Mary Medical Center.

Erickson, John E.

MONMOUTH - John E. Erickson, 76, 400 N. Sunnylane, died at 2:40 a.m. Saturday (Dec. 20, 2003, in the Monmouth Nursing Home.
He was born Feb. 22, 1927, in Burlington, Iowa, the son of Otto E. and Hazel Emery Erickson.
He married Weona Mae Shoemate on Sept. 22, 1946, in Burlington.
Surviving are his wife; three sons, John (and Joyce) Erickson Jr., Coon Valley, Wis., Craig (and Janis) Erickson, Chaseburg, Wis., and Bradley (and Kris) Erickson, Westby, Wis.; one daughter, Julie Erickson, Petersburg; three brothers, Otto (and Betty) Erickson Jr., Bill Erickson, and Robert (and Claudia) Erickson, all of Burlington; one sister, Roberta Connelly, Burlington; and eight grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, two sisters and two brothers.
He was reared and educated in Burlington. He attended the Police Training Institute in Champaign. He was first employed in 1947 with the Dahlin and Davis Brothers Furniture manufacturing and later at the John Wine Corp., both in Burlington. In 1950 he worked for the Burlington Clean Towel Service and in 1953 became a branch manager for Clean Towel Service in Monmouth. From 1956 to 1967 he was a route manager for Maple City Dairy in Monmouth and in 1967 he purchased and managed Sealtest Dairy, which became Meadow Gold Dairy Distributorships, both in Monmouth. In 1979 he became a deputy for the Warren County Sheriff's Department, being promoted to detective in 1984 and then lieutenant detective in 1989. He retired in 2000.
He was a member of Messiah Lutheran Church in Burlington and later First Lutheran Church in Monmouth. He served on the church council. He also was certified as an emergency medical technician and drove a bus for Cavanaugh Bus Service. He was a member of the Monmouth Volunteer Fire Department and the Warren County Police Auxiliary. He also served on the Warren County Crime Stoppers board.
Funeral will be at 1:30 p.m. Tuesday in First Lutheran Church, Monmouth, with the Rev. Keith Killinger officiating. Friends may call Monday at Turnbull Funeral Home, Monmouth, where the family will receive friends from 4 to 7 p.m., and Tuesday in the church before the service.
Memorials may be made to First Lutheran Church.
Erlandson, Hazel G.

CAMBRIDGE - Hazel G. Erlandson, 87, Cambridge, died Sunday (Oct. 5, 2003), at Genesis Medical Center East Campus, Davenport, Iowa.
She was born Nov. 19, 1915, in Henry County, the daughter of Herman and May Peterson Schumaker.
She married Walter O. Nelson in Septempber 1934. She later married Manfred Halstedt on July 15, 1960, in Cambridge. He died April 17, 1967. She married Frank Erlandson on July 18, 1970, in Cambridge.
Surviving are her husband; four sons, Glenn (and Arlene) Nelson, Stanley (and Sylvia) Nelson, and Richard (and Ginny) Nelson, all of Cambridge, and John (and Sarah) Nelson, Payson, Ariz.; two stepdaughters, Marcelene (and Ray) Howland, Galesburg, and June (and Bruce) Bolin, Woodhull; one stepson, Keith (and Sandy) Erlandson, Woodhull; 11 grandchildren; seven stepgrandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren, and numerous stepgreat-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents and a brother.
She was educated in Cambridge area schools and attended Kewanee Business College.
She had worked as a receptionist/secretary at a dental office in Kewanee. She also was a homemaker.
She was a member of Bethany Lutheran Church, Woodhull, County Center Grange, and the NBC Club.
Funeral will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday at Bethany Lutheran Church, Woodhull, with the Rev. Nancy Jaster officiating . Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at the Cambridge Chapel of Stackhouse-Moore Funeral Services. Burial will be in the Galva Cemetery, Galva.
Memorials may be made to Bethany Lutheran Church or the American Cancer Society.

GALESBURG - Marilyn Jo Fagan, 71, Galesburg, died at 3:06 p.m. Tuesday (Oct. 7, 2003) at home.
She was born July 19, 1932, in Galesburg, the daughter of Joseph and Leah Seines Fagan.
She was preceded in death by her parents.
She attended Knox College and graduated from Kathryn Gibbs School in Chicago.
She worked all her life in the hotel industry.
Graveside service will be at 1 p.m. Friday in Memorial Park Cemetery, with the Rev. Scott Grulke officiating. No visitation is planned. Martin-Hollis Funeral Home, Bushnell, is in charge of arrangements.

GALESBURG - John E. Fairow Sr., 83, 156 Walnut Ave., died at 5:40 p.m. Friday (Dec. 26, 2003) in Galesburg Cottage Hospital.
He was born Aug. 3, 1920, in Davenport, Iowa, the son of Irving and Elizabeth C. Childs Fairow.
He married Wanda Firebaugh on May 3, 1942, in Kahoka, Mo.
Surviving are his wife; three sons, John E. (and Debbie) Fairow, East Peoria, Richard C. Fairow, Galesburg, and Darin L. (and Melissa) Dorethy, Abingdon; two daughters, Barbara J. (and Jeffrey) Rote, Galesburg, and Lela M. Fairow, Galesburg; two brothers, Lorn (and Ginny) Fairow, Davenport, Iowa, and C.E. "Tack" Fairow, Galesburg; 15 grandchildren; and 12 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by a brother, two sisters and a grandson.
He worked at Gale Products in Galesburg in the early 1940s and was the founder of Gale Credit Union. He then worked as the aerospace coordinator for the International Association of Machinists and Aerospace Workers for 28 years, retiring in 1983.
He was a member of Corpus Christi Catholic Church in Galesburg and was a member of Fr. J.O. Hunt Knights of Columbus Council 556.
Funeral will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday in Corpus Christi Catholic Church, with the Rev. Joseph Presley officiating. Visitation will be from 5 to 7:30 p.m. Monday at Watson Funeral Home. The rosary will be said at 7:30 p.m. Burial will be in St. Joseph Cemetery, Galesburg.

Famulener, Rubie C.

ABINGDON - Rubie C. Famulener, 105, a resident of the Care Center of Abingdon, died there at 7:35 a.m. Tuesday (June 17, 2003).
She was born April 10, 1898, in Rainsboro, Ohio, the daughter of Leslie and Elizabeth Holmes Curry.
She married Kenneth M. Famulener on March 23, 1920, in Galesburg. He preceded her in death in 1961.
Surviving are one daughter, Norma (and Roy) Lewis, Galesburg; four grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren and nine great-great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by one daughter, Marian Jean Famulener, an infant sister and two half sisters.
She had lived in Abingdon most of her life and graduated from Abingdon High School in 1916. She graduated from the former Brown's Business College in Galesburg in 1918.
She worked as a telephone operator, had worked in several area restaurants and last worked as a sales clerk at the former Gamble Store in Abingdon.
She was a member of First Congregational United Church of Christ in Abingdon. She was also a member of the Abingdon Garden Club where she had held positions in all the offices of the club; member of Order of Eastern Star; and was past treasurer and member of the Pythian Sisters.
Funeral will be at 2:30 p.m. Friday at the Hinchliff-Pearson-West Abingdon Chapel, with the Revs. M. Annette Faull and Jon Prain officiating. Friends may call one hour before the service on Friday at the chapel. Burial will be in the Abingdon Cemetery.
Memorials may be made to her church or the Care Center of Abingdon activity department.

ONEIDA - Robert D. Fay, 69, 1134 Foxtown Place, died at 2:15 a.m. Friday (Feb. 20, 2004) in OSF St. Mary Medical Center, in Galesburg.
He was born May 15, 1934, in Cable, Ill., the son of Donald R. and Dorothy Moody Fay.
He married Louise F. Peterson on April 29, 1962, in Galesburg.
Surviving are his wife; his mother, Dorothy Fay, Galesburg; two sons, Robin (and Renee) Fay New Windsor, and Roger (and Amy) Fay, Coal Valley; one daughter, Roberta (and Tim) Talbott, Peoria; one sister, Janita Johnston, Altona; one brother, Carroll Fay, Metamora, and seven grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his father and one brother.
He was reared and educated in Galesburg. He graduated from Galesburg High School. He attended George Rankin Trade School for machinists.
He was an assembler at Admiral Corporation in Galesburg for 13 years, and an electrician for Galesburg Sign and Lighting, formerly P&M Sign for eight years.
He was a former member of the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers in Peoria, the Wrangler's Saddle Club in Galva, and the Little John Conservation Club, near Victoria.
He was a member of the First Church of God, Galesburg.
Graveside memorial service will be at 10 a.m. Thursday in the Clover Chapel Cemetery, Woodhull. Visitation will be from 2 to 4 p.m. Sunday at Hurd-Hendricks Funeral Home, Knoxville.
