Ferrell, Judy M.

ELMWOOD - Judy M. Ferrell, 49, Elmwood, died at 7:05 a.m. Friday (Feb. 6, 2004) in Proctor Hospital, Peoria.
She was born April 5, 1954, in Anna, the daughter of Elmer and Eva Morgan Ferrell.
Surviving are three brothers, Tim Ferrell, Elmwood, Dennis Ferrell, Springfield, and Walter Ferrell, Texas.
She had lived all her life in Elmwood and was a member of Elmwood Baptist Church. She worked as a nurse's aid.
Cremation rites have been accorded. A memorial service will be at 2 p.m. Sunday in Elmwood Baptist Church, with the Rev. Dennis Fitzgerald officiating. There will be no visitation.

Ferris, Walter F.

GALESBURG - Walter Frank Ferris, 76, Galesburg, formerly of Abingdon, died at 8:20 p.m. Friday (July 30, 2004) in Seminary Manor.
He was born Jan. 1, 1928, in Oquawka, the son of Clark W. and Alice K. Hendricks Ferris.
Surviving are a brother, Clark Ferris Jr., Wataga; three sisters, Bettie (and Shorty) Groom, Galesburg, Bonnie Anderson, Galva, and Cassilee (and John) Mabey, Caldwell, Idaho; seven nieces; eight nephews; 34 great-nieces and nephews and 29 great-great-nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death bya sister-in-law, Lucille Ferris, his parents, a sister and a niece.
He graduated from Keithsburg High School in 1945.
He served in the Army during World War II.
He worked for the Admiral Corporation for 39 years, retiring April 1, 1991.
Services will be at 3 p.m. Wednesday in Knoxville Cemetery, with military rites by Ralph M. Noble American Legion Post 285. The Rev. Thomas Ek will officiate. Visitation will be from noon to 2:30 p.m. Wednesday in Hinchliff-Pearson-West Galesburg Chapel.
Memorials may be made to the American Diabetes Association, American Cancer Association, or to the Galesburg Rescue Mission and Women's Shelter.
Fesler, Elma

GLENWOOD CITY, Wis. - Elma Fesler, 90, Glenwood City, died Friday (Feb. 20, 2004) at her daughter's home in Glenwood City.
She was born Oct. 5, 1913, in Eugene, Ore., the daughter of John William and Geneva Marie McCallister Davis.
She married Chauncey Fesler on May 8, 1936, in Galesburg.
Surviving are her children, Michael A. (and Judy) Fesler, Danville, Iowa, Gerry E. (and Suzanne) Fesler, Keosauqua, Iowa, and Judy (and Tom) Knox, Glenwood City; a brother, Frederick (and Berniece) Davis, Galesburg; seven grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.
She was raised in Illinois and attended Gilson Schools, Western Illinois University, the University of Illinois, Marycrest College and Purdue University.
She taught for more than 40 years at Dempsey School, Hawcreek School, Toulon Grade School, Coal Valley, East Moline, the University of Illinois and Western Illinois University.
She was a member of Delta Kappa Gamma and Phi Delta Kappa.
Private services will be later.
Memorials may be made to a children's book foundation established in her name at Toulon Elementary School.

KEWANEE - Christine Fields, 89, Kewanee, died at 12:33 p.m. Saturday (Jan. 3, 2004) in Kewanee Public Hospital.
She was born March 3, 1914, in Montgomery, Ala., the daughter of Mariam and Nan Julia McCoo Bucker.
She married Wilbert Fields. He preceded her in death.
She had worked as a sales clerk.
She was of Methodist faith.
Graveside service will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday in East Linwood Cemetery, with the Rev. Joe Patterson officiating. No visitation is planned. Hinchliff-Pearson-West Galesburg Chapel is in charge of arrangements.

IRVING, Texas - Daniel D. Finn, 86, Irving, formerly of Monmouth, died at 1:02 p.m. Wednesday (Oct. 1, 2003) in Victoria Gardens, Allen, Texas.
He was born March 2, 1917, in Princeton, the son of Forest Frank and Julia Beatrice Phipps Finn.
He married Ruth Elizabeth Glenn on June 27, 1940, in Monmouth. She died Dec. 14, 2002.
Surviving are two daughters, Mary Elizabeth (and James T.) Sims, Frisco, Texas, and Glenna Jean (and James T. ) Paul, Vancouver, Wash.; three grandchildren and five great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, a grandson and two brothers.
He was reared and educated in Princeton and graduated from Monmouth College in 1939.
He was office manager at Gale Products in Galesburg for 31 years, retiring in 1976.
He was a member of Central Congregational Church, Galesburg, and Tau Kappa Epsilon, Masonic Lodge 37 and Royal Arch Masonic Lodge 30 in Monmouth.
Cremation was accorded. Private service will be at Victoria Gardens. Burial will be later in Monmouth Cemetery. Hoover-Hall Memorial Chapel, Monmouth, is in charge of arrangements.
William F. Fisher

GALESBURG - William F. "Bill" Fisher, 51, 965 W. Dayton St., died at 1:15 a.m. Wednesday (Feb. 4, 2004) at home.
He was born Jan. 1, 1953, in Springfield, Ohio, the son of William G. and Dorothy Muse Fisher.
He married Terrie L. Wilson on April 1, 1979.
Surviving are his father, William G. (and Patty) Fisher, Galesburg; his mother, Dorothy Swisher, Galesburg; two daughters, Megan (and Temujin) Miller and Leah Fisher, both of Galesburg; a brother, Mike (and Jackie) Fisher in South Carolina; three sisters, Jackie Spann, Franklin, Tenn., and Helene (and Kurt) Stickle and Marlene Fisher, both of Galesburg; and nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews. He was preceded in death by a son, Nathan Fisher, and a brother.
He lived most of his life in Galesburg and attended Galesburg schools.
He was a Navy veteran of the Vietnam War.
He worked as a mill operator at Butler Manufacturing Company for 16 years, retiring in January 2004.
He was a member of the United Steel Workers of America.
Cremation will be accorded. Services will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday in Hinchliff-Pearson-West Galesburg Chapel. No visitation is planned. Private burial will be later.

BRIMFIELD - Mark A. Fitch, 50, Brimfield, died Thursday (May 6, 2004) while trucking near Wheeling, W.Va., due to an apparent heart attack.
He was born July 9, 1953, in Peoria, the son of Merlyn R. and Betty L. Williams Fitch.
Surviving are his mother of Buckley, Wash.; a daughter, Carrie Latta, Peoria; a son, Brad Fitch, Peoria; four brothers, A. Dean (and Sherry) Fitch, Dallas, Okla., Michael R. Fitch, Yates City, F. Daniel Fitch, Buckley, Wash., and Kenneth W. Fitch, Spokane, Wash.; four sisters, Marjorie L. Johnson, Buckley, Wash., Patricia J. (and Keith) Woertz, Dunlap, Gretchen M. (and Paul) Stanley, Waco, Ga., and Jennifer F. (and Alvin) Swanson, Creve Coeur; and a grandson. He was preceded in death by his father.
He was an Army veteran of the Vietnam War.
He worked as a truck driver for many years, most recently for Carlson Trucking in Galesburg.
Funeral will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday in Northwest United Methodist Church, Peoria, with the Rev. Deron Boyer officiating. Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. Monday at Hammitt-Hott Funeral Home, Princeville. Cremation will follow the service. Burial will be later in Brimfield Cemetery.

GALESBURG - Services for David Fleming, 46, Cincinnati, formerly of Galesburg, who died Dec. 19, 2003, will be at 11 a.m. Monday in Bethesda Missionary Baptist Church, with the Rev. Lugene Finley Sr. officiating.
He was born Nov. 28, 1957, in Galesburg, the son of Andrew C. and Ida L. Summers Fleming.
Surviving are his mother of Knoxville; two sisters, Carolyn (and Rev. Lugene) Finley Sr., Galesburg, and Paulette (and Jerry) Gilmore, Geneseo; three brothers, Michael "Goose" (and Gail) Fleming, Galesburg, Walter (and Cheryl) Fleming, Peoria, and Glenn (and Barbara) Fleming, Suwanee, Ga.; two uncles, three nephews and four nieces. He was preceded in death by his father.
Visitation will be at 10 a.m. Monday at the church. Burial will be later.
Fogarty, Laura S.

GALESBURG - Laura Synthia Kelley Fogarty, 109, Galesburg, died at 7 a.m. Tuesday (Nov. 11, 2003) in Rosewood Health Care Center.
She was born Nov. 10, 1894, in Vernon County, Mo., the daughter of Jesse M. and Mary Jane Millikin Kelley.
She married Grover C. Fogarty on Oct. 29, 1912, in Gerard, Kan.
Surviving are two grandchildren, three great-grandchildren, and nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by two sons, Carroll Fogarty and Edward Fogarty, and two sisters.
She was reared and educated in Vernon County, Mo.
She worked at the Peoria State Hospital in Bartonville for 10 years.
She lived in California for 20 years before moving back to Galesburg several years ago.
She was of Christian faith.
Graveside service will be at 11 a.m. Friday in Knoxville Cemetery, with the Rev. Mary Vick Roth officiating. No visitation is planned. Hurd-Hendricks Funeral Home, Knoxville, is in charge of arrangements.
