ALEDO - Chester L. Gordon, 81, Aledo, died Saturday (Dec. 20, 2003) in Veteran's Hospital in Iowa City, Iowa.
He was born Feb. 9, 1922, in Henderson County, the son of Charles and Ida Mae Baldwin Gordon.
He married Gladys Marie Jones on June 17, 1952, in Aledo.
Surviving are three brothers, Donald Gordon, Robert Gordon and Lenard Gordon; a sister, Merylin Ferson; three grandchildren; five great-grandchildren and a great-great-granddaughter.
He and his brother owned a field tiling business in the Aledo area, retiring in 1977.
He was a member of First Baptist Church in Aledo.
Funeral will be at 7 p.m. Tuesday in Fippinger Funeral Home, where visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m. Tuesday. Burial with military honors will be Wednesday morning in National Cemetery, Rock Island Arsenal.
A memorial fund has been established.
Gould, Donald F.

ORION - Donald Frank Gould, 80, Orion, died Sunday (Nov. 2, 2003) at his home.
He was born Dec. 10, 1922, in Western Township, the son of Frank Albert and Della Marie Asplund Gould.
He married Jean Anderson on June 28, 1946, at Swedona Lutheran Church. She died July 26, 2002.
Surviving are one daughter, Debra (and John) Miller, Freeport; AFS daughter, Ellen (and Johan) Hofsli, Norway; a sister, Desyl Lindgren, Moline; four grandchildren; and nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, one sister and brother
He was in the first class to have graduated from the former Orion High School in 1940.
He was a Corporal in the United States Army (1942-1945) during World War II. He served in North Africa and fought the battle at Anzio where he was a Sherman tank driver.
He was a self-employed farmer for 42 years with his wife Jean.
He was a member of Swedona Lutheran Church where he served on the church council; was a member of Henry County Farm Bureau, Ophiem American Legion for over 50 years, 50-year member of the Masons; and a trustee for Lynn Township for 25 years.
Funeral will be at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at Swedona Lutheran Church. Visitation will be from 3 to 7 p.m. Tuesday at Kirk, Huggins & Esterdahl Funeral Home, Ltd., Orion. Burial will be at Western Township Cemetery with military rites being conducted at the cemetery.
Memorials may be made to Swedona Lutheran Church or the Arthritis Foundation.

DECATUR - Jack L. Grady, 64, Decatur, died at 1:35 p.m. Sunday (April 25, 2004) at home.
He was born Nov. 10, 1939, in Galesburg, the son of Ross and Vera Yeager Grady.
He married Karin Betzer on Nov. 5, 1994, in Decatur.
Surviving are his wife; two sons, Rodney (and Shelly) Grady, Decatur, and Brian Grady of California; a daughter, Linda (and James) Correa, Gaithersburg, Md.; his stepfather, William V. Lashbrook, Canton, Ga.; three brothers, Roy (and Dianne) Lashbrook, Pale City, Ala., Terry Grady and Roger (and Connie) Grady, both of Galesburg; two stepsons, Rick Betzer and Randy (and Lisa) Betzer, both of Decatur; two stepdaughters, Robin (and Robert) Shafer, Warrensburg, and Renee (and Donald) Woollen, Oakley; a brother-in-law, Ross (and Peggy) Dash, Decatur; a sister-in-law, Naomi (and Carroll) Ford, Decatur; and 18 grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents and two brothers.
He graduated from Galesburg High School in 1958.
He moved to Decatur in 1989 and worked in motorcycle sales until 1999. He also had been a driver at Hills Trucking Company.
Services will be at 5:15 p.m. today in Glad Tidings Assembly of God Church, with the Rev. B.G. Nevitt officiating. Visitation will be one hour before the service at the church. Edwards Funeral Home, Arcola, is in charge of arrangements.
Memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society, Glad Tidings Assembly of God Youth Program, Heritage Behavioral Health Center or the YWCA in Decatur.

EAST GALESBURG - Mary Elizabeth Gray, 84, 119 Lakeview Drive, died at 12:08 p.m. Wednesday (April 7, 2004), in Galesburg Cottage Hospital.
She was born July 15, 1919, in Des Moines, Iowa, the daughter of E.P. Sr. and Nellie C. Wagnor Eustice.
She married William E. Gray on April 23, 1949, in Cleveland, Ohio. He died in 1995.
Surviving are a daughter, Sharon (and Tracy) Kirkwood, East Galesburg; a stepson, William E. Gray Jr., North Port, Fla.; a brother, E.P. Eustice Jr., Sun City West, Ariz.; three grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; and one great-great-granddaughter. She was preceded in death by a brother.
She worked in the admitting and billing office at OSF St. Mary Medical Center in Galesburg for 24 years, retiring in 1983.
She was a member of Mount Calvary Lutheran Church, Galesburg.
Cremation has been accorded. Family will greet friends from 1 to 3 p.m. April 17 at 119 Lakeview Drive, East Galesburg. Watson Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

She was born Sept. 25, 1924, in Canton, the daughter of Clarence and Verna V. Sutton Ashley.
She married Albert Gregory on Aug. 31, 1946, in Canton.
Surviving are her husband; nine sons, David Gregory and Matthew (and Debby) Gregory, both of Mililani, Hawaii, Phillip (and Brenda) Gregory and John Michael (and Sally) Gregory, both of Canton, Charles "Bud" (and Becky) Gregory, Simpsonville, S.C., Andrew (and Beth) Gregory and Dennis (and Mary) Gregory, both of Tucson, Ariz., Jym (and Dedra) Gregory, Madrid, Spain, and Tom (and Michelle) Gregory, Granger, Ind.; five daughters, Maura (and Jimmie) Neighbors, Louisville, Ky., Elise Davis, Canton, Anita (and Eddie) Clay and Melanie (and Michael) Jurlando, both of Winter Haven, Fla., and Monica (and Charles) Conner, Galesburg; two sisters, Charolette (and Rod) Maquire and Donna (and Robert) Cardot, both of Canton; 23 grandchildren; a great-grandchild; two stepgrandchildren and a stepgreat-grandchild. She was preceded in death by her parents and a brother.
She was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church in Canton.
Funeral will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday in St. Mary's Catholic Church, with the Rev. Arthur D. Meyer officiating. Visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m. Monday at Oaks-Hines Funeral Home, with the rosary recited at 4:45 p.m. Private burial will be in St. Joseph Cemetery.

LEWISTOWN - Glenna V. Grosclaude, 77, 705 Arnold St., died at 4:21 p.m. Wednesday (Sept. 3, 2003) in Methodist Medical Center, Peoria.
She was born Oct. 18, 1925, in Bernadotte Township, Fulton County, the daughter of Sydnor F. and Bessie Jane Williams Stockham.
She married Ray R. Grosclaude on July 23, 1946, in Peoria.
Surviving are two sons, Syd Grosclaude, Round Lake, and Kim (and Debbie) Grosclaude, Lewistown; two daughters, Dawn (and Bill) Taulman, Reno, Nev., and Cindi (and Chuck) Abbott, Smithfield; one stepson, Dennis Grosclaude, in California; three sisters, Charlotte (and Art) McCarty, Broomfield, Colo., Maurine (and Bud) Phillips, and Marilyn Blackwell, all of Lewistown; and 10 grandchildren. She was preceded in death by six brothers and three sisters.
She worked at the Atwood Plant, Havana, the former Lewistown News, and retired from the Fulton County Animal Control Department.
She was a member of Lewistown Methodist Church and the Lewistown Community High School Alumni Association.
Graveside service will be at 11 a.m. Monday in Oak Hill Cemetery, with the Rev. Terry Westerfield officiating. Visitation will be from 4 to 6 p.m. Sunday in Henry-Lange Memorial Home.

LEWISTOWN - Annabel C. Gray, 68, 16998 E. County Highway 9, died at 6:42 p.m. Monday (July 26, 2004) in Heartland Health Care Center, Canton.
She was born Sept. 10, 1935, in Lewistown, the daughter of Ronald and Celia White Lynch.
She married Robert D. "Bus" Gray on March 30, 1955, in Palmyra, Mo.
Surviving are her husband; one daughter, Vickie (and Dan) Coon, Galesburg; one daughter-in-law, Sheila Gray, Lewistown; one sister, Dorothy Barrett, Lewistown; four grandsons; and three great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by one son, David Gray, two brothers and one sister.
She worked for 25 years as a rehabilitation nurse, nursing director and administrator at the former Clarytona Nursing Home in Lewistown.
She was a member of the Illinois Street Christian Church in Lewistown, was a life member of the Lewistown VFW Post 5001 Auxiliary, and a member of Lewistown American Legion Auxiliary.
Funeral will be at 11 a.m. Friday at Henry-Lange Memorial Home in Lewistown, with the Rev. Leonard Leslie officiating. Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday at the memorial home. Burial will be in Oak Hill Cemetery at Lewistown.

LEWISTOWN - David L. Gray, 47, Lewistown, died at 6:46 a.m. Thursday (Sept. 18, 2003) at home.
He was born Oct. 2, 1955, in Canton, the son of Robert "Bus" and Annabel Lynch Gray.
He married Sheila West on Feb. 28, 1976, in rural Lewistown.
Surviving are his wife; his parents of rural Lewistown; two sons, Robert J. (and Dawn) Gray, Macomb, and Anthony S. Gray, Lewistown; a sister, Vickie Coon, Galesburg, and three grandsons. He was preceded in death by his grandparents.
He worked at the former International Harvester in Canton, drove 25 years for the former Gray Trucking Company and currently worked for the Fulton County Highway Department.
He was a member of Waterford Union Church and the Canton Moose Lodge, and was treasurer for AFSCME Local 1372.
Funeral will be at 1 p.m. Monday in Henry-Lange Memorial Home, with the Rev. Ithel Kenser officiating. Visitation will be from 3 to 6 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home. Burial will be in Oak Hill Cemetery.

Greene, Richard A.

PINE BROOK HILLS, Colo. - Richard A. Greene, Pine Brook Hills, formerly of Monmouth and Galesburg, died Dec. 24, 2003.
A native of Chicago, he graduated from the University of Illinois and had lived in the Midwest, Florida and Colorado.
While living in the Midwest, he operated businesses including nursing homes, assisted living centers and home-based nursing care companies.
He and his wife Dale moved to Pine Brook Hills in 1987. He was involved with environmental groups, including the Sierra Club. He and his wife also were involved in opening the "Day Reporting Center," which worked with criminal justice offenders in Lakewood.
Services were Sunday in Pine Brook Hills Community Center.

MONMOUTH - Fay Gustafson, 67, Monmouth, died Wednesday (Dec. 17, 2003) in Galesburg Cottage Hospital.
She was born Oct. 14, 1936, in New Windsor, the daughter of Donnie and Maxine Greer Heck.
She married Elvin R. Gustafson on Jan. 7, 1956, in Galesburg.
Surviving are her husband; three sons, Martin Gustafson, Springfield, Marc (and Camee) Gustafson, Madison, Wis., and Michael (and Darci) Gustafson, Galva; her mother of Aledo; three sisters, Donna Beede, Aledo, Ethel Carlson, Galesburg, and Janet Rader, Sun Prairie, Wis.; a brother, Harold "Spike" Heck, Aledo; and five grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her father and a brother.
She graduated from Aledo High School in 1954 and attended American Institute of Commerce in Davenport, Iowa.
She worked as a bookkeeper before her marriage at Ranney's Garage in Aledo. She ran an antique shop in Monmouth with Pat Carson for more than 12 years.
She was a member for 40 years of the Business Women's Group bowling team in Monmouth.
Funeral will be at 11 a.m. Saturday in Fippinger Funeral Home, Aledo, with the Rev. Carl Stoldt officiating. Visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m. Friday at the funeral home. Burial will be in Aledo Cemetery.
A memorial fund has been established and contributions may be left at the funeral home.

WATAGA - William R. "Bill" Green, 60, 233 Victoria St., died at 8:20 p.m. Tuesday (Feb. 17, 2004) in OSF St. Mary Medical Center, Galesburg.
He was born April 19, 1943, in Aledo, the son of Virgil and Ruth E. Fender Green.
Surviving are a son, Jeffery W. Green, Murphysboro; and three sisters, Carol Hare, Galesburg, Peggy (and Sam) Thompson, New Windsor, and Gloria (and Maurice) Peterson, Alpha. He was preceded in death by his parents.
He graduated from Galesburg High School in 1961.
An Army veteran, he served for one year during the Vietnam War.
He lived most of his life in the Alpha and Wataga areas.
He worked as a mechanic at A. C. McCartney in Wataga for 11 years.
He was a member of Oneida American Legion Post 727 and the VFW.
Cremation will be accorded. No services are planned. Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. Friday at Hinchliff-Pearson-West Galesburg Chapel, followed by military rites by American Legion Post 727.
