ALEXIS - Hazel A. Gustafson, 83, Alexis, died at 12:25 a.m. today (Oct. 9, 2003) in Rosewood Care Center, Galesburg.
She was born July 17, 1930, in Mercer County, the daughter of D. Clay and Minnie M. Swanson Hoover.
She married Donald I. "Bud" Gustafson on Nov. 17, 1938, in Cambridge. He died Nov. 18, 1979.
Surviving are three daughters, Niomia (and Paul) Lindburg, Milan, Linda (and Jerry) Corbin, Mitchell, Neb., and Rosemary (and Curtis) Shannon, Altona; two sons, Donald Gustafson, Texarkana, Ark., and William (and Margaret "Muffy") Gustafson, Galesburg; a brother, William (and Dorothy) Hoover, Monmouth; 10 grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; and a niece. She was preceded in death by her parents, two daughters, Carol Moore and Diane Gustafson, a granddaughter, a great-granddaughter and a sister.
She was reared and educated in Alexis.
She was a homemaker, helped farm and worked at Formfit Company, Monmouth.
Funeral will be at 10:30 a.m. Saturday in Hoover-Hall Memorial Chape, Alexis, with elder Paul Lindburg officiating. Friends may call after 3 p.m. on Friday at the funeral home; family will be present from 6:30 to 8 p.m. Burial will be in Monmouth Cemetery.
Memorials may be made to Community Hospices of America or Alexis United Presbyterian Church.

GALESBURG - Mr. William F. Gustafson, Jr, 76, of 144 Willard St. Wataga, IL, died at 10:13 AM at his home.
He was born July 7, 1927 in Galesburg, IL to William F., Sr. and Anna Knutson Gustafson. He married R. Elaine Williams July 20, 1952 in Galesburg, IL. She preceded him in death March 21, 2000.
He is survived by 2 sons Ð William F. Gustafson III and Glen A. (his wife Patricia) Gustafson both of Galesburg; 1 daughter Ð Christina (her husband Mike) Campbell of Sulphur, LA; 1 brother Ð Robert (his wife Judy) Gustafson of Knoxville, IL; 1 sister Lois McKillip of Galesburg, IL and 5 grandchildren.
He is preceded in death by his parents, his wife and a sister.
He was a salesman for Western Illinois Harvestore in Galesburg for 20 years and then he was a public service supervisor for Knox County Courthouse in Galesburg, IL for 10 years and retired in 1997. He is a 1945 Galesburg High graduate. He is of the Lutheran faith. He lived in Galesburg until 1972 when he moved to Wataga, IL.
Graveside service will be 11:30 AM Tuesday (12-2-03) at the Wataga Cemetery with the Rev. Jill Vivroux officiating. Visitation will be 10:00 Ð 11:00 AM Tuesday (12-2-03) at Hinchliff-Pearson-West Galesburg Chapel. Memorials can be made to the Faith Lutheran Church in Wataga, IL or to the charity of the donor's choice.

GALESBURG - Marjorie Lillian Gustafson, 83, formerly of 554 Irwin St., died at 5:25 p.m. Monday (Sept. 8, 2003) in Seminary Manor.
She was born April 17, 1920, in Galesburg, the daughter of Carl A. and Anna Johnson Gustafson.
Surviving are a sister, Virginia Gustafson, Galesburg. She was preceded in death by three sisters.
She graduated from Galesburg High School in 1938 and from Knox College in 1942, received a master's from the University of Illinois and did undergraduate work at Harvard, Middlebury and University of Wisconsin.
A teacher for 50 years, she began teaching French at Wayland Academy and Tutor Hall School, then taught and was Dean of Women at St. Katherine College in Davenport, Iowa, and MacMurray College, retiring in 1981.
She was a member of First Lutheran Church, Phi Beta Kappa Fraternity and Friends of the Galesburg Public Library, was assistant to the director of the Knox-Lombard 50 Year Club and was a class agent for the Knox College Development Office. She received the Knox College Service Award in 1996.
She played violin and was a charter member of the Jacksonville Symphony Orchestra.
She was past president of the Jacksonville branch of the American Association of University Women; participated in the Fulbright exchange program, teaching at the Lycee Auguste Pavie in Brittany; was inducted into the Societe d'Honneur Francaise; and published a children's French reader entitled Le Cornemuseur et Son Chien.
Funeral will be at 10 a.m. Thursday in Hinchliff-Pearson-West Galesburg Chapel, with the Rev. Paul Johnson officiating. No visitation is planned. Burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery.
Memorials may be made to her church.

SMYRNA, Ga. - Jerry Hagerty, 50, died Jan. 2, 2004.
He was born Jan. 23, 1953, in Galesburg.
Surviving are two brothers, Michael Hagerty, Berkeley, Calif., and Mark O'Connell, Spartanburg, S.C.; and four sisters, Katie Leahy, Chattanooga, Tenn., Mary Pirtle, Mackinaw, Cea Tait, Jefferson City, Mo., and Barb Schubert, Avon Lake, Ohio.
He graduated from Costa High School in 1971.
He worked for TWA in Kansas City and then Unisys in Atlanta earning several awards including Volunteer of the Year from Georgia's Department of Natural Resources.
A memorial service will be Jan. 24 in Smyrna. Cremation Society of the South is in charge of arrangements.
Memorials may be made to Upper Chattahoochee Riverkeeper.

ELMWOOD - Vivian E. Hahn, 89, Elmwood, died at 9:20 a.m. Tuesday (Feb. 2, 2004) in Farmington Country Manor.
She was born March 12, 1914, in Wellman, Iowa, the daughter of John and Eva Wagamon Miller.
She married Edward L. Hahn on Sept. 19, 1932, in Muscatine, Iowa. He died April 23, 1993.
Surviving are two daughters, Nancy (and William) Colgan, Glasford, and Barbara (and Dr. Jose) Fernandez, San Antonio, Texas; a sister, Ethyl Herlein, Muscatine, Iowa; 11 grandchildren, and 23 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by a great-grandson.
She lived most of her life in Elmwood, where she and her husband owned and operated The Place Theatre for 46 years.
She was a member of Elmwood Presbyterian Church, Elmwood Eastern Star, Elmwood Woman's Club and Elmwood Historical Society.

MOLINE - Gwendolyn C. Hoyt-Hakeman, 76, Moline, formerly of Galesburg, died Tuesday (Aug. 12, 2003) at home.
She was born Dec. 10, 1926, in Galesburg, the daughter of Vincent and Irene Housh Cissell.
She married Lewis D. Hakeman on May 5, 1988, in Davenport, Iowa.
Surviving are her husband; a daughter, Tina (and Carl) Gerks, Yuma, Ariz.; three sons, Bob (and Debra) Hoyt, Buffalo Prairie, Tim (and Mindy) Hoyt of Rio, and Doug Hoyt of North Henderson; three sisters, Shirley Healey of Dahinda, Martha (and John) Melton, Galesburg, and Carlene (and Dan) Bendixon, Elgin; 11 grandchildren and three great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by one brother, Bud and three sisters, Delores, Joann, and Barbara.

KNOXVILLE - Louise L. Hall, 90, a resident of the Knox County Nursing Home, died there at 9:45 a.m. Wednesday (May 5, 2004).
She was born July 31, 1913, in Tarkio, Mo., the daughter of Samuel and Nellie Traub Fox.
She married Howard Hall on Feb. 23, 1939. He died in 1972.
Surviving are a son, Donald H. (and Barbara) Hall, Knoxville; three grandsons, Brian (and Heidi) Hall, Delong, and Brent (and Stephanie) Hall and Darrin Hall, both of Galesburg; two great-grandchildren and two stepgreat-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents and nine brothers and sisters.
She graduated from Knoxville High School.
She was a homemaker.
She was a member of United Methodist Church in Alexis.
Funeral will be at 11 a.m. Saturday in Hinchliff-Pearson-West Galesburg Chapel, where visitation will be from 10 to 11 a.m. Saturday. Burial will be in Oak Lawn Memorial Gardens.

MONMOUTH - LaVerla Madeline Hammond, 88, died Saturday (Oct. 4, 2003), at Community Medical Center.
She was born Dec. 25, 1914, in Parnell, Mo., the daughter of Elmer and Della Dukes Herndon.
She married Roy E. Hammond on Sept. 30, 1935, in Maryville, Mo. He died in 1981.
Surviving are one son, LeRoy (and Janet) Hammond, Monmouth; one brother, Harley Herndon, Seneca, Mo.; one sister, Helen Fare, Ravenwood, Mo.; two grandchildren and one great-grandchild. She was preceded in death by her parents, one brother and two sisters.
She graduated from Parnell High School in Parnell, Mo.
She and her husband lived in Missouri, and she moved to Monmouth in 1984.
She was a member of the United Methodist Church.
Graveside servies will be at 10 a.m. today at the Rose Hill Cemetery, Parnell, Mo., with the Rev. Susan Noakes officiating. Price Funeral Home, Maryville, Mo., is in charge of arrangements.

GALESBURG - Waymond E. "Pud" Hamilton, 71, Galesburg, died Thursday (July, 29, 2004) in Heartland Nursing Center.
He was born March 7, 1933, in Brookport, the son of McGowan and Colean Shannon Hamilton.
He married Margaret James on July 2, 1964, in Chicago. She preceded him in death.
Surviving are two sons, David W. Hamilton, California, and Waymond Hamilton Jr., Minneapolis; three daughters, Cathy Smith, Patricia Hamilton and Karen Hamilton, all of Chicago; a sister, Helen Hamilton, Galesburg; and a sister-in-law, Evelyn Hamilton, Chicago. He was preceded in death by his parents and two brothers.
He was educated in Louisiana and graduated from John McDonogh High School.
He served in Army during the Korean War.
He was a steel worker and employed by LTV Steel in Gary, Ind., for 35 years.
Funeral will be at noon Tuesday in Fletcher and McDougald Chapel, with the Rev. Jon Sibley officiating. Friends may call from 11 a.m. until the service Tuesday at the funeral home. Burial will be in East Linwood Cemetery.
