IPAVA - Esther N. Hodgkins, 87, Ipava, died at 2:47 a.m. Wednesday (Oct. 22, 2003) in Graham Hospital, Canton.
She was born Dec. 25, 1915, in LeRoy, the daughter of Nolan and Susan Uhrich Williamson.
She married Lewie Hodgkins on Sept. 12, 1931, in Peoria. He died May 11, 1986.
Surviving are a son, Stephen (and Irene) Hodgkins, Smithfield; nine daughters, Nancy (and Michael) Trone, Smithfield, Judith (and Donald) Button, Dacona, Colo., Sue (and Royal) Stafford, Ipava, Cheryl (and Peter) Medina, Galesburg, Patricia (and Glen) Housh, Washington, Sharon (and Harry Lee) Ford, Marietta, Sandra (and Walter) Richey, New Philadelphia, and Janice (and Allen) Swise and Evelyn (and Wilfred) Wertz, both of Canton; two brothers, Millard Williamson, LeRoy, and Ivan Williamson, Terre Haute, Ind.; 44 grandchildren; 99 great-grandchildren and 35 great-great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by a son, two brothers, a sister, a granddaughter and three great-grandchildren.
She worked for six years at Blue Bell Corporation in Bushnell and for 14 1/2 years at Canton Manufacturing Company, retiring in 1980.
She was a member of Church of the Nazarene in Smithfield and a past member of ACTV Local Union 485.
Funeral will be at 1 p.m. Saturday in Henry-Lange Memorial Home, Cuba, with the Rev. Layton Malone officiating. Visitation will be one hour before the service at the funeral home. Burial will be in Marietta Cemetery.

Hodson, T. Ray

PRAIRIE CITY - T. Ray Hodson, 90, Prairie City, died at 9:50 a.m. Friday (Nov. 7, 2003) in Prairie City Health Care Center.
He was born July 26, 1913, in Cuba, the son of John A. and Jessie Mae Morris Hodson.
Surviving are a sister, Agnes Sherman, Prairie City. He was preceded in death by his parents, two sisters and a brother.
He was an Army veteran of World War II.
He worked at International Harvester in Canton and as a rural mail carrier for the U.S. Postal Service. He was retired.
Funeral will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday in Martin-Hollis Funeral Home, Bushnell, with the Rev. Terry Broady officiating. Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. Monday at the funeral home, where friends may call after 2 p.m. Burial will be in Prairie City Cemetery.
Memorials may be made to the Shriner's Crippled Children's Hospital.

MONMOUTH - Inez Louise Hoelscher, 83, rural Monmouth, died at 12:40 p.m. Sunday (Feb. 15, 2004) at home.
She was born July 17, 1920, in Augusta, the daughter of Cadamus Adonis Romulus "Romie" and Opal Irene Heaton Staff.
She married Earl Levi Hoelscher on Nov. 5, 1938, in New London, Mo.
Surviving are her husband; a son, Douglas (and Linda) Hoelscher, Monmouth; a daughter, Beverly (and Gary) Johnson, Monmouth; four grandchildren; a great-grandchild; nieces and a nephew. She was preceded in death by her parents and a brother.
She was reared and educated in Augusta.
She was a homemaker and worked as a veterinarian's assistant at Price and Hall in Monmouth for 15 years.
Cremation was accorded. Graveside service will be at 1:30 p.m. Friday in Brooklyn Cemetery. No visitation is planned. Hoover-hall Memorial Chapel is in charge of the arrangements.
Memorials may be made to Community Hospices of America or Maple City Baptist Church, Monmouth.

GALESBURG - Anna M. "Sally" Holloway, 68, 492 Harding St., died at 3:02 a.m. Wednesday (April 21, 2004), in Galesburg Cottage Hospital.
She was born July 23, 1935, in Galesburg, the daughter of Sylvester and Addie Moore Kimbrough.
She married James Holloway on Sept. 1, 1979, in Galesburg.
Surviving are her husband; a son, Walter (and Susan) Gordon, Galesburg; a stepson, Kenneth Holloway, St. Louis, Mo.; two daughters, Marsha LaViolette and Terryl Gordon, both of St. Paul, Minn.; two stepdaughters, Yvonnda (and Darryl) Booker and Trina Holloway, both of St. Louis, Mo.; one brother, James (and Nancy) Kimbrough, Galesburg; 10 grandchildren and four great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents and a sister.
She graduated from Galesburg High School in 1953.
She worked as an Educational Assistant for the St. Paul, Minn., public dschools, retiring in 1997. She lived in St. Paul from 1971 to 1998, and lived in Galesburg the rest of her life.
She was a member of the Second Baptist Church in Galesburg.
Funeral will be at 11 a.m. Monday at the Second Baptist Church, with the Rev. L.G. Trammell officiating. Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. Sunday at Hinchliff-Pearson-West Galesburg Chapel. Burial will be in East Linwood Cemetery.

ALEDO - Helen M. Holtz, 87, Aledo, formerly of Sherrard, died Saturday (Dec. 20, 2003) in the Mercer County Nursing Home.
She was born Aug. 18, 1916, in Richland Grove Township, the daughter of Lewis and Edna Carlson Young.
She married Harold Dale Holtz on May 11, 1938, in Davenport, Iowa. He died in 1988.
Surviving are two daughters, Jean (and Dean) Baker, Aledo, and Linda (and Jerry) Sisson, Geneseo; six grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents and a brother.
She graduated from New Windsor High School.
She was a homemaker and farmed with her husband.
Funeral will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday in Peterson Wallin Knox Funeral Home, Alpha, where visitation will be one hour before the service. Burial will be in Western Township Cemetery, Orion.
Memorials may be made to Sherrard Ambulance Service or the Mercer County Nursing Home.

ABINGDON Ð M. Maxine Homer, 714 N. Main St., died at 1:05 a.m. Wednesday (April 28, 2004) in OSF St. Mary Medical Center, Galesburg.
She was born Feb. 7, 1927, near Ipava, the daughter of Carl and Mattie Smith.
She married William E. "Bill" Homer on Dec. 28, 1946, in Abingdon. He died July 6, 1996.
Surviving are a son, Keith Homer, Abingdon; two daughters, Patti (and Alan) Admire, rural Abingdon, and Nancy Homer-Ray (and Eric Olson), Abingdon; nine grandchildren, seven great-grandchildren; two sisters, Marge Albin, Galesburg, and Donna Moore, Peoria; a brother, Loren Smith, Chillicothe; and nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents and a brother.
She graduated from Abingdon High School in 1945.
She lived most of her adult life in Abingdon.
She worked as an assembler at Maytag in Galesburg, retiring in 1989.
She was a member of First Congregational United Church of Christ.
Funeral will be at 10 a.m. Saturday in First Congregational United Church of Christ, with the Rev. M. Annette Faull officiating. Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. Friday at Hinchliff-Pearson-West Abingdon Chapel. Burial will be in Abingdon Cemetery.

MONMOUTH - Iva Belle Hopkins, 95, Monmouth, died at 9:15 p.m. Friday (Jan. 23, 2004) in Community Care Center.
She was born March 11, 1908, in Diagonal, Iowa, the daughter of Frank and Nellie Ramsey Lightner.
She married Weldon O. Hopkins on Feb. 14, 1934, in Monmouth. He died Feb. 13, 1981.
Surviving are a son, James (and Patricia) Hopkins, Monmouth; a brother, Gene Lightner, Bettendorf, Iowa; two sisters, Martha Rabel, Bettendorf, Iowa, and Frances Riepe, Grays Lake; six grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; a stepgreat-granddaughter; and nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, a daughter, Lois Jackson, a granddaughter and two great-granddaughters.
She was reared and educated in Mercer County and graduated from Joy High School in 1926. She attended Monmouth College for a year.
She worked at Ford-Hopkins Drug Store in Monmouth, was a homemaker and farmed with her husband until moving to Monmouth in 1977.
She was a member of First United Methodist Church and its Ruth Circle, making quilts with the Piece Corps, Bloodmobile and the Golden Friendship group.
Funeral will be at 1:30 p.m. Tuesday in Hoover-Hall Memorial Chapel, with the Rev. Suzanne Geer officiating. Friends may call Tuesday at the funeral home; family will be present from 12:30 p.m. until the service. Burial will be in Warren County Memorial Park.

KNOXVILLE - Bonnie J. Hopkins, 92, a resident of the Knox County Nursing Home, died there at 11:50 p.m. Monday (Aug. 4, 2003).
She was born Oct. 5, 1910, in Warren County, the daughter of James A. and Maude Williamson Newkirk.
She married Rex F. Hopkins on Oct. 15, 1930, in Galesburg. He died Aug. 18, 1970.
Surviving are a daughter, Sally (and James) Hutchcroft, Gilson; a daughter-in-law, Barbara Hopkins, Knoxville; four grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; two stepgreat-grandchildren and a stepgreat-great-granddaughter. She was preceded in death by her parents, one son, Frank Hopkins, and three sisters.
She was reared and educated in the Galesburg area and graduated from Galesburg High School.
She was a homemaker and farmed with her husband in the Delong area. She moved to Knoxville in 1971.
She was a member of First United Presbyterian Church, Chapter AM, P.E.O. Sisterhood, the MI Club and the Lucretia Leffingwell Chapter of NSDAR.
Graveside service will be at 11 a.m. Friday in Knoxville Cemetery, with the Rev. Lane Andrist officiating. Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday at Hurd-Hendricks Funeral Home.

William A. Howard

WATAGA - William A. "Willy" Howard, 47, 536 E. Willard St., died at 11:55 a.m. Wednesday (Jan. 7, 2004) at home.
He was born June 5, 1956, in Galesburg, the son of Donald W. and Rita J. Swartz Howard.
Surviving are his fiancee, Christine Gray, Wataga; two daughters, Sherry K. Howard and Kristy D. Howard, both of Victorville, Calif.; a stepdaughter, Stephanie Gray, Wataga; two brothers, Wayne R. Howard and Fred D. Howard, both of Florida; and a grandson. He was preceded in death by his parents.
He graduated from Galesburg High School in 1974 and from Black Hawk College.
He lived most of his life in the Galesburg and Wataga areas.
He was an ironworker for Union Local 111.
No services are planned. Visitation will be from 1 to 3 p.m. Sunday at Hinchliff-Pearson-West Galesburg Chapel. Cremation will follow the visitation.

MARIETTA - Ramona F. Howard, 70, Marietta, died at 6:30 a.m. Wednesday (Feb. 25, 2004) in McDonough District Hospital, Macomb.
She was born Sept. 29, 1933, in Walnut Grove, the daughter of J. David and Irene D. Haffner Brewer.
She married Lloyd English on Feb. 23, 1952. He died May 29, 1972. She married Morris "Nig" Howard on June 1, 1973. He died May 5, 1984.
Surviving are three sons, Stephen (and Janet) English, Marietta, and Kirby (and Cheryl) English and Todd (and Veronica) English, both of Bushnell; a daughter-in-law, Judy English, Macomb; three stepsons, Eldon Howard, Tom Howard and Rex Howard; a stepdaughter, Faye Heap; a brother, Lyndal Brewer, Springfield; a sister, Amy Brooks, Bushnell; eight grandchildren; four great-great-grandchildren; and stepgrandchildren and stepgreat-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, a son, Gregory English, two brothers and a stepson.
She worked at the Marietta Post Office and at Nelson's Billards Supply in Bushnell for 20 years. She was the village clerk in Marietta for 28 years.
Cremation will be accorded. Graveside service will be at 10 a.m. Monday in Marietta Cemetery, with the Rev. Terry Broady officiating. No visitation is planned. Martin-Hollis Funeral Home, Bushnell, is in charge of arrangements.
Memorials may be made to the hospice program at McDonough District Hospital.
