GALESBURG - Thelma D. Jackson, 82, 886 W. 2nd St., died Saturday (Sept. 13, 2003) in Galesburg Cottage Hospital.
She was born March 7, 1921, in Galesburg, the daughter of Silas and Queenie Steward Brown.
She married William C. Jackson on Sept. 16, 1939. He preceded her in death.
Surviving are five children, Sherri L. (and Elbert) Kimbrough, Fremont, Calif., Larry D. (and Carolyn) Jackson, Clinton, Md., William B. (and Odette) Jackson, Galesburg, Stephanie K. (and Rodney) Grimes, Knoxville, and Kevin M. (and Alice) Jackson, Bedford, Va.; 11 grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; and nieces and nephews.
She graduated from Galesburg High School.
She was recreation coordinator at Carver Community Action Center for more than 21 years and also had worked at Hearts Jewelers.
She was a member of Allen Chapel A.M.E. Church and Order of the Eastern Star, Patron Chapter 18.
Funeral will be at 3 p.m. Friday in Watson Funeral Home, with the Revs. Annette Edwards and Roosevelt Lindsey officiating. Visitation will be from 1:30 to 3 p.m. Friday at the funeral home. Burial will be in East Linwood Cemetery.

ZANESVILLE, Ohio - Katie Ann Jenkins, 18, Zanesville, died at 5:17 p.m. Tuesday (April 20, 2004), at Genesis Good Samaritan Hospital.
She was born April 5, 1986, in Zanesville, the daughter of Jack Jr. and Vicki Jenkins.
Surviving are her mother of Zanesville; her father of Urbana, Ohio; a brother, Brian; her grandparents, Larry and Pat Kane, Zanesville, and Jack and Mary Jenkins, Newport News, Va.; a great-grandmother, Corrine Ryner, Monmouth, Ill.; four aunts, Mary Kane, Michele (and Fred) Carter, Paula (and Scott) Bell and Cindy (and Andy) DeMarco; a uncle, Michael Jenkins; and cousins.
She was a senior at Maysville High School and an active member of many school activities.
She was a member of the St. Nicholas Catholic Church and was employed by Pac Sun at the Mall.
Funeral will be at 1 p.m. Saturday at St. Nicholas Catholic Church, with the Rev. Leo Connolly officiating. Friends may call from 2 to 4 p.m. and 6 to 8 p.m. Friday at Bolin Funeral Home. Burial will be in Zanesville Memorial Park.

Jensen, Gregory A.

OLATHE, Kan. - Gregory Alan Jensen, 47, Olathe, Kan., died July 23, 2004, in Research Medical Center, Kansas City, Mo.
He was born Sept. 25, 1956, in Galesburg.
Surviving are his wife of 25 years, Judy; four daughters, Adrienne (and Christopher) Newlin, Alissa Jensen, Rachael Jensen and Sarah Jensen; his mother and stepfather, Mary and Dominick Karlovich, Galesburg; one brother, Mike Karlovich; two sisters, Roxanne Sutton and Janice Karlovich; and one grandson. He was preceded in death by his father and paternal and maternal grandparents.
Services were held July 28 at Mt. Olive Lutheran Church in Overland Park, Kan. Burial was in Johnson County Memorial Gardens.
Memorials may be made to the Greg Jensen Memorial Fund or to Mt. Olive Lutheran Church, Overland Park, Kan.

Alice H. Jensen

LAWRENCE, Kan. - Alice Harriet Jensen, 93, Lawrence, formerly of Monmouth, died at 1:59 a.m. Tuesday (Sept. 23, 2003) in Pioneer Ridge Nursing Home, Lawrence.
She was born Sept. 28, 1909, in Elmira, the daughter of William M. and June E. Clarke Jensen.
She married Russell M. Jensen on April 3, 1937, at Chariton, Iowa. He died Oct. 13, 2001.
Surviving are a son, Eric Jensen, New York, N.Y.; two daugthers, Laura Foust, Lawrence, Kan., and Christina Harris, Oklahoma City, Okla.; four grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, two sisters and a brother.
She was reared and educated in Fullerton, Calif., and graduated from Monmouth College.
She raised quarter horses in Monmouth for many years.
She was a member of the Monmouth College Pi Phi's and participated with Girl Scouts.
Graveside service will be at 11 a.m. Saturday in Warren County Memorial Park Cemetery, with the Rev. Stafford Weeks officiating. Visitation will be from 9 to 11 a.m. Saturday in Turnbull Funeral Home, Monmouth.
Memorials may be made to Monmouth College.

Jepson, Lyle P.
February 19, 2004
NASHUA, Iowa - Lyle P. Jepson, 88, formerly of Nashua, died Wednesday (Feb. 18, 2004) in Seminary Manor, Galesburg.
He was born July 15, 1915, in Clarksville, Iowa, the son of Iver and Vara Wamsley Jepson.
He married Myrna Scandrett on Feb. 22, 1938, in Marble Rock, Iowa.
Surviving are his wife; a daughter, Carolyn (and Lee) Smith, Galesburg; a son, Berkley Jepson, Euless, Texas; seven grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents and a brother.
He farmed in the Nashua area and was a Dairy Herd Improvement Association Agent after retiring from farming and moving to Nashua. He and his wife moved to Galesburg in 1999.
He was a member and co-founder of Nashua Bible Church and attended Bethany Alliance Church in Charles City, Iowa, and Bethel Baptist Church in Galesburg.
Funeral will be at 10:30 a.m. Saturday in United Methodist Church, Nashua, with the Rev. Kent Sovine officiating. Visitation will be from 9:30 a.m. until the service Saturday at the church. Burial will be in Oak Hill Cemetery, Nashua. Hugeback & Chenoweth Funeral Homes are in charge of arrangements.
Memorials may be made to Galesburg Area Friends of Ukraine, Box 551, Galesburg, IL 61402.

MESA, Ariz. - E. L. "Pete" Jobe, 82, formerly of Galesburg, died Sunday (Jan. 4, 2004) in Mesa.
Surviving are his wife, Joyce; a daughter, Linda Huff, Mesa; a son, Craig of Evergreen, Colo.; five grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.
He was a Navy veteran of World War II.
He retired from Burlington Northern Railroad.
He was a 32nd Degree Mason and belonged to service organizations.
Services will be Monday in Mesa.
Memorials may be made to Our Savior's Lutheran Church or any charity.

She was born Dec. 9, 1939, in Galesburg, the daughter of John D. and Frances A. Anderson Charlson.
She married Albert J. Williams Sr. in Macomb, Ill. in 1958, and later John M. Johanson on Jan. 12, 1969, in Galesburg.
Surviving are her husband John, Burlington; a son Albert (and Sherry) Williams Jr., Lewisburg, N.C.; two daughters Jacqueline (and Lawrence) Williams-Yee, Burlington and Jennifer (and Robert) Johanson-Williams, Niles, Minn.; three sisters Janice (and Eric) Johnson, Peoria, Ill., Patsy (and Larry) Smith, Galesburg and Bonnie (and David) Demick-Lampe; and nine grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by a daughter, Stephanie Marie Williams, and one brother John Thomas Charlson.
She graduated from Galesburg High School in 1957.
She worked at the Galesburg State Research Hospital and was a clerk at the Kroger Food Store in Kewanee, Ill.
She was a member of the United Food & Commercial Workers, a Lioness in Kewanee, AFS and a room mother both in Galesburg and Kewanee.
Funeral services will be at 1:30 p.m. Monday at Hinchliff-Pearson-West Chapel with the Revs. Paul Johnson and Jon Sibley officiating. Visitation will be Sunday from 5 to 7 p.m. at the chapel. Burial in East Linwood Cemeter
Memorials may be made to the charity of the donors choice.

Johnson, Harry

GALESBURG - Harry A. Johnson, 83, 795 Clark St., died at 8:45 p.m. Friday (Jan. 9, 2004) in Galesburg Cottage Hospital.
He was born Dec. 25, 1920, in Galesburg, the son of Harry A. and Emma V. Sands Johnson.
He married Katherine H. Nelson on May 5, 1946, in Galesburg.
Surviving are his wife and several nieces and nephews.
He was a 1938 graduate of Galesburg High School. He served in the Navy during World War II aboard the USS Andromeda in the European Theater. He also served in the South Pacific and Okinawa. He was a conductor on the Burlington Northern Santa Fe Railroad for 40 years, retiring in 1981.
He was a member of First Lutheran Church of Galesburg. He was also a member of AARP, the United Transportation Union, the Railroad Retirees, and Ralph M. Noble American Legion Post 285.
Graveside services will be 11 a.m. Tuesday in Oak Lawn Memorial Gardens, with the Rev. Frederick Larner officiating. Military rites will be accorded by Ralph M. Noble American Legion Post 285. Visitation will be 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. Tuesday in Hinchliff-Pearson-West Galesburg Chapel.
Memorials may be made to First Lutheran Church.

Johnson, Debbie VanNatta

ALLIANCE, Neb. - Debbie VanNatta Johnson, 45, formerly of Avon, died Thursday (Dec. 25, 2003) in Box Butt General Hospital, Alliance.
She was born Feb. 16, 1958, in Avon, the daughter of Kenneth and Joanne Gray VanNatta.
She married Tom Johnson on May 14, 1997, in Alliance.
Surviving are her husband; a daughter, Kasi (and Darren) Bentley, Monmouth; two sons, Kevin Bridgewater, Monmouth, and Robert Gerk, Alliance; her father of Avon; two sisters, Patty Deffebaugh, Alliance, and Cindy (and Terry) English, Marietta; two brothers, David (and Lisa) VanNatta, Princeville, and Kenny (and Carolyn) VanNatta, Galesburg; two stepdaughters, Debra (and Ron) Henzler, Alliance, and Linda Cole, Miami, Ariz.; a stepson, Tom (and Jennifer) Johnson Jr., Centennial, Colo.; two grandchildren; nine stepgrandchldren; five stepgreat-grandchildren; nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles and cousins. She was preceded in death by her mother.
She moved to Alliance in 1972 and worked at Good Samaritan Village.
Cremation was accorded. Services will be at 2 p.m. Jan. 11, 2004, in United Methodist Church, Avon. Burial will be in Avon Cemetery. Bates-Gould Funeral Home, Alliance, was in charge of arrangements.
Memorials may be made to any charity.
