BARDOLPH - Danny L. Johnson, 59, Bardolph, died at 8:52 a.m. Friday (Oct. 24, 2003) at home.
He was born Aug. 31, 1944 in Tulsa, Okla., the son of Heskett and Alice Nixon Johnson.
He married Susan Smith on Dec. 23, 1978, in Urbana.
Surviving are his wife; a son, John Johnson, Bardolph; two daughters, Elizabeth and Elena Johnson, both of Bardolph; his parents, Vici of Oklahoma; two brothers, Mike (and Mickey) Johnson, Decatur, and Tom (and Laverne) Johnson, Stillwater, okla.; and two sisters, Mary (and Charles) Werner, Pexton, and Sue Vitovsky, Katy, Texas.
He graduated from Canyon High School and attended West Texas State University.
He worked at Excel Corp. in Beardstown and operated Johnson's Strawberry Patch with his family in Bardolph. He also had worked as an operator of the power plant at Carle Hospital in Urbana for many years.
He attended Checkrow Community Church and was active in nursing home ministry and taught Sunday school.
Funeral will be at 11 a.m. Monday in Checkrow Community Church, with the Rev. Alan Somers officiating. Visitation will be from 3 to 5 p.m. Sunday at the church. Burial will be in Bardolph Cemetery. Martin-Hollis Funeral Home, Bushnell, is in charge of arrangements.
Memorials may be made to his church, the Billy Graham Evangelistic Association or McDonough District Hospital Hospice.

ABINGDON - Mae L. Johnson, 89, 300 N. Jefferson St., died at 7:22 p.m. Monday (Nov. 3, 2003) in Care Center of Abingdon.
She was born Jan. 22, 1914, in Roseville, the daughter of Joseph and Viola Lang Emminger.
She married Irby Johnson on Dec. 14, 1929, in Oquawka. He died April 4, 1971.
Surviving are a daughter, Della (and Larry) Ashley, Abingdon; eight grandchildren; 20 great-grandchildren; and four great-great-granddaughters. She was preceded in death by a son, a daughter, two brothers and three sisters.
She lived most of her life in Abingdon.
She worked as a sewer at Blue Bell and in the brass room at the Abingdon Pottery, and she and her husband owned Johnson Grocery in Abingdon and the Western Auto Store in Farmington. She retired in 1979.
She was a member of Abingdon Christian Church.
Funeral will be at 11 a.m. Thursday in Hinchliff-Pearson-West Abingdon Chapel, with Eleanor Landon officiating. Visitation will be from 10 to 11 a.m. Thursday at the funeral home. Burial will be in Oak Lawn Memorial Gardens.

NEW WINDSOR - Gary H. Johnson, 53, New Windsor, died Sunday (Feb. 15, 2004) at home.
He was born Sept. 15, 1950, in Galesburg, the son of Merlin and Phyllis McIntyre Johnson.
He married Rebecca L. Timmons on Jan. 15, 1984, in New Windsor.
Surviving are a daughter, Danielle Johnson, Aledo; a son, Bryson Johnson, Aledo; his parents, Merlin and Phyllis Johnson, Woodhull; a sister, Pamela (and Dennis) Sharp, Geneseo; a brother, Kent Johnson, Woodhull; a niece; and a nephew.
He graduated from AlWood High School and attended Black Hawk College, where he received an associate's degree in agriculture.
He was an Army veteran.
He worked at Gale Products Division of Outboard Marine Corp. in Galesburg, Georgia Pacific in Milan and as an equipment inspector at Warkins Export in East Moline.
He was a member of Calvary Lutheran Church, George Norris American Legion Post 484, Ducks Unlimited, Rivoli Gun Club, Henry County Farm Bureau and the International Brotherhood of Teamsters AFL-CIO.
He was secretary, past president and past vice president of the New Windsor Fair and Rodeo Association.
Funeral will be at 10:30 a.m. Thursday in Calvary Lutheran Church. Burial will be in New Windsor Cemetery, with military rites by American Legion Post 484. Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Wednesday in Peterson-Wallin-Knox Funeral Home, Alpha.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to his church and the New Windsor Fair and Rodeo Association.

BRADENTON, Fla. - Kermit Johnson, 81, Bradenton, died Jan. 29, 2004.
He was born June 29, 1922, in Schuyler County in Illinois.
Surviving are his wife of 60 years, Ruth Hanson; a daughter, Rebecca Burke, Sarasota; a son, Kent Hanson, LaSalle, Ontario; a sister, Imogene Newell, Rushville; and two granddaughters.
He graduated from Rushville High School in 1940 and from Western Illinois University and Bradley University.
He was an Army veteran of World War II.
He taught in Maquon in the 1940s. He retired as dean of Manatee Community College.
He was a member of Trinity United Methodist Church. He was elected to Outstanding Educators of America and was a member of the Association of Continuing Higher Education. He was a director of Manatee Day Care Service.
Services were in Florida. National Cremation Society, Sarasota, was in charge of arrangements.

GALESBURG - Verne L. Johnson, 82, 1760 Brown Ave., died at 8:20 a.m. Tuesday (Oct. 21, 2003) in Marigold Health Care Center.
He was born April 8, 1921, in Galesburg, the son of Emil and Anna Holstedt Johnson.
He married G. Maxine Craig on Sept. 4, 1947, in Rock Island.
Surviving are his wife; two sons, Craig L. (and Lori) Johnson, Peoria, and Gary L. (and Debbie) Johnson, Galesburg; two granddaughters; and two nieces. He was preceded in death by three brothers and two sisters.
He attended school in Oneida.
An Army veteran of World War II, he was stationed in Europe.
He lived most of his life in Galesburg.
He worked as a mechanic at Weaver-Yemm Chevrolet and was service manager at Shottenkirk Auto in Abingdon. He last worked in maintenance at OSF St. Mary Medical Center, retiring in 1982.
He was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church, Ralph M. Noble American Legion Post 285 and VFW Post 2257.
Graveside service will be at 3 p.m. Friday in Memorial Park Cemetery, with the Rev. Tom Heather officiating and military rites by American Legion Post 285. Visitation will be from 2 to 3 p.m. Friday at Hinchliff-Pearson-West Galesburg Chapel.

KIRKWOOD - Donald E. "Doc" Johnson Sr., 67, Kirkwood, died at 4 a.m. Wednesday (Dec. 24, 2003) in OSF St. Mary Medical Center, Galesburg.
He was born July 27, 1936, in Monmouth, the son of Harland and Clydie Logsdon Niece Johnson.
He married Nancy Lou Leath on April 16, 1955, in Monmouth.
Surviving are his wife; a daughter, Penny L. (and Jared) Ross, Kirkwood; two sons, Donald E. Jr. (and Julie) Johnson, Kirkwood, and Kirk D. (and Nancy) Johnson, Oquawka; three sisters, Martha Armstrong, Viola, and Joan Needham and Phyllis Johnson, both of Monmouth; four brothers, Harland (and Delores) Johnson and Tony (and Barb) Johnson, both of Monmouth, Danny (and Vicki) Johnson, Oquawka, and Brad (and Diane) Johnson, Kirkwood; 11 grandchildren and six great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents and a sister.
He was reared and educated in Monmouth.
He worked for many years first at Sea Star Boats, Glastex and Mach 1 Boats in Monmouth.
Funeral will be at 10:30 a.m. Saturday in Turnbull Funeral Home, Monmouth, with the Rev. Suzanne Geer officiating. Friends may call today and Saturday at the funeral home; family will be present from 5 to 7 p.m. today. Burial will be in Center Grove Cemetery.

BUSHNELL - Alma Lee Johnson, 75, Bushnell, died at 7:41 p.m. Saturday (July 26, 2003) in OSF St. Francis Medical Center, Peoria.
She was born Sept. 5, 1927, in Ipava, the daughter of Gail and Edith Kelly Taber.
She married Robert Heaton on Feb. 23, 1945. He died May 17, 1957. She married Harold Johnson on Dec. 27, 1958.
Surviving are her husband; two sons, Gary (and Jonalyn) Heaton, Monmouth, and Jerry (and Debbie) Heaton, Bushnell; three daughters, Sue (and Rick) Stambaugh, Ipava, Vicky (and John) Howard, New Philadelphia, and Terry (and Tom) Carley, Prairie City; three sisters, Imogene Hammond, Caroline Yazvec and Ann Wys, all of Ipava. She was preceded in death by her parents and an infant daughter.
She was a member of a breast cancer support group in Macomb, and was active in craft activities and the Spoon River Scenic Drive.
Funeral will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday in Martin-Hollis Funeral Home, with the Rev. Mary Jo Williams officiating. Friends may call after 2 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home, with visitation from 6 to 8 p.m. Burial will be in Ipava Cemetery.

MONMOUTH - Dorothy E. Johnson, 76, Monmouth, died at 6:15 a.m. Tuesday (July 29, 2003) in Rosewood Care Center, Galesburg.
She was born April 5, 1927, in Peoria County, the daughter of Harry H. and Nellie M. McCalister Johnson.
Surviving are five sisters, Hazel Utzinger, Monmouth, Mary Duyees, Farmington, Rosie Binegar, Brimfield, Ada Belle Pillman, Hanna City, and Agnes Dallesfeld, Canton; a brother, Billy Johnson, Mt. Vernon; and nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, two brothers and a sister.
She worked at the Monmouth Nursing Home for seven years and at Peoria Packinghouse and Thomas & Clark Cookie Company in Peoria. She owned a nightclub and bowling alley, and managed the Hillcrest Hotel in Milwaukee, Wis., for 35 years and the Griffen Country Hotel in Parkersburg, W.Va.
She was of Methodist faith.
Funeral will be at 1 p.m. Friday in Hoover-Hall Memorial Chapel, with the Rev. Gary Shank officiating. Friends may call Friday morning at the funeral home; family will be present two hours before the service. Burial will be in Cottonwood Cemetery near Peoria.

LONDON MILLS - John D. Johnson, 86, London Mills, died at 3:10 a.m. Tuesday (Sept. 23, 2003) in the Avon Nursing Home.
He was born Oct. 15, 1916, in London Mills, the son of Mint R. and Blanche L. Welch Johnson.
He married Jean (Georgene) Cederoth on Aug. 12, 1950, in Chicago.
Surviving are his wife; a son, Gregg (and Sheryl) Johnson, Highland; an adopted daughter, Sara McGrew, Cuba City, Wis.; three grandsons and two great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers and two sisters.
An Army veteran of World War II, he served in Europe and North Africa and received the Bronze Battle Star and Silver Star.
He owned Johnson Sales and Service, a Ford automobile business, in London Mills since 1950. He also drove grain trucks for many years and was bookkeeper and later co-owner with his brother Clyde Johnson of London Mills Farmers' Elevator.
He was a member of London Mills United Methodist Church and the London Mills American Legion.
Graveside service will be at 11:30 a.m. Friday in West Midway Cemetery near London Mills, with the Rev. John Simpson officiating. No visitation is planned. Corman Memorial Home, London Mills, is in charge of arrangements.
