LONDON MILLS - Claude H. Jones, 96, London Mills, died at 2:50 p.m. Monday (Feb. 9, 2004) in OSF St. Mary Medical Center, Galesburg.
He was born March 10, 1907, in London Mills, the son of Owen and Olive L. Robison Jones.
He married Irene Marie Bloom on June 18, 1936, in Cambridge. She died Nov. 14, 2002.
Surviving are three sons, Owen C. (and Linda) Jones, London Mills, Karl R. (and Marsha) Jones, Galesburg, and Arlan C. Jones, London Mills; a daughter, Elaine M. Jones, London Mills; four grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, a son, a sister, a grandson and a granddaughter.
He was raised and educated in London Mills and graduated from London Mills High School and Knox College.
He was an Army Air Corps veteran of World War II, stationed at March Field, Calif.
He worked at Western Electric, Chicago, before returning to London Mills, where he farmed and worked at Midland Coal Company for 43 years, retiring in 1976.
He was a member of the London Mills Masonic Lodge, Sons of the American Revolution and Mohammed Shrine in Peoria.
Graveside service will be at 11 a.m. Thursday in East Midway Cemetery, with the Rev. John Simpson officiating. No visitation is planned. Corman Memorial Home, London Mills, is in charge of arrangements.
Memorials may be made to the Muscular Dystrophy Association.
C. Findlay Jones

GALVA - C. Findlay Jones, 84, Galva, died at 3:04 a.m. Thursday (Jan. 8, 2004) in OSF St. Francis Medical Center, Peoria.
He was born Oct. 6, 1919, in Kewanee, the son of Charles W. and Isabella Findlay Jones.
He married Alva A. Elfstrom on Nov. 3, 1944, in Chicago. She died Sept. 14, 1993.
Surviving is a special friend, Ruby Ringle, Galva. He was preceded in death by his parents and a brother.
He graduated from LaFayette High School in 1938.
He was an Air Force of World War II, serving from 1941 to 1945.
He worked as a self-employed carpenter for many years in the Galva area and also worked at Houghton Lumber Comany in Galva, retiring in 1981.
He served on the Galva City Council from 1961 to 1977.
He was a member of First United Methodist Church, the Moline Consistory, the Mohammed Temple in Peoria, Galva American Legion Post 45 and Galva Masonic Lodge 243. He had been master of Stark Lodge 501, president of the NW Shrine Club and patron of OES 57 in Galva.
Funeral will be at 11 a.m. Monday in Rux Funeral Home, with the Rev. Linda Peyla officiating. Visitation will be one hour before the service Monday at the funeral home, with Masonic services at 10:45 a.m. Burial will be in Galva Cemetery, with military honors by the Galva Fusiliers.
Memorials may be made to the Galva Park District or the Galva Masonic Lodge.
Jones, Velma M.

ABINGDON - Velma M Jones, 90, a resident of the Good Samaritan Nursing Home, Knoxville, formerly of Abingdon, died at 5:15 p.m. Wednesday (Jan. 21, 2004) at the nursing home.
She was born July 6, 1913, in Burnside, the daughter of Ben and Bessie Sears Dunham.
She married Everett C. Jones on April 24, 1954, in Abingdon. He died Nov. 11, 1977.
Surviving are five grandchildren, including Duane (and Janet) Collins, Avon, and Donald (and Linda) Collins Jr., Sciota; a daughter-in-law, Maxine Collins, Abingdon; a stepdaughter, Betty (and Bob) Smith, Pekin; three stepgrandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; 15 stepgreat-grandchildren; eight great-great-grandchildren and 20 stepgreat-great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, a son, Donald Collins Sr., a sister and a great-granddaughter.
She was a homemaker and had worked in the kitchen at the former Custer Hotel in Galesburg.
Funeral will be at 11 a.m. Saturday in Hinchliff-Pearson-West Abingdon Chapel, with the Rev. Ed Wislander officiating. Friends may call one hour before the service Saturday at the funeral home. Burial will be in Abingdon Cemetery.

GALESBURG - Ruby J. Jones, 89, 934 Parkview Road, died at 7:50 p.m. Saturday (Jan. 31, 2004) in Marigold Health Care Center.
She was born June 10, 1914, in Abingdon, the daughter of James and Easter Taylor Courson.
She married James Daly. He died in 1935. She married Victor Jones. He died June 25, 1975.
Surviving are two sisters, Velma McGill, Azusa, Calif., and Winnogene Trachsel, Abingdon; five grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; 21 great-great-grandchildren; and Iona Milligan, a friend and caregiver who lived with her. She was preceded in death by a son, Virgil Daly, two brothers, a sister, a great-grandchild and her parents.
She had worked as an assembler at Admiral/ Maytag Co.
She was a member of First Church of the Open Bible.
Graveside service will be at 10 a.m. Thursday in Memorial Park Cemetery, with the Rev. Ted Gillum officiating. No visitation is planned. Hinchliff-Pearson-West Galesburg Chapel is in charge of arrangements.
Memorials may be made to her church.

PEORIA - Pearl J. Jones, 80, Peoria, died at 3:40 p.m. Thursday (Aug. 5, 2004) in Saint Clare House, Peoria Heights.
She was born Aug. 14, 1923, in Warren County, the daughter of Maxwell and Lilly Kirgan Coupland.
She married Harry B. Jones on Oct. 25, 1941, in Missouri. He preceded her in death.
Surviving are one daughter, Loretta (and George) Hall, Peoria; one sister, Maxine McGhee, Avon; and two grandchildren. She was preceded in death by one son, Larry, 10 brothers and five sisters.
She had lived in Elmwood for many years, moving to Fort Myers, Fla., for 15 years. She had lived in Peoria since 1998.
She retired from Caterpillar Inc. in 1980.
She was a member of Northwest Baptist Church, Peoria, and the Elmwood VFW Auxiliary Post 4724.
Funeral will be at 2 p.m. Saturday at Patterson Funeral Home, with the Rev. Richard Springsteen officiating. Visitation will be one hour before the service Saturday at the funeral home. Burial will be in Elmwood Cemetery.
Memorials may be made to Northwest Baptist Church, Peoria, or the Peoria Rescue Mission.

GALESBURG - Danny Lee Joseph, 56, 1184 S. Cedar St., died at 2:50 a.m. Tuesday (July 29, 2003) at home.
He was born April 13, 1947, in Galesburg, the son of Anthony Nick and Edith F. Frymire Joseph.
He married Jackie Asher in 1967 in Missouri. He married Chris Kilgore in 1973 in Galesburg. He married Jan Mendenhall in 1988 in Galesburg.
Surviving are his mother of Galesburg; three sons, Danny Jr. and Jeff, both of Galesburg, and Rodney of Ocala, Fla.; one daughter, Dawn of Knoxville; a stepdaughter, Dusty of Peoria; five brothers, Donald (and JuDee), Mike, Joe (and Debbie), Gary and Phillip (and Karen), all of Galesburg; three sisters, Carol (and Gary) Denniston and Janet (and Doug) Hall, both of Galesburg, and Mary (and Jerry) Montgomery, Marble Falls, Texas; 16 grandchildren, and nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews. He was preceded in death by his father and two brothers.
He was an Army veteran of the Vietnam War.
He worked as a roofer at Dower's Roofing for many years and also had worked at Rowe Manufacturing and Maytag.
He was a member of St. Patrick's Catholic Church.
Graveside service will be at 2:30 p.m. Friday in St. Joseph Cemetery, with the Rev. Joseph Presley officiating and military rites by Ralph M. Noble American Legion Post 285. Visitation will be from 1 to 2 p.m. Friday at Hinchliff-Pearson-West Galesburg Chapel.
Memorials may be made to the family.
Kachle, Lucy M.

NAUVOO - Lucy Marie Kachle, 80, Nauvoo, died at 9:25 p.m. Saturday (Nov. 1, 2003) at the Monmouth Nursing Home, Monmouth.
She was born March 17, 1923, in Nauvoo, the daughter of James F. and Laura Scott Hager.
She married Bud Kachle on Dec. 12, 1943, in Norfork, Va.
Surviving are several nieces and nephews including, Cindy Hager, Warsaw, Mo., Kathy Heatherly, Eddie Hager, Laura Hager, Nina Hager, Barb Piper, Joe Hager and Marketa Ketenbrink, all of Monmouth, Artie Hager, Little York, and Candi Enwright, Macomb. She was preceded in death by her parents, and brothers and sisters.
She was reared and educated in Nauvoo.
She was a packer at the Nauvoo Blue Cheese Factory for several years, and also cooked at the Nauvoo Elementary School and the Hotel Nauvoo.
She was a member of the Saints Peter and Paul Catholic Church in Nauvoo.
Graveside services will be at 2 p.m. Friday in Saints Peter and Paul Catholic Cemetery, with the Rev. Luke Spannagel officiating. Cremation has been accorded and there will be no visiting hours. Hoover-Hall Memorial Chapel, Monmouth, is in charge of arrangements.
Memorials may be made to the Monmouth Nursing Home.
