BURSCOUGH, England - Terence Kermode, 69, died Monday (Sept. 22, 2003) at home.
He was born Dec. 4, 1933, in Douglas, Isle of Man, the son of Henry Sayle and Margaret Shimmin Kermode.
He married Rita Bellis on Dec. 27, 1958, in Liverpool, England.
Surviving are his wife; two daughters, Jane (and Melvyn) Singleton, Burscough, England, and Victoria (and David) Barber, Creswell, England; a son, Gary (and Cynthia) Kermode, Galesburg; and two grandchildren.
He was raised and educated in Douglas, Isle of Man.
He was a British Army Veteran, having served in Cyprus and Germany.
He worked most of his life as a builder, and lived in Burscough since 1972.
He was a member of the St. John's Church of England in Burscough.
Services are pending in England.

Kessinger, Evelyn L.
October 6, 2003
ALPHA - Evelyn L. Kessinger, 66, Alpha, died Saturday (Oct. 4, 2003), at her home.
She was born Nov. 14, 1936, in Smithshire, the daughter of Riley and Leona Hodges Talbott.
She married Robert L. Kessinger on Oct. 3, 1955, in Little York. He died in 1998.
Surviving are four sons, John (and Julie) Kessinger, Polo, Joe (and Dawn) Kessinger, Woodhull, Jeff (and Andrea) Kessinger, Alpha, and Jim (and Rachael) Kessinger, Cambridge; one sister, Marilyn Talbott, Sacramento, Calif.; three brothers, Howard Talbott, New Boston, Leland "Whitey" Talbott, Monmouth, and Dean Talbott, Cambridge; and nine grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents and one brother.
She received her education from the Little York area schools.
She and her husband owned and operated Kessinger's Upholstery Shop in Alpha for 28 years.
She was an active member of the Maranantha Chapel, Alpha.
Funeral will be at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at the Maranantha Chapel in Alpha, with the Rev. T.J. Stauffer officiating. Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. today at the Peterson Wallin Knox Funeral Home in Alpha. Burial will be in the Alpha Cemetery.
Memorials may be made to the Maranantha Chapel or to Pathway Hospice.

Richard E. Kiernan
October 28, 2003
SUN CITY, Ariz. - Richard E. Kiernan, 76, Sun City, died Oct. 10, 2003, in Sun City.
He was born Jan. 1, 1927, in Galesburg, the son of Eugene R. and Bertina Bowles Kiernan.
He married Aldine Nee on June 19, 1948, in Galesburg. She preceded him in death.
Surviving are two sons, Danny Kiernan, Hazelwood, Mo., and Patrick Kiernan, El Monte, Calif.; two daughters, Katherine Settles, St. Charles, Mo., and Teri Alderman, Euless, Texas; five grandchildren and a great-granddaughter. He was preceded in death by a son, Kevin Kiernan.
He graduated from Galesburg High School in 1934.
He owned and operated an airport and flying school in the old St. Louis airport.
Cremation was accorded. Funeral was in Sun City West. Burial will be later in St. Charles, Mo.
Memorials may be made to any charity.

Kilgore, Clarence

GALESBURG - Clarence Kilgore, 79, 1372 Willard St., died at 7:40 a.m. today (Sept. 8, 2003) at home.
Hinchliff-Pearson-West Galesburg Chapel is in charge of arrangements.

Kilpatrick, Lyle V.

SEARCY, Ark. - Lyle V. Kilpatrick, 91, Searcy, formerly of Galesburg, Ill., died at 7:05 p.m. Friday (Dec. 19, 2003) in White County Medical Center in Searcy.
He was born Oct. 18, 1912, in Abingdon, Ill., the son of Charles H. and Jeanette Woodworth Kilpatrick.
He married Frances Boone on April 17, 1934, in Danville, Va. She died Dec. 13, 1977. He married Helen K. Miles on Oct. 8, 1978, in Woodhull, Ill.
Surviving are his wife; two sons, Jay L. Kilpatrick, Searcy, and James B. Kilpatrick, McKinney, Texas; eight grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by a son, Lewis Eugene Kilpatrick, in 1987, and two sisters.
He was a 1930 graduate of Abingdon High School, Abingdon.
He was an electronic engineer for the Federal Aviation Agency for 31 years, retiring in 1973.
He was a member of Clover Chapel United Methodist Church near Woodhull and a member of the Galva Lions Club, Galva, Ill.
Cremation will be accorded, with a private graveside service at a later date in Abingdon Cemetery, Abingdon. There will be no visitation. Memorials may be made to the American Lung Association. Hinchliff-Pearson-West Galesburg Chapel in charge of arrangements.

Kimbrough, LeRoy R.

PORTLAND, Ore. - LeRoy R. Kimbrough, 55, Portland, Ore., formerly of Galesburg, died Dec. 9, 2003, in the VA Hospital in Portland.
He was born April 15, 1948, in Galesburg, the son of Frank and Hazel Gullick Kimbrough.
Surviving are his mother, Hazel Kimbrough, Galesburg; his companion Blondena Holmes, Portland, Ore.; two sons, Demond Hart, Portland, Ore., and Lee Donaldson, Seattle, Wash.; four daughters, Donya Randolph, Fort Worth, Texas, La'Nora Kimbrough and Loretta Kimbrough, both of Portland, Ore., and Lakesha Donaldson, Seattle, Wash.; five brothers, William Goodlow and Cleatis Goodlow, both of Portland, Ore., and Eugene H. Goodlow, James Kimbrough and Charles Kimbrough, all of Galesburg; three sisters, Mary Jean Goodlow, Sheila (and David) Taylor and Debbie Kimbrough, all of Galesburg; and eight grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his father and two sisters.
He graduated from Galesburg High School in 1965.
He served in the U.S. Navy from 1965 to 1969 during Vietnam. He received the National Service Defense Medal, the Navy Unit Accomodation Affair, the Republic of Vietnam Campaign Medal and the Vietnam Service Medal.
He was the owner and operator of a moving business for 10 years.
He lived in Galesburg until moving to Portland in 1970.
Funeral will be at 10 a.m. Monday at Hinchliff-Pearson-West Galesburg Chapel, with the Rev. Jon Sibley officiating There will be no visitation. Burial will be in East Linwood Cemetery with military honors conducted by Ralph M. Noble American Legion Post 285.
Memorials may be made to the family.

WILLIAMSFIELD - Shirley L. Kimler, 69, Byron, Ga., formerly of Galesburg and Williamsfield, died at 4:49 a.m. Friday (Oct. 10, 2003) in Peachbelt Nursing Home, Byron.

King, Dorothy B.

DAHINDA - Dorothy Belle King, 91, formerly of rural Dahinda, died at 10:05 p.m. Monday (Jan. 19, 2004) in Marigold Health Care Center, Galesburg, of natural causes.
She was born March 14, 1912, in Des Moines, Iowa.
She was preceded in death by her parents and a half-brother, John N. Allison Jr.
She had worked at Boss Manufacturing Company in Kewanee.
Graveside service will be at 1:30 p.m. Monday in Trenton Cemetery near Dahinda, with the Rev. Randy Douglass officiating. Visitation will be from noon to 1 p.m. Monday at Hurd-Hendricks Funeral Home, Knoxville.

King, Emma M.
September 29, 2003
GALVA - Emma M. King, 88, Galva, formerly of Toulon, died at 10:50 p.m. Saturday (Sept. 27, 2003) in OSF St. Francis Medical Center, Peoria.
She was born Jan. 22, 1915, in Appleton, the daughter of Bertus and Constance Rosine Wagher.
She married Thomas C. King Jr. on Feb. 7, 1936, in Peoria. He died August 21, 1991.
Surviving are a daughter, Sherry (and James) Wrigley, Galva; a granddaughter, Christine A. Wrigley, Galva; and two great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, a son, Jerold Thomas, a granddaughter, nine brothers and two sisters.
She was a homemaker.
She was a member of First Congregational Church, Toulon.
Funeral will be at 3 p.m. Wednesday in DeBolt-Kidd Funeral Home, Toulon, with the Rev. Wayne McLeod officiating. Visitation will be from 1 p.m. Wednesday until the service. Burial will be in Toulon Cemetery.
Memorials may be made to the Galva Senior Center or her church.

Kirman, Rodney R.
October 15, 2003
GALESBURG - Rodney R. Kirman, 69, 1030 Island Lane, Lake Bracken, died at 9:06 a.m. Tuesday (Oct. 14, 2003), in Galesburg Cottage Hospital.
He was born Aug. 24, 1934, in Kewanee, the son of Everett and Helen Ouart Kirman.
He married Jo Ann Lantz McLaughlin on July 20, 1971, in Peoria.
Surviving are his wife; a son, Chuck (and Deb) McLaughlin, Alpha; four daughters, Marcia (and Randy) Cowser, Carterville, Janice (and Steve) Edmund, Rock Falls, Beverly (and Jeff) Brown, Vincennes, Ind., and Darcy (and Scott) Swigart, Missouri Valley, Iowa; two brothers, Jerry (and Bonnie) Kirman, Peoria, and Richard Kirman, Chillicothe; and 10 grandchildren. He was preceded in death by a sister.
He graduated from Wethersfield High School in Kewanee in 1952 and attended Western Illinois University.
An Army veteran, he served from 1957 to 1959 in Fort Huachuca, Ariz.
He sold real estate at Tucker Swanson Real Estate and was a salesman at Paintcraft and Wilson Paper Company.
He was a member and had been a board member of Lake Bracken Country Club, was a former member of AMBUCS and the Galesburg Chamber of Commerce, and was a member of Ralph M. Noble American Legion Post 285 and Elks Lodge 894. He was a former member of the Galesburg Jaycees, serving as president from 1965 to 1966, and he also served in state offices.
Services will be at 11:30 a.m. Friday in Hinchliff-Pearson-West Galesburg Chapel, with the Rev. Thomas Heather officiating. Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home. Private family burial will be later.
Memorials may be made to the family for distribution to charitable organizations.

Klingman, Creston S.

WACO, Texas - Creston S. Klingman, 88, Waco, formerly of Galesburg, died Sunday (Dec. 21, 2003) in Waco.
He was born Dec. 7, 1915, in Wichita, Kan.
He married Doris L. Bloomenshine on May 18, 1939.
Surviving are a son, Berry J. (and Mary Lynn) Klingman, Waco; a sister, Miriam Joyce (and Donovan) Moore, Wichita; three grandchildren; and two great-grandsons.
He was raised and educated in Wichita.
He graduated from York College in York, Neb., and did graduate work at the University of Michigan and the University of Kansas.
He served in the Navy in Washington, D.C., during World War II, directing the Navy Glee Club.
He taught music and directed band and orchestra at Southwestern College in Winnfield, Kan., taught music and directed the choir at Knox College for 30 years, and directed Galesburg Community Chorus and church choirs at First Baptist and First Presbyterian in Galesburg. He continued teaching voice and piano at Knox College until 2001.
He moved to Waco in 2002 and was a member of First Presbyterian Church.
Services will be at 1:30 p.m. Tuesday in First Presbyterian Church, Waco, with the Rev. Dr. Jimmie Johnson officiating. A memorial service will be later in Galesburg. Wilkirson-Hatch-Bailey Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
Memorials may be made to the Thomas W. Williams and Creston S. Klingman Scholarship Fund at Knox College or to the Knox College Memorial Book Fund.

Connie S. Kniss
January 13, 2004
CHEYENNE, Wyo. - Connie Sue Kniss, 72, Cheyenne, formerly of Knoxville, died Dec. 26, 2003, in Los Alamos Medical Center, Los Alamos, N.M.
She was born June 30, 1931, in Dexsler, Neb.
Surviving are her husband, Paul Kniss, Cheyenne; two sons, Jon Randolph Kniss, Los Angeles, and Brett Richard Kniss, Los Alamos; a brother, Terry Happel of Arizona; a sister, Jonlyn Happel, Park City, Utah; and two grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, John and Susan Happel.
She worked as a stewardess for United Airlines, Jackson Hole Aviation and Teton Aviation Center in Driggs, Idaho. She retired in 1988 and moved with her husband to Cheyenne.
She was a member of the preservation board for the Governor's Mansion, Quester's Club and the hospital auxiliary, and volunteered on the mission committee of First United Methodist Church.
Memorials may be made to the Connie Kniss Children's Fund, c/o First United Methodist Church, Cheyenne, WY.
