ABINGDON - Victor N. Links, 70, 135 Knox Highway 8, St. Augustine, died at 10:20 am Friday, (Nov. 14, 2003) in OSF St. Mary Medical Center.
He was born July 2, 1933, in Galesburg to Victor and Selma McLaughlin Links. He married Velma L. Smith on Oct. 9, 1953. in Abingdon. She preceded him in death on May 26, 1966. He married Sarah E. Kennedy on June 26, 1970, in Rock Island. She survives.
Also surviving are two sons, Kirt (and Sandy) Links, Abingdon, and Patrick E. Links, Normal; one sister, Shirley Asencio, Galesburg; two brothers, Donald Lee (and Bev) Links, Decatur, and Robert E. Links, Houma, La.; four grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
He was also preceded in death by his parents.
He graduated from Abingdon High School in 1951.
He was a Navy veteran of the Korean War, serving from 1951 until 1955. He was a member of the Harry E. Wiles American Legion Post 381.
He was a supervisor at the former Gales Products Division of Outboard Marine Corp. in Galesburg for 27 years. He later worked as an engineer for the Hughes Space and Communications in Huntsville, Ala., retiring in 1996.
Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. Monday in Hinchliff-Pearson-West Chapel in Abingdon. A funeral mass will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday in Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Abingdon, with the Rev. Ernest Pizzamiglio officiating. Cremation will follow the service. Burial of cremains will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday in Abingdon Cemetery, with military rites by American Legion Post 381.
Memorials may be made to the Abingdon Athletic Booster Club.

Litton, Janice E.
August 7, 2004
WOODHULL - Janice E. Litton, 63, Woodhull, died Thursday (Aug. 5, 2004) in her home.
She was born April 1, 1941, in Kewanee, the daughter of Carl and Mildred Pierson Johnson.
She married Donald K. Litton on March 10, 1962, in Bishop Hill.
Surviving are her husband; three sons, Kevin (and Elaine) Litton, Phoenix, and Brad (and Toni) Litton and Brent (and Angie) Litton, both of Woodhull; her father, Carl S. Johnson, Knoxville; a sister, Carol Kenney, Bishop Hill; two brothers, Blaine Johnson, California, and Wayne Johnson, Alpha; and five grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her mother.
She graduated from Galva High School.
She was a homemaker and assisted her husband as bookkeeper on the family farm.
She was a member of Woodhull Baseball Association, where she served as treasurer for many years; and was a former member of the Bishop Hill United Methodist Church.
Funeral will be at 1:30 p.m. Monday in Bethany Lutheran Church, Woodhull, with the Rev. Nancy Jaster officiating. Visitation will be from 2 to 4 p.m. and 6 to 8 p.m. Sunday in Peterson-Wallin-Knox Funeral Home in Woodhull. Burial will be in Woodhull Cemetery.
Memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society or the Woodhull Baseball Association.

Litvin, Dena
December 28, 2003
GALESBURG - Dena Litvin, 92, 144 Sumner St., died at 1 p.m. Nov. 23, 2003, in Cedars Sinai Medical Center, Los Angeles.
She was born July 7, 1911, in Burlington, Iowa, the daughter of Samuel and Minnie Chapman Zeldes.
She married Ben C. Litvin on Sept. 10, 1941, in Peoria. He died June 13, 1990.
Surviving are two sons, Ronald L. (and Lori) Litvin, San Rafael, Calif., and David S. Litvin, Galesburg; two sisters, Joyce (and Jerrold) Rotwein, Beverly Hills, Calif., and Kay Brotman, Canoga Park, Calif.; one brother, Jerome A. Zeldes, Encino, Calif.; two grandchildren and one great-grandchild. She was preceded in death by three sisters and one brother.
She graduated from Galesburg High School in 1928.
She worked in downtown Galesburg department stores in the 1920s and 1930s. She joined her husband in working at Checker Auto Parts on West Main Street until they retired in 1968.
She was a member of the National Council of Jewish Women, Lake Bracken, Secret Pal Club and Order of the Eastern Star; and was a founding member of Temple Sholom.
Funeral was Nov. 26 at Eden Memorial Park, Mission Hills, Calif., with Rabbi Mendel Schwartz officiating. Chevra Kadisha Mortuary was in charge of arrangements.
Memorials may be made to Temple Sholom or to a charity of the donor's choice.

Lock, J. Hobart Jr.
December 22, 2003
AVON - J. Hobart Lock Jr., 86, 1790 23rd Ave., died at 1:18 a.m. Sunday (Dec. 21, 2003) in the Avon Nursing Home.
He was born Nov. 19, 1917, in Canton, the son of J. Hobart Sr. and Ethel Gray Lock.
He married Marian R. Taylor on Nov. 29, 1943, in Canton. She died Dec. 11, 1998.
Surviving are two sons, Terry Dean (and Cherie) Lock, Lincoln, and James Taylor (and Sally) Lock, Avon; a daughter, Carolyn Jane (and Don) Moffitt, Knoxville; two brothers, Kenneth Lock and Dean Lock, both of Avon; 10 grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents and a brother.
He was raised in Joshua Township, moved to rural Avon in 1938 and graduated from Fairview schools.
An Army veteran of World War II, he served with the 104th Division in Europe.
He farmed from 1946 to 1984.
He was a member of the Presbyterian Church in Prairie City, where he was an elder and Sunday school teacher; was a director of the Fulton County Farm Bureau board; and was treasurer of the Fulton County F.S. board.
Funeral will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday in Prairie City Presbyterian Church, with the Rev. Kurt Ayers officiating. Friends may call Tuesday afternoon and evening at Corman Memorial Home; family will be present one hour before the service Wednesday at the church. Burial will be in Avon Cemetery.
Memorials may be made his church, the Avon Nursing Home or the Parkinson's Research Foundation.

Locke, Wavord
October 16, 2003
NEW WINDSOR - Wavord "Bill" Locke, 89, New Windsor, formerly of Woodhull, died at 5:10 p.m. Tuesday (Oct. 14, 2003) in Pilgrim Nursing Home, Plymouth, Ind.
He was born June 20, 1914, in Alexis, the son of William S. and Margaret C. Shroder Locke.
He married Mary H. Windon in 1935, in Galesburg. He married Ethel Likely in 1955. She died March 25, 2002.
Surviving are two sons, Robert Locke, Monmouth, and William S. Locke, Plymouth, Ind.; two stepdaughters, Betty Forsyth, Milan, and Joan (and Don) Anderson, North Henderson; seven grandchildren; seven stepgrandchildren; and great-grandchildren, stepgreat-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, a daughter, Mary Locke, a brother and two sisters.
He was reared and educated in Alexis.
He worked at Admiral in Galesburg, retiring in 1976.
Funeral will be at 11 a.m. Saturday in Hoover-Hall Memorial Chapel, Alexis, with the Rev. James Epperson officiating. Friends may call Saturday at the funeral home; family will be present from 10 to 11 a.m. Burial will be in Alexis Cemetery.
A memorial fund has been established and will be designated later.

Logan, Linda M.

TIMBERLAKE, N.C. - Linda Marie Logan, 60, Timberlake, N.C., formerly of Biggsville, died Wednesday (Sept. 23, 2003) at Durham Regional Hospital, Durham.
She was born July 15, 1943, in Monmouth, Ill., the daughter of William Boyd and Verna Millen Stevenson.
Surviving are three sons, Jeff (and Kendra) Logan, Urbandale, Iowa, Bruce (and Barb) Logan, Norwalk, Iowa, and Matthew (and Lori) Logan, Nashville; one brother, Gary (and Carol) Stevenson, Biggsville, Ill.; one sister, Diane (and John) Graber, Woodford, Va.; and five grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents.
She was reared and educated in Biggsville, Ill., and attended local schools; and attended and graduated from the University of Iowa, Iowa City, Iowa.
She was a contractor/consultant for the Journal of Marketing and Research in Durham; and also was a potter and artist.
Graveside service will be at 1 p.m. Monday at South Henderson Cemetery, with the Rev. Richard Johnson officiating. Friends may call Monday at Turnbull Funeral Home, Biggsville, Ill.; family will be present from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m.
A memorial fund is being established by her family.

Loomis, Elizabeth L.

MONMOUTH - Elizabeth Louise "Betty Lou" Loomis, 72, Monmouth, died at 10 p.m. Sunday (April 25, 2004) at home.
She was born July 15, 1931, in Alta, Iowa, the daughter of Louie and Rachael (Olson) Olsen.
She married Forrest Loomis on June 7, 1953, in Alta, Iowa.
Surviving are a son, Scott (and Kelly) Loomis, Ohio, Ill.; a daughter, Diane (and Tim) McKillip, Ballwin, Mo.; a brother, Virgil (and Nora) Olsen, Emeryville, Calif.; two grandchildren; two stepgrandchildren; three stepgreat-grandchildren; a niece and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents and stepfather, Ernie Vieregge.
She was reared and educated in Alta and received a teaching certificate from State Teacher's College in Cedar Falls, Iowa.
She was assistant director and acquisitions librarian at the Warren County Library since 1974. She also taught at Warren Achievement School in Monmouth and had been a kindergarten teacher in Ankeny, Iowa.
She was a member of First United Methodist Church and taught Sunday school for many years. She was den mother for her son's Cub Scout Pack.
Funeral will be at 10 a.m. Friday in First United Methodist Church, with the Rev. Dr. Donald Jackson officiating. Friends may call after noon Thursday at Hoover-Hall Memorial Chapel; family will be present from 5 to 8 p.m. Burial will be in Warren County Memorial Park Cemetery.
Memorials may be made to the Warren County Library.

Nelle E. Louthan

RINGLING, Okla. Ð Nelle Elizabeth Louthan, 87, of Ringling, Okla., formerly of Galesburg, died Friday (April 30, 2004) at home.
She was born July 24, 1916, in Union Township, Ill., the daughter of Charles Decatur and Lucy Irena Condreay Oatman.
She married Flavious Cecil Curry in 1931. He died in 1938. She then married Roy Albert Louthan on Jan. 8, 1940, in Kahoka, Mo. He died June 30, 2003.
Surviving are two sons, Flavious Earl Curry, Greenville, S.C., and Lawrence "Douglas" Curry, Cameron; three daughters, Elaine Rogers, Hurricane, Utah, Joyce Brunson, Ringling, Okla., and Debi Dreyer, Marshall, Wis.; 25 grandchildren; 50 great-grandchildren; and nine great-great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by a son, Donald Curry; a daughter, Marjorie Elizabeth Bowman; a brother; and a sister.
She was a homemaker who had lived in Galesburg for many years, until moving to Ringling in 1998.
She was a member of First Church of God, Galesburg. She was also a member of the Royal Neighbors and Modern Woodmen of America.
Graveside services will be 11 a.m. Tuesday in Oak Lawn Memorial Gardens. Visitation will be 6:30 to 8 p.m. Monday at Hinchliff-Pearson-West Galesburg Chapel.

Lovitt, Adelaide C.

GALESBURG - Adelaide C. Lovitt, 90, 435 Oakwood Drive, died at 7:17 p.m. Saturday (Nov. 8, 2003) in OSF St. Mary Medical Center.
She was born June 21, 1913, in Hoyleton, the daughter of Edward and Annie Heseman Rixman.
She married Kenneth Windisch in Geneseo. He died in August 1960. She married Ernest P. Lovitt in 1977 in Rock Island. He died Jan. 30, 1997.
Surviving are a son-in-law, Blair Johnston, Evanston, three grandchildren and six great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, a daughter, Kenlyn Jean Windisch Johnston, four brothers and two sisters.
She graduated from Centralia High School.
She worked as a manager at the former Gerwig Dress and Bridal Store in Galesburg for more than 20 years, retiring in 1977.
She was a member of Abingdon Christian Church.
Private services will be Friday in Oakwood Cemetery, Geneseo, with the Rev. Raymond McLaren officiating. No visitation is planned. Hinchliff-Pearson-West Galesburg Chapel is in charge of arrangements.

Albert P. Loy

GALESBURG - Albert P. "Jack" Loy, 79, a resident of Marigold Health Care Center, died there at 1:34 a.m. Monday (April 5, 2004) of natural causes.
He was born Sept. 5, 1924, in Lyon County, Kan., the son of Jesse and Jennie Adkins Loy.
He married Margaret Parton on March 17, 1967, in Knoxville.
Surviving are his wife; two daughters, Linda Quinn, Galesburg, and Shawna Jean Loy of California; a son, John Edward Loy; six grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, a stepson, Steven Keith Bailey, six brothers and two sisters.
He was reared and educated in Knoxville.
He was an Army veteran.
He lived all his life in Knoxville before moving to Galesburg in 2000.
He worked as a press operator at Gates Rubber Company for more than 20 years, retiring in 1990.
He was a member of Knoxville Presbyterian Church and VFW Post 2257 and Moose Lodge 880 in Galesburg.
Funeral will be at 2 p.m. Thursday in Hurd-Hendricks Funeral Home, Knoxville, with the Rev. Milton Marquith officiating. Visitation will be from 1 p.m. until the service Thursday at the funeral home. Burial will be in Oak Lawn Memorial Gardens, with military honors by Ralph M. Noble American Legion Post 285.
Memorials may be made to the family.

Luallen, Christina H.

ALPHA - Christina Hernstrom Luallen, 85, Alpha, died Saturday (Nov. 15, 2003) at the Mercer County Nursing Home, Aledo.
She was born April 27, 1918, in Canton Township,the daughter of Anton and Draga Fransiscovich Padavich.
She married Stanley Hernstrom on Oct. 8, 1945. He died Feb. 11, 1960. She later married Ray Luallen on March 5, 1963. He died Feb. 11, 1978.
Surviving are two daughters, Susan (and Chuck) Paul, Alpha, and Kathleen (and Dan) Cowser, Loudon, Tenn.; one son, Conrad (and Vicki) Hernstrom, Conyers, Ga.; two stepdaughters, Bernice (and Arland) Asplund, Davenport, Iowa, and Marjorie (and Ed) O'Dell, Moline; two stepsons, Willis Luallen, Woodhull, and Don Luallen, Indianapolis, Ind.; one brother, Milo (and Joan) Padavich, Geneseo; 12 grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; several stepgrandchildren; and nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, a sister and two brothers.
She graduated from Alpha High School.
She was employed at the Rock Island Arsenal during World War II and later worked in Alpha at the former Krueger Electric, Johnson Lumber Company and Johnston's Brown Lynch Scott store. She retired from Admiral Manufacturing in Galesburg in 1980.
She was a member of St. John's Catholic Church and its Altar and Rosary Society; a charter member of the Oxford American Legion Auxiliary Post 1197; a former member of Henry County Home Extension; a former 4-H leader; and a volunteer for Mobile Meals in Alpha.
Funeral will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday at St. John's Catholic Church, Woodhull, with the Rev. Eugene Radosevich officiating. Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. at Peterson Wallin Knox Funeral Home in Alpha, where a Rosary will be recited at 5 p.m. Burial will be in the Alpha Cemetery.
Memorials may be made to the Oxford American Legion Auxiliary Post 1197 or St. John's Catholic Church in Woodhull.

Luallen, Margaret A.

KNOXVILLE - Margaret A. Luallen, 88, a resident of the Good Samaritan Nursing Home, Knoxville, died there at 10:50 a.m. Tuesday (Feb. 24, 2004).
She was born Dec. 13, 1915, in Raglesville, Ind., the daughter of Sherman and Iva Bruner Stuckey.
She married Ira D. Luallen on March 6, 1934, in Washington, Ind. He died Sept. 24, 1996.
Surviving are five sons, Robert Luallen, Moreno Valley, Calif., Jerry (and Peggy) Luallen, Rockford, Ronald (and Linda) Luallen, Valencia, Calif., Dale (and Frankie) Luallen, Knoxville, and Dean (and Ella) Luallen, Ottawa; one daughter, Kay (and Edward) Clark, Leesburg, Texas; three brothers, Jack (and Jean) Stuckey, Loogootee, Ind., Sherman (and Florence) Stuckey, Huntingburg, Ind., and Robert (and Jean) Stuckey, Evansville, Ind.; one sister, Mary (and Allen) Lamar, Loogootee, Ind.; 11 grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents.
She was a homemaker.
She was a member of Jehovah Witness since 1960.
A memorial service will be at 2 p.m. Saturday at the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah's Witness in Galesburg, with Adrian Dillin officiating. Cremation Society of Mid-Illinois, Peoria, is in charge of arrangements.

Lucas, Essie E.

ALEDO - Essie E. Lucas, 90, Aledo, died Thursday (Dec. 25, 2003) in the Mercer County Nursing Home.
She was born Sept. 16, 1913, in Rock Island County, the daughter of Thomas and Alma Ericksen Curry.
She married Scott S. Lucas on May 4, 1935, in Peoria. He died in 1984.
Surviving are a daughter, Janet (and Thomas) Harris, Matherville; a son, Vern Dale "Oscar" (and Jean) Lucas, Aledo; a daughter-in-law, Mary Lucas, Aledo; eight grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, a son, William, a sister and four brothers.
She attended Curry School near Taylor Ridge.
She was a homemaker and farmed her husband near Preemption. She retired and moved to Aledo in 1979.
She was a member of St. Catherine's Catholic Church in Aledo, St. Anthony's Catholic Church in Matherville, the Columbian Club and the Mercer County Senior Citizens Center.
Funeral will be at 10:30 a.m. Saturday in St. Anthony's Catholic Church, where visitation will be one hour before services Saturday. Burial will be in St. John's Cemetery, Viola. Fippinger Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
Memorials may be made to St. Anthony's Catholic Church or St. Catherine's Catholic Church.

Lundeen, Frances L.
December 23, 2003
GALESBURG - Frances L. Lundeen, 89, Galesburg, died at 3:55 p.m. Monday (Dec. 22, 2003) in Rosewood Care Center.
She was born July 23, 1914, near Alexis, the daughter of Albert and Cora Wade Martinson.
She married Gunard Lundeen on July 19, 1934, in Valparaiso, Ind. He died Feb. 27, 1991.
Surviving are a son, Gary (and Bea) Lundeen, Wataga; two daughters, Marilyn (and Charlie) Peterson, Gravois Mills, Mo, and Sharon (and Jeff) Coe, Galesburg; a sister, Gertrude Timmons, Galesburg; eight grandchildren and three great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by a brother and a sister.
She worked at the Galesburg Mental Health Center for seven years and was a CAN at Americana Nursing Home for five years, retiring in 1978. She also farmed with her husband in the North Henderson and Woodhull areas.
She was a member of Zion Lutheran Church in North Henderson and a former member of the Henderson Grove Grange, the Lutheran Church Women and the Good Time Club.
Funeral will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday in Hinchliff-Pearson-West Galesburg Chapel, with the Rev. John Carlson officiating. Visitation will be from 10 to 11 a.m. Wednesday at the funeral home. Burial will be in Oak Lawn Memorial Gardens.
Memorials may be made to her church or the Galesburg Rescue Mission and Women's Shelter.
