GALESBURG - Marie Kelly Nye, 84, 1638 Willard St., died at 8:50 a.m. Friday (July 30, 2004), in her home.
She was born Jan. 23, 1920, in Fort Madison, Iowa, the daughter of Raymond Charles and Katherine Doerr Kelly.
She married Edmund C. Risdon in 1939, in Detroit, Mich. She later married Harry Gale Nye Jr on Dec. 9, 1949, in Coral Gables, Fla. He preceded her in death.
Surviving are three sons, Edmund Charles Risdon, Birmingam, Mich., Harry G. Nye III, Albuquerque, N.M., and Charles Kelly Nye, Galesburg; and two grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents and one brother.
She served in W.A.C. for 2 1/2 years during World War II. She received the Good Conduct Medal, the American Campaign Medal and the World War II Victory Medal.
She worked as a retail associate for Stinchfields and for SAKS, both in Palm Beach, Fla., retiring in 1986.
She was of the Presbyterian Faith.
She was a member of the Women's Club.
Memorial service will be at 11:30 a.m. Wednesday at Hinchliff-Pearson-West Galesburg Chapel, with the Rev. Jim Eklund officiating. There will be no visitation. Graveside services will be at 1 p.m. Thursday in the Elmwood Cemetery, Fort Madison, Iowa.
Memorials may be made to the Women's Club, the Safe Harbor Women's Shelter or the Domestic Violence Coalition.
Ohren, Del

MONMOUTH - Del Ohren, 78, Monmouth, died at 4:20 a.m. Thursday (Feb. 19, 2004) in the Knox County Nursing Home, Knoxville.
He was born Dec. 29, 1925, in Bond County, the son of Edward and Alvina Suess Ohren.
He married June Irene Rogers on Aug. 20, 1948, in Taylorville.
Surviving are his wife; a daughter, Anita Ohren, Rock Island; a son, David (and Estela) Ohren, Grayslake; a brother, Raymond Ohren, Pocahontas; two sisters, Gladys Niggi, Highland, and Kathy Harrison, DeSoto; four grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; and nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents and a daughter, Belinda Del Campbell.
He was reared and educated in Bond County. He graduated from Greenville High School and from the University of Illinois in 1948 with a degree in dairy science.
A Navy veteran of World War II, he served from March 1944 to October 1945 with Aviation Unit V-5.
He worked as an assistant farm advisor for Christian County in Taylorville, as executive director of the Warren County Farm Bureau from 1951 to 1974, as Warren County zoning officer from 1972 to 1983 and as coordinator of the Senior Citizens Meals on Wheels program from 1984 to 1993. He was financal advisor of the family's The Phone Set Shop, which they owned for 20 years, and also was involved in real estate and rental properties.
He served on the Monmouth City Council for eight years.
He was a member of Faith United Presbyterian Church and was a deacon and elder. He was a member of the Community Medical Center Auxiliary, University of Illinois Alpha Gamma Rho Fraternity, the Illinois Agriculture Association and Monmouth American Legion Post 136.
Funeral will be at 10:30 a.m. Monday in Faith United Presbyterian Church, with the Rev. William Myers officiating. Friends may call after 3 p.m. Sunday at Hoover-Hall Memorial Chapel; family will be present from 4 to 6 p.m. Burial will be in Warren County Memorial Park Cemetery.
Memorials may be made to his church, the Community Medical Center Auxiliary or the 4-H of Warren County.
Walter Rodney Olin

KNOXVILLE - Walter Rodney "Butch" Olin, 66, 309 East Locust St., died at 2:53 p.m. Monday (Oct. 27, 2003) at the Knox County Nursing Home.
He was born Aug. 11, 1937, in Knoxville, the son of Walter C. and Stella M. Carter Olin.
He married Judy K. Adams on July 21, 1962, in Knoxville.
Surviving are his wife; two sons, Jeffrey D. Olin and Terry E. (and Beth) Olin, both of Knoxville; two sisters, Mary Olson, Gilson, and June (and Leroy) Hodges, Delong; and two brothers, Frank (and Phyllis) Olin and William C. (and Ada) Olin, both of Knoxville. He was preceded in death by his parents and a brother.
He was reared and educated in Knoxville, graduating from Knoxville High School in 1956.
An Air Force veteran, he served from 1957 to 1961 as a licensed practical nurse.
He worked at Maytag Corporation for 40 years, retiring June 1, 1996.
He was a member, deacon and sang in the choir at Knoxville Christian Church and was a member of the Christian Men's Fellowship Group. He was a member of Midwest Lodge Union 2063 in Galesburg.
Funeral will be at 11 a.m. Thursday in Hurd-Hendricks Funeral Home, with the Rev. Jerry Hill officiating. Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. today at the funeral home. Burial will be in Knoxville Cemetery.
Memorials may be made to his church.

MONMOUTH - Dennis L. Oliphant, 56, 3 Industrial Park, died at 9:40 p.m. Friday (Aug. 15, 2003) in St. Francis Medical Center, Peoria.
He was born Oct. 11, 1946, in LaFayette, Ind., the son of Donald Ayers and Louise Knipp Oliphant.
He married Janet K. Gaskill.
Surviving are a daughter, Ginger K. Oliphant, Fountain Hills, Ariz., and two sons, Scott M. Oliphant and Kent M. Oliphant, both of Monmouth.
He was reared in LaFayette and graduated from West LaFayette High School. He attended college for several years.
He and his father-in-law, George Gaskill, formed and operated Equipco, a company that refurbished soft drink dispensing equipment for Coca Cola.
Cremation was accored. Graveside service will be at 10:30 a.m. Thursday in Warren County Memorial Park Cemetery, with the Rev. Ken Muck officiating. Visitation will be from 7 to 8 p.m. Wednesday in Turnbull Funeral Home.
A memorial fund is being established for his children's education.

GALESBURG - Jane Olmstead, 80, 190 Circle Drive, died at 8:52 p.m. Sunday (Oct. 5, 2003) in OSF St. Mary Medical Center.
She was born Sept. 9, 1923, in Sterling, the daughter of Gerald and Edith Carrithers Wallick.
She married Jack Olmstead on Sept. 26, 1943, in Sterling.
Surviving are her husband; three daughters, Sue (and Tom) Harmon, LaGrange, Nancy (and Don) Miller, Davenport, Iowa, and Sandra (and Mike) Perez, Park Rapids, Minn.; a sister, Mary Louise Gebhardt, Sterling; four grandchildren and a great-grandson. She was preceded in death by her parents and a brother.
She graduated from Sterling High School and attended Cornell College in Mt. Vernon, Iowa.
She was a Home Interiors representative for 13 years.
She was a member of First United Methodist Church and taught Sunday school and served on church boards. She was active with the Galesburg Civic Art Center, Prairie Land Water Media Society, Knox County Habitat for Humanity and Girl Scouts of America.
Cremation will be accorded. Services will be at 11 a.m. Saturday in First United Methodist Church, with the Rev. Thomas Harmon and Rev. Marilyn Anell officiating. Visitation will follow the service at the church. Private burial will be later in Knoxville Cemetery. Hinchliff-Pearson-West Galesburg Chapel is in charge of arrangements.
Memorials may be made to her church or Knox County Habitat for Humanity.

WONDER LAKE - Diane Olson, 60, Wonder Lake, died Saturday (Oct. 18, 2003) in Memorial Medical Center, Woodstock.
She was born May 19, 1943, in Lincoln, the daughter of Harold and Harriet Klokkenga.
She married Roger H. Olson on Feb. 23, 1963, in Altona.
Surviving are her husband, the Rev. Roger H. Olson; four daughters, Terese (and Peter) Paulson, Woodstock, Ruby Olson and Janel Olson, both of Crystal Lake, and Dr. Maria (and Jason) Mallory, Racine, Wis.; and two grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents.
She lived in Centralia for five years before moving to Wonder Lake in June of 1971. She was a rural letter carrier for the U.S. Postal Service in Wonder Lake.
She served two terms on the District 200 Board of Education and was a member of the Toastmaster organization.
She was the choir director for several years at Nativity Lutheran Church, where her husband was the pastor.
Funeral will be at noon Tuesday in Light of Christ Lutheran Church, 100 Hanson Road, Algonquin, with the Rev. Kendall Koenig officiating. Visitation will be from 9 a.m. until the time of the service at the church. Fellowship will follow the service in the fellowship hall of the church. Inurnment will be private. Justen's Wonder Lake Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

ALTONA - Celia L. Olson, 84, Altona, died Sunday (Nov. 16, 2003) at Seminary Manor, Galesburg.
She was born April 15, 1919, in Abingdon, the daughter of Frank and Maude Swigert Anderson.
She married Alburtus H. Olson on Feb. 19, 1941, in Woodhull.
Surviving are her husband; one son, Ray Olson, Woodhull; two sisters, Kathleen Dunlap, Lake Bracken, and Nellie Weatherford, Galesburg; four grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, one daughter, Mary Jane Olson, one son, Gale Olson, and one brother.
She graduated from Abingdon High School and attended Brown's Business School.
She was a homemaker and assisted her husband in the operation of the family farm.
She was a member of Messiah Lutheran Church in Galva and the former Rio Order of the Eastern Star Chapter 313.
Funeral will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday at the Peterson Wallin Knox Funeral Home in Woodhull, with the Rev. Philip O. Laurin officiating. Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home. Burial will be in the Woodhull Cemetery.

OQUAWKA - Marilyn L. Olson, 69, Oquawka, did at 5:45 a.m. Friday (Sept. 26, 2003) at home.
She was born April 9, 1934, in Gladstone, the daughter of Harold L. and Fern Beebe James.
She married Nile B. Olson on Jan. 15, 1985, in Oquawka.
Surviving are her husband; a daughter, Diane Walters, Iowa City, Iowa; a stepson, Forrest N. (and Pat) Olson, Auburn; three sisters, Barbara Price, Biggsville, Shirley Simpson, Oquawka, and Vickie Oliver, Gladstone; two brothers, Ray James, Fort Madison, Iowa, and Ron James, Oquawka; a grandson, a stepgranddaughter, and nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents and a twin daughter.
She was reared and educated in Gladstone and graduated from G and O High School in 1952.
She was a homemaker and worked at Sylvania Co. in Burlington, Iowa, as a production inspector and in the office at McCabe Termite Control in Burlington.
Funeral will be at 10 a.m. Monday in Turnbull Funeral Home, with the Rev. Robert Adams officiating. Friends may call after noon Sunday at the funeral home; family will be present from 2 to 4 p.m. Burial will be in Oquawka Cemetery.

MONMOUTH - Mildred M. Olson, 88, Monmouth, died at 8 a.m. today (April 22, 2004), in Community Medical Center.
She was born March 10, 1916, in Macomb, the daughter of Joe A. and Stella Maude Bainter Wayland.
She married Leonard Olson on Dec. 3, 1938, in Monmouth. He died Aug. 26, 1994.
Surviving are two sons, Donald L. (and Jane) Olson, Houston, Texas, and Stanley E. (and Dee) Olson, Monmouth; four grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; and nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents and two brothers.
She attended Monmouth schools, graduating from Monmouth High School in 1933.
She first worked as secretary for the State of Illinois Unemployment Office and the Old Age Pension office in Monmouth. She later worked in the kitchen at Formfit Company in Monmouth and then at Warren School.
She was a member of First Lutheran Church in Monmouth.
Funeral will be at 10:30 a.m. Saturday at Turnbull Funeral Home, with the Rev. Keith Killinger officiating. Friends may call on Friday and Saturday at the funeral home; family will be present from 7 to 9 p.m. Friday. Burial will be in the Monmouth Cemetery.
