WATERLOO, Iowa - Cathy Lynn Rabenau, 46, Waterloo, died at 7:16 a.m. Saturday (Dec. 20, 2003) in Cedar Valley Hospice Home, Waterloo.
She was born July 22, 1957, the daughter of James and Norma Strausbaugh McClanahan.
She married Rodney J. Rabenau on July 1, 1977.
Surviving are her friend and companion, Tony Karns, Waterloo; her father of LaHarpe; her mother of West Burlington, Iowa; a son, Nick Rabenau, Monmouth; a daughter, Chasity Cox, Spiro, Okla.; a sister, Jana Daley, Spiro, Okla.; two brothers, Jimmy McClanahan, Monmouth, and Donnie McClanahan, Burlington, Iowa; and five grandchildren.
She had worked at Butler Manufacturing in Galesburg and Wilson Foods in Monmouth, and had owned and operated Flowers R Us in Monmouth. She also worked as the manager of an apartment complex and sold flowers for floral wholesaler, Bill Doran Company in Waterloo.
She was a member of the Y.M.C.A. in Waterloo and the Monmouth Eagles Club.
Funeral will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday in Banks & Beals Funeral Home, LaHarpe, with the Rev. Ken Muck officiating. Visitation will be from noon Wednesday until the service at the funeral home. Burial will be in LaHarpe Cemetery.
A memorial fund has been established.

LITTLE YORK - Walter R. "Wally" Raes, 56, Little York, died at 5:09 p.m. Sunday (May 2, 2004), in Community Medical Center, Monmouth.
He was born Oct. 19, 1947, in Geneseo, the son of Oscar O. and Margaret Van Holderbeke Raes.
He married Linda M. Byland on Oct. 20, 1972, in Monmouth.
Surviving are his wife; two daughters, Shelley (and Doug) Calkins, Monmouth, and Tobie (and Rod) Ballard, Little York; four brothers, Edward (and Sue) Raes, Charles (and Mary) Raes and Eugene (and Judy) Raes, all of Monmouth, and Albert (and Julie) Raes, Hopedale; four grandchildren; and nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents.
He was reared and educated in Little York, where he attended Yorkwood High School, graduating in 1966.
He served in the U.S. Army during the Vietnam War.
He was a truck driver for Munson Transportation for 30 years, Sharkey Transportation, Star, Farmland Industries/National Carrier and lastly at DCM Transport.
He was a lifetime member of the Monmouth VFW.
Funeral will be at 2 p.m. Thursday at Turnbull Funeral Home, Monmouth, with the Rev. Suzanne Geer officiating. Friends may call on Wednesday and Thursday at the funeral home; family will be present from 6:30 to 8 p.m. Wednesday. Burial will be in the Little York Cemetery.
Memorials may be made to the Little York Fire Department or the Warren County Cancer Fund.

CANTON - Grace Ray, 83, rural Canton, died at 3:40 a.m. Tuesday (May 4, 2004) in Rosewood Care Center, Galesburg.
She was born Nov. 10, 1920, in Elmwood, the daughter of Fred and Janet Archdale Schulz.
She married John A. Ray on July 22, 1939, in Galesburg. He preceded her in death.
Surviving are a son, D. William Ray, Fort Collins, Colo.; a daughter, DaNita L. Thompson, Abingdon; four grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, two brothers and five sisters.
She farmed with her husband and was a homemaker. She was retired.
She was a member of Maples Mill United Methodist Church.
Cremation was accorded. No services are planned. Murphy-Sedgwick Memorial Home is in charge of arrangements.

BUSHNELL - Merlin M. Raymond, 80, Bushnell, died at 2:44 a.m. Saturday (Nov. 1, 2003) in McDonough District Hospital, Macomb.
He was born Feb. 5, 1923, in Abingdon, the son of John G. and Elizabeth Earnst Raymond.
He married Kathryn I. Benson on Jan. 21, 1942, in Kahoka, Mo. She died June 27, 1984.
Surviving are three daughters, Janet Karge, League City, Texas, Cindy (and Tom) Turner, Galesburg, and Linda (and Dave) Juliusson, Bushnell; seven grandchildren and five great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers, a half-brother and a stepbrother.
He was an Army veteran of World War II.
He worked at Vaughn and Bushnell Mfg. Co. in Bushnell for 35 years, retiring in December 1986.
He was a volunteer fireman for 18 years and a member of Bushnell VFW Post 1422.
Funeral will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday in Martin-Hollis Funeral Home, with the Rev. Terry Broady officiating. Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home, where friends may call after 2 p.m. Burial will be in Bushnell Cemetery.

CHICAGO - Richard Reavy Sr., 56, Chicago, formerly of Galesburg, died at 12:35 p.m. Sunday (April 25, 2004) at home.
He was born Jan. 3, 1948, in Galesburg, the son of Bernard and Rose Nemeth Reavy.
He married Angela Bessera in 1969, in Galesburg.
Surviving are his wife; four sons, Richard Reavy Jr. Elmwood Park, and Michael, James and David, all of Chicago; a daughter, Amy Reavy, Chicago; and two grandchildren.
He graduated from Costa Catholic High School in 1966.
He served in the Marine Corps.
He worked as a mail clerk at Urban retail in Chicago.
Funeral will be at 10 a.m. Saturday in Immaculate Heart of Mary Catholic Church, Galesburg, with the Rev. Ernest Pizzamiglio officiating. Visitation will be from 1 to 8 p.m. Friday at Watson Funeral Home, with the rosary recited at 5:30 p.m. Burial will be in St. Joseph's Cemetery, Galesburg.

BURLINGTON, Iowa - Richard E. Reed, 75, Burlington, died at 4:54 a.m. Tuesday (Dec. 30, 2003) in Great River Medical Center, West Burlington, Iowa.
He was born April 23, 1928, in Blandinsville, the son of Elmer and Hazel Hensley Reed.
He married Ada L Shafer on Jan. 9, 1948, in Burlington.
Surviving are his wife; two sons, David Reed, Burlington, and Todd Reed, Molino, Fla.; a sister, Mary Jo (and Ray) McConoughey, Bettendorf, Iowa; four grandchildren and three great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents.
He owned and operated a general store in Terre Haute, Ill., for several years and was a truck driver for the Benner Company and from 1974 to 1988 for Roadway Express. He also farmed in Henderson County.
He was a member of the Teamster's Union, the Burlington Moose Lodge and the West Burlington United Methodist Church.
Funeral will be at 10:30 a.m. Saturday in Banks & Beals Funeral Home, Stronghurst, with the Rev. Jack Wolgamuth officiating. Friends may call after 10 a.m. Friday at the funeral home; family will be present from 6 to 8 p.m.

SHELTON, Wash. - P. Dean Reem, 56, Shelton, died Wednesday (Oct. 1, 2003) in Seattle.
He was born Feb. 4, 1947, in Galesburg, the son of Victor R. and Lydia E. Peterson Reem.
He married Karen Sigo on Jan. 23, 1971, in Shelton, Wash.
Surviving are his wife; his mother of Galesburg; a son, Robert Reem, Shelton; four daughters, Jenniffer Reem and Mitzy Reem, both of Shelton, Amy (and Bill) Thurman, Grapeview, Wash., and Contessa Reem, Lacey, Wash.; four grandchildren; a niece and a nephew.
He graduated from Alexis High School.
He was an Army veteran.
He worked as a jail officer at the Mason County Sheriff's Office for 24 years. He also farmed and worked as a mechanic, at Simpson Timber Company and as a patrol officer for the Squaxin Island Tribe.
He volunteered with Mason County Search and Rescue, was president of the Shelton Rifle and Pistol Club and was a life member of the National Rifle Association.
Funeral will be at noon Saturday in First Baptist Church, Shelton, with Mason County Sheriff's Chaplain Bill Adam officiating. Friends may call from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Friday at McComb Funeral Home and at 11 a.m. Saturday at the church. Burial will be in Shelton Memorial Park.

GALESBURG - Mary E. Reich, 98, formerly of 727 Willard St., died at 5:20 p.m. Monday (Dec. 15, 2003), in Rosewood Care Center.
She was born July 15, 1905, in Henderson County, the daughter of John J. and Etta Frew Dunlevey.
She married John Vernon Reich in 1929. He preceded her in death.
Surviving are a nephew, John Dunlevey, Sun City, Calif.; two nieces, Marilyn Gil, Tucson, Ariz., and Lucille Morling, Galesburg; great-nieces and great-nephews and great-great-nieces and great-great-nephews. She was preceded in death by two brothers and three sisters.
She was a clerk in a department store in Baltimore, Md.; and also worked for Martin Aircraft in Baltimore.
She was a member of First Presbyterian Church in Galesburg and the Galesburg senior citizens club; and was a volunteer for Galesburg Cottage Hospital Service Guild and Senior Citizens.
Graveside services will be at 1:30 p.m. Wednesday in Oak Lawn Memorial Gardens, with the Rev. Scott Grulke officiating. There will be no visitation. Hinchliff-Pearson-West Galesburg Chapel is in charge of arrangements.

MONMOUTH - Elmer L. Reimolds, 75, Monmouth, died at 3:44 p.m. Thursday (May 6, 2004) in Community Medical Center.
He was born Jan. 4, 1929, in Laura, the son of Everett Glenn and Lula Mae Roberts Reimolds.
He married Sarah Elizabeth Davis on June 10, 1950, in Monmouth.
Surviving are his wife; two sons, Randy L. (and Angela) Reimolds and David Reimolds, both of Monmouth; two daughters, Rhonda Birditt, Davenport, Iowa, and Vicki (and Jeff) Birditt, Monmouth; two brothers, Paul (and Carol) Reimolds and Robert (and Dixie) Reimolds, both of Monmouth; six sisters, Bertha (and Cliff) Cottington, Peoria, Beulah Hart, Abingdon, Louella Eddington, Margie (and Bill) Smith and Marie Smith, all of Monmouth, and Maxine Updyke of Arizona; 13 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death his parents, a daughter, Celinda Murphy, a granddaughter, a brother and five sisters.
He was reared and educated in Laura and attended rural schools near Cameron.
He was an Air Force veteran.
He worked on the pipeline in Ormonde, was a livestock trucker and worked many years at Wells Pet Food.
Funeral will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday in Turnbull Funeral Home, with the Rev. Ken Muck officiating. Friends may call Monday and Tuesday at the funeral home; family will not be present. Burial will be in Monmouth Cemetery.

GALESBURG - Lawrence A. "Luigi" Remaly, 86, a resident of the Knox County Nursing Home, formerly of 1384 N. Henderson St., died at 7:15 a.m. Sunday (Sept. 21, 2003) in OSF St. Mary Medical Center.
He was born Nov. 22, 1916, in Burlington, Iowa, the son of William Fred and Emma Nyhart Remaly.
He married Verna B. Cable on June 1, 1936. She died July 12, 1998.
Surviving are one son, Arthur E. Remaly of Calif.; three daughters, Betty Sierra, Wataga, Linda B. Cooley, Colona, and Donna L. Remaly, Davenport, Iowa; 18 grandchildren; and 10 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, one son, Larry Remaly, three brothers and two sisters.
He worked for Gunther Construction in Galesburg, and then became a self-employed carpenter and contractor until his retirement in 1993.
Graveside service will be at 1 p.m. Wednesday at Old Stone Cemetery, Sperry, Iowa, with Jason Cooley officiating. Visitation will be from 10 to 11 a.m. Wednesday at Hinchliff-Pearson-West Galesburg Chapel.

GLADSTONE - Mary E. Remick, 82, a resident of Marigold Health Care Center, Galesburg, formerly of Gladstone, died at 10:20 a.m. Tuesday (Oct. 14, 2003) in the nursing home.
She was born Sept. 26, 1921, in Keithsburg, the daughter of Orville and Cora Carl Landrith.
She married Raymond F. Remick on Oct. 1, 1966, in Biggsville. He died Nov. 25, 2001.
Surviving are a daughter, Nancy Ghys, Davenport, Iowa; two brothers, John Landrith, Little York, and Orville Landrith, Hampton, Iowa; a granddaughter; a great-granddaughter; and a cousin. She was preceded in death by her parents.
She was reared and educated in Keithsburg.
She had worked at the Button Factory in Oquawka.
Funeral will be at 11 a.m. Friday in Turnbull Funeral Home, Oquawka, with the Rev. Robert Adams officiating. Visitation will be from 9 to 11 a.m. Friday at the funeral home. Burial will be in Oquawka Cemetery.
