Tucker, James A. Sr.

KNOXVILLE - James Arwin Tucker Sr., 82, 319 Galesburg Road, died at 8:11 p.m. Sunday (Sept. 28, 2003) at his son's home in North Henderson.
He was born Oct. 23, 1920, in Williamsfield, the son of Clarence and Elsie Blust Tucker.
He married Helen "Judy" Mudd on Aug. 16, 1941, in Kahoka, Mo.
Surviving are his wife of Ames, Iowa; two sons, James A. (and Karen) Tucker Jr., North Henderson, and William Tucker, Roseville; two daughters, Susan Meyerholz, Ames, Iowa, and Joyce Tucker, Middletown, Calif.; two brothers, Willis (and Wanda) Tucker, Fairfield, Iowa, and Harold (and Shirley) Tucker, Spokane, Wash.; four sisters, Lura McDonald, Burlington, Iowa, Betty Scott, East Peoria, Jane (and Jack) Hlavach, Peoria, and Carol Ann Swanson, San Francisco, Calif.; 13 grandchildren and six great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, a sister and a brother.
He was reared and educated in Knoxville and graduated from Knoxville High School in 1938.
He was an Army Air Force veteran of World War II.
He worked at the Ordinance Plant in Coal City before entering the service, drove a city bus in Galesburg for two years and farmed in the Kirkwood, Monmouth, Biggsville and Alexis areas. He retired in 1985 and moved to Knoxville.
He was a member of the Henderson County Soil and Water Conservation Committee and was president of the Warren County Prime Beef Festival in 1974.
He was of Methodist faith.
Funeral will be at 1 p.m. Thursday in Hurd-Hendricks Funeral Home, with the Rev. Bruce Baker officiating. Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home. Burial will be in Knoxville Cemetery.
Memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society or OSF Hospice.
Tyner, Leila I.

PRAIRIE CITY - Leila I. Tyner, 89, Prairie City, died at 8:03 p.m. Thursday (Oct. 16, 2003) in OSF St. Mary Medical Center, Galesburg.
She was born Nov. 5, 1913, in Hannibal, Mo., the daughter of Charles and Pearl Walker Bates.
She married Arthur Paul in Fulton County. She then married Durwood Tyner in February 1935 in Prairie City. He died Aug. 23, 1962.
Surviving are three sons, Chester Paul, Bushnell, and Harry Tyner and Victor Tyner, both of Phoenix, Ariz.; two daughters, Winona Harris, in North Carolina, and Phyllis Brent, Keithsburg; 17 grandchildren; and many great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, one daughter, Leila, two brothers and one sister.
She worked in the Dietary Department in Pekin Hospital for about 12 years and worked as a seamstress most of her life.
There will be no visitation or services. Cremation rites were accorded, with burial of ashes at a later date. Martin-Hollis Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
Tingley, Bradley E.

GALESBURG - Bradley E. Tingley, 47, Jacksonville, Fla., formerly of Galesburg, died at 6:52 a.m. Sunday (May 2, 2004) in Shands Hospital, Jacksonville.
He was born July 6, 1956, in Galesburg, the son of Robert R. and Ruth Sargeant Tingley.
Surviving are his mother of Galesburg; his father of Galesburg; Debra Daniels, with whom he lived, Jacksonville, Fla.; a daughter, Tabitha Tingley of Georgia; a stepdaughter, Melinda Daniels, Jacksonville, Fla.; a brother, Robert W. Tingley, Galesburg; three sisters, Connie (and Zan) Carter, Cindy Tingley and Christine Gray, all of Galesburg; a granddaughter; and nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles and cousins.
He lived in Florida since 1991 and worked as a tree specialist at Trees Inc. and Asplund Tree Service.
Cremation was accorded. A celebration of life service will be at 11 a.m. May 15 in Hinchliff-Pearson-West Abingdon Chapel, with the Rev. Warren Cummins officiating. No visitation is planned.
Trimble, Susan D.

LINCOLN, Neb. - Susan D. Trumble, 52, Lincoln, Neb., died Thursday (June 3, 2004).
She was born Nov. 10, 1951, in Geneva, Neb., the daughter of Louie and Joan Moul.
Surviving are two sons, Jeff Trumble and Andrew Trumble, both of Lincoln; a daughter, Heather Smith, Gresham, Neb.; her parents, Louie Moul, Hampton, Neb., and Joan Moul, Geneva, Neb.; a brother, J.R. Moul, Longview, Wash.; a sister, Leigh Moberg, Galesburg; and two grandchildren.
She was a clerical worker in the health care industry.
Cremation will be accorded. Funeral will be at 10 a.m. Monday in St. Patrick's Parish, Lincoln, where visitation will be one hour before the service. Aspen Mortuary is in charge of arrangements.
Memorials may be made to the family.
Tucker, Richard B.

GALVA - Richard B. "Dick" Tucker, 73, a resident of the Toulon Health Care Center, formerly of Galva, died at 8:50 a.m. Wednesday (June 2, 2004), in the Kewanee Hospital.
He was born April 3, 1931, in Peoria, the son of Ernest and Virtue Stites Tucker.
He married Joann Dickerson on Jan. 9, 1955, in Great Falls, Mont.
Surviving are his wife; one son, Ray (and Teresa) Tucker, Oneida; one daughter, Linda Tucker of Calif.; one sister, Norma Stroud, Woodhull; three grandchildren; and nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, one sister and one half brother.
He attended Galva Schools.
He was an Air Force veteran of the Korean War from 1951 to 1955. He received the Korean Service Medal with five Bronze Service Stars, the National Defense Service Medal, the United Nations Service Medal and the Good Conduct Medal.
He had retired after 30 years at John Deere Harvester Works in East Moline. After his retirement, he operated Tucker's Shoe Repair in Galva.
He was a member of the Flemish-American Club in Kewanee, the Galesburg VFW Post 2257 and Hagberg-Hamlin American Legion Post 45 of Galva.
Funeral will be at 1:30 p.m. Sunday at Rux Funeral Home, with the Rev. Philip O. Laurin officiating. Visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m. Saturday at the funeral home. Burial will be in Galva Cemetery, where military honors will be conducted by the Galva Fusiliers.
Memorials may be made to the Alzheimer's Association or to a charity of the donor's choice.

BERWICK - Raymond Tygrett, 88, Berwick, died at 5:25 a.m. today (Dec. 29, 2003), in LaMoine Christian Nursing Home, Roseville.
He was born March 13, 1915, in Bowling Green, Ky., the son of James B. and Minnie Hood Tygrett.
He married Jane Maners on Sept. 3, 1944, in Sarasota, Fla.
Surviving are his wife; two sons, Terry Ray Tygrett, Atalisa, Iowa, and Thomas Tygrett, Roseville; two sisters, Mary Tygrett and Martha Tygrett, both of Tipton, Iowa; and four grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents and one sister.
He was born in Bowling Green, Ky. and later moved to Disco, Ill.
He has lived and farmed in the Berwick area since 1945.
He served during World War II in the U.S. Army Aircorps as a staff sergeant of maintenance of fighter airplanes.
He was a member of the Roseville United Methodist Church and Warren County Farm Bureau.
Graveside services will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday at the Roseville Cemetery, with the Rev. Dianne Duncan officiating. Visitation will be from 6 to 7:30 p.m. Tuesday at Corman Memorial Home, Roseville.

KANSAS CITY, Mo. - Lois A. Ulam, 76, Kansas City, died Saturday (Nov. 1, 2003) at St. Luke's Hospital of Kansas City.
She was born Feb. 7, 1927, in Galesburg.
She married Daniel W. Ulam Jr. on June 5, 1948.
Surviving are her husband; one brother, Harold (and Dorothy) Hampton; and one brother-in-law, George (and Signe) Ulam.
She was a member of Plattewoods United Methodist Church; and she and her husband were active in the Mid American Packard Club and Mid American Buick Club.
Cremation has been accorded. Graveside services will be at 10:30 a.m. Thursday at East Slope Cemetery, Riverside. Visitation will be from 6 to 9 p.m. Wednesday at D.W. Newcomer's Sons White Chapel, 6600 N. Antioch, Gladstone.
Memorials may be made to the Grand Avenue Temple or the City Union Mission.

GALESBURG - Daniel A. Unger, 35, 2490 Monmouth Blvd., died at 8:21 p.m. Monday (Oct. 6, 2003) at home.
He was born May 2, 1968, in Galesburg, the son of Willie and Kathy Neave Unger.
He married Lynn McCormick on March 16, 2001, in Galesburg.
Surviving are a son, Tyler D. Unger, Galesburg; a daughter, McKenna Lynn Unger, Galesburg; his father of Round Rock, Texas; his mother, Kathy (and Gordon "Butch) Allen, Galesburg; two brothers, Doug (and Cindy) Unger, Plainfield, and Brian Unger, Galesburg; and a sister, Anita Bassett, Jetson, Tenn.
He worked as a tool and die apprentice at the former Mid Illini Machine Shop.
He played in a fall softball league.
Funeral will be at 11 a.m. Saturday in Watson Funeral Home, Galesburg, with the Rev. Bob Wakefield officiating. Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. Friday at the funeral home. Burial will be in East Linwood Cemetery.

MONMOUTH - Helen Van Tine, 92, 1119 E. 6th Ave., died at 7:45 a.m. Monday (Sept. 22, 2003) at Community Medical Center.
She was born Nov. 18, 1910, in rural Gerlaw, the daughter of Clem and Madue Fisher Rhoades.
She married Homer A. Van Tine on Nov. 13, 1931, in Aledo. He died March 5, 1993.
Surviving are two daughters-in-law, Gertrude Van Tine and Judy Van Tine, both of Monmouth; two sisters, Marie Owens, Monmouth, and Evelyn McCrery, Aledo; a sister-in-law, Mary Rhoades, Monmouth; three granddaughters; two stepgranddaughters; two great-granddaughters; five stepgreat-grandchildren; one great-great-granddaughter; and nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, one son, Donald L. Van Tine, two sisters and one brother.
She was reared and educated in Brownsville School, north of Burgess; Monmouth public schools and Monmouth High School.
She was a homemaker and had worked as a seamstress for Mary Kniss following high school.
She was a member of the First Christian Church in Monmouth.
Graveside services will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday at Warren County Memorial Park, with the Rev. James Epperson officiating. Friends may call Tuesday and Wednesday at Turnbull Funeral Home; family will be present from 1 to 2 p.m. Wednesday.
Memorials may be made to the Extended Care at Community Medical Center.

KEWANEE - Robert L. Van Autreve, 77, rural Kewanee, died at 6:25 a.m. Saturday (Nov. 1, 2003) at home.
He was born Sept. 1, 1926, in Mercer County, the son of William and Catherine Euchaski Van Autreve.
He married Dorothy M. Lewis on Dec. 20, 1943, in Missouri. She died July 25, 2001.
Surviving are two daughters, Madge (and Gale) Larson, St. Augustine, and Cathy (and Bob) Thuline, Galva; two brothers, William Van Autreve, Kewanee, and Marvin Van Autreve, Toulon; six grandchildren and four great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents and a son.
He farmed and was a truck driver.
Funeral will be at 7:30 p.m. Thursday in Rux Funeral Home, Kewanee, with the Rev. Carole Andres officiating. Visitation will be from 6:30 p.m. until the service Thursday at the funeral home. Cremation will follow the service. Burial will be at 1 p.m. Nov. 11 in Evergreen Memory Gardens near Kewanee.

GALESBURG - Margaret H. Villarreal, 88, a resident of the Knox County Nursing Home, 800 N. Market St., died at 8:45 a.m. Saturday (Nov. 29, 2003) there.
She was born Aug. 18, 1915, in Churintzio Mich., Mexico, the daughter of Michael and Patricia Avales Mendez.
She married Gabriel G. Villarreal on May 5, 1935, in Galesburg. He died in 1985.
Surviving are three sons, Gilbert (and Lola) Villarreal, Chicago and Michael John Villarreal and Victor Villarreal, both of Galesburg; two daughters, Margaret Giminez and Esmerelda (and Paul) Medina, both of Galesburg; one brother, Louis Mendez, in Mexico; 13 grandchildren and 17 great-grandchildren.
She worked in the kitchen at Knox College and Knox Laundry for several years.
She was a member of St. Patrick's Catholic Church and its altar and rosary society.
She was a member of LULAC Club, she was a Lioness in the Galesburg Lion's Club and a volunteer for the Salvation Army.
Funeral will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday in St. Patrick's Catholic Church. Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at Watson Funeral Home, where the rosary will be prayed at 7:30 p.m. Burial will be in St. Joseph Cemetery, Galesburg.
Memorials may be made to the Alzheimer's Association.
