Dorothy M. Voss

BENICIA, Calif. - Dorothy M. Voss, 80, Benicia, Calif., died Monday (Sept. 29, 2003) in California.
She was born Oct. 6, 1922, in Peoria.
She married Clarence Hawkins of Gerlaw. She later married Ed Voss in 1963. He preceded her in death.
Surviving are a daughter, Dona M. Bovey, Benicia, Calif.; 12 grandchildren and one great-grandchild. She was preceded in death by a daughter, Becky Tornow, and two sons, Ben Hawkins and Dean Hawkins.
She received her vocational nursing training at Dixon State Hospital in the early 1960s and graduated as a registered nurse from Sauk Valley College in the 1970s. She retired from nursing in 1988 after 15 years.
A memorial service will be at 4 p.m. Sunday at Community Congregational Church in Benicia, with the Rev. Roger Straw officiating. Burial will be in Oakwood Cemetery, Dixon, at a later date. Passalacqua Funeral Chapel is in charge of arrangements.

Voorhees, Eileen

PROPHETSTOWN - Eileen Voorhees, 84, Prophetstown, died Saturday (Oct. 11, 2003) in CGH Medical Center, Sterling.
She was born May 1, 1919, in Avon, the daughter of Otis and Kathryn McMahill Zuck.
She married Gerald Voorhees on May 10, 1941, in Kahoka, Mo. He died Jan. 13, 1985.
Surviving are a daughter, Elaine (and Terry) Peck, Prophetstown; two sons, Jerry (and Lynne) Voorhees, Crystal Lake, and Allen (and Gayle) Voorhees, Morrison; a sister, Florence (and Ed) Murk, Mission, Texas; two brothers, Ivan (and Dorothy) Zuck and Delbert (and Frances) Zuck, both of Galesburg; nine grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren and six great-great-grandchildren.
She was a member of Advent Christian Church and a member and past Worthy Matron of Minerva Chapter, Order of Eastern Star, Prophetstown.
Funeral will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday in Advent Christian Church, where visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday, with Eastern Star service at 8 p.m. Graveside service will be at 3 p.m. Wednesday in Abingdon Cemetery. Gibson & Son Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
A memorial fund has been established.

Coulter-Wagg, Hazel

MONMOUTH - Hazel Mae Coulter-Wagg, 68, Monmouth, formerly of Muscatine, Iowa, died Sunday (May 2, 2004), in Galesburg Cottage Hospital.
She was born Jan. 12, 1936, in Enid, Okla., the daughter of Charles and Trisha Franklin Klingenburg. She was raised by her adoptive parents, Guy and Ruth Klingenburg.
She married Verl Weatherman. She later married Kenneth Coulter. On April 14, 1981, she married Robert Wagg in Muscatine, Iowa.
Surviving are her husband, Robert Wagg, Monmouth; two sons, Bob Weatherman, Muscatine, Iowa, and Bill (and Linda) Coulter, Paw Paw, Mich.; four daughters, Jean (and Steve) Seefeldt and Virginia Wagg, both of Muscatine, Iowa, Lauri McArthur, New Boston, and Bobbie Wagg, Grandview, Iowa; a sister, Vida Green, Pasadena, Texas; 12 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her birth and adoptive parents, and a daughter-in-law, Cyndie Weatherman.
She worked for many years at Huttig Manufacturing and retired from H.J. Heinz Company, both in Muscatine, Iowa.
She was a member of the First Lutheran Church, Monmouth.
Funeral will be at 4 p.m. Tuesday at Trinity Episcopal Church, Muscatine, with the Rev. Bartholomew Ryan officiating. Visitation will be from 3 p.m. until the time of service Tuesday at the church. Burial will be at a later date in the Trinity Episcopal Columbarium. The Jeffrey S. Nichols Chapel Hill Funeral Home and Crematory of Muscatine is in charge of the arrangements.

Walker, Dorothy M.

BIGGSVILLE - Dorothy M. Walker, 90, Biggsville, died at 11:34 p.m. Friday (Nov. 14, 2003) in Great River Medical Center, West Burlington, Iowa.
She was born Sept. 25, 1913, in Biggsville, the daughter of Leslie and Margaret Jacobs Perdue.
She married Gilbert Walker on Oct. 28, 1934, in Kahoka, Mo. He died May 25, 1992.
Surviving are four daughters, Donna (and Kenneth) Rice, Gladstone, Joyce (and Harry) Schrader, Burlington, Iowa, Gilberta (and Richard) Griffith, Wellman, Iowa, and Marjorie (and Dale) Ross, Galesburg; one son, Max (and Margaret) Walker, Kingston, Iowa; two half-sisters, Vera (and Jim) Burr, Oquawka, and Norma (and Duane) Hardin, Media; 18 grandchildren; 36 great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild. She was preceded in death by one sister, one half-sister, an infant brother and a great-grandson.
She attended Biggsville schools.
She was a homemaker and cleaned houses for various local families. She also worked 10 years as a waitress at Noble's Cafe in Biggsville.
She was a member of Biggsville United Methodist Church.
Funeral will be at 1 p.m. Tuesday in Biggsville United Methodist Church, with the Rev. Carol Stufflebeam officiating. Burial will be in Olena Cemetery, Olena. Friends may call after 3 p.m. Monday in Biggsville United Methodist Church, where the family will be present from 6 to 8 p.m.
Memorials may be made to the family.

WILLIAMSFIELD - Frank "Jack" Walker, 72, rural Williamsfield, died at 2:30 a.m. today (Nov. 18, 2003), in the Knox County Nursing Home, Knoxville.

Bruce G. Wallace
January 26, 2004
LAURA - Bruce G. Wallace, 45, died at 11 p.m. Friday (Jan. 23, 2004) near Brimfield.
He died from injuries he received in a truck accident.
He was born Dec. 8, 1958, in Canton, the son of Bobby G. and Barbara S. Lane Wallace.
Surviving are his mother of Yates City; a son, Ian; two brothers, Barry Wallace, Elgin, and Bryan Wallace, Douglas; two sisters, Beth (and Delbert) Wells, Maquon, and Belinda Wallace, Naperville. He was preceded in death by his father.
He graduated from Yates City High School in 1977 and had lived in Laura the past 12 years.
He worked at Ottobaum Construction of Morton and was a member of construction union Local 165.
Funeral will be at 11 a.m. Thursday in Patterson Funeral Home, Elmwood, with Adrian Swindler officiating. Visitation will be from 6 to 9 p.m. Wednesday and one hour before the service Thursday at the funeral home. Burial will be in Douglas Cemetery.
Memorials may be made to the Diabetes Association.

Walters, Eileen G.
January 4, 2004
MACOMB - Eileen G. Walters, 80, Macomb, formerly of Smithfield, died at 12:47 p.m. Friday (Jan. 2, 2004) in The Elms Nursing Home.
She was born Sept. 15, 1923, in Smithfield, the daughter of Thomas and Alta Etnire Walters.
She is survived by many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by five brothers and one sister.
She lived in Smithfield most of her life and worked as a telephone operator in the area during her entire career.
She was a member of Nazarene Church in Macomb and a past member of Smithfield Methodist Church.
Funeral will be at 1:30 p.m. Monday in Martin-Hollis Funeral Home, Bushnell. Visitation will be one hour before the time of the service in the funeral home. Burial will be in Baughman Cemetery near Smithfield.
Memorials may be made to a charity of the donor's choice.

BLANDINSVILLE - Elmo Waller, 74, Blandinsville, died at 5 a.m. Sunday (Sept. 14, 2003) at home.
He was born Feb. 1, 1929, in Colchester, the son of James and Alta McKinnon Waller.
He married Clydene Sparrow on Aug. 5, 1950, in Roseville.
Surviving are his wife; two sons, Lyle (and Alice) Waller, Swan Creek, and Earl E. (and DeAnn) Waller, Raritan; a daughter, Lisa (and Marshall) Gooden, Blandinsville; two brothers, Merle (and Pat) Waller, Normal, and Bill Waller, San Jose, Calif.; eight sisters, Virginia (and Harold) Helms, Bushnell, Barbara (and Don) Shook, Monterey, Calif., Annabell (and Lawrence) McCoy, Monmouth, Helen (and Ocie) Baldwin and June (and Ben) Mecum, both of Swan Creek, Evelyn Waller, Chatham, Jeanie Plate, Good Hope, and Mae (and Jerry) Mohr, Arbela, Mo.; six grandchildren and a great-grandchild. He was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers and oane sister.
He was raised and educated in Colchester, Schuyler County, Walnut Grove and Swan Creek.
He was an Army veteran of the Korean War.
He worked most of his life as a self-employed excavating contractor and had lived in Blandinsville since 1991.
He was a member of Blandinsville Christian Church and Hicks-Olson Blandinsville American Legion Post 424.
Graveside service will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday in Glade City Cemetery, Blandinsville, with the Rev. James Oliver officiating. No visitation is planned. Corman Memorial Home, Roseville, is in charge of arrangements.
Memorials may be made to McDonough District Hospice.

Ward, Lois D.

GALESBURG - Lois D. Ward, 76, 121 W. Simmons St., died at 12:08 a.m. Tuesday (Oct. 7, 2003) in Galesburg Cottage Hospital.
She was born Sept. 16, 1927, in Sheridan, Iowa, the daughter of Lewis and Cleo Chandler.
She married Luther J. Ward. He died in 1981.
Surviving are one daughter, Rhonda Ward, Galesburg; one brother, Jake (and Marilyn) Chandler, Sheridan, Iowa; and one sister, JoAnn (and Dale) Nelson, Sheridan, Iowa.
She graduated from high school in Sheridan, Iowa.
She worked in a steel factory in Havanna for 20 years.
Graveside services will be at 1:30 p.m. Monday in East Linwood Cemetery. Visitation will be from 12:30 to 1:30 p.m. Monday at Hinchliff-Pearson-West Galesburg Chapel.

Wasson, F. Dale

MONMOUTH - F. Dale Wasson, 84, Monmouth, died at 11:05 a.m. Tuesday (Sept. 2, 2003) in LaMoine Christian Nursing Home, Roseville.
He was born Nov. 1, 1918, in Lone Tree, Iowa, the son of John and Harriett Atkins Wasson.
He married Dorothy M. Lindstrom on April 25, 1958, in Monmouth.
Surviving are his wife; a daughter, Susan (and Steven) Ross, Biggsville; five sons, Karl K. Kaminski, Galesburg, Don E. Kaminski, Danville, N.H., Paul F. (and Theresa) Wasson, Waukegan, David Wasson, East Peoria, and Calvin (and Dean Overhouse) Wasson, Kalmazoo, Mich.; a brother, Lyle E. Wasson, Fredonia, Iowa; grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents and a brother.
He was reared and educated in Columbus Junction, Iowa.
An Army veteran of World War II, served as a cook in Rome, Southern France, the Rhineland and Central Europe.
He worked as a cook for many years at Hendricks Cafe and Sunset Restaurant in Monmouth, in maintenance at Monmouth College for 20 years and as a guard on weekends at Butler Manufacturing, retiring at age 80.
Funeral will be at 10:30 a.m. Saturday in Turnbull Funeral Home, with the Rev. Ken Muck officiating. Friends may call after noon Friday at the funeral home; family will be present after 6:30 p.m. Burial will be in Warren County Memorial Park.
Memorials may be made to Countryside Bible Church.

VANCOUVER, Wash. - Evelyn Irene Wasson, 88, Vancouver, died Sunday (Dec. 7, 2003) in Vancouver.
She was born June 12, 1915, in Rapatee.
Surviving are a son, Jim W. Wasson of Arizona; a daughter, Jane Wasson-Carter, Portland, Ore.; three brothers, Rolland Foster, Maquon, Dean Foster, New Windsor, and Gene Foster, Galesburg; a sister, Peggy McDonald, Redlands, Calif.; six grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, Samuel T. Wasson, and a daughter, Mary Ann Henry.
She owned and operated Wasson's LaFayette Radio in Portland for 20 years and Sam's Good R.V. in Vancouver for 12 years.
She was a member of First United Methodist Church, the Naomi Circle and the Fairway Village Women's Golf Club.
Funeral will be at 2 p.m. Thursday in First United Methodist Church. Memorial Gardens Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
Memorials may be made to any charity.

Watkins, Frances W.

GALESBURG - Frances W. Watkins, 86, formerly of 466 W. Dayton St., died at 12:50 p.m. Sunday (Dec. 21, 2003) in the Knox County Nursing Home, Knoxville.
She was born March 3, 1917, in Camp Point, the daughter of Frank A. and Clara A. Peters Bastert.
She married William H. Watkins on June 14, 1936, in Clayton. He died in 1987.
Surviving are a son, Terry (and Diane) Watkins, Galesburg; a daughter, Kaye (and Michael) Watkins Pedziwater, Bella Vista, Ark.; three brothers, Ray Bastert, Lake Placid, Fla., and Al Bastert and John (and Marjorie) Bastert, both of Camp Point; three sisters, Betty Parcells, West Lake Village, Calif., Elsie (and Robert) Walton, Beulah, Mich., and Clarimae Ingle, Champaign; five grandchildren and three great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, a son, William Watkins, and two brothers.
She graduated from Maplewood High School, Camp Point.
She worked as administrative curriculum secretary for Community School District 205 for 15 years, retiring in 1979.
She was a former member of the Knox County Educational Secretaries Association and a member of the Teamsters Auxillary and the Cottage Hospital Guild. She volunteered at Galesburg Cottage Hospital;
She was a member of First Christian Church, where she was a member of the Diaconate, a Sunday school teacher for 19 years and involved in Circle 5.
Funeral will be at 1:30 p.m. Tuesday in Hinchliff-Pearson-West Galesburg Chapel, with the Rev. Greg Fitch officiating. Visitation will be from 12:30 to 1:30 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home. Burial will be in Oak Lawn Memorial Gardens.
Memorials may be made to her church or the Knox County Nursing Home.

CHICAGO - Lynford Keith Webber, 81, Chicago, formerly of Oneida and Galesburg, died at 8:46 a.m. Monday (June 16, 2003) in Resurrection Medical Center, Chicago.
He was born Sept. 2, 1921, in Castleton, the son of Ivan and Vera Dickerson Webber.
He married Mary Gillen on Nov. 15, 1955, in Monmouth. She died Dec. 23, 1963.
Surviving is a brother-in-law, Orville Larson, Galesburg. He was preceded in death by his parents, one brother and one sister.
Cremation will be accorded. There will be no visitation. Burial will be in St. Mary's Catholic Cemetery, Monmouth, at a later date.
Hurd-Hendricks Funeral Home, Oneida, is in charge of arrangements.
