GALESBURG - Robert D. Williams, 74, 432 N. Broad St., died at 5:25 a.m. Monday (Dec. 8, 2003) in Heartland Health Care Center.
He was born Dec. 12, 1928, in Galesburg, the son of Donald H. and Jennie Walker Williams.
He married Opal Burton. He married Jackie Maxwell.
Surviving are two sons, Donnie (and Lesley) Williams, Abingdon, and Bobby G. (and Cindy) Williams, Shawnee, Okla.; two daughters, Caroline A. (Lyle) Nelson and Donna Williams, both of Abingdon; a brother, Ralph "Butch" Williams, Abingdon; 11 grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents and a brother.
He was an Army veteran of the Korean War, serving from Dec. 1, 1951, to Sept. 29, 1953.
He lived most of his life in Galesburg.
He worked at Butler Manufacturing Company for 30 years before retiring.
He was a member of VFW Post 2257 and Ralph M. Noble American Legion Post 285.
Graveside service will be at 1:30 p.m. Wednesday in East Linwood Cemetery, with Eleanor Landon officiating and military honors by American Legion Post 285. No visitation is planned. Hinchliff-Pearson-West Galesburg Chapel is in charge of arrangements.
Memorials may be left at Abingdon Banking Center.
Donald L. Wills

MONMOUTH - Donald L. "Jim" Wills, 79, Monmouth, died at 4:20 p.m. Monday (Oct. 6, 2003) in OSF St. Mary Medical Center, Galesburg.
He was born May 12, 1924, in Peoria.
He married Constance June Whitesell on June 30, 1946, in Danville. She died in Aug. 1971. He married Cindy Bowman on March 12, 1972, in Monmouth.
Surviving are his wife; a son, Don (and Jan) Wills, Western Springs; a daughter, Becky (and Rod) Stone, Carefree, Ariz.; a stepson, Tom (and Jeannie) Bowman, Pasadena, Calif.; a stepdaughter, Susan (and Craig) Farr, Barrington Hills; a brother, Bruce Wills, Danville; two half-sisters, Ruby Wilson, Bullhead City, Ariz., and Maryl Ann (and Don) Bendnar, Fort Walton Beach, Fla.; and six grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents.
He was reared and educated in Danville.
A Marine Corps veteran of World War II, he served two tours as an aviator in the South Pacific.
He received bachelor's and master's degrees from the University of Illinois in the 1940s and a Ph.D. from the University of Iowa in 1970.
He was professor of geology at Monmouth College from 1951 to 1984 and a professor emeritus since 1984. He was chief of wildlife and fisheries for the Department of Conservation from 1976 to 1979 and was a petroleum geologist consultant for many years, mainly in the Illinois Basin.
He was a member of the Monmouth Park Board, the Monmouth Flying Club, the Kiwanis Club and the American Association of Petroleum Geologists.
Cremation was accorded. A remembrance gathering will be at 4 p.m. Friday in the Highlander Room at Monmouth College. Turnbull Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
Memorials may be made to the National Multiple Sclerosis Society and left at the memorial gathering or the funeral home.

BURLINGTON, Iowa - Bill Dale "B.D." Wilson, 85, Burlington, died at 3:50 p.m. Friday (Oct. 17, 2003) in Great River Medical Center, West Burlington, Iowa.
He was born July 21, 1918, in Galesburg, the son of Wilbur David "Dan" and Margaret Julia Geiger Wilson.
He married M. Jeanne Parkins on Dec. 30, 1939, in Burlington.
Surviving are his wife; six daughters, Diane (and Bob) Mansheim, Liz (and Tim) Buhmeyer, Maggie Pettit and Sarah Wilson (and Michael) Benninghoven, all of Burlington, Melissa "Missy" (and Patrick) Mulholland, Sperry, Iowa, and Barbara "Bunnie" (and James) Wilson-DeWitt, Des Moines, Iowa; 20 grandchildren; 19 great-grandchildren and four great-great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, a daughter, Susan G. Naples, and a brother.
He was a Navy veteran of World War II.
He worked as a railroad conductor at Burlington Northern and CB&Q Railroads. He was retired.
He was a member of St. Mary and Patrick Catholic Church, Eagles Aerie 150, the VFW, NARVRE Unit 167, the YMCA, Flint Hills Golf Club, a senior bowling league and the Humane Society, and had been a Mason.
Funeral was Tuesday in Prugh's Chapel, with the Rev. Jerry Stouvenel officiating. Burial was in Sacred Heart Cemetery.

BUSHNELL - Guy Robert "Bob" Wilson, 77, Bushnell, died at 7:28 a.m. Wednesday (Dec. 10, 2003) in McDonough District Hospital, Macomb.
He was born Sept. 9, 1926, in Rushville, the son of Roy Delbert and Sarah F. Wheelhouse Wilson.
He married Patricia A. Swanson on Aug. 27, 1948, in Macomb.
Surviving are his wife; a son, Don (and Barb) Wilson, Bushnell; three daughters, Janet (and Wayne) Sissors, Arlington Heights, Marianne (and Rod) McGrew, Bushnell, and Nancy (and John) Stoner, Belleair, Fla.; two brothers, Russell Delbert Wilson, Macomb, and Arden Wilson, Arrington, Tenn.; three sisters, Betty Agans, Bushnell, and Elnora Smith and Alice Hodges, both of Macomb; and six grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents and two brothers.
A Navy veteran of World War II, he served in the Atlantic and Pacific Theaters.
He worked as a plumber for 45 years, and owned and operated Don and Bob's Plumbing & Heating with his son for 25 years.
He was a member of Bushnell VFW Post 1422.
Cremation was accorded. Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Saturday in Martin-Hollis Funeral Home, with the Rev. Terry Broady officiating. No visitation is planned.
Memorials may be made to the Bushnell Rescue Squad.

GALESBURG - Thelma M. Wilson, 92, 914 S. Cedar St., died at 2:04 a.m. Sunday (Feb. 22, 2004) in OSF St. Mary Medical Center.
She was born April 11, 1911, in Mason, Ky., the daughter of John W. and Eliza McCormick Morris.
She married Ellis Morgan on Dec. 19, 1928, in Williamstown Ky. She married John R. Wilson on Oct. 22, 1938, in Mason, Ky. He died May 28, 1973.
Surviving are a daughter-in-law, Alice (and Donald) Wilson, Galesburg. She was preceded in death by her parents, a son, three brothers and two sisters.
She lived in Galesburg since 1939 and worked at the former Higgins Sealtest for eight years and the former Northside Bakery for six years.
She was a member of First Baptist Church.
Funeral will be at 10 a.m. Thursday in Hinchliff-Pearson-West Galesburg Chapel, with the Rev. Daniel Siems officiating. Visitation will be from 9 to 10 a.m. Thursday at the funeral home. Burial will be in Henderson Cemetery.
Memorials may be made to her church.

CAMERON - Wayne D. "Pudgy" Wilson, 69, 1349 180th Ave., Cameron, died at 3:42 a.m. Friday (Sept. 19, 2003) in OSF St. Mary Medical Center, Galesburg.
He was born Sept. 6, 1934, in Larned, Kan., the son of Ross and Marcelline Mack Wilson. He married Shirley J. Hedden on Aug. 20, 1953, in Monmouth. She survives.
Also surviving are three sons, Wayne E. Wilson, Gerald (and Sally) Wilson, both of Monmouth, and Donald L. Wilson, Avon; three daughters, Darlene (and Ray) Pine, Oneida, Sue (and Ron) Taylor, Monmouth, and Lucy Shannon, Galesburg; 14 grandchildren, eight great grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by a son, Melvin Wilson, on Dec. 11, 1993; two brothers; and three sisters.
He was a machine operator at Gates Rubber Company in Galesburg for 26 years, retiring in 1992. He also worked as a farm hand for most of his life.
He had lived in the Cameron and Monmouth areas for 40 years. He attended school in Kansas.
He volunteered for the Visually Handicapped Center, the Salvation Army, OSF St. Mary Medical Center, and was a Boy Scout leader.
Funeral will be 1:30 p.m. Monday in Hinchliff-Pearson-West Galesburg Chapel. Visitation will be from 2 to 4 p.m. Sunday at the chapel. Burial will be in Silent Home Cemetery, Cameron. Memorials may be made to the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation.

ST. AUGUSTINE - Sally A. Wingate, Indian Point Township, St. Augustine, died at 1 p.m. Thursday (Aug. 28, 2003) at home.
She was born July 27, 1932, in Michigan City, Ind., the daughter of LeRoy and Rita Parks Cole.
She married John L. Wingate on June 17, 1960, in Galesburg. He died March 6, 1994.
Surviving are one son, Wayne Byars, Paris, France; three daughters, Jennifer Field, Corvallis, Ore., Susan Butler, Galesburg, and Lori Wingate, Kalamazoo, Mich.; one brother, Gordon Cole, Stockton, Calif.; and two sisters, Alice Scheips, Silver Spring, Md., and Marjorie Royce, New Buffalo, Mich. She was preceded in death by her parents and one brother.
She graduated from Grinnell College and worked for 30 years as a speech pathologist. She worked for 27 years for the Knox-Warren Special Education District.
Cremation will be accorded. A memorial service will be at 4 p.m. Sept. 10 at Corman Memorial Home, Avon. There will be no visitation. Burial will be in Avon Cemetery.
Memorials may be made to the Orpheum Theatre, Abingdon Public Library or the Knox County Humane Society.

GALVA - Carl W. Witte, 93, Galva, died Friday (April 9, 2004) in Kewanee Hospital.
He was born March 14, 1911, in Wethersfield Township, Henry County, the son of Harvey and Louise Lehman Witte.
He married Bernice Bergland on Nov. 27, 1935, in Toledo, Ohio.
Surviving are his wife, a niece and a nephew. He was preceded in death by two sisters and four brothers.
He was educated in Wethersfield schools and graduated from Wethersfield High School in 1929.
He was a Navy veteran of World War II and a member of the Kewanee National Guard for six years.
He worked at Boss Glove Mfg., Toledo and Peoria, and at the Kewanee Boiler Plant, retiring in 1973.
He was a member of Grace United Methodist Church.
Cremation was accorded. Graveside service will be at 1:30 p.m. Tuesday in Galva Cemetery, with the Rev. Leo Smith officiating. No visitation is planned. Stackhouse-Moore Funeral Services is in charge of arrangements.

She was born July 19, 1930, in Mount Sterling, the daughter of John and Ollie Ennen Moorman.
She married Paul Wolfmeyer on Feb. 25, 1949, in Mount Sterling.
Surviving are her husband; two daughters, Joyce (and Robert) Daymude, Bartonville, and Susan Wolfmeyer, Peoria; a son, James (and Debbie) Wolfmeyer, Peoria; two brothers, John Moorman and Raymond Moorman, both of Mount Sterling; six grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; and nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, three sisters and a brother.
She worked as manager at Norco Minimart, and as cashier at Underwood's Market, Nena True Value and Gebby's Family Restaurant, all in Peoria
She was of Lutheran faith.
Funeral will be 10 a.m. Monday in Davison-Fulton Woodland Chapel, with the Rev. Derek Riddle officiating. Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. Sunday and a half-hour before the service Monday at the funeral home. Burial will be in Lutheran Cemetery.
