GALESBURG - Loraine E. Carlson, 89, 577 US 150 E, died at 4:40 a.m. Saturday (April 10, 2004) in Seminary Manor.
She was born Sept. 19, 1914, in Omaha, Neb., the daughter of Carl Victor and Sophie Rengstorf Carlson.
She married Oren L. Carlson on Nov. 5, 1938, in Galesburg. He died Feb. 18, 1973.
Surviving are two stepdaughters, Evelyn (and Robert) Mills, Knoxville, and Jean (and Robert) Hamline, East Galesburg; five stepgrandchildren; stepgreat-grandchildren; two nieces and a nephew. She was preceded in death by two stepdaughters and a brother.
She graduated from Alpha High School.
She was a homemaker.
She was a member of East Main Congregational United Church of Christ and was a former member of the Knox County Farm Bureau.
Funeral will be at 1:30 p.m. today in Hinchliff-Pearson-West Galesburg Chapel, with the Rev. Robin Faull officiating. Visitation will be from 12:30 to 1:30 p.m. today at the funeral home. Burial will be in Woodhull Cemetery.

Cecil, Burton Sr.

MAQUON - Burton Cecil Sr., 77, Maquon, died at 7:45 p.m. Wednesday (Dec. 3, 2003) at home.
He was born Aug. 18, 1926, in Galesburg, the son of Russel and Clara Smith Cecil.
He married Phyllis Thurman on June 28, 1945, in Galesburg.
Surviving are his wife; one son, Burton Cecil Jr., Maquon; two brothers, Carter "Jay" (and Joyce) Cecil and Robert Cecil, both of Knoxville; three sisters, Lena Gooding, Galesburg, and Lila Cecil and Beverly Cecil, both of Knoxville; two granddaughters; three great-grandchildren; and nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents and two brothers.
He was raised in Maquon and attended McGirr Grade School and Maquon High School.
He served in the Army during World War II in the Pacific.
He farmed and worked for Joliff Trucking from 1987 to 2002.
He was of the Methodist faith.
He was a member of the former Maquon American Legion and Harry Philblad American Legion Post 749 of Knoxville.
Funeral will be at 2 p.m. Sunday at Maquon United Methodist Church, with the Rev. Dan Doty officiating. Visitation will be from 2 to 5 p.m. Saturday at Hurd-Hendricks Funeral Home in Maquon. Burial will be in the Maquon Cemetery.
Memorials may be made to the Maquon Fire Department.

CAMERON, Okla. - Marilyn Cheline, 74, Cameron, Okla., died Friday (May 28, 2004) in Fort Smith, Ark.
She is survived by her husband, Jim Cheline, Cameron; a daughter, Peggy Jo Hansel, Cameron; a son, Bruce Alan Cheline, Mondovi, Wis.; a twin brother, Ray Swanson, Aledo, Ill.; a sister, Neve Keese, Aledo; eight grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.
She was a member of First United Methodist Church in Cameron
She was a member of Home and Community educators.
Memorial service will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday in First United Methodist Church in Cameron. Edwards Funeral Home, Fort Smith, Ark., is in charge of arrangements.

GALESBURG - Erling Anton Christensen, 90, formerly of Maquon and Knoxville, died at 11:45 p.m. Tuesday (April 13, 2004) in Seminary Manor of natural causes.
He was born April 11, 1914, in St. Edward, Neb., the son of Anton Cortenson and Jorgine L. Jacobson Christensen.
He married Alma Beatrice Elliott on April 25, 1947, in Knoxville. She preceded him in death.
Surviving are a stepdaughter, Barbara Ann (and Giles) Ahern, Wrightwood, Calif.; a brother, Roy Christensen, Filer, Idaho; a sister, Helga Peterson, St. Edward, Neb.; four stepgrandchildren and five stepgreat-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, three sisters and two brothers.
He was raised and educated near St. Edward, Neb.
A Navy veteran of World War II, he served from 1942 to 1945 in the Atlantic, Pacific and Asiatic Pacific.
He moved to Illinois in 1939, lived in Maquon and moved to Knoxville in 1995.
He farmed in Nebraska and near Maquon, worked at Yates City Milling Company, owned and operated a grocery store in Maquon from 1947 to 1957, and worked at Gates Rubber Company for 17 1/2 years.
He was a member of United Methodist Church in Maquon, Maquon American Legion Post 1099 and Yates City Senior Citizens.
Graveside service will be at 1:30 p.m. Saturday in Maquon Cemetery, with the Rev. Larry Sheppard officiating and military honors by Ralph M. Noble American Legion Post 285 of Galesburg. No visitation is planned. Hurd-Hendricks Funeral Home, Knoxville, is in charge of arrangements.
Memorials may be made to his church or Community Hospices of America.

GALESBURG - O. W. "Bill" Church, 90, a resident of the Knox County Nursing Home, formerly of Galesburg, died at 5:15 a.m. Tuesday (Dec. 2, 2003), in OSF St. Mary Medical Center.
He was born Nov. 17, 1913, in Lebanon, Mo., the son of William Clark and Martha Ann Minze Church.
He married Lula Burgett in 1932, in Lebanan, Mo. He later married Aleene Getz in July 1942, in Chahales, Wash. She died July 10, 1987.
Surviving are a son, Jim (and Margaret) Church, Galesburg; four daughters, Vada Johnson, Tenrose, Colo., Katie Gumble, Shoreline, Wash., and Barbara (and Ed) Marquith and Christine (and Keith) Smith-Kuntz, both of Galesburg; 17 grandchildren, 27 great-grandchildren, and five great-great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by a brother and five sisters.
He was an Army veteran of World War II.
He was a carpenter in the maintenance department of the former Gale Products Division of Outboard Marine Corporation in Galesburg for 30 years. He was retired.
He was a former member of Galesburg Moose Lodge 880.
Graveside services will be at 1:30 p.m. Thursday in Oak Lawn Memorial Gardens, with the Rev. Ron Scarlett officiating. Military honors will be accorded by Ralph M. Noble American Legion Post 285. There will be no visitation. Hinchliff-Pearson-West Galesburg Chapel is in charge of arrangements.

GALESBURG - Eddie Joe Claeys Sr., 59, 711 Avenue A, died at 5:40 p.m. Saturday (May 31, 2003) at 1774 Grand Ave.
He was born June 4, 1943, in Galesburg, the son of Frank Sr. and Mae Wriedt Claeys.
He married Sandra Kay Lind on Dec. 5, 1962, in Galesburg.
Surviving are his wife; two sons, Eddie Claeys Jr. and Joey Lee Claeys, both of Galesburg; two daughters, Terri Hodges, Bloomington, and Brelinda Rusher in Missouri; four brothers, Frank Claeys Jr., Bloomington, and Camiel Claeys Sr., Maurice Claeys Sr. and Michael Claeys, all of Galesburg; a sister, Marie Hammond, London Mills; 13 grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents and a sister.
He worked as a self-employed roofer in Galesburg for nearly 30 years. He was retired.
Cremation will be accorded. Services and visitation will be at 6:30 p.m. Tuesday in Watson Funeral Home.

ALEDO - Lola B. Cooper 96, Aledo, died Friday (Sept. 26, 2003) in Mercer County Nursing Home.
She was born Oct. 2, 1906, in Knox County, Missouri, the daughter of William and Carrie Hudnut Burk.
She married Harold Rayburn Cooper on Feb. 25, 1928, in Monticello, Mo. He died Sept. 14, 1998.
Surviving are two daughters, Patty (and Dick) McPheron, Phoenix, Ariz., and Dorothy (and Glen) Bennett, Aledo; a son, Gordon (and Dorothy) Cooper, Aledo; nine grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; a sister, Bernice Frank, Aledo; and a sister-in-law, Catherine Burk, Dallas City. She was preceded in death by her parents, a granddaughter, two brothers and a sister.
She attended Colony Schools in Missouri.
She farmed with her husband.
She was a member of Mercer County VFW Post 1571 Auxiliary, the former United Presbyterian Church in Aledo and its Unbroken Circle and the former Burgess Presbyterian Church.
Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday in Fippinger Funeral Home, Aledo, where visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. Monday. Burial will be in Aledo Cemetery, with services by VFW Post 1571 Auxiliary.
Memorials may be made to VFW Post 1571 Auxiliary or the Mercer County Nursing Home.
Daum, William A.

MACOMB - William A. Daum, 76, 203 Jana Road, died at 2:45 a.m. Wednesday (Dec. 3, 2003), in the McDonough District Hospital.
He was born Oct. 9, 1924, in East Point, Mich., the son of Philip and Eva Dumont Daum.
He married Margaret StAmand on March 31, 1944, in Detroit, Mich.
Surviving are his wife; two daughters, Jane (and Tom) Daum, Lewistown, and Susan Twidwell, Galesburg; one sister, Anna Hudgins, Columbus, Ohio; three grandchildren and one great-grandchild. He was preceded in death by one brother and one sister.
He was an Army veteran of World War II, serving in Northern France, Rhineland and Central Europe.
He was a tool designer for Bower Roller Bearing Co. in Macomb, retiring in 1985.
He was a life member of VFW Post 1921.
A memorial service will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at Sargent-Worthington Funeral Home, with Monsignor Richard Pricco officiating. Private burial will be in St. Paul's Cemetery, Macomb.

MONMOUTH - Lucile J. Dugan, 92, Monmouth, died at 9:35 p.m. Monday (April 12, 2004) in LaMoine Christian Nursing Home, Roseville.
She was born Sept. 25, 1911, in Warren County, the daughter of Charles and Mary Jane Dughman Sward.
She married James Dugan on April 6, 1942, in Monmouth. He died June 4, 1975.
Surviving are a sister, Loretta Strong, Monmouth; a nephew; two great-nephews and cousins. She was preceded in death by her parents and an infant sister.
She was reared and educated in Kirkwood and graduated from Kirkwood High School in 1929.
She and her husband owned and operated Dugan's Standard Station in Little York.
She was a member of Little York United Methodist Church and the former Elks Auxiliary.
Cremation was accorded. Graveside service will be later in Center Grove Cemetery, Kirkwood. Hoover-Hall Memorial Chapel is in charge of arrangements.
