GALESBURG - Ann J. Erlandson, 93, 1250 W. Carl Sandburg Drive, died at 11:35 p.m. Monday (June 2, 2003) in Rosewood Care Center.
Hinchliff-Pearson-West Galesburg Chapel is in charge of arrangements.

Ford, Albert J.
December 2, 2003
CARMAN - Albert John Ford, 96, rural Carman, died at 2:45 a.m. Monday (Dec. 1, 2003), in the Oak Lane Nursing and Rehab Center, Stronghurst.
He was born Sept. 28, 1907, in Henderson County, the son of Thomas and Ellen Hamberg Ford.
He married Mildred Pendry on Feb. 23, 1935, in Stronghurst.
Surviving are his wife; one son, Tom (and Janice) Ford, Stronghurst; one daughter, Patricia Wood, Edwardsville; one sister, Frances Fisher, Monmouth; 10 grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by two sons, Lanny Ross Ford and John David Ford, one daughter, Mary Catherine Ford, and two brothers.
He farmed near Terre Haute and Carman most of his life.
He was a 50-year member of the former Carman Masonic Lodge; and a member of the Carman United Methodist Church.
Masonic services, followed by a memorial service, will be at 2 p.m. Sunday at the Carman United Methodist Church, with the Rev. George Knox officiating. There will be no visitation. Banks & Beals Funeral Home, Stronghurst, is in charge of arrangements.
Memorials may be made to the Carman United Methodist Church or the Oak Lane Nursing and Rehab Center in Stronghurst.

Feldman, Dave
December 3, 2003
MIAMI, Fla. - Dave Feldman, 88, Miami, Fla., formerly of Galesburg, died at 10:45 a.m. Tuesday (Dec. 2, 2003), in Grammarcy Park Nursing Home, Miami, Fla.
He was born March 6, 1915, in Davenport, Iowa, the son of Michel and Leah Isenberg Feldman.
He married Norma B. Roemer on June 18, 1941, in Peoria. She died July 7, 1993.
Surviving are two sons, Michel Joseph (and Ercelle) Feldman, Highland Park, and Jack Charles Feldman, Evanston; one daughter, Janet F. Capparelli, Miami, Fla.; and five grandchildren. He was preceded in death by three brothers and two sisters.
He graduated from high school in Davenport, Iowa in 1932.
He served in the Army for one year at Camp Walters in Austin, Texas.
He was a wholesale and retail news dealer, owning and operating Dave's Book and Card Shop in Galesburg for 40 years. He retired in 1984 and moved to Florida.
He was a member of Temple Sholom in Galesburg, the B'Nai B'Rith, and the National Association of News Dealers.
Funeral will be at 1:30 p.m. Friday in Hinchliff-Pearson-West Galesburg Chapel. Visitation will be from 1 to 1:30 p.m. Friday at the chapel. Burial will be in Brookside Cemetery, Galesburg.
Memorials may be made to the American Heart Association or Temple Sholom.

Fox, Helen M.
June 3, 2003
GALESBURG - Helen M. Fox, 83, 522 Franklin Ave., died at 7:45 a.m. Monday (June 2, 2003) at home.
She was born Nov. 16, 1919, in Galesburg, the daughter of John J. and Helen Vaughn Kennedy.
She married Rolland F. Fox on March 27, 1943, in Tacoma, Wash. He died July 18, 1999.
Surviving are two sons, Robert Fox, Galesburg, and Tom (and Marcia) Fox, Henderson; two daughters, Catherine (and Mark) Panzer, Plymouth, Mo., and Alice (and Tom) Mahalovich, Alpha; and four grandchildren. She was preceded in death by a sister and a brother.
She graduated from Wataga High School and from Brown's Business College.
She worked at St. Mary's Hospital, in the cafeteria at Costa High School and as a teller at First National Bank for 15 years, retiring in 1984.
She was a member of Corpus Christi Catholic Church and its Altar and Rosary Society, and the Galesburg Businneswomen's Association.
Funeral will be at 10 a.m. Thursday in Corpus Christi Catholic Church, with the Rev. Joseph Presly officiating. Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at Watson Funeral Home, with the rosary recited at 8 p.m. Burial will be in St. Joseph Cemetery.
Memorials may be made to the Arthritis Foundation or OSF Hospice.

Fye, Linda L.
June 1, 2004
LaHARPE - Linda L. Fye, 52, LaHarpe, died Saturday (May 29, 2004), at home.
She was born Feb. 5, 1952, in Monmouth, the daughter of William and Martha Walker Nees.
She married Carl W. Fye on May 31, 1972.
Surviving are her husband; three sons, William Fye, Monmouth, and Timothy Fye and Sean Fye, both of LaHarpe; a sister, Sally Johnson, Champaign; a brother, Tom Nees, Monmouth; and three grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, two infant brothers and two nephews.
She was raised in Monmouth and lived in LaHarpe for the past 24 years.
She worked for Methode in Carthage for many years.
A memorial service will be at 10 a.m. Friday at Banks & Beals Funeral Home, LaHarpe, with the Rev. Bruce Goettsche officiating.
A memorial fund has been established.

Gamage, Louis A.
June 2, 2003
GALESBURG - Louis A. Gamage, 85, 594 Fifer St., died at 11:47 p.m. Saturday (May 31, 2003) in OSF St. Mary Medical Center.
He was born Oct. 12, 1917, in Macomb, the son of John and Ida Vance Gamage.
He married Wilma Dorsett on July 31, 1939, in Palmyra, Mo. She died June 4, 2000.
Surviving are a son, Dick Gamage, Pekin; a daughter, Penny Gamage, Petersburg; four grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by three daughters, two brothers and seven sisters.
He graduated from Monmouth High School in 1938 and received three associate degrees from Carl Sandburg College.
He was an Army veteran.
He work as an insurance agent for Country Companies until 1969 and was an agent and claims adjuster for Gamage Insurance Agency, retiring in 1982. He then taught math at Carl Sandburg College for 11 years and at the Hill Correctional Center for eight years, retiring in 1999. He wrote five fiction novels after retiring.
He was a member of the Reorganized Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, Independent Order of Odd Fellows Military Tract Lodge 145 and Alpha Masonic Lodge.
Cremation will be accorded. Services will be at 10 a.m. Thursday in Hinchliff-Pearson-West Galesburg Chapel, with elder Lloyd Tripp and Dr. William Crisman officiating. Visitation will be from 6:30 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home. Burial will be at 2:30 p.m. Thursday at Oakwood Cemetery, Macomb.
Memorials may be made to any charity.

Gordon, John M.

UPLAND, Calif. - John M. Gordon, 60, Upland, Calif., formerly of Galesburg, died at 3:30 p.m. Nov. 24, 2003, at Pilgrim Place, Claremont, Calif.
He was born Jan. 8, 1943, in Colorado, the son of Dr. Robert M. and Roselind L. Kappner Gordon.
He is survived by special friend and caregiver, Deborah M. Armbruster, Upland, Calif. He was preceded in death by his parents.
He lived in Upland for the past 25 years; and was a mail carrier for the Rancho Cucamonga Post Office for more than 18 years.
He was an active member of Calvary Chapel Chino Valley Church.
Graveside services will be at 10 a.m. Monday in Memorial Park Cemetery, Galesburg. There will be no visitation. Hinchliff-Pearson-West Galesburg Chapel is in charge of local arrangements.

Gould, Donaldean
December 6, 2003
GALESBURG - Donaldean Gould, 85, 675 Monroe St., died at 5:10 a.m. Friday (Dec. 5, 2003), in Heartland Health Care Center.
She was born August 20, 1918, in Lamar, Mo., the daughter of Donald B. and Gertrude Stone O'Neal.
She married Edward C. Gould on Jan. 17, 1947, in Lamar, Mo. He died Nov. 25, 1997.
Surviving are a son, John C. Gould, Chicago; and a brother, James C. O'Neal, Lamar, Mo. She was preceded in death by two brothers.
She was a 1935 graduate of Lamar High School and attended Kansas State College.
She was a bank teller in Lamar, Mo. for 16 years, where she lived for 45 years.
She moved to Galesburg in 1963; and became a Welcome Wagon Representative.
She was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Galesburg, where she was a former president of the United Methodist Women and had served as chairperson of the United Methodist Kindness Circle.
She was a member of the Galesburg Women's Club, Welcome Wagon and numerous bridge clubs, and was a charter member of the Home Extension "Yearn to Learn" unit.
Funeral will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday in Hinchliff-Pearson-West Galesburg Chapel, with the Rev. Marilyn Anell officiating. Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. Monday at the chapel. Graveside services will be 10 a.m. Thursday in Lake Cemetery, Lamar, Mo.
Memorials may be made to the First United Methodist Church.

Griffith, Charles O.
December 3, 2003
ALEDO - Charles O. Griffith, 89, Aledo, died Tuesday (Dec. 2, 2003), in Mercer County Hospital.
He was born Aug. 9, 1914, in Abingdon Township, the son of Albert and Mary Ann Doud Griffith.
He married Betty Smith Bresley on Dec. 25, 1950, in Joy.
Surviving are his wife; one daughter, Patricia (and Forrest) Greer, Aledo; one son, Steven Griffith, Monmouth; one stepson, Terry Bresley, Joliet; seven grandchildren; three great-grandchildren and several stepgrandchildren and stepgreat-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents and two sisters.
He attended country schools and Keithsburg High School.
He was a World War II Naval Veteran having served in the Pacific Theater on the U.S.S. Bennett, U.S.S. Ingorsal, U.S.S. Cascade, and survived the sinking of the U.S.S. Duncan. He received an American Campaign Medal, AsiaticÐPacific Campaign Medal with one silver and three bronze stars, a World War II Victory Medal, the Philippine Liberation Ribbon with one bronze star and the Philippine Presidential Unit Citation, an Honorable Service Lapel Button and the Navy Honorable Discharge Button.
He farmed the family farm in Abingdon Township until retiring in 1976. He moved to New Boston in 1994.
He was a member of the former Lion's Club in Joy, the NFO and AARP, and Mercer County VFW Post 1571.
Graveside services will be at 10 a.m. Thursday at Peniel Cemetery in Joy, with the Mercer County VFW Post 1571officiating. Fippinger Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
Memorials may be made to Mercer County VFW Post 1571.

Robert M. Gunnar Sr.
December 7, 2003
GALESBURG - Robert Melvin Gunnar Sr., 83, 311 E. Simmons St., died at 11:05 a.m. Friday (Dec. 5, 2003) in Seminary Manor.
He was born Jan. 2, 1920, in Des Moines, Iowa, the son of John Oscar and Hulda Theresia Benson Gunnar.
He married Jean V. Kupka on Sept. 2, 1939. She died Aug. 19, 1983. He then married Kay Miller on Feb. 12, 1984, in California. She died Dec. 27, 1996.
Surviving are one son, Robert M. (and Lillian) Gunnar Jr., Chicago; two daughters, Mary Susan (and Tom) McIntyre, Peoria, and Terry (and James) Tiller, Knoxville; five grandchildren and three great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by a son, John, a grandson, three brothers and one sister.
He worked at Caterpillar in Peoria for many years, retiring in 1982. He moved to California in 1983 and moved to Galesburg in 1998.
He served in the Navy during World War II.
There will be no service or visitation. Cremation rites will be accorded. Burial will be at a later date in Susanville, Calif. Watson Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
Memorials may be made to a charity of the donor's choice.

Halsey, Patricia A.
June 1, 2004
PRINCETON - Patricia Anne Halsey, 61, Princeton, died Monday (May 31, 2004), in Prairie View Healthcare, Princeton, after battling with ALS.
She was born June 30, 1942, in Galesburg, the daughter of Charles and Edith Sholl.
She married Arlo Halsey on Dec. 24, 1969.
Surviving are her husband; three daughters, Christine (and Edwin) Lamb, Peoria, Lori (and Eric) Zeman, Tiskilwa, and Amy (and Jon) Sear, Pontiac; two sons, Robert McDonald, Peoria, and Steven (and Carla) McDonald, Abingdon; two brothers, Ronald Sholl, Newton, Iowa, and Richard Sholl, San Antonio; and seven grandchildren.
She was a homemaker, artist and a member of Tiskilwa Bible Church.
Funeral will be at 5 p.m. Wednesday at Norberg Funeral Home, with the Rev. Lloyd Doyens officiating. Visitation will be from 3 to 5 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.
Memorials may be made to MDA/ALS.
