Karen F. "Kay" Campbell

Karen F. "Kay" Campbell, age 68 , of Biggsville, Illinois, passed away at 3:15 p.m. on Sunday, June 1, 2008, at OSF St. Francis Medical Center, Peoria, Illinois. She was born on May 1, 1940 in Loami, Illinois, the daughter of Hardin and Bertha Ross Rowden.
She was raised in Loami and Waverly, Illinois. She attended Waverly Schools and graduated from Waverly High School in 1958.
Kay married William D. Campbell, on May 29, 1970, in Yates City, Illinois. He survives
Kay began working as a secretary for Franklin Life Insurance for a time. After her marriage, she was a homemaker residing in rural Stronghurst. She then worked at the I.A.A.P. in Middletown, Iowa. Upon moving to Orlando, Florida, Kay worked in food service at Walt Disney World for eight years. They moved back to rural Biggsville in 1978.
Kay is a partner with her husband at "Authorized Appliance Sales and Service " in the Biggsville area.
Kay was an active member of the Rozetta Baptist Church. Kay loved being a wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother. She enjoyed antiques, cooking and family dinners, and working in the yard, gardening and flowers.
Surviving are her husband, Bill Campbell of Biggsville, Illinois and three daughters, Anita Smith and Bruce of Biggsville, Debbie Graham and Brad of Moody, Alabama and Cyndi Campbell and Jim Stadler of Pekin, Illinois. Her son Tim Campbell of Pekin, Illinois survives. Seven grandchildren and three great granddaughters. Also surviving are three sisters, Helen Wrightsman and Marvin of Virden, Illinois, Barb Koertge and Ric of Chatham, Illinois, Peggy Dodge of Springfield, Illinois and one brother, Ken Rowden and Nancy of Emden, Missouri as well as several nieces, nephews and other relatives.
She is preceded in death by her parents, one sister, and two brothers.
Services: A funeral service will be at 1:30 p.m. on Thursday, June 5, 2008, at the Rozetta Baptist Church in Rozetta, Illinois. Interment will be in the Rozetta Cemetery. Kay's family will receive friends at Turnbull Funeral Home in Monmouth on Wednesday evening from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. A memorial fund is being established for Rozetta Baptist Church.

Frances E. Roche

Frances E. Roche, age 83, of Monmouth, passed away at 3:38 p.m., June 10, 2008, at OSF St. Mary Medical Center in Galesburg, Illinois. She was born on October 10, 1924, in rural Raritan, Illinois. She is the daughter of Timothy Arthur and Mary Winifred St. Ledger Roche. She was educated in rural Cox School in Raritan. She graduated from Stronghurst High School. After High School, Frances joined the convent in Nauvoo, Illinois, serving the Lord. Health reasons forced her to sadly leave the order. She was then employed for thirty years at Monmouth Hospital, Community Memorial Hospital, and Community Medical Center, as a cook in the cafeteria. She attended Mass every day, and she was a member of the Immaculate Conception Church in Monmouth since 1945. Frances was a member of the Altar and Rosary Society. Most of all, Frances, enjoyed spending time with her brothers, sisters, and family.
Surviving Frances are two brothers; Robert R. Roche of Monmouth, J. Donald Roche of Macomb, Illinois, one brother-in-law, Donald W. Perrin of Monmouth, and numerous nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, four sisters, and one brother.
Services: Mass of Christian burial will be at 10:30 a.m., Saturday, June 14, 2008, at Immaculate Conception Church in Monmouth. A Rosary will be recited at 6:30 p.m., Friday, June 13, 2008, with visitation to follow at Turnbull Funeral Home in Monmouth. Interment will be in St. Mary Catholic Cemetery in Monmouth. A memorial fund is being established for Immaculate Conception School.

Terry E. Meyer

Terry E. Meyer, age 60, of Monmouth, Illinois, passed away at 11:35 a.m. on Thursday, June 12, 2008, at the Cottage Hospital in Galesburg, Illinois. She was born August 16, 1947, in Monmouth, the daughter of David Eugene and Ellen J. Starkey Myers.
Terry was reared and educated in Monmouth, graduating from Monmouth High School in 1965.
Terry married Rudy Hunt on October 9, 1971 in Knox County, Illinois. He preceded her in death on July 8, 1998.
She later married Dave Meyer. He preceded her in death 2000.
Terry enjoyed working with handicap children, sewing, and was a seamstress. She took pleasure in cooking and baking. Terry was also the family hairdresser. She enjoyed playing bingo and going to the boat. Most of all, she loved spending time with her children, grandchildren, and her cat, Sammy.
Surviving are three sons David J. Hunt of Monmouth, James A. Hunt and Kim of Kewanee, Shannon E. Hunt and Crystal of Monmouth, several step children, a number of grandchildren and great grandchildren. Also surviving are three sisters Marcia L. Jenkins and Baker of Galesburg, Rhonda S. Myers and Chuck Schlichting of Davenport, Iowa, and Mary Ray and Randy of Little York, Illinois, two brothers Rodney D. Myers and Teri of Mediapolis, Iowa and Davie L. Myers and Marcia of Kirkwood, Illinois.
She is preceded in death by her parents, both husbands, one sister, one brother one niece and one nephew.
Services: A funeral service will be at 10:30 a.m., Tuesday, June 17, 2008, at Turnbull Funeral Home in Monmouth. Interment will be in the Monmouth Cemetery. Her family will be present to receive friends at Turnbull's from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. Monday evening, June 16. A memorial fund is being established.

Laura E. "Liz" Johnson

Laura Elizabeth "Liz" Johnson, 74, of Galesburg, Illinois, passed away at 2:45 p.m. on Tuesday, June 24, 2008, at OSF St. Mary Medical Center in Galesburg.
Liz was born May 26, 1934, in Decatur County, Tennessee, the daughter of Willie and Ella Black Warren.
She graduated from Decatur County High School in Tennessee in 1952.
She married George E. Johnson on March 23, 1954 in Mississippi. He preceded her in death on December 21, 1978.
Liz worked at the Maytag Manufacturing in Galesburg retiring in 1996 where she was a member of Union Local 2063. She was a member of Faith Baptist Church in Galesburg.
She is survived by two daughters, Sandra (Chris) Snowdon of Port Charlotte, Florida, Lisa ( Phillip) Crockett of Hendersonville, Tennessee, and two sons, Charles (Karol) Johnson of Milton, Florida, Kevin (Becky) Johnson of Biggsville, Illinois, one step son George (Velma) Johnson, of Burlington, Iowa, seven grandchildren, three step grandchildren, Travis Snowdon, Kristin Hanifan, Heather Busselman, Stephanie Johnson, Nick Johnson, Andrew and Molly Crockett, Brenda Nelson, Erin Haegar, Jessica Johnson and one great grandchild Kristina Snowdon, Two sisters, Mayme Kelly and Molly Little both of Tennessee and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband, parents, one step granddaughter and seven brothers and sisters.
Services: A funeral service will be at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday, June 28, 2008, at the Turnbull Funeral Home in Monmouth, Illinois. Her family will be present to receive friends at the funeral home from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m on Friday evening. Interment will be in Center Grove Cemetery, Kirkwood, Illinois. A memorial fund is being established for Faith Baptist Church or the American Cancer Society.

Melba J. Widener

Melba Jean Widener, age 78, of Monmouth, Illinois, passed away at 5:45 a.m. on Monday, June 30, 2008, at the Cottage Hospital in Galesburg, Illinois.
Melba was born on August 3, 1929, in Warren County, Illinois, the daughter of Robert L. and Edna Severs Wells.
She was reared and educated in Monmouth, attending Monmouth Elementary and Monmouth High School.
Melba married E. William Widener on October 12, 1946 in Kirkwood, Illinois. He survives.
Melba was a homemaker in her own home. For a time she worked at the Monmouth Hospital as a cook in the cafeteria. She enjoyed traveling in their motor home, flowers and gardening and playing video games.
Melba is survived by her husband William "Bill" Widener of Monmouth, one daughter Michelle Chamberlain of Monmouth, and two sons Scott Widener and Carie of Monmouth, and Michael Widener of Monmouth. Also surviving are five grandchildren, Dorothy, Dana, and Jason Widener, Brandon and Dustin Ault.
She is preceded in death by her parents, one daughter Nancy Kay and one son, William David, four sisters Dorothy Jones, Edna Jones, Gertrude Redding and Ruth Frasier and one brother, Robert Wells.
Services: A graveside funeral service will be at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday, July 5, 2008, at Warren County Memorial Park Cemetery, Monmouth. No formal visitation or calling hours are planned by the family. A memorial fund is being established for Warren County Relay for Life.

Hugh T. Martin

Hugh T. Martin, age 81, passed away November 20, 2007 in Evanston, IL. Hugh is formerly of Little York and Chicago. He was the beloved husband of the late Nancy Martin; loving father of Hugh M. (Christine), Pamela (Laszlo Palocz), and James (Matilde) Martin; cherished grandfather of Gaby, Meg, Ady and Alex; and dear brother of Helen Jean (Bud) Lampert.
Services: Interment of ashes will be 10:30 a.m., Saturday July 12, 2008, at Sugar Tree Grove Cemetery. Friends are invited to the intermenty service and back to the Martin house on the farm in Little York after the service for a time of fellowship.

Bonita Joyce Goff

Bonita Joyce Goff, age 62, of Biggsville, Ill. passed away at 6:50 a.m. on Thursday, December 20, 2007 at the Hospice Home in West Burlington, Iowa. Joyce was born on January 4, 1945, in Monmouth, Ill. the daughter of Edward and Gloria Britton Switzer. She was reared and educated in Monmouth, attending Monmouth Public Schools.
Joyce was first married to Marvin D. Hindman, Jr. She later married Richard M. Goff on December 20, 1993, in Gladstone, Ill. He survives.
Joyce first worked at Meling's Restaurant in Monmouth. She then worked at Sylvania as a lineman in Burlington, Iowa. She later worked as a cook at the Biggsville Grade School and then worked as a cashier at Boyers Meat Market. She lastly worked as a cook at Country Fun Restaurant in rural Biggsville.
Joyce loved flowers and gardening.
She is survived by her husband Richard M. Goff of Biggsville, one daughter Tammy Mason and Tim of Kirkwood and one son Jeff Hindman of Stronghurst, Two step daughter Caralea Link and Buck of Oquawka, Ill. and Maralea Wright and Dennis of Charleston, Ill. and one step son Dickie Goff and Renee of Biggsville, 14 grandchildren, numerous great grandchildren, one sister Marianne Switzer of Monmouth and one brother Carl Switzer and Jane of Monmouth, a number of nieces, nephews and other relatives.
Preceding her in death are her parents, and her first husband Marvin D. Hindman, Jr.
Services: Cremation has been accorded. No service is being planned. Memorials can be made to the Hospice Home of Great River Medical Center in West Burlington and sent to P O Box 292, Biggsville, IL 61418. Turnbull Funeral Home in Biggsville is in charge of the arrangements.

Donald K. Anderson

Donald K. Anderson, 72, of Monmouth, passed away at 3:38 p.m., Friday, January 18, 2008, at OSF St. Francis Medical Center in Peoria, Illinois. He was born on November 28, 1935 in Evanston, Illinois. He is the son of Nels Elvir and Edna Violet Loomis Anderson. He was reared and educated in Northfield, Illinois and attended Newtrier High School, graduating in 1953. He then attended Greer Technical Institute in Chicago, Illinois. Donald served his country, being a member of the United States Army Reserve. He married Linda Lee Marx on January 20, 1973 in LaCrosse, Wisconsin.
Donald was the chief engineer at the Furniture Mart in Chicago, Illinois from 1962-1985. He then moved to Miami, Florida where he was involved in building of the Centrust skyscraper, concurrently. he was also the owners representative to the building of the 96' Berger Boat. Don was then the director of facilities in a number of hospitals in the Florida area. He retired in January of 2003. He is a member of the Local 399 International Union of Operating Engineers. He was an avid wood worker and canoe builder out of his home. Don was a member of the First Lutheran Church in Monmouth. He also enjoyed fishing, camping and boating. He was the best father and friend.
Survivors include his wife, Linda L. Anderson of Monmouth, two daughters; Christine E. and Jeff Feldman of Plainfield, Illinois, and Amy L. Anderson of Hainesville, Illinois, two sons; Don K. Anderson, and Kurt K. and Mary Anderson of Arlington Heights, Illinois. Also surviving are two brothers; Nils R. and Julia Anderson of Austin, Texas, and Jon D. Anderson of Fresno, California, and six grandchildren.
Services: A memorial service will be at 10:30 a.m. on Wednesday, January 23, 2008 at the First Lutheran Church in Monmouth. Friends may call on Tuesday, January 22, 2008 at Turnbull Funeral Home in Monmouth, where his family will be present from 5:00-7:00 p.m. to receive friends. Memorials can be made to the Stained Glass Window Restoration at the First Lutheran Church in Monmouth.
