He then married Ruth Ilene Gustafson in Davenport IA on June 12, 1961. She preceded him in death in 1996. He was a section hand at the former C.B & Q. Railway for 20 years, retiring in 1964. He was a very active member of the Bethany Baptist Church in Galesburg. He is survived by one daughter, Marianne Arie of Galesburg, IL; four sons, Gary Davis of Good Hope, IL, George Davis of Yuma, AZ, Kenneth Davis of Galesburg, IL and Phillip Davis of Titusville, FL; two step-sons, Rev. John Carlson and Donald Carlson, both of Galesburg IL; four step-daughters, Barbara Carlson of Woodhull IL, Caryl Poland of Abingdon IL, Janet Martin and Lois Malcolm, both of Galesburg IL; 26 grandchildren and 25 great grandchildren. One daughter, Becky Davis, five brothers, five sisters and three grandchildren, preceded him in death.

She was a bookkeeper at Anderson Florists for 7 years retiring in 1993. She was a 1953 graduate of Northeast High School in Kansas City. She was a member of the First Christian Church in Galesburg. She is survived by three daughters, Deborah McCormick of Mesa, AZ, Kathleen Morehead of Victoria, IL and Terri Olsen of Sugar Grove, IL; eleven grandchildren and five great grandchildren. One son, David Moore, a brother and sister preceded her in death.

He then married Mildred Miller in Glen Ellyn IL in 1989. She preceded him in death in 1997. He was a Methodist minister in various cities across Illinois. He graduated from Farmington High School, Illinois Wesleyan College and the Garrett Theological Seminary in Evanston IL. He was a member of Rotary and Kiwanis Clubs. He is survived by one son, Robert Stauffer of Kalamazoo MI and one daughter, Sylvia Ulm of Henderson, IL, four grandchildren and one great grandchild. One sister preceded him in death.
Mr. Robert W. Boyden, 82, of 1145 Frank St. Galesburg, IL, died at 5:05 PM Friday December 1, 2000 at Galesburg Terrace, Galesburg, IL. He was born on February 13, 1918 in Sheffield IL to Albert W. and Jean (Scott) Boyden. He married Gwen Gunther in Galesburg in 1941. She survives. He was in banking for over 40 years. He retired as President of the Farmers State Bank in Sheffield in 1987. He was a 1936 graduate of Sheffield High School and a 1941 graduate of Knox College in Galesburg. He was a member of the Congregational Church, Lions Club and Masonic Lodge, all in Sheffield. He also belonged to the Hidden Lake Country Club and the Beta Theta Pi fraternity. He served as a Lt. Colonel in the US Army during World War II in the European Theatre. He is survived by his wife, Gwen Boyden of Galesburg, IL; two sons, Scott Boyden of Galesburg, IL and William Boyden of Kansas City MO; daughter, Rebecca Pschirrer of Rockford, IL; and four grandchildren, Robert Pschirrer, Andrew Boyden, Kara Boyden, and Alexander Boyden. He was preceded in death by a sister, Barbara Robinson and one granddaughter Jean Pschirrer.

She taught sewing at Carl Sandburg College and ran a restaurant in Abingdon. She was a former member of the Abingdon Christian Church, the D.A.R., and the Abingdon Sunshine Club. She is survived by three sons, Gene Voorhees and Hap Voorhees, both of Galesburg, IL and Rick Voorhees of Macomb, IL; five grandchildren, four step-grandchildren, two great grandchildren and two step-great grandchildren. Two brothers, Harry and Bill Forbes, preceded her in death.

Her husband, one grandson, Tony Hendrix, six brothers and three sisters preceded her in death.

She was also a member of the American Legion Auxiliary. She is survived by a companion with whom she shared her home, Julian "Jack" Hoppock of Galesburg; two sons, David Diefendorf and Michael Diefendorf, both of Galesburg, IL; one daughter, Laura Rushing of Galesburg, IL; eight grandchildren and ten great grandchildren. She worked at the former Galesburg Mental Health Center for 11 years, retiring in 1985. She was a member of the First Christian Church. She served as President and Vice President of the Galesburg Senior Citizens Club two times each. She was also a member of O.A.K.S., the former Newman Community Center and A.F.S.M.E. Two daughters, Grace Dama of Nevada and Cynthia Spry of Galesburg; one son, Roger McGee of Wichita Falls, TX; one brother, Reece Jones of Abingdon, IL; four grandchildren and five great grandchildren survive her. He was a member of Iron Workers Local 111 in Rock Island and St. Patrick's Church in Galesburg. He was a Vietnam veteran serving in the Army. Surviving are his mother, Edith Joseph of Galesburg, IL; two sons, Mark Joseph and Samuel Joseph, both of Galesburg, IL; one daughter, Mandi Stipp of Galesburg, IL; three sisters, Carol Denniston of Wataga, IL, Janet Hall of Galesburg, IL and Mary Montgomery of Marble Falls, TX; six brothers, Anthony ?Donnie? Noble American Legion Post #285 and a life member of the V.F.W. Post #2257. He was born on September 15, 1909 in Galesburg to Alfred and Grace (Wager) Verene. He married Eleanor L. Grant in Streator IL on June 25, 1936. She survives. He worked on the Burlington Northern Railroad from 1927 - 1940. He then worked for the Burlington Truck Lines for 31 years, retiring in 1974. He was a member of the Faith United Methodist Church in Galesburg. His wife; one son, Donald Verene of Atlanta, GA; one daughter, Louise Verene of Galesburg, Il and one grandson survive him. One sister preceded him in death.
Mr. Wallace L. Kelley, 77, of 581 W. Tompkins Street Galesburg, IL, died at 8:58 AM, Tuesday August 15, 2000 at the Galesburg Cottage Hospital. Funeral services will be 10:00 AM Saturday August 19, 2000 at the Second Baptist Church (305 S. Cherry St.) Rev. L. G. Trammell and Rev. Jon Sibley, Sr. will officiate. Friday at Hinchliff-Pearson-West Galesburg Chapel. Memorials may be made to American Heart Association. He was born on April 26, 1923 in Joppa IL to Elmer and Beatrice (Haley) Kelley. He married Catherine Britton in Galesburg on December 30, 1950. She preceded him in death on February 3, 1996. Survivors two daughters: Carole Hatter of Houston, TX and Kim Mason of Lithonia, GA; one son, Dale Kelley of Naperville, IL; one brother, Charles Kelley of Indianapolis, IN; three sisters, Cheryl Kelley of Indianapolis, IN, Theresa Kelley of Indianapolis, IN, and Constance Sercy of Indianapolis, IN; six grandchildren and one great grandchild. He worked at Butler Manufacturing Company for 40 years, retiring in 1990. He also worked at Knox College for 13 years. He served in the Army during World War II. He received four Overseas Service Bars; the European, African, Middle Eastern Campaign Medal; two Bronze Stars; a Good Conduct Medal; the Croix De Guer Citation and World War II Victory Medal. He was a member of the Second Baptist Church in Galesburg. A former President of the Local Steelworkers Union #2629, he also worked with, or was a member of, the Carver Community Action Agency, Habitat for Humanity, the Salvation Army, Job Corps, the Baptist Church Laymen of Peoria and the Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 2257.

Surviving him are his parents; three brothers, Justin, Riene, Shane and one sister, Nina, all at home. She was born November 8, 1903 in Victoria IL to Hepworth and Isabell (Bennett) Gaylord. She married Roy A. Chalstran in Sioux Falls SD on June 23, 1958. He preceded her in death on March 16, 1984. She was a secretary and bookkeeper for Mattson/Reynolds Electric Company in Galesburg for 30 years, retiring in October 1965. A lifelong resident of Knox County IL she was a member, Reader, and Board Member of her Church, the First Church of Christ Scientist. She was also a member of the Business and Professional Women's Club of Galesburg. Survivors include one son, Bill Grigsby of Green Oaks, IL; one daughter in law, Janet Grigsby of Green Oaks, IL; three grandchildren and two great grandchildren. One brother and one sister preceded her in death.
Miss Angela C. Sheldon, 21, of 1099 E. North St. Galesburg, IL, died at 8:50 AM, Sunday at her home. She was a member of Corpus Christi Church in Galesburg. Survivors include her parents; one brother, Andy Sheldon of Galesburg, IL; one sister, Rhetta Sheldon of Galesburg, IL; paternal grandfather, Donald "Bud" Sheldon; paternal grandmother Esther Sheldon; maternal grandfather, Frank Mangieri; and great grandparents Ethyl Carr of Galesburg and Mildred Bybee of Knoxville.
Mr. Robert L. Green, 74, of 245 N. Cherry St. Galesburg, IL, died at 7:00 AM, Sunday at his home. He married Shirley Ann Dawdy in Galesburg on April 9, 1955. She survives. He owned and operated "The Traveling Welder" for over 50 year. He taught hydraulics and pneumatics at Carl Sandburg College in Galesburg. He served in the Army during World War II. He and his father started and operated the Galesburg Amusement Park; popularly know as "Kiddieland" in the 1950s and 1960s. He designed many of the rides. He also designed material handling equipment for Gate Rubber Co. in Galesburg. Survivors include one son, Walter Green of Gunnison, CO; one sister, Elizabeth Sormrud of Brookfield, WI; three grandchildren and one great grandchild.

She married Alexander "Alec" Lawson in Galesburg on September 30, 1933. He preceded her in death on December 15, 1992. She worked as a sales clerk at the former Grants and Woolworth's Department Stores for many years retiring in 1962. She was a charter member of the First Church of the Open Bible in Galesburg. One daughter, Jane Lawson of Galesburg, IL and three sisters, Ruth Brackett and Alice Janes both of Galesburg, IL and Mildred Rutledge of Apple Valley, CA, survive her. Five brothers and two sisters preceded her in death.
