Funeral will be at 1:30 PM Wednesday August 16, 2000 at the Hinchliff-Pearson-West Galesburg Chapel. Rev. Daniel Siems will officiate. Burial will be in Oak Lawn Memorial Gardens, Galesburg IL. She married Maurice L. Krans in Galesburg IL on March 31, 1937. He preceded her in death on April 20, 1972. She was a cashier at the former Pete's Red and White Market in Galesburg for 20 years, retiring in 1982. She was a member of the First Baptist Church and the Rebecca Parke Chapter of the Independent Order of Odd Fellows. She is survived by one daughter, Linda Blair of Galesburg, IL; two sisters, Gertrude Hulslander of Cambridge, IL and Betty Mates of Galesburg, IL; three grandsons, eight great grandchildren and one great great grandchildren.

Memorials may be made to the American Lung Association. He was born on July 22, 1914 in Windmere ND. He married Eleanor Lawver in Galesburg IL. She preceded him in death. He then married Doris Pasco in Galesburg on December 1, 1979. He is survived by Wife; three daughters: Peggy Lawton of Galesburg IL, Debi Meline of Wataga IL, and Helen Richards of Puwallup WA; one brother, Bill Reese of Windmere ND; one sister, Waunita "Nita" Westhoff of Perham MN; seven grandchildren and four great grandchildren. His first wife and two sisters preceded him in death. He was an operator at Maytag for 30 years retiring in 1979. He also worked on the Suter Farms in the Wataga and Oneida (IL) area. He served his country in the Civilian Conservation Corps in Illinois.

Surviving are two daughters: Shirley Braden and Marcia Duke both of Galesburg, IL; one son, Jack Lee of Galesburg, IL, seven grandchildren and 7 great grandchildren. She is survived by he husband, Charles Blust of Galesburg IL; one son, Jeff Blust of Galesburg IL; two daughters, Charlene Sandberg of Orland Park IL and Debbie Wilhite of Senatobia MS; one brother, Bobbie Tucker of Piney Flats TN; four grandchildren and one great grandchild. She was a self-employed beautician for 30 years, retiring in 1977. She was an accomplished seamstress and artist. She enjoyed all types of crafts and needlework. A cup of coffee was always available at her home. She was a member of the Faith United Methodist Church in Galesburg and Sewing Guild International.

She was preceded in death by two brothers, Earl and Abe Clark, and one sister, Leona Clark. She was a telephone operator at the former Centel Phone Company for 38 years, retiring in 1984. She was a member of the First Church of God.

He was born on October 1, 1925 in Abingdon IL to Olin Ray and Edna (Caldwell) Wilson. He married Gloria Jennings on June 25, 1949 in Monmouth IL. She survives. Also surviving is one son: Rex of Villa Park IL; three daughters: Sandra Wilson of Bloomingdale IL, Mrs. Angelo (Susan) Mangieri of Abingdon IL and Sharon Wilson of Monmouth IL; six grand children; two sisters: Jewel Stuckey of Galva IL and Flossie Muffley of Phoenix AZ; one half sister: Helen Twomey of Kewanee IL and one half brother: Jack Wilson of Oklahoma. One brother preceded him in death. He had lived in Avon for the past three years. Prior to that he lived in the Keithsburg, Oquawka and Berwick (IL) for 24 years. He worked at Briggs Manufacturing in Abingdon for 42 years, retiring in 1988. He was a Navy veteran of World War II and a member of the Harry E. Wiles American Legion Post #381 in Abingdon. He also served as Chief of the Berwick Fire Department for several years.

He was born on January 20, 1915 in Sunbeam IL to David and Mabel (Stromquist) Blixt. He married Mabel A. Fields in Davenport IA on January 11, 1941. She survives. Also surviving are three sons: Larry D. and John A both of Des Moines IA and Jerry L. of Mountclair VA; one daughter Judith Ann Nelson of Wataga IL; 10 grand children and 5 great-grand children; and one sister: Marion Wick of Galesburg. Two brothers preceded him in death. He was a general foreman at the former Rockwell Manufacturing Plant, now Maytag, for over 40 year, retiring in 1976. He then worked for Sinclair Refining for 10 years. He was a member of the Faith United Methodist Church, the Admiral/Gales Retirees Club and the Galesburg Senior Citizens Bowling League.

He was born June 1, 1926 in Warren County Illinois to Issac Elmer and Mary Catherine (Baker) Powell. He married Jean Hite on August 5, 1950 in Abingdon IL. She survives. Also surviving are two sons: Stewart of Abingdon and Mike of Huntersville NC; on daughter: Pam Simkins of Abingdon and seven grand children. One sister preceded him in death. He had lived most of his life in St. Augustine but had also lived in the Greenbush, Avon, Abingdon and Galesburg (IL) areas. He graduated from Avon High School in 1944. He served in the Navy during World War II and the Korean Conflict. He was a construction electrician for 45 years and later worked in the maintenance department of the Galesburg Cottage Hospital, retiring on June 1, 1988. He was a member and Past Commander of the Harry E. Wiles American Legion Post #381 in Abingdon. He was a member of the Knox County Voiture #606 of the 40/8 having been Past Chef, Grande Cheminot, Grand Director of Nurses Training and Grande Director Blood Donor. He was also a past member of the Abingdon and Avon Masonic Lodges and the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers Local #51.

She married James G. Bowden in Peoria IL on September 10, 1927. He died in 1944. She was a public school teacher at Bateman School in Galesburg for many years, retiring in 1968. She was a member of the Illinois and the Knox County Retired Teachers Association. She was also a member and past president of the Artist Guild. One son, James Bowden of Galesburg, IL and one daughter, Gloria Thompson of Galesburg, IL, along with four grandchildren and eight great grandchildren, survive her. One brother and two sisters preceded her in death.

She married Fred DeWaele on November 19, 1933. She then married Wayne Whitcomb in 1963. Survivors include one son, Walter DeWaele of Castle Rock, CO and one daughter, Shirley VanDusen of West Chicago, IL. Also surviving are five grandchildren and seven great grandchildren.
Mr. William 'Bill' Sowers, 68, of 537 N. Broad St. Galesburg, IL, died at 2:08 AM, Sunday August 6, 2000 at the Heartland Health Care Center, Galesburg, IL. Private graveside memorial services will be held at the Monmouth Cemetery at a later date with Eleanor Landon officiating. Visitation will be from 6:30 P.M. to 7:30 P.M. Tuesday at Hinchliff-Pearson-West Galesburg Chapel. Memorials may be made to the Family. He was born on April 5, 1932 in Monmouth IL to Earl William and Mabel (Everett) Sowers. He worked at Gale Products for 23 years. He then worked at St. Mary's Medical Center, Wicks Lumber and R & B Distributing. He was a past member of the Galesburg Moose Lodge and the Elks Lodge. He served in the United States Air Force. Survivors include three sons: Jack and Jay Strickland both of Galesburg, IL and Johnny Strickland of Abingdon, IL. He had eight grandchildren and one great grandson.

He was born on August 3, 1911 in Mt. Pleasant IA to Albert and Luella (O'Connor) Gilyeart. He married O. Irene Biggs in Detroit MI on December 15, 1956. She died March 2, 1988. He is survived by 6 nieces: Mary Topping, Chris Crane and Jessica Topping all of Durant, IA; Pat Topping of Bettendorf IA; Amy Topping and Karen Krueger both of Moline, IL. Four nephews also survive him: Tom Tegtmeyer of Cincinnati OH, Kevin Tegtmeyer of Spokane WA, Dan Tegtmeyer of Arkansas and Joe Gilyeart of St. Louis MO. He served in the Navy during World War II. He was a member of Bethany Baptist Church in Galesburg. He enjoyed baseball and auto racing. The joys of his life were his "boys" - his dogs, Meatball and Schmedley, and the many young children in his life.

One brother, Richard, preceded him in death. He was a bookkeeper for many years. He worked at the former First National Bank and Butler Manufacturing. He then was the office manager for Allen Sales and Services. He also worked for the Inness Farms. He retired from Jacks Discount Store in 1987. He was a member of the First Baptist Church in Galesburg, serving as Treasurer of the Board of Deacons for many years. He was also a member of the Church's 50 Year Club. He was a member of the Galesburg Exchange Club serving as Treasurer for many years. He was in many bowling leagues for many years. Since his retirement he and his wife went on many bus trip excursions. He served in the Army during World War II in the European Theatre. He achieved the rank of Staff Sergeant.

She was born on August 28, 1915 in Fall Creek, IL to John and Maude (Hickerson) Kappner. She married Dr. Robert Gordon in Quincy IL on September 27, 1939. He died March 27,1967. Surviving is one son, John Gordon of Upland, CA. A former member of Bethel Baptist Church in Galesburg, she attended the Calvary Chapel of the Chino Valley. Following funeral services in California, graveside services were held at Memorial Park Cemetery in Galesburg on August 3, 2000 at 11:00 AM. Rev. She was a member and past president of the Altrusa Club and Chapter NK, PEO. She was a member of Alpha Xi Delta Fraternity.

She was a 1935 graduate of Galesburg High School and a 1939 graduate of Knox College. She was a member of Central Congregational Church, Pi Beta Phi, the Mortar Board, the Diamond Club, the Mosaic Club, and Chapter AN of P.E.O. She served on the Harrington Home Board for nine years, volunteered at Cottage Hospital and was a "Gray Lady" during World War II. She received an Alumni Achievement Award from the Knox-Lombard 50 Year Club.
She is survived by two sons, Richard Lass of Woodland Park, CO, and Steven Lass of Denver, CO; a daughter, Susan Vitale of Decatur, IL; five grandchildren and a great granddaughter.

He was an equipment operator at the Mecco Mines near Victoria IL for 35 years, retiring in 1982. He attended the Calvary Assembly of God and was a member of the United Mine Workers of America. He served in the US Navy during World War II.
He is survived by his wife, Earleen Embry; two daughters, Janis Haptonstall of Victoria, IL and Joyce Hendrix of Galesburg, IL; two sisters, Beatrice Lacefield of Caneyville KY and Pauline Burden of Morgantown KY; five grandchildren and eleven great grandchildren. Three brothers, six sisters and a grandson preceded him in death.
Mr. Curtis B. Larson, 54, of Dewey, AZ, died at 1:44 AM Wednesday February 14, 2001 at his home. His funeral will be 10:00 AM Monday February 19, 2001 at Hinchliff-Pearson-West Galesburg Chapel with Rev. William Keebler officiating. Burial will be in Woodhull Cemetery, Woodhull. Visitation will be from 2:00 P.M. to 4:00 P.M. Sunday February 18, 2001 at the Chapel. Memorials may be made to the Family.
He was born on January 15, 1947 in Rock Island IL to Ralph and Lucille (Throop) Larson. He married Carolyn Cantwell in Las Vegas NV on October 4, 1974. She survives.
He was a construction worked and belonged to the Laborers Local #538. He also worked as the New Car and Used Car Manager at Yemm Chevrolet-Galesburg. He moved to Arizona in December 1998.
He is survived by his wife, Carolyn Larson of Dewey, AZ; mother, Lucille Larson of Aledo, IL; a daughter, Tamara Cavenaux of San Antonio, TX; a step-daughter, Karen Hirsch of San Jose, CA; a son, Benjamin Larson of Marine de Rey, CA; a sister, Deb Fetters of Aledo, IL and 3 grandchildren.
Mr. Frederick W. 'Fritz' Boelkes, 81, of 1316 S. Kellogg St. Galesburg IL, died at 6:05 PM Tuesday February 13, 2001at OSF St. Francis Medical Center, Peoria IL. Graveside memorial services will be 11:00 AM Saturday February 17, 2001 at East Linwood Cemetery with Rev. Shalom Renner officiating. Memorials may be made to the family or the Parkinson Foundation at the Mayo Clinic.
He was born on February 3, 1920 in Forreston IL to Albert and Alice (Brunning) Boelkes. He married Bettie F. Powell in Galesburg on April 12, 1947. She survives.
He first worked as a manager of Welder's Supply in Galesburg for 38 years, working as a salesman for 2 years, retiring in 1984. He attended Forreston High School, Forreston IL. He was a member of First United Methodist Church, Galesburg. He was a member of Ralph M. Noble American Legion Post 285, Galesburg. He served in the United States Army for 3 1/2 years during WWII. He was a member of the Rod & Gun Club in East Galesburg and the Little John Conservation Club. He was the youngest of nine children and an avid outdoors sportsman.
He is survived by his wife, Bettie Boelkes of Galesburg IL; a son, Gary Boelkes of Knoxville IL; a daughter, Sandra DeWitt of Galesburg IL; five grandchildren and seven great grandchildren. Two brothers and six sisters preceded him in death.
Mr. Arthur J. Harrison, 95, of 674 Hawkinson Ave. Galesburg IL, died at 5:34 AM Tuesday February 13, 2001 at OSF St. Mary Medical Center, Galesburg IL. Graveside services will be 1:30 PM Thursday February 15, 2001 at East Linwood Cemetery. Galesburg, with Rev. Mike Van Acker officiating. Memorials may be made to the family. He was born on February 2, 1906 in Galesburg to Arthur and Janith (Hendricks) Harrison. He married Delia Hunt in Monmouth IL on April 11, 1925. She survives. He worked for Rowe Manufacturing in Galesburg as a welder retiring in 1965. He was a former member of the First Baptist Church.
He is survived by his wife, Delia Harrison of Galesburg IL; three sons, Arthur Harrison and James Harrison, both of Galesburg IL and George Harrison of Indianapolis IN; a daughter, Audrey Sandall of Galesburg IL; nine grandchildren, 17 great grandchildren and a great great grandchild. A sister and a son-in-law, Albert Sandall, preceded him in death.
