Mr. James O. Johnson, 69, of 995 Breezy Bluff Drive Galesburg, IL, died at 10:50 AM Wednesday March 14, 2001 at Galesburg Cottage Hospital, Galesburg, IL. His funeral will be 10:00 AM Saturday March 17, 2001 at Hinchliff-Pearson-West Galesburg Chapel with Rev. David Seitz officiating. Burial will be in East Linwood Cemetery, Galesburg. Visitation will be from 6:00 P.M. to 8:00 P.M. Friday March 16, 2001 at the Chapel. Memorials may be made to the family.
He was born on November 4, 1931 in Yates City IL to James W. and Beatrice (Bowmen) Johnson. He married Shirley Landon, and then married Marguerite Moberg on March 13, 1976. She preceded him in death on September 18, 1987. He then married Janet Christiansen in Galesburg on April 19, 1998. She survives.
He was a layout inspector at the Outboard Marie Corporation for 30 years, retiring in 1983. He then worked as a security guard for Gates Rubber Company from 1992 - 1996. A 1949 graduated of Galesburg High School; he attended the University of Illinois and Carl Sandburg College. He was a member of the First Christian Church and a life member of the Ralph M. Noble American Legion Post #285. He served in the Army during the Korean Conflict.
He is survived by his wife, Janet Johnson of Galesburg, IL; a son, Robert L. Lindberg of Des Moines, IA; five daughters, Julie Johnson of Mexico, MO, Jennifer Peach of Evanston, IL, Tammy Smith of Galesburg, IL, Janet Wittle of Raleigh, NC, and Jamie Ziegler of Belleville, IL and seven grandchildren.

Mrs. Lorree M. Eaves, 84, of 1330 N. Farnham Street Galesburg, IL, died at 9:02 AM Wednesday March 14, 2001 at Galesburg Cottage Hospital, Galesburg, IL. Her funeral will be 1:30 PM Friday March 16, 2001 at Hinchliff-Pearson-West Galesburg Chapel with Rev. Jerry Webb officiating. Burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery, Galesburg. Visitation will be from 12:30 P.M. to 1:30 P.M. Friday at the Chapel. Memorials may be made to First Church of God.
She was born on July 1, 1916 in Windom KS to Charles and Charlotte (Bengston) Peterson. She married Leslie W. Eaves in Galesburg on June 30, 1935. He preceded her in death on November 30, 1978.
She worked in the office for Dr. Lester Ernstein, Optometrist. She was a member of the First Church of God.
She is survived by a son, Charles Eaves of Galesburg, IL; a daughter, Janice Powers of Pasadena, CA; two grandchildren and four great grandchildren. Three brothers and five sisters preceded her in death.

Mr. Donald E. Hays, 57, of 231 Benner Avenue Galesburg, IL, died at 5:10 PM March 13, 2001 Tuesday at his home. His funeral will be 11:30 AM Saturday March 17, 2001 at Hinchliff-Pearson-West Galesburg Chapel with Rev. Peter Wehrly officiating. Burial will be in East Linwood Cemetery, Galesburg. He was born on May 14, 1943 in Galesburg to Elmer and Secle (Howard) Hays. He married Barbara Purkis in Galesburg in 1974. She survives.
He was a conductor for the Burlington Northern Sante Fe Railroad for 38 years. He was a member of the United Transportation Union Local 195.
He is survived by his wife, Barbara Hays of Galesburg, IL; a son, Michael E. Hays of London Mills, IL; four daughters, Beth Ann Miller of Beardstown, IL, Dawn Lynn Miller of Foosland, IL, Tiara Lynn Voeltz of Fenton, IL and Janet Kay Wehrly of Galesburg, IL; two sisters, Joan A. Cooley of Grants Pass, OR and Janice Skweres of Gig Harbor, WA; a brother, Joe A. Hays of Galesburg, IL and 11 grandchildren. Two grandchildren preceded him in death.

Mr. Glenn R. Hawkins, 93, of 1366 Rona Drive Galesburg, IL, died at 1:10 am Monday March 12, 2001 at OSF St. Mary Medical Center, Galesburg, IL. His funeral will be 10:00 AM Friday March 16, 2001 at Hinchliff-Pearson-West Galesburg Chapel with Rev. David Seitz officiating. Burial will be in Oak Lawn Memorial Gardens, Galesburg. Visitation will be from 6:30 P.M. to 8:00 P.M. Thursday March 15, 2001 at the Chapel. Memorials may be made to First Christian Church.
He was born on March 30, 1907 in Camden IL to Jason and Nancy (Hoots) Hawkins. He married Cecile E. Mahon in Knoxville IL on June 23, 1929. She survives. He was the wood working supervisor at Rowe Manufacturing Co. for 43 years, retiring in 1970. He was a member of the First Christian Church and the Alpha Masonic Lodge #155 A.F. & A. M.
He is survived by a daughter, Eleanor Gillette of Galesburg, IL, a son, Eugene Hawkins of Galesburg, IL, 6 grandchildren and 11 great grandchildren. Two brothers and one sister preceded him in death.

Mr. Larry Gabbert, 60, of 942 Dayton Street Galesburg, IL, died at 5:10 pm Sunday March 11, 2001 at OSF St. Mary Medical Center, Galesburg, IL. Private family services will be held at a later date. Memorials may be made to the family.
He was born on October 15, 1940 in Galesburg to Lawrence and Laura (Victor) Gabbert. He was a clerk with the Burlington-Northern Railroad for 20 years, retiring in 2000. He also worked at the J & J Pet Supply for 5 years. A 1959 graduate of Galesburg High School, he was a member of the Emmanuel United Methodist Church.
He is survived by a daughter, Kellee Gabbert of Galesburg, IL; a son, Lee Gabbert of Galesburg, IL; three brothers, Danny Gabbert of Monmouth, IL, Glen Gabbert of Abingdon, IL and James Rosenberg of Galesburg, IL; three sisters, Pat Ginther of Abingdon, IL, Betty Maxine Rominger of Hammond, IN and Betty Stevens of Hot Springs, AR.

Mrs. Mildred Carlson, 97, of 864 Florence Ave. Galesburg, IL, died at 2:55 pm Sunday March 11, 2001 at Heartland Health Care Center, Galesburg, IL. Her funeral will be 10:00 AM Thursday March 15, 2001 at Hinchliff-Pearson-West Galesburg Chapel with Rev. Paul Johnson officiating. Burial will be in Linwood Cemetery, Galesburg. Visitation will be from 9:00 A.M. to 10:00 A.M. Thursday at the Chapel. Memorials may be made to First Lutheran Church or the American Cancer Society.
She was born on December 14, 1903 in Galesburg to Gus and Mary (Holmes) Ekwall. She married Axel Carlson in Galesburg in 1922. He preceded her in death in 1945. She first managed the Postal Telegraph Office, and then she was the office manager at the former Knox Box Manufacturing Company, then at the Simpson Powelson Lumber Company. She retired in 1969. She was a member of the First Lutheran Church and the Miriam Guild of the Church, the Pilot Club and the Business and Professional Women.
She is survived by a sister, Jeanette Morrison of Galesburg, IL and nephews.

Mr. Richard A. James, 56, of 47 Selden Street Galesburg, IL, died at 1:01 PM Sunday March 11, 2001at Galesburg Cottage Hospital, Galesburg, IL. His funeral will be 11:30 AM Thursday March 15, 2001at Hinchliff-Pearson-West Galesburg Chapel with Rev. Norman Myer officiating. Burial will be in East Linwood Cemetery, Galesburg. Visitation will be from 5:00 P.M. to 8:00 P.M. Wednesday March 14, 2001 at the Chapel. Memorials may be made to Make A Wish Foundation.
He was born March 22, 1944 in Green Bay WI to Clark and Jane (Nyren) James. He married Kathleen Hazelton in Findlay OH on August 7, 1965. She survives.
He was a salesman for Gambles in Galesburg for 10 years, then Leath Furniture for 15 years. He served six years in the Ohio National Guard. He was an avid bowler and fisherman.
He is survived by his wife, Kathleen James of Galesburg, IL; two daughters, Debbie Barker of Galesburg, IL and Amy James of Burlington, IA; a son, Craig A. James of Galesburg, IL; two step brothers, Mike Beam and Pat Beam, both of Lima, OH; a brother, Neil C. James of Springfield, VA and two grandchildren.

Mr. William Ebbing, 67, of 1716 Bateman St. Galesburg, IL, died at 2:35 PM Saturday March 10, 2001 at University of Iowa Medical Center, Iowa City, IA. His funeral will be 1:30 PM Thursday March 15, 2001 at Hinchliff-Pearson-West Galesburg Chapel with Rev. Ron Scarlet officiating. Burial will be in East Linwood Cemetery, Galesburg. Visitation will be from 6:30 P.M. to 8:00 P.M. Wednesday March 14, 2001 at the Chapel. Memorials may be made to First Church of the Nazarene.
He was born on December 16, 1933 in Quincy IL to Ralph and Regina (Mayfield) Ebbing. He married Shirley Sholl in Galesburg on March 21, 1959. She survives.
He was an operator for Archers, Daniels, Midland Company in Galesburg for 30 years retiring in 1988. He was a member of the First Church of the Nazarene, the Elks Lodge, Keithsburg Boat Club, the Country Music Association of Galesburg and his union at work.
He is survived by his wife, Shirley Ebbing of Galesburg, IL; a son, William L. Ebbing, Jr. of Galesburg, IL; a daughter, Susan Melton of Rio, IL; two sisters, Leona M. Atwater of Galesburg, IL and Mary L. Moore of Victorville, CA; a brother, James J. Ebbing of Quincy, IL; four grandchildren and one great granddaughter.

Mrs. Laura Lee Wick, 35, of 402 Bandy Ave. Galesburg, IL, died at 1:46 PM Saturday March 10, 2001 at Galesburg Cottage Hospital, Galesburg, IL. Her funeral will be 10:00 AM Wednesday March 14, 2001 at Hinchliff-Pearson-West Galesburg Chapel with Rev. Paul Johnson officiating. Burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery, Galesburg. Visitation will be from 5:00 PM to 8:00 PM Tuesday March 13, 2001 at the Chapel. Memorials may be made to Education Fund for Megan Wick.
She was born on February 22, 1966 in Galesburg to Charles E. and Marilyn A. (Wessels) Howard. She married Gerald J. Wick in Knoxville on June 6, 1987. He survives.
She was an office clerk at Office Specialists, Inc. for 10 years. She was a 1984 graduate of Knoxville High School. She was a member of the First Lutheran Church and the Women's Issues Network.
She is survived by her husband, Gerald Wick of Galesburg, IL; mother, Marilyn Howard of Galesburg, IL; a daughter, Megan Wick of Galesburg, IL; three sisters, Kathy Hasenberg of St. Peters, MO, Deb Goedeke and Deb Johnson, both of Galesburg, IL; and a brother, Steven W. Howard of Glasgow, KY.

Mr. Kenneth 'Pete' Spring, 89, of 2345 N. Seminary St. Galesburg, IL, died at 3:53 PM Friday March 9, 2001 at Seminary Manor Nursing Home, Galesburg, IL. His funeral will be 10:00 AM Tuesday March 13, 2001 at Hinchliff-Pearson-West Galesburg Chapel with Rev. Dave Dennis and Rev. William Schlobohm officiating. Burial will be in Forest Lawn Memory Gardens, Macomb. Visitation will be from 6:30 P.M. to 8:00 P.M. Monday March 12, 2001 at Hinchliff-Pearson-West Galesburg Chapel. Memorials may be made to Rio Presbyterian Church.
He was born on October 14, 1911 in Macomb IL to Daniel E. and Bertha Mae (Kennedy) Spring. He married Marguerite De Counter in Macomb on November 129, 1933. She preceded him in death on January 5, 1980. He then married Ester DeCounter in Rio IL in June of 1987. She preceded him in death in May of 1988.
He farmed in the Macomb and Rio areas until 1965. He then worked for FS as a petroleum truck and courier route driver until 1990. He was a member of the Rio Presbyterian Church, the Rio Masonic Lodge #685 and the Knox County Farm Bureau.
He is survived by two daughters, Marcella Peacock of Chicago, IL and Pat Turner of Oneida, IL; three sons, Kenneth "Bud" Spring of Bethel, MO, Ron Spring of Galesburg, IL, and Sam Spring of North Henderson, IL; two sisters, Alleyne McGaughey of Macomb, IL and Mary Utley of San Jose, CA; 21 grandchildren; 26 great grandchildren and 2 great great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by both spouses, two brothers and one great-grandson.

Mrs. Shirley Walberg, 75, of 1414 N. Prairie St. Galesburg, IL, died at 1:55 PM Saturday March 10, 2001 at her home in Galesburg, IL. Her funeral will be 1:30 PM Wednesday March 14, 2001 at Hinchliff-Pearson-West Galesburg Chapel with Rev. Paul Johnson officiating. Burial will be in East Linwood Cemetery, Galesburg. Visitation will be from 6:30 P.M. to 8:00 P.M. Tuesday March 13, 2001 at Hinchliff-Pearson-West Galesburg Chapel. Memorials may be made to First Lutheran Church or Community Hospice of America.
She was born on May 18, 1925 in Burlington IA to Andrew M. and Florence (Rump) Larsen. She married Gordon A. Walberg in Galesburg on April 11, 1948. He survives.
She worked as a secretary and teacher's aide in Galesburg School District #205 for 17 years, retiring in 1986. She was a 1943 and 1947 graduate of Galesburg High School and Knox College, respectively. She was a member of the First Lutheran Church, the Knox College 50-year Club, the Phi Mu Sorority and the Dandy Lions.
She is survived by her husband, Gordon Walberg of Galesburg, IL, a son, Christopher Walberg of Chicago, IL, and a daughter, Mindy S. Walberg of Galesburg, IL.

Mr. Theodore R. 'Ted' Swank, 83, of 275 E. Carl Sandburg Drive Galesburg IL, died at 8:00 PM Tuesday March 7, 2001 at OSF St. Mary Medical Center, Galesburg, IL. Graveside services will be 11:30 AM Monday March 12, 2001 at Knoxville Cemetery with Lt. Rick Ray officiating. Visitation will be from 10:00 A.M. to 11:00 A.M. Monday at Hinchliff-Pearson-West Galesburg Chapel. Memorials may be made to the Family.
He was born on July 21, 1916 in Knoxville IL to Charles and Clara (Keller) Swank. He farmed in the Memphis MO area for many years.
He is survived by three sisters, Betty Derry of Galesburg IL, Mary Morlan of Wataga IL and Aurora Rigg of Altona IL; two brothers, Russell Swank of Aledo IL and William Swank of Rio IL.

Mrs. Mearl M. 'Rube' Perkins, 68, of 1221 IL Rte. 41 Galesburg, IL, died at 11:13 AM Thursday March 8, 2001 at Galesburg Cottage Hospital, Galesburg IL. Graveside services will be 10:00 AM Saturday March 10, 2001 at East Linwood Cemetery with Rev. Robert Friese officiating. Memorials may be made to the Family.
She was born on November 18, 1932 in Monmouth IL to Earl Ray and Sadanina Mearl (Stickle) Curry. She married Robert D. Perkins in Quincy MI on June 5, 1953. He preceded her in death on November 11, 2000.
She worked at Happy Joes Pizza Restaurant for ten years. She was a member of the Trinity Lutheran Church.
She is survived by two daughters, Pam Fitch of Abingdon IL and Linda Hart of Galesburg IL; four sisters, Betty Ledbetter and Jody Morrissey, both of Galesburg, Jennie Merrill of Monmouth IL and Mary Bowen of Garden Grove CA and two grandsons.

She was born on July 8, 1926 in Galesburg to Erwin and Ethel (Evans) Johnson. She married Donald J. Deets in Galesburg on July 27, 1947. He preceded her in death on July 29, 1973.
She was a lab tech at Cottage Hospital and the Red Cross for 27 years, worked in real estate for 10 years and was the business manager and partner in World Wide Travel for 20 years, retiring in 1998. She was a 1944 graduate of Galesburg High School and attended Knox College, University of Iowa and the Chicago School of Radiology Technicians. She was a member of the First Presbyterian Church, Chapter AN of P.E.O., the Altrusa Club, the Galesburg Womens Club and Soangetaha Country Club.
She is survived by two sons, Jeffrey Deets of Rock Island, IL and Donald Deets Jr. of Galesburg, IL; two daughters, Debra DeForest and Barbara Weaver, both of Galesburg, IL; a brother, Erwin Johnson of Tucson, AZ; five grandchildren and a step grandchild.

Mr. John F. Sheeley, 74, of 1145 Frank Street Galesburg IL, died at 9:45 AM Monday March 7, 2001 at Galesburg Cottage Hospital. Graveside services will be 10:00 AM Thursday March 8, 2001 at Oak Lawn Memorial Gardens with Rev. Thomas Heather officiating. Memorials may be made to a Charity of the Donor's Choice.
He was born on February 20, 1927 in Galesburg to William F. and Vera B. (Hartnell) Sheeley. He was a laborer in the Galesburg and Danville IL area. He served in the US Army during the Korean Conflict.
He is survived by a sister-in-law, Jean Sheeley of Altona, IL. Two brothers preceded him in death.

Mrs. Betty C. McGlothlen, 81, of 5533 N. Galena Rd. Peoria Heights, IL, died at 6:10 PM Sunday at OSF Saint Clare Home, Peoria Heights, IL. Her funeral will be 1:30 PM Thursday March 8, 2001 at Hinchliff-Pearson-West Galesburg Chapel with Rev. Tom Bayes officiating. Burial will be in Oak Lawn Memorial Gardens, Galesburg. Visitation will be from 12:00 P.M. to 1:30 P.M. Thursday at the Chapel. Memorials may be made to First Baptist Church of Peoria.
She was born on August 26, 1919 in Galesburg to Elliott and Carrie (Hendricks) Stackhouse. She married LaMont C. McGlothlen in Galesburg on June 30, 1940. He survives.
She was a 1938 graduate of Galesburg High School, a member of the First United Methodist Church in Galesburg, a former member of the First Baptist Church of Peoria (IL), the Violet Chapter Order of Eastern Star, the Women's Club, Lake Bracken Country Club and the DeMolay Mothers Club.
She is survived by her husband, LaMont McGlothlen of Peoria Heights, IL; two sons, Ronald McGlothlen of Elgin, IL and Thomas McGlothlen of Edelstein, IL, and three grandchildren. A brother and a sister preceded her in death.

Mrs. G. Eleanore Brown, 89, of 1250 W. Carl Sandburg Dr. Galesburg IL, died at 5:20 PM Sunday March 4, 2001 at OSF St. Mary Medical Center, Galesburg, IL. Her funeral will be 1:30 PM Wednesday March 6, 2001 at Hinchliff-Pearson-West Galesburg Chapel with Rev. David Seitz officiating. Burial will be in Oak Lawn Memorial Gardens, Galesburg. She was born on September 2, 1911 in Mt. Sterling IL to Oliver Edward and Hattie Mae (Dunbar) Snyder. She married Homer P. Brown in Rushville IL on June 17, 1934. He preceded her in death on December 19, 1968.
She was the store manager for Kirlins in Peoria IL for 22 years. A 1929 graduate of Mt. Sterling High School, she was a member of the First Christian Church in Galesburg.
She is survived by Randolf Graenzer of Paris, France who lived with her family as a foreign exchange student, a friend, William Jewsbury of Galesburg, IL and a cousin, Virginia Madden of San Diego, CA. Three brothers and two sisters preceded her in death.
