Mr. Roland A. LaFollette, 88, of 1384 N. Henderson Street Galesburg, IL, died at 5:24 pm Thursday April 19, 2001 at Marigold Health Care Center, Galesburg, IL. His funeral will be 10:30 AM Monday April 23, 2001 at Bethel Baptist Church with Rev. Lee Johnson officiating. Burial will be in Oak Lawn Memorial Gardens, Galesburg. Visitation will be from 3:00 P.M. to 5:00 P.M. Sunday April 22, 2001 at Hinchliff-Pearson-West Galesburg Chapel. Memorials may be made to Bethel Baptist Church, Galesburg Rescue Mission or the Alzheimer’s Unit at Marigold Health Care Center.
He was born on May 10, 1912 in Peoria County IL to George H. and Amber (Dawson) LaFollette. He married Ethel Savage in Toulon IL on December 24, 1934. She survives. He was a farmer and carpenter in the Knoxville and Gilson area, retiring in 1987. He was a member of the Bethel Baptist Church where he served as a deacon and was a Sunday school teacher. He also served on the board for the Galesburg Rescue Mission.
He is survived by his wife, Evelyn LaFollette of Galesburg, IL; two daughters, Marjorie Cottom of Wataga, IL, and Patricia Walker of Knoxville, IL; two sisters, Edith Geary of Princeville, IL and Marie Todd of LaFayette, IL; a brother, Harvey LaFollette of Hendersonville, TN; three grandchildren and 3 great grandchildren. Three brothers and two sisters preceded him in death.

Mr. Max E. Swanson, 89, of 967 Willard St. Galesburg, IL, died at 2:50 AM, Thursday at 594 Cypress Lane, Galesburg, IL. His funeral will be 2:00 PM Saturday April 21, 2001 at Faith Lutheran Church, Wataga, with Rev. F. Jan Bengtson officiating. Burial will be in Wataga Cemetery, Wataga. Visitation will be from 6:00 P.M. to 8:00 P.M. Friday April 20, 2001 at Hinchliff-Pearson-West Galesburg Chapel and from 1:00 PM to 2:00 PM Saturday at the Church. Memorials may be made to Faith Lutheran Church, the Alzheimer's Disease Foundation or the American Cancer Society.
He was born on December 23, 1911 in Galesburg to Earle N. and Edna (White) Swanson. He married E. Louise Olson in Wataga on June 22, 1939. She survives. He was a partner in the Swanson Seed Farms, Inc. for 70 years, retiring in 1991. He was also a federal grain inspector for 30 years. A 1930 graduate of Galesburg High School, he attended Knox College. He was a member of the Faith Lutheran Church in Wataga serving on the Church's Council. He was also a member of the Knox County Farm Bureau.
He is survived by his wife, E. Louise Swanson of Galesburg, IL; a son, Donald Swanson of Naperville, IL; three daughters, Carol Smith of Macon, IL, Barbara Swanson and Nancy Thumb, both of Galesburg, IL; a sister, Leota Rogers of Hayesville, NC; a brother, Raymond Swanson of Galesburg IL; six grandchildren and two great grandchildren. A sister preceded him in death.

Mrs. Claudia J. Wiebenga, 77, of 2153 Henderson Trail Henderson, IL, died at 2:32 PM Wednesday at Galesburg Cottage Hospital, Galesburg, IL. Her funeral will be 11:00 AM Saturday April 21, 2001 at First Baptist Church with Rev. Daniel Siems officiating. Burial will be in Henderson Cemetery, Henderson. Visitation will be from 10:00 A.M. to 11:00 A.M. Saturday at the Church. Memorials may be made to Youth Programs of the First Baptist Church.
She was born on April 22, 1923 in Chicago IL to Claude E. and Viola F. (Long) Smith. She married David J. Wiebenga in Memphis MO on May 10, 1941. He preceded her in death on August 6, 1972. She was employed by the Activity and Rehabilitation Department at the Galesburg State Research Hospital for 26 years, retiring in 1983. A 1941 graduate of Galesburg High School, she was a member of the Galesburg First Baptist Church and the Galesburg Racing Pigeon Club.
She is survived by a son, Terry D. Wiebenga of Kansas City, MO, a sister, Marian F. Hopkins of Galesburg, IL and a grandson, David G. Wiebenga of Raytown, MO. A son, Larry C. Wiebenga, preceded her in death.

Mrs. Elsie Mae Roach, 86, of 1212 Moshier Ave. Galesburg, IL, died at 2:15 AM Monday April 16, 2001 at Galesburg Cottage Hospital, Galesburg, IL. Her funeral will be 10:00 AM Friday April 20, 2001 at Hinchliff-Pearson-West Galesburg Chapel with Rev. Leila Disburg of the Valley United Methodist Church, West Des Moines, IA officiating. Burial will be in Oak Lawn Memorial Gardens, Galesburg. Visitation will be from 9:00 A.M. to 10:00 A.M. Friday at the Chapel. Memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society or the American Heart Association.
She was born on January 9, 1915 in Waverly IL to James Henry and Lydia (Everman) Davis. She married William Howard Roach in Jacksonville IL on September 22, 1933. He preceded her in death on May 19, 1976.
She is survived by a son, Edwin Roach of Brainerd, MN; two daughters, Freida Roach and Shirley Sutor, both of Galesburg, IL; a sister, Violet Beard of Jacksonville, IL; a brother, Harold Davis of Jacksonville, IL; six grandchildren and six great grandchildren. A son, Kenneth, preceded her in death in 1995. A grandson, Frank Sutor, preceded her in death in 1958. Also two brothers and two sisters preceded her in death.

Mr. Dale Walker, 75, of 686 Home Blvd. Apt. 203 Galesburg, IL, died at 8:45 AM Sunday April 15, 2001 at his home. Graveside services will be 10:30 AM Thursday April 19, 2001 at Oak Lawn Memorial Gardens with Rev. Ray Cameron officiating. Visitation will be from 9:00 A.M. to 10:00 A.M. Thursday at Hinchliff-Pearson-West Galesburg Chapel. Memorials may be made to the family.
He was born on November 26, 1925 in Topeka KS to Harry E. and Vivian R. (Robinson) Walker. He married Ethel I. Wilson in Abingdon IL on September 26, 1948. She survives. He worked at Rowe Manufacturing Company and the Schwinn Bike Shop in Abingdon. He was a member of the First Christian Church.
He is survived by his wife, Ethel Walker of Galesburg, IL; a son, Lindon Dale Walker of Austin, TX; a brother, Richard Walker of Galesburg, IL and a sister, Joann Wilkerson of Benton, IL. A brother and two sisters preceded him in death.

Ms. Linda B. Mehrnia, 52, of 1170 Skinner Galesburg, IL, died at 9:10 AM Friday April 13, 2001 at her home. Her funeral will be 1:30 PM Tuesday April 17, 2001 at St. Patrick's Catholic Church with Rev. Mike Van Acker officiating. Burial will be 11:30 AM Wednesday April 18, 2001 at Burr Oak Cemetery, Chicago IL. Visitation will be from 6:30 P.M. to 8:00 P.M. Monday April 16, 2001 at Hinchliff-Pearson-West Galesburg Chapel. She was born in Baton Rouge LA to Elmo and Audrey (Tatum) Cooper. She received a bachelor’s degree from Southern Illinois University and a master’s degree from Western Illinois University. She had been the Vocational Program Manager at Bridgeway since 1989. She was a member of the National Board of Certified Counselors.
She is survived by a friend, Lois Calhoun of Carbondale, IL, three aunts and many cousins.

Mr. Ed Craig, 59, of 466 S. Pearl St. Galesburg, IL, died at 9:45 PM Friday April 13, 2000 at his home. His funeral will be 10:00 AM Tuesday April 17, 2001 at Hinchliff-Pearson-West Galesburg Chapel with Rev. Lee Johnson officiating. Burial will be in East Linwood Cemetery, Galesburg. Visitation will be from 6:00 P.M. to 8:00 P.M. Monday April 16, 2001 at the Chapel. Memorials may be made to Knox County Humane Society.
He was born on August 24, 1941 in Galesburg to Seigel and Delia (Elder) Craig. He worked for Admiral Appliance Manufacturing for 10 years, retiring in 1993. He then was an apartment maintenance supervisor in Indianapolis IN.
He is survived by a special friend with whom he shared his life, Margaret McNeeley of Galesburg, IL; two sons, Edmund Craig of Indianapolis, IN and Tommy Craig of Wataga, IL; a step-daughter, Tami Reed of Indianapolis, IN; two brothers, Forrest Craig and Richard Craig, both of Galesburg, IL; a sister, Joan Dillon of Galesburg, IL and seven grandchildren. A daughter, Lisa Stone, five brothers and five sisters preceded him in death.

Mrs. Kimberly Renee Palmer, 42, of 1755 Knox Rd. 1250N Gilson, IL, died at 8:37 PM Tuesday April 10, 2001near Gilson. Her funeral will be 11:30 AM Saturday April 14, 2001 at Hinchliff-Pearson-West Galesburg Chapel with Rev. Randy Douglass officiating. Burial will be in East Linwood Cemetery, Galesburg. Visitation will be from 6:00 P.M. to 8:00 P.M. Friday April 13, 2001 at the Chapel. Memorials may be made to Dahinda United Methodist Church.
She was born on March 6, 1959 in La Grange IL to James H. and Frances I. (Edmonds) Raines. She married John R. "Jack" Palmer in Galesburg on July 20, 1979.
She was a 1977 graduate of Knoxville High School and a graduate of the Carl Sandburg College Cosmetology program. She was an assistant manager at the Food Pride Grocery in Knoxville IL. She was a member of the Dahinda (IL) United Methodist Church and its Church Women Club. She was a leader for the Dahinda Community 4-H and a member of the Knox County Home Bureau.
She is survived by her husband, John Palmer of Gilson, IL; three daughters, Cheryl, Brandy and Jessica Palmer, all at home; three sisters, Sandy Conture and Jacqlyn Dugan, both of Sarasota, FL, Donna McAllister of GA; four brothers, Dick Raines of Santa Cruz, CA, George Raines of Roanoke, TX, Jim Raines of Sarasota, FL and Steve Raines of Green Oak, IL. A brother and her parents preceded her in death.

Mrs. Glenda F. Dais, 49, of 1754 Morton Avenue Galesburg, IL, died at 5:25 PM Tuesday April 10, 2001 at St. Francis Medical Center, Peoria, IL. Her funeral will be 10:00 AM Saturday April 14, 2001 at Hinchliff-Pearson-West Galesburg Chapel. Burial will be in Confidence Cemetery, Georgetown, OH. Visitation will be from 6:30 P.M. to 8:00 P.M. Friday April 13, 2001 at the Chapel. Memorials may be made to St. Mary's Square Living Center.
She was born on March 21, 1952 in Somerset KY to James and Bertha (Waters) Ridener. She married James Black. She then married Edward Dais. She was a 1990 graduate of the Carl Sandburg College Nursing Program. She worked as a Licensed Practical Nurse at St. Mary's Square Living Center for 10 years. She attended the Corpus Christi Church in Galesburg.
She is survived by three sons, James Black of Norfolk, VA, Boyd Black and Larry Black, both of Galesburg, IL; a daughter, Tiara Dais of Galesburg, IL; six sisters, Joann Fightmaster of KY, Linda Hammam of KY, Geneva Jacobs of KY, Jean Komer of MN, Sue Shinnick of MN, and Brenda Stuermer of OH; two brothers, Ed Ridener of OH and Fred Ridener of KY and 5 grandchildren. A sister preceded her in death.

Mrs. Isabel 'Brownie' Morris, 85, of 1119 Hawkinson Avenue Galesburg, IL, died at 10:40 AM Tuesday April 10, 2001 at Galesburg Cottage Hospital, Galesburg, IL. Her funeral will be 10:00 AM Friday April 13, 2001 at Hinchliff-Pearson-West Galesburg Chapel with Rev. Norman Myer officiating. Burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery, Galesburg. Visitation will be from 6:30 P.M. to 8:00 P.M. Thursday April 12, 2001 at the Chapel. Memorials may be made to Cottage Hospital Auxiliary.
She was born on April 6, 1916 in Altona IL to Seymour and Alice Brown. She married Kendall P. Morris in Palmyra MO on September 6, 1941. He preceded her in death on December 6, 1959. She was a 1933 graduate of Altona High School and a 1936 graduate of the Cottage Hospital School of Nursing. She attended the First Presbyterian Church, was a member of the Galesburg Jr. Women’s Club and volunteered at Cottage Hospital and the American Red Cross.
She is survived by two sons, Gordon Morris and Ron Morris, both of Galesburg, IL; a daughter, Pam Chapman of Moline, IL; a sister, Allegra Youngberg of Lake Montezuma, AZ; seven grandchildren; two step grandchildren and two great grandchildren.

Mr. Ralph J. Rogers, 79, of 1021 S. Chambers Street Galesburg, IL, died at 2:00 am Monday April 9, 2001 at his home. His funeral will be 11:00 AM Wednesday April 11, 2001 at Hinchliff-Pearson-West Galesburg Chapel with Rev. E. Ray Aldrich officiating. Burial will be in East Linwood Cemetery, Galesburg. Visitation will be from 10:00 A.M. to 11:00 A.M. Wednesday at the Chapel. Memorials may be made to Knox County Humane Society.
He was born on July 16, 1921 in Salem IA to Ben D. and Joanna (Jones) Rogers. He married Clarice A. Stroops in Burlington IA on January 26, 1944. She survives.
A 1939 graduate of Salem (IA) High School, he attended Brown's Business College. He was a railway mail clerk and then a clerk at the Galesburg Post Office for 31 years, retiring in 1978. He then worked at the former F & M Bank and the former Foley Mortuary. He was a member of the National Association of Retired Federal Employees, Vesper Lodge #584, the Galesburg Railroad Museum and the Galesburg Amateur Radio Club. He served in the US Coast Guard during World War II.
He is survived by his wife, Clarice Rogers of Galesburg, IL; a daughter, Linda A. Townsend of Galesburg, IL; a sister, Margaret Suck of Bellevue, NE; two grandsons and two great grandsons. A brother and a sister preceded him in death.

Mrs. Betty L. Coe, 80, of 1434 N. West St. Galesburg, IL, died at 3:30 PM Saturday April 7, 2001 at Galesburg Cottage Hospital, Galesburg, IL. Graveside memorial services will be Thursday April 12, 2001 at Memorial Park Cemetery with Rev. Joe Patterson officiating. Memorials may be made to American Legion Post #285.
She was born on December 9, 1920 in Galesburg to Richard and Florence (Cheeseman) Reimer. She married Max P. Coe, Sr. in Burlington IA on June 15, 1938. He survives. She was a member of the Ladies Auxiliary of the United Transportation Union.
She is survived by her husband, Max Coe, Sr. of Galesburg, IL; mother, Florence Reimer of Galesburg, IL; two sons, Joseph R. Coe of Galesburg, IL and Max P. Coe, Jr. of Tarpon Springs, FL; a daughter, Lana G. Danke of Phoenix, AZ; a sister, Marge Morrison of Galesburg, IL; six grandchildren; seven great grandchildren and three great great grandchildren. His father and a brother preceded him in death.

Mr. Donald E. Hiatt, 62, of 131 Bandy Ave. Galesburg, IL, died at 5:30 PM Tuesday April 3, 2001 at 588 W. Tompkins, Galesburg IL. His funeral will be 11:30 AM Friday April 6, 2001 at Hinchliff-Pearson-West Galesburg Chapel with Rev. Jill Vivroux officiating. Burial will be in East Linwood Cemetery, Galesburg. Visitation will be from 6:00 P.M. to 8:00 P.M. Thursday April 5, 2001 at the Chapel. Memorials may be made to Al-Anon or America Cancer Society.
He was born on September 6, 1938 in Wataga IL to Guy G. and Rosella M. (Stratton) Hiatt. He married Doris Elaine Longbein in Mendota IL on April 12, 1958. She survives.
He was a 1956 graduate of Galesburg High School. He worked 43 years for the Burlington Northern Railroad, retiring in 1999. He was a member of Faith Lutheran Church in Wataga, a Cub Scout and Boy Scout Leader. He had been a member of the Abingdon (IL) Kiwanis Club and the Mendota (IL) Moose Lodge.
He is survived by his wife, Doris Hiatt of Galesburg, IL; mother, Rosella Hiatt of Galesburg; a daughter, Clarice "Carrie" Gabriel of Abingdon, IL; four sons, David Hiatt and Steve Hiatt, both of Galesburg, IL, Jim Hiatt and John Hiatt, both of Whiteman AFB, MO; two sisters, Dorothy Gray of Knoxville, IL and Diane Hiatt of Galesburg, IL; a brother, Danny Hiatt of Glendale, AZ and fivce5 grandchildren. His father preceded him in death.

Mrs. Catherine E. "Cathy" Hoots, 62, of 1505 Meadow Drive Galesburg, IL, died at 7:55 AM Tuesday April 3, 2001 at Galesburg Cottage Hospital, Galesburg, IL. Her funeral will be 10:00 AM Saturday April 7, 2001 at Hinchliff-Pearson-West Galesburg Chapel with Rev. Robert Clark officiating. Burial will be in East Linwood Cemetery, Galesburg. Memorials may be made to American Heart Association.
She was born on December 22, 1938 in Williamsfield IL to Derald and Maida (Stevens) Lewis. She married Ross Curtis. She then married John Hoots in Galesburg on December 21, 1981. He survives.
She was a nurse's aide and caretaker at area nursing homes. She also worked several years with the Visiting Nurses Association.
She is survived by her husband, John Hoots of Galesburg, IL; four sons, Jeff Curtis of East Peoria, IL, Roger Stewart of Galesburg, IL, Ron Stewart of Phoenix, AZ and Stepson, Brian Hoots of Lowery City MO; two brothers, John Lewis of Macomb, IL and Jim Lewis of Galesburg IL; three sisters, Barb Ryder of Osage Beach, MO, Dorothy Cowley of Chillicothe, IL and Louise Moore of Atkinson, IL; two daughters, Tammy Atchley of Florida and Julie Jones of Peoria, IL; two stepdaughters, Rena Hutchinson and Crystal McCaw, both of Galesburg IL; 15 grandchildren and two great grandchildren. Her parents and two sisters preceded her in death.

Mr. Robert Lee Basley, 83, of 1725 Harrison St. Galesburg, IL, died at 1:15 AM Thursday March 30, 2001 at OSF St. Mary Medical Center, Galesburg, IL. His funeral will be 12:30 PM Thursday April 5, 2001 at Star of Bethlehem Church with Rev. Lugene Finley officiating. Burial will be in Oak Lawn Memorial Gardens, Galesburg. Visitation will be from 11:30 A.M. to 12:30 A.M. Thursday at the Church. Memorials may be made to the Star of Bethlehem Church.
He was born on July 14, 1917 in Greenwood MS to Jeff and Lula Basley. He married Thelma Thomas in Chicago IL on April 4, 1936. She survives.
He was a press operator and set up man at Butler Manufacturing Company for many years, retiring in 1982. He was a member of the Star of Bethlehem Church. He was a 33rd degree Mason from the Prince Hall North Star Masonic Lodge of Chicago.
He is survived by his wife, Thelma Basley of Galesburg, IL; three daughters, Thelma Basley and Geraldine Bowie, both of Clinton, MS and Mildred Harris of Galesburg, IL, several nieces and nephews, 12 grandchildren and 11 great grandchildren. A son, Fred Basley, 1 brother and four sisters preceded him in death.
