Mrs. Mary Alice Stites, 73, of 280 E. Losey St. Galesburg, IL, died at 11:22 AM Saturday at Heartland Health Care Center, Galesburg, IL. Her funeral will be 1:30 PM Thursday June 21, 2001 at Hinchliff-Pearson-West Galesburg Chapel with Rev. Robin Faull officiating. Burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery, Galesburg. Visitation will be from 12:30 P.M. to 1:30 P.M. Thursday at the Chapel. Memorials may be made to East Main Congregational United Church or the Boy Scouts of America.
She was born on November 9, 1927 in Perry IL to Charles and Grace (Dunham) Wilkins, Sr. She married Harold Stites in Galesburg on June 6, 1948. He preceded her in death on October 12, 1980.
She was a flooring contractor with Stites Floor Covering in Galesburg for 32 years. She retired in 1980. She had also worked for Aetna Life Insurance Company in San Francisco, CA in 1947. She graduated from Galesburg High School in 1945 and attended Carl Sandburg College. She was a member of East Main Congregational United Church of Christ, Galesburg and had served many roles there including being the material aids chairman. She was a dedicated volunteer serving the Migrant Day Care Center in Peoria, the Galesburg Area R.E.A.C.T., the American Red Cross, and Boy Scout Troop 207 in Galesburg for 40 years.
She is survived by two daughters, Julie Quismondo of Galesburg, IL and Mary Stites of Berwyn, IL; a sister, Marjorie Ryan of Henderson, IL; two brothers, Buddy Wilkins and John Wilkins, both of Galesburg, IL; five grandchildren and a great grandchild. Two brothers preceded her in death.

Mrs. Sally J. Hankins, 60, of Henderson, IL, died at 8:37 PM Thursday June 14, 2001 at OSF St. Mary Medical Center, Galesburg, IL. Visitation will be from 6:30 P.M. to 8:00 P.M. Tuesday June 19, 2001 at Hinchliff-Pearson-West Galesburg Chapel. Memorials may be made to Diabetes Foundation.
She was born on April 26, 1941 in Galesburg to Ralph and Helene (Norquist) Duncan. She married Rex Sallee in Galesburg in 1961. She then married Gerald W. Hankins in Galesburg in 1989. He survives.
She was a homemaker living in the Galesburg, Henderson, Gerlaw and Coldbrook areas. She was a 1959 graduate of Galesburg High School and an active member at Coldbrook Christian Church and Parents without Partners. She also attended the Grace Episcopal Church in Galesburg.
She is survived by her husband, Gerald Hankins of Henderson, IL; three sons, Jeff Sallee of Lynn Center, IL, Scott Sallee and Todd Sallee, both of Galesburg, IL; a daughter, Susan Davis of Henderson, IL; two step-sons, David Hankins and Mike Hankins, both of Baltimore, MD; a step-daughter, Ann Marie Hankins of Baltimore, MD; a sister, Verla Lashbrook of Galesburg, IL; eight grandchildren and seven step-grandchildren.

Mrs. Marcella J. Mann, 87, of 275 E. Carl Sandburg Drive Galesburg, IL, died at 9:47 AM Wednesday June 13, 2001 at Galesburg Cottage Hospital, Galesburg, IL. A memorial service will be held in California at a later date. Memorials may be made to Marigold Healthcare Center Activity Department.
She was born on September 26, 1912 in Alton IL to George F. and Josephine (Schneider) Burger. She married William J. Mann in Galesburg in 1950. He preceded her in death in 1970.
She worked as a cook and bartender for the former 2100 Club and the 7th Ward Tap both in Galesburg for several years. She was a member of t the Moose Lodge in Chula Vista, CA and a member of the Fraternal Order of Eagles in both Chula Vista and Galesburg. She was of the Catholic faith. She lived in California for 34 years and has lived in Galesburg since 1994.
She is survived by three daughters, Marjorie Alexander of Galesburg, IL, Nancy Anderson of Montrose, MN and Stephanie Carlson of San Jose, CA; a son, Eugene Lindley of Panama City Beach, FL; 17 grandchildren, 25 great grandchildren and a great great grandchild. Three brothers and a sisters preceded her in death.

Mr. John H. Wilson, Jr., 81, of 898 Monroe Street Galesburg, IL, died at 6:21 AM Thursday June 14, 2001 at Galesburg Cottage Hospital, Galesburg, IL. Private family services will be Monday June 18, 2001 at Oakland Cemetery, Keokuk, IA. Visitation will be from 6:00 P.M. to 8:00 P.M. Friday June 15, 2001 at Hinchliff-Pearson-West Galesburg Chapel. Memorials may be made to First Presbyterian Church or Evening Lions Club.
He was born on September 3, 1919 in Keokuk IA to Dr. J. Hiram and Irene (Willets) Wilson. He married Miriam J. "Mimi" Harness in Iowa City IA on September 29, 1944. She survives.
He was assistant vice president and farm manager at the former First National Bank and Trust Company in Galesburg for 28 years. He retired in 1985. He graduated from Keokuk High School in 1938 and from Iowa State University in 1949. He was a member of First Presbyterian Church, Galesburg. He was a member of Evening Lions Club and Lake Bracken Country Club, both in Galesburg. He was a World War II Army Air Corps veteran. He had lived in Galesburg since 1957.
He is survived by his wife, Miriam Wilson of Galesburg, IL; a son, J. Mark Wilson of Galesburg, IL; a grandchild and a step-grandchild. A brother, three sisters and a son, J. Hiram Wilson III, preceded him in death.

Mr. Claude E. Piggee, Jr., 62, of 349 W. South Street Galesburg, IL, died at 10:55 AM Wednesday June 13, 2001 at Heartland Health Care Center, Galesburg, IL. His funeral will be 1:00 PM Saturday June 16, 2001 at Hinchliff-Pearson-West Galesburg Chapel with Mrs. Louise Piggee officiating. Burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery, Galesburg. Memorials may be made to Galesburg House of Prayer.
He was born on October 17, 1938 in Des Moines IA to Claude E. and Doris J. (Shoots) Piggee, Sr. He married Louise Wilson in Galesburg on June 18, 1966. She survives.
He was a welder at Butler Manufacturing Company, Galesburg for 31 1/2 years. He was also a announcer for Galesburg radio station WGIL for 22 years. He had been a professional football player. He graduated from high school in Des Moines, Iowa. He attended Oceanside Community College in California. He served in the US Marine Corps for 4 years. He moved to Galesburg in 1965. He was a coach of the Junior Football League, Galesburg.
He is survived by his wife, Louise Piggee of Galesburg, IL; his mother, Doris Piggee of Des Moines, IA; a son, Casey Piggee of Tulsa, OK; a daughter, Janeese Piggee of Dallas, TX; a sister, Arvene Piggee of San Francisco, CA; a brother, James Piggee of Des Moines, IA; a grandson, Jason, and a great grand daughter, Bianca. His father, a sister and a great grandson preceded him in death.

Mr. John Reece Hunter, 78, of 1331 Frank Street Galesburg, IL, died at 10:20 AM Wednesday June 13, 2001 at Galesburg Cottage Hospital, Galesburg, IL. Memorial services will be 2:00 PM Monday June 18, 2001 at Federated Church in Avon IL with Rev. Jon Prain officiating. Burial will be in Avon Cemetery, Avon IL. Visitation will be from 1:30 P.M. to 2:00 P.M. Monday at the Church. Memorials may be made to Avon Public Library or Avon Summer Baseball Program.
He was born on September 1, 1922 in Avon IL to Madison Reece and Edna (Case) Hunter. He married Martha Georgia Carrico in Elkhart IN on May 17, 1947. She survives.
He worked for Intra State Telephone Company/Centel as an installer from 1948-1986 when he retired. He lived in Avon IL his entire life until 1996 when he moved to Galesburg. He graduated from Avon High School. He served in the US Army Air Corps for 5 years during World War II. He played in the Air Force Marching Band and the Air Force Jazz Band. He played in bands throughout Western Illinois as a Jazz Trombonist for several years.
He is survived by his wife, Martha Hunter of Galesburg, IL; a son, Thomas Hunter of Boonville, CA; a daughter, Susan Pearce of Schaumburg, IL; a sister, Harriett Munson of Canton, NY; nieces and nephews; five grandchildren, and a great grandchild.

Mr. M. Luverne "Chick" Carlson, 76, of 2766 Springer Rd. Apt. 22 Galesburg, IL, died at 4:19 PM Monday June 11, 2001 at OSF St. Mary Medical Center, Galesburg, IL. Memorial services will be 12:00 PM Thursday June 14, 2001 at Hinchliff-Pearson-West Galesburg Chapel with Rev. Mike Van Acker officiating. Burial will be in Forest Lawn in Hollywood Hills, Los Angeles.
He was born on January 24, 1925 in Galesburg to Oscar and Minnie (Hoaglund) Carlson. He married Virginia Hall in Las Vegas NV in 1950. She preceded him in death on May 9, 1995. He was a machinist and too and die maker for 30 years, retiring in 1991. He was a member of the Galesburg Moose Lodge #880 and served in the Army Air Force during World War II.
He is survived by two sons, Mark Carlson of St. Peters, MO and Mike Carlson of Huntington Beach, CA; a sister, Lynette Johnson of Galesburg, IL and 12 grandchildren.

Mrs. Della Mae Bramlett, 83, of 418 Olive Street Galesburg, IL, died at 8:50 PM Monday June 1, 2001 at her home. Private family graveside services will be Friday June 15, 2001 at Oak Lawn Memorial Gardens with Rev. Robert Bailey officiating. Visitation will be from 6:30 P.M. to 8:00 P.M. Saturday at Hinchliff-Pearson-West Galesburg Chapel.
She was born on October 13, 1917 in Biggers AR to John L. and Clara J. (Carter) Anderson. She married Coleman W. Bramlett near Reno AR on August 24, 1935. He preceded her in death on November 10, 1988. She and her husband farmed west of Galesburg for 41 years. She attended the Apostolic Tabernacle in Galesburg.
She is survived by three daughters, June Hatch and Joan Howerton, both of Galesburg, IL and Twyla Taylor of Pendleton, OR; a sister, Vista Cox of Abingdon, IL; six grandchildren; sixteen great grandchildren and a great great grandchild. Seven brothers and a great great grandson preceded her in death.

Mr. William B. 'Bill' Hudgel, 76, of 1880 Baird Ave. Galesburg, IL, died at 5:20 PM Saturday June 9, 2001 at OSF St. Mary Medical Center, Galesburg, IL. His funeral will be 1:30 PM Wednesday June 13, 2001 at Hinchliff-Pearson-West Galesburg Chapel with Rev. Shalom Renner officiating. Burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery, Galesburg, with military honors being provided by the Ralph M. Noble American Legion Post #285. Visitation will be from 6:30 P.M. to 8:00 P.M. Tuesday June 12, 2001 at the Chapel with the Alpha Masonic Lodge providing Masonic services at 8:00 PM. Memorials may be made to Galesburg Athletic Booster Club.
He was born on February 20, 1925 in Fairfield IA to Clyde and Helen (Gire) Hudgel. He married Betty Berry in Galesburg on October 10, 1948. She survives. He worked for Dohrn Transfer for 37 years. He also worked in the Men's Department at J.C. Penney for 12 years, retiring in 1999. He was a 1943 graduate of Galesburg High School, a member of the First United Methodist Church, the Galesburg Booster Club and the Ralph M. Noble American Legion Post #285. He was also a 50 year member of the Alpha Masonic Lodge and a past Worthy Patron in the Order of Easter Star. He served in the U.S. Navy.
He is survived by his wife, Betty Hudgel of Galesburg, IL; two daughters, Debbie, and Jim, Savory and Laura, and John, Shay, both of Galesburg, IL; a sister, Kathleen Butcher of Galesburg and six grandchildren. A brother and a sister preceded him in death.

Mrs. L. Ruth Horn, 71, of 1159 Family Ct. Galesburg, IL, died at 5:38 AM Saturday June 9, 2001 at Galesburg Cottage Hospital, Galesburg, IL. Memorial services will be 10:00 AM Wednesday June 13, 2001 at Hinchliff-Pearson-West Galesburg Chapel with Rev. George Terry and Rev. Mark Horn officiating. Burial will take place at a later date. Visitation will be from 6:30 P.M. to 8:00 P.M. Tuesday June 12, 2001 at the Chapel. Memorials may be made to Community Hospice of America, the American Diabetes Foundation or the Costello Terrace Activity Fund.
She was born on May 7, 1930 in Larchland IL to Ernie and Ruth (McMillan) Albert. Following the death of her mother at the age of 6 weeks, she was placed in the care of Charlie and Marie Wainman and was raised as their daughter. Her mother Marie Wainman of Monmouth survives. She married A. Eugene "Gene" Horn in Cameron IL on November 7, 1954. He survives.
She was a secretary working first for Cronin Insurance Agency in Galesburg. She then worked for Galesburg School District 205 at Silas Willard Elementary School and Lincoln Middle School. She then worked at Fidelity Federal Bank for 11 years and retired from there in October of 1989. She was past president of Insurance Women of Galesburg. Member of American Business Women's Association. She had served as the secretary and treasurer of the Northgate Summer Mixed League for several years. She graduated from Roseville High School in 1948 and attended Brown's Business College in Galesburg. She was of Methodist faith.
She is survived by her husband, A. Eugene Horn of Galesburg, IL; her mother, Marie Wainman of Monmouth, IL; two sons, Guy, and Barb, Horn of Alpha, IL and Mark, and Chris, Horn of Hamilton, IL; two daughters, Gloria, and Jim, Briggs of Wataga, IL and Lorie, and Gene, Briggs of Galesburg, IL; a sister, Helen Johnson of Aurora, IL; two brothers, Kermit Wainman of Galesburg, IL and Cecil Albert of Monmouth, IL; eleven grandchildren; 2 step-grandchildren and eight step-great grandchildren. Her natural parents, father, Charlie Wainman, three brothers and three sisters preceded her in death.

Mr. Everett H. Brown, 70, of 2289 Knox Rd. 1000E Oneida, IL, died at 10:00 PM Wednesday June 6, 2001 at Barnes Jewish Hospital, St. Louis, MO. His funeral will be 10:00 AM Monday June 11, 2001 at Cameron Christian Church with Rev. Don Reynolds officiating. Burial will be in Silent Home Cemetery, Cameron. Visitation will be from 5:00 P.M. to 8:00 P.M. Sunday June 10, 2001 at Hinchliff-Pearson-West Galesburg Chapel. Memorials may be made to Barnes Lodge, Barnes Jewish Hospital Transplant Unit or the Galesburg Rescue Mission.
He was born on October 4, 1930 in Monmouth IL to Harry and Grace (House) Brown. He married Alyce Tinkham in Cameron IL on June 19, 1952. She survives.
He was a farmer in rural Oneida since 1955. He graduated from Galesburg High School in 1948 and attended Western Illinois University, Macomb. He was a double lung transplant recipient in 1994 at Barnes Hospital, St. Louis. He was active in the Knox County Pork Producers Association, Oneida-Wataga Fire Protection District, Supervisor of Sparta Township, Knox County Board of Supervisors and was a member and past president of Oneida Telephone Exchange. He was an Army veteran of the Korean Conflict.
He is survived by his wife, Alyce Brown of Oneida, IL; a son, Keith, and Diane, Brown of Oneida, IL; a daughter, Debbie, and Paul, Phillip of Leroy, IL; a brother, Charles Brown of Galesburg, IL; a sister, Louise Hogan of Greenwood, IN; four grandsons, Aaron, Austin, Addison and Blair Phillips of Leroy IL; two step-grandchildren, Candie Myre and Kelly Callahan, and one step-great-granddaughter, Cassidy Myre, all of Tomahawk WI.

Mr. J. Bradley Chandler, 78, of 1440 Knox Highway 12 Dahinda, IL, died at 9:15 AM Thursday June 7, 2001 at OSF St. Mary Medical Center, Galesburg, IL. His funeral will be 12:30 PM Saturday June 9, 2001 at Hinchliff-Pearson-West Galesburg Chapel with Rev. Norman Myer officiating. Burial will be in Oak Lawn Memorial Gardens, Galesburg. Visitation will be from 11:00 A.M. to 12:30 P.M. Saturday at the Chapel. Memorials may be made to First Presbyterian Church or the Knox County Nursing Home.
He was born on August 9, 1922 in Ketarrah KY to Bradley and Mary (Evans) Chandler. He married Lorna Van Horssen who preceded him in death. He then married Bonnie J. Farquer Cowley in Galesburg on August 2, 1975. She survives.
He owned and operated Park Drive Dairy and Swedoughs in Galesburg for 30 years. He later worked as a realtor for Dick Rozynek Realty, Galesburg. He retired in 1988. He had lived in Galesburg most of his life. He graduated from high school in Gary, IN and from DePaul University. He was a member of First Presbyterian Church, Galesburg and served as a deacon of the church. He was a member of Galesburg Lion's Club. He was a 50 year member of Alpha Masonic Lodge and the Shriner's. He was a member of the Investment Club, Soangetaha Country Club, and the Galesburg Area Chamber of Commerce. He was a flight instructor in the United States Air Force.
He is survived by his wife, Bonnie Chandler of Dahinda, IL; a step-daughter, Lynne Anderson of Galesburg, IL; a step-son, Michael Cowley of Kewanee, IL; a brother, Tom Chandler of Gary, IN; two grandchildren and two great grandchildren.
