Mrs. Catherine L. Hardy, 87, formerly of Galesburg IL died at 12:42 PM Thursday June 28, 2001 at Galesburg Cottage Hospital, Galesburg, IL. Graveside services will be 10:00 AM Monday July 2, 2001 at East Linwood Cemetery, Galesburg, with Rev. Thomas Heather officiating. Visitation will be from 9:00 A.M. to 10:00 A.M. Monday at Hinchliff-Pearson-West Galesburg Chapel. Memorials may be made to American Cancer Society.
She was born on October 14, 1913 in Magnolia IN to August and Lola Mae (Allen) Senn. She married Leroy A. Hardy in Lacon IL on October 31, 1932. He preceded her in death on May 27, 1993. She worked at the former Outboard Marie Corporation for 23 years, retiring in 1976. She was a member of the First United Presbyterian Church and its Friendship Class. She also belonged to the Machinist's Union Retirement Club.
She is survived by two sons, Allen Hardy of Huntsville, AL and Garreth Hardy of Galesburg, IL, two grandsons, Gerald Hardy of Galesburg IL and Lonnie Hardy of Monmouth IL and two great-grandchildren.
Mr. Larry D. Lovitt, 56, of 2446 N. Seminary Street Galesburg, IL, died at 7:09 PM Wednesday June 27, 2001 at Methodist Medical Center, Peoria, IL. His funeral will be 11:30 AM Monday July 2, 2001 at Hinchliff-Pearson-West Galesburg Chapel with Rev. Milton Marquith officiating. Burial will be in East Linwood Cemetery, Galesburg. He was born on April 4, 1945 in Galesburg to LeRoy and Grace (Boon) Lovitt. He married Sandra K. Motz in Galesburg on December 7, 1963. She survives. He was a machinist at Maytag for 33 years, retiring in 1999. He then worked at Southard's Car Wash. He was a member of Machinists and Aerospace Workers Local #2063 and the Street Rodder Car Club. He was a demolition derby driver for over 20 years.
He is survived by his wife, Sandra Lovitt of Galesburg, IL; two sons, Danny Lovitt and Scotty Lovitt, both of Galesburg, IL; a brother, Donald Lovitt of Galesburg, IL; three sisters, Dixie Dexter of Galesburg, IL, Dorothy Gardner of Knoxville, IL and Patty Spence of TN and three grandchildren, Levi, Ashley and Darin Lovitt, all of Galesburg. A 1/2 brother preceded him in death.

She was born on February 19, 1920 in Steubenville OH to Marc L. and Amber (Carley) Parsons. She married Daniel J. Roberts in Little Rock AR in 1942. He preceded her in death in 1996. She was a lifelong reader and miniaturist. She was a 1937 graduate of Galesburg High School and a 1941 graduate of Knox College. She was a member of the Unitarian Universalist Church, Pi Beta Phi, PEO Chapter NH, Sorosis Club, The Geniuses, the Peoria Area Miniature Society and the Everton Book Club.
She is survived by a son, Daniel Roberts of Newark, CA, a daughter, Carley Robison of Galesburg, IL, two friends, Karen and Melissa Bailey who cared fro her in her last years and four grandchildren. Genisio of IN, Kenneth Naslund of Oneida, IL, and Lydia Olin of Woodhull, IL.

She was born on March 12, 1906 in Cambridge IL to Charles and Florence (Brewer) Markham. She married Charles H. Schroeder in Peoria IL on November 6, 1922. He preceded her in death on June 14, 1966. She was an assembly worker for Guardian Light Manufacturing Company, Oak Park, IL for many years. She retired in 1968. She returned to Galesburg in 1973. She attended Wataga IL schools. She was a member of the former United Brethren Church in Henderson, IL.
She is survived by a granddaughter, Penny Leonhard of Stone Mountain, GA and three grandsons, Charles Sneddon of Galesburg, IL, James Sneddon of Schaumburg, IL and Michael Sneddon of Mattoon, IL, 15 great grandchildren and 3 great great grandchildren. A daughter and three brothers preceded her in death.

He was born on July 8, 1951 in Galesburg IL to Glen G. and Shirley L. (Stegall) Hoffman. He was a self-employed general contractor in the Galesburg and Knoxville, IL area for several years. He moved to Myrtle Beach 15 years ago and was in real estate sales there. He was a 1969 graduate of Knoxville High School. He attended Carl Sandburg College, Galesburg. He was a Vietnam era Army veteran, serving state side.

She was born on February 21, 1900 in Eureka Springs AR to Walter and Anna (Betten) Herod. She married Reimer Wyatt Bruington in Eureka Springs AR in 1921. He preceded her in death in 1951. She managed the family farm in the Alexis area for 50 years, retiring in 1994. She was a member of the First Presbyterian Church in Galesburg, the Galesburg American Legion Auxiliary and the Women of the Moose. She was the oldest of the Alexis IL World War II Mothers.
She is survived by four daughters, Margaret Fraser of San Clemente, CA, Louise Terhune of Arlington Heights, IL, Susan Unger and Virginia Woodrow, both of Galesburg, IL, 18 grandchildren, 38 great grandchildren, 2 great great grandchildren. A son, Reimer Walter Bruington, and a twin brother preceded her in death.

She was born on November 26, 1915 in near Alexis IL to Carl John and Victoria (Nelson) Johnson. She married Arthur C. Watters in Davenport IA on February 24, 1938. He preceded her in death on March 1, 1980. She was a member of the Messiah Lutheran Church in Henderson Grove IL and participated in its Choir. She was a member of the Henderson Women's Club and the Lutheran Church Women.
She is survived by a daughter, Susan Mackie of Williamsfield, IL; three sons, Harold Watters and LeRoy Watters, both of Galesburg, IL and Marvin Watters of Alpha, IL; two brothers, Richard Johnson of Roseville, IL and Robert Johnson of Teague, TX; five sisters, Eunice Atkinson of Corpus Christi, TX, Gertrude McCord of Galesburg, IL, Bernice McNeely of Mt. Dora, FL, Violet Park of Silvis, IL and Margaret Smith of Galesburg, IL; 11 grandchildren and 9 great grandchildren. Two brothers and a sister preceded her in death.

He was born on November 10, 1921 near Henderson IL to Earl H. and Rosie K. (Schwarz) Shay. He married Margaret L. Anderson in Galesburg on September 16, 1945. She survives.
He sold insurance for the Country Companies until 1961. He then worked as a car salesman for the various Oldsmobile dealerships in Galesburg for 26 years, retiring in 1987. He lived in the Henderson and Galesburg area his entire life. He graduated from Sparta Township High School in 1940. He was a member of the Trinity Lutheran Church his entire life, where he served on the church board for 16 years. He taught Sunday School and was the Sunday School Superintendent. He was a member of the Masonic Lodge and the Kiwanis Club. He pitched fast pitch softball including several World Series in Rock Island, IL. He served in the U.S. Army during World War II as a Medical Technician in the 84th Station Hospital stationed in the Philippines.
He is survived by his wife, Margaret Shay of Galesburg, IL; a son, John Shay of Galesburg, IL; a daughter, Margo Shively of Galesburg, IL; a sister, Louise Johansen of Galesburg, IL; five grandchildren, Jason Shay, Zack Shay, Beau Shay, Marla Robson and Annette Shively and two great-grandchildren. Two sisters preceded him in death.

He was born on November 14, 1923 in St. David IL to Charles and Leah (Price) Davis. He married Betty Humphreys in Parsons KS on April 14, 1947. She survives.
He owned and operated the former Davis Food Stores in Galesburg and St. David, IL for 50 years, retiring in 1971. He later worked as a Realtor and he was a salesman associated with the Farmer's Insurance for 30 years, retiring in 1999. He graduated from High school in Lewistown IL. He was a member of the First Church of the Nazarene, where he served as Sunday School Superintendent and was a former Board Member of the Church. He served on the District Advisory Committee for the First Church of the Nazarene. He served in the Army during World War II as a Sergeant in Honolulu.
He is survived by his wife, Betty Davis of Galesburg, IL; five daughters, Dee Williams of Janesville, WI, Tana Anderson of Wee-Ma-Tuk Hills, IL, Rona Gutzky, Lindsay Peachey and Jane Warren, all of Galesburg, IL; ten grandchildren and six great grandchildren.

He was born on January 10, 1925 in St. Joseph MO to Paul E. and Lutie (Cannon) Reinschmidt. He married Betty L. Warren in Ft. Leonard Wood MO on March 3, 1946. She survives. He was an engineer for the Burlington Northern Railroad for 38 years, retiring in 1985. He was a former member of First Baptist Church, Galesburg and attended Colonial Baptist Church, Galesburg. He was a 50-year lifetime member of Alpha Masonic Lodge #155, Galesburg and had been a Master Mason. He was a lifetime member of Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 2257, Galesburg. He was an Army veteran of World War II, serving in the European Theatre Operations in F.A. Battalion, 70th Infantry Division. He served in the Rhineland and Central Europe battles and the occupation of Germany by US Troops. He participated in the Battle of the Bulge. He was a graduate of Central High School, St. Joseph, MO.
He is survived by his wife, Betty Reinschmidt of Galesburg, IL; two daughters, Dorothy Kaiser of San Mateo, CA and Betty L. Nelson of Galesburg, IL; a sister, Dorothy Brittain of Independence, MO; four grandchildren and two great grandchildren.

He was an Army veteran of WWII and a member of Ralph M. Noble American Legion Post 285, Galesburg.
He is survived by a sister-in-law, Signa Rogers of Galesburg, IL, nieces and nephews, Mary Hale, George Rogers, Frank Rogers, Jane Boystun and Dwain Moss, all of Galesburg, IL, several great nieces and nephews.

He first worked for Galesburg Typewriters for 15 years. He then worked for Knox Typewriters; he later worked for Hines & McClintock Appliances. He last worked for Ross Shaver & Typewriter as a mechanic for 12 years, retiring in 1990. He lived in Monmouth until 1949 when he moved to Galesburg. He graduated from Monmouth High School in 1943. He was of the Methodist faith. He was a member of the Optimist Club and Lions Club. He served in the Army for 3 years stationed in Europe.
He is survived by his wife, Mary Norris of Galesburg, IL, four sons, James Norris, John Norris and William Norris, all of Galesburg, IL and Roland Norris of Roselle, IL and eight grandchildren. Three brothers and four sisters preceded him in death.
