George F. Reitzel
George F. Reitzel, 82, of Sterling, died Wednesday, January 18, 2006 at CGH Medical Center. He was a self-employed electrical contractor until retiring and worked part time as an electrical consultant for Frantz Mfg. Co. Steel Ball Division until a week before his death.
Mr. Reitzel was born May 17, 1923 in Sterling, the son of Frank H. and May (Drane) Reitzel. He served in the US Navy. He married Doris L. Compton on November 24, 1949 at the Rock Falls Congregational Church. She preceded him in death July 30, 2005.
Survivors are two sisters, Marge Walker of Sterling, Mary Jane Heller of Fulton; and numerous nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by a brother, James.
Cremation rites have been accorded. A memorial service will be held at a later date. Arrangements were completed by the Schilling Funeral Home.

ANNE E. SPECHT
MILLEDGEVILLE - Anne E. Specht, 82, of Milledgeville, died Friday, January 13, 2006 at Morrison Community Hospital.
Mrs. Specht was born March 17, 1923 in Centralia WA, the daughter of Clyde and Ceres (Rogers) Caveness. She married William Specht September 2, 1950 in Champaign. Anne graduated from Centralia Jr. College and completed her nurses training at St. Peter School of Nursing in Olympia, WA. She served as a surgical nurse for many years after her graduation. She served in various capacities as a volunteer at Green Hill Council of Girl Scouts. Anne also volunteered for the American Heart Association, and served as a volunteer registered nurse for other charitable organizations.
Survivors include her husband, two daughters Patricia Specht of Milledgeville, and Diana (Daniel) Saavedra of Roscoe; two sons Edward W. (Anita) Specht of Rockton; and Thomas (Elizabeth) Specht of Fredericksburg, VA; one brother Henry (Lucile) Caveness of Oak Harbor WA; six grandchildren Margarete Kaniuth of Mulheim, Germany, Benjamin Specht of Rockton, Carl Specht of Norfolk, VA, Dale Specht of Rockton, David Specht of Fredericksburg, VA, and Alexandra Saavedra of Roscoe.
Services will be held at 10 A.M. Thursday, January 19, 2006 at Milledgeville United Methodist Church with the Reverend Mary Flatness officiating. Burial will be at Oak Knoll Memorial Park, Sterling. Visitation will be 4-7 P.M. Wednesday at Milledgeville United Methodist Church.
A Memorial has been established to the Milledgeville United Methodist Church, and the Girl Scouts.
Mabel R. Dietz
Baraboo, WI - Mabel R. Dietz, 99, a life long resident of Rock Falls and Sterling, IL, died Friday January 13, 2006 at St. Clare Meadows Care Center in Baraboo, WI.
Mrs. Dietz was born October 11, 1906 in Sterling, IL, the daughter of Abraham and Rose Mae (Moorehead) Wolber. Mabel married Edward J. "Stub" Dietz on January 3, 1936 in Rockford, IL.
He preceded her in death on March 12,1986.
Mabel enjoyed many activities during her lifetime and was known for always keeping busy. She and her husband loved farming even well into retirement and beyond when farming for her meant tending to her orchids and violets. Mabel also enjoyed baking, ironing, bowling, playing cards, and sewing. In her later years, up until her late nineties, Mabel cherished the time spent traveling across the country to visit family and friends.
Survivors include one son DuWayne (Ruth) Dietz of Sterling, IL; one daughter Yvonne (Walter) Smith of Baraboo, WI; one brother George Wolber of Sterling, IL; 11 grandchildren; and 22 great grandchildren.
She was also preceded in death by her parents, four brothers Delbert, Lawrence, Thomas "Gene", Chester, and one great grandson Brock Smith.
Services will be 11 A.M. Tuesday, January 17, 2006 at Rock Falls Immanuel Lutheran Church with Reverend Henrietta Milner officiating.
Burial will be at Riverside Cemetery, Sterling, IL. Visitation will be Monday, January 16, 2006 from 4-6 P.M. at Schilling Funeral Home, Sterling, IL.

REVEREND WILLARD E. HOLLIS
STERLING - Reverend Willard E. Hollis, 96 of Sterling, died Thursday, January 12, 2006 at his residence.
Reverend Hollis was born September 18, 1909 in Menard County, near Atterberry. He was the son of Clarence and Elizabeth Colson Hollis. He married Alice J. Bigelow on March 22, 1932 in Rochester. She preceded him in death on August 22, 1989. He served in various churches of the Northwestern Illinois District Churches of the Nazarene, and was a member of the First Church of the Nazarene of Sterling. In retirement he served in various ministries of the Sterling church and as a volunteer Chaplain at CGH Medical Center. He enjoyed memorizing scripture and poems, and loved woodworking gardening, and fishing.
Survivors include one daughter, Rosemary (Reverend Paul G.) Aurand of Silvis; three sons, W. Cavitt (Ruth) Hollis of Macomb, Berton W. (Betty) Hollis of Sterling and Reverend John W. (Donna) Hollis of Freeport; fourteen grandchildren; twenty three great-grandchildren; one sister Martha Taylor of Arlington TX.
He was also preceded in death by 4 brothers Harold , Dale, Clarence and Luther Hollis; 1 granddaughter Cheryl Ann Hollis; 1 great grandson Justin Lee Seavey.
Funeral services will be at 11 A.M. on Monday, January 16, 2006 at the First Church of the Nazarene. Burial will be Tuesday at 11 A.M. in Oak Hill Cemetery, Riverton. Visitation will be from 2-6 P.M. Sunday at the Schilling Funeral Home, Sterling.
A memorial has been established.
JOHN R. HUBBARD
COLETA - John R. Hubbard, 81, died Saturday, January, 7, 2006 at his home. He was employed by Northwestern Steel and Wire Company as a checker.
John was born May 30, 1924 in Milledgeville. The son of John Q. and Luella W. (Garwick) Hubbard. He served in the United States Navy Sea Bees during World War II. He married Patricia A. Smith on March 15, 1950 in Rock Falls. She survives. He was a member of First Christian Church, Sterling.
He is also survived by, three sons, John ( Becky) Hubbard Jr. of Peoria. Russell (Pauly) Hubbard of Byron, and Michael (Donna) Hubbard of Lake City, FL; two sisters, Delores Smith of Morrison and Barbara ( Larry ) Clark of Sterling; and two brothers, Darrell (Doris)Hubbard of Coleta, and Robert (Lula) Hubbard, of Sterling; seven grandchildren and six great-grandchildren
He was preceded in death by one brother, Keith Hubbard.
Funeral services will be at 10:30 AM Tuesday, January, 10, 2005 at the First Christian Church of Sterling with the Reverend David Yonker, pastor, officiating. Burial will be at Oak Knoll Memorial Park, Sterling. Visitation will be from 3-6 PM Monday at the Schilling Funeral Home, Sterling
Alexander L. Haglund
STERLING - Alexander L. Haglund, 91, of Sterling, died Monday, December 26, 2005, at CGH Medical Center. Mr. Haglund was an attorney in Sterling for over 50 years until his retirement in 1994.
Alex was born June 4, 1914, in Sterling, the son of Arthur and Isabelle (Robinson) Haglund. He married Jane E. Smith on June 28, 1947, in Dixon. She preceded him in death on March 11, 1995.
He was a lifelong member of First Presbyterian Church in Sterling. He was a founding member of Sterling-Rock Falls Community Trust, active in the Lions Club, the Sterling-Rock Falls Historical Society, the Republican Party, and the YMCA board. Mr. Haglund was a board member of Sterling Township High School, and then District Unit 5. Most recently Mr. Haglund was a patient advocate at CGH Medical Center, and received the distinguished alumni award from the Sterling Schools Foundation.
Mr. Haglund is survived by two sons, Jim (Mary Sue Komaniecki) Haglund of Oak Park IL, and John (Debbie) Haglund of Sterling; two daughters, Ann Haglund (Scott White) of Platteville, WS, and Janet (Leo) Potter of Rockford; one brother William Haglund of Kihei, HI; nine grandchildren Alex, William, Tyler, Andrew, Peter Haglund, Benjamin, Marshall, Sarah Potter, and Jordan White; and one niece Mary Sweeney.
He was also preceded in death by one granddaughter Cassie White; and one sister Mary Belle Gray.
Services will be held at 10:30 A.M., Thursday, December 29, 2005, at the First Presbyterian Church in Sterling, with the Reverend Peter Wilkinson, officiating. Burial will be in Riverside Cemetery. Visitation will be Wednesday from 4-7 P.M. at the Schilling Funeral Home, Sterling.
In lieu of flowers a memorial has been established.
Lester Eugene Winfield
Sterling - Lester Eugene Winfield, 30, died Sunday, December 18, 2005 at his home.
Lester was born March 20, 1975 in Tunica, Miss., the son of Chester and Lorene (Tate) Winfield.
Survivors are a daughter, Jessica Winfield of Sterling; his grandmother Ceola Williams of Tunica MS; his parents of Sterling; three sisters, Marilyn Cardwell, Carrie Winfield, both of Rockford, Ceola LaBlanc of Dixon; and two brothers, Curtis Tate of Peoria, Chester Winfield, Jr. of Rochelle; and a host of Aunts, Uncles, Nieces, and Nephews.
Services will be held at 12:00 P.M., Friday, December 23, 2005 at Schilling Funeral Home. Burial will be at the Riverside Cemetery, Sterling. Visitation will be 11-12, Friday, December 23 at the Schilling Funeral Home, Sterling, IL.

PEGGY L. GLISPIE
ROCK FALLS - Peggy L. Glispie, 54, of Rock Falls died, Saturday, December 10, 2005 at CGH Medical Center. She was a C.N.A. at Oakwood Cilla, until her retirement.
Peggy was born August 21, 1951 in Paris. The daughter of Howard and Thelma (Cunningham)Glispie.
Survivors include her mother, Thelma; two daughters, Amanda (Donald) Rice of Colorado Springs, CO and Sara Jewell of Rock Falls; one sister, Jody Glispie of Sterling; two brothers, Howard (Linda) Glispie of Rock Falls and Paul (Diane) Glispie of LeClaire, IA; and three grandchildren.
Graveside services will be held at 10:30 AM Tuesday, December 13, 2005 at Coloma Township Cemetery with Pastor Dalmus Meeks, of Harvest Time Bible Church, Rock Falls.
She was preceded in death by her father, Howard.
Arrangements were completed by the Schilling Funeral Home, Sterling.
Darrell L. Hendricks
Sterling - Darrell L. Hendricks, 74, died suddenly Thursday, December 8, 2005 at his home. He was employed as a field engineer for IBM until retiring in 1987. He later managed the Garden Shop in Rock Falls.
Mr. Hendricks was born November 19, 1931 in Glen Elder, KS, the son of Paul R. and Edna (Kresin) Hendricks. He graduated from Rock Falls Twp. High School in 1949. He served in the US Air Force for four years. He married Gloria Selander January 28, 1962 in Prophetstown.
Survivors are his wife; two brothers, Raymond Hendricks of Sterling; James (Kathy) Hendricks of Sycamore; a brother-in-law, Ed (Linda) Selander of Moline; sister-in-law, Donna (Richard) Maes of Rock Falls; his aunt and uncle, LaVerne and Marjory Kresin of Glen Elder, KS and several nieces and nephews.
Services will be held at 10:30 AM, Monday, December 12, 2005 at Schilling Funeral Home with Reverend Christine Gilbert pastor of the First United Methodist Church officiating. Burial will be at Oak Knoll Memorial Park. Visitation will be from 1-3 PM Sunday at the funeral Home.
In lieu of flowers, a memorial has been established to the CGH Foundation Cancer Care and Hospice of Rock River Valley .
Lucille N. Hoover
Rock Falls - Lucille N. Hoover, 92, formerly of Kewanee, died Tuesday, December 6, 2005 at CGH Medical Center.
Mrs. Hoover was born July 12, 1913 in Des Moines, IA, the daughter of Ralph and Florence (Budeck) Anderson and later adopted by Aaron (Ella) Wittenauer. She married Robert A. Hoover April of 1936 in Clinton, IA. He died January 3, 1971.
Survivors are two daughters, Donna Marie Ruth of Sterling, Delores (Pepe) Hurtado of Springfield WI; a son, Daryl (Kay) Hoover of Wyoming., IL; 5 grandchildren, 11 great-grandchildren, and 6 great-great grandchildren.
Services will be held at 10:00 A.M., Thursday, December 8, 2005 at the Schilling Funeral Home with Reverend Daniel Behmlander of Good Shepherd Lutheran Church officiating. Burial will be at 1:30 PM at the Evergreen Memorial Gardens, Kewanee. There will be no visitation.
A memorial has been established to Good Shepherd Lutheran Church or Hospice of the Rock River Valley.
Dorothy E. Harris
Rockford - Dorothy E. Harris, 87, died Sunday, December 4, 2005 at Swedish American Hospital, Rockford.
Dorothy was born April 6, 1918 in Ramsey, the daughter of Lee and Eva (Miller) Hill. She married Woodrow Harris June 3, 1938 in Ramsey. He died April 30, 2000.
Survivors are two daughters, Carol (Kenneth) Fischer of Rockford, Donna (Larry) Lenhart of Lake Carroll; one son, Phillip (Mona) Harris of Rockford; eight grandchildren, Jodi (Terry) Heden, Theresa (Matt) Fischer, Mark (Teri) Fischer, Patricia (Wade) Woodward, Lori (Clark) Carroll, Douglas (Julie) Lenhart, Philip (Dana) Harris, Steven (Jennita) Harris; and 14 great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by four brothers, two sisters, one half-sister, and one half-brother.
Services will be held at 11:00 A.M., Wednesday, December 7, 2005 at the Schilling Funeral Home with Reverend Kathleen Burkheimer of First Evangelical Lutheran Church of West Jordan, officiating. Burial will be at the Oak Knoll Memorial Park. Visitation will be 10-11, Wednesday, December 7 at the funeral home.
